I purchased this suit last year during their Black Friday sale and love it. I had to get the pants hemmed (they come unhemmed at 37") and the jacket taken in just a tad, but those are minor alterations. Like you said, my tailor was also impressed by the quality. Bonobos has 4 different fits for their pants which won't need alterations (other than hemming) for the vast majority of men. They also offer two fits for the jacket. This won't accommodate all guys, but probably will for most. I probably wouldn't have gotten it had it not been on sale and can't see myself ever recommending someone buy it for $750. I'd go MTM at that point. Even at the $500 I got it for it was still a high price to pay. The quality is great and I love the stain repellent material, but the wool probably isn't as high quality as something in the same price range as Suit Supply or Oliver Wicks. Overall, I think on sale it's a pretty good buy for the guy who just doesn't want to go through the MTM process. The wide variety of fits will accommodate most guys with minimal tailoring needed. However, don't pay full price for this suit!
@Miles Doyle Wow! What a comment. I hopped on here looking to read a review for a suit I'm getting for my wedding, and then stumble across this. Thanks for sharing, but a small tip to you my brother might be to make future postings much briefer. I'm not sure how many people would read such a long passage to the end. God bless you.
I'm not sure that I agree with functioning buttonholes as necessarily being a sign of quality. One advantage of having a jacket off the rack without those types of holes is that it makes altering the sleeves of the jacket easier and cheaper. On their own, such buttonholes are more an aesthetic characteristic and not necessarily indicative of a high quality piece, imo.
I was just about to make the same comment. It's not a sign of quality but it does add an aesthetic appeal to the jacket. It's a detail more associated with custom garments and shouldn't be seen as a sign of lower quality in an off-the-rack garment. If anything, they are just making it easy for you to alter the sleeve to your preferred length.
I have 4 Bonobos suit and buy it on sale (less than 400 USD) They are pretty nice suit (italian fabric) and fit perfect. The 36Regular and 38 Slim are my size (bouth fit pretty nice). The unscontructed blazer from bonobos are the best blazer by far in the market. Always wait for sale to buy it.
the reason that the cuff buttons aren’t functional is simply to reduce the cost of tailoring the sleeve to the right length. I think it’s a really good feature and really should be on all off-the-rack suits tbh.
I bought a suit from Suit Supply and since it had working sleeve buttons and the sleeve needed to be shortened, they had to literally take the sleeve off and shorten it at the upper end. So yes, I agree with you. If you don't want to have your suit frankensteined, non-working buttons is actually a nice feature.
My thing is that if you're going to be spending that much, wouldn't it be better to do something MTM? Unless, of course, you need something right away without and lead time. Then, I get it.
I was going to say the same thing, but I would also add that functioning buttons are no longer truly a marker of a quality suit. Companies have listened to folks, and now that they know they are in demand, there is a number of cheaper low end jackets that offer functioning buttons. The cost of adding buttons is a relatively small cost for the manufacturer. The only reason they were not traditionally part of a suit, is because they make the sleeve difficult (and expensive) to alter. So if you had functioning buttons, it was a sign you had the suit custom made.
Solid review, Brian! No BS, just honesty. I'm honestly in love with that fabric...a little stretch plus rain beading off makes it a must have fabric for me. Great as always!
I just picked up my first Bonobos suit today. It's a Light Navy Jetsetter Stretch. Picked it up at Nordstrom for just a hair under $600. Seems like a bargain. It fits great, really light and comfortable, and looks great. Seems high quality for the price. Good value. I'll be wearing it at a wedding this weekend, so that will be the test to see how it does. But initial impressions are really positive.
For me, Bonobos has the best fit off the rack blazers out of all the ones I have tried and owned under $500. However, Custom fit Suit Supply looks tempting though these days.
I've got a closet full of main line Zegna, Corneliani, and Canali, with the odd Samuelsohn, Brooks Brothers, and Ralph Lauren Purple Label thrown in. I also have a single lone sport-coat from Charles Tyrwhitt. The $300 Charles Tywrhitt is the only piece that has functioning button holes. Functioning button holes being a sign of quality has no bearing in modern men's suiting. Like pick stitching, it may have once pointed to hand detail work, but is meaningless now. They're fine on made-to-measure or true bespoke, but on any OTR, they're just an extra hassle when it comes to alterations of the sleeve length.
50% of my cloth is from this brand. I would like to point out 2 things: Its jacket has 1 more fitting dimension other than 38R, it has slim/standard/athletic. So for me, with so many fitting option, i only need a tailor.to cuff the pants 2nd, discount for this brand is pretty huge, you can buy at about 200+$ for a suit easily when it is on double discount. Unlike say suitsupply whose price is very steady.
The Suit has a very good fit for off the rack, but for that price l would consider Pini Parma.l had bought a Kenneth Cole suit(200.00) on line and it is 98% wool 2% stretch material, and it fit really well, except for the pants needed a hem.
Good video. My height and weight are basically the same as yours, except I weight 150lbs. For certain body types, Bonobos is ideal! I have a few suits and several constructed and unconstructed blazers that fit perfectly (as if they were altered) without any alterations. With the pants, typically the length may require alterations. I love the Bonobos concept, quality, style and fit. The pieces look expensive (some actually are) and well tailored. If you haven't been to a guide shop, I definitely recommend checking them out.
Great video! U can tell right off the bat the fit on u is pretty much flawless right out of the box. I’ll definitely keep bonobos in mind for future suiting. I have a pair of bonobos jeans. The fit/cut is fantastic.

But the opposite is simply not true (for example I have a suit jacket from Corneliani hat doesn't have them). I could share your opinion if I - or you for that matter - would need the sleeve buttons for rolling the sleeves up. I never do that and I doubt that you do. So unless you don't want to show off, the buttons aren't important. But I agree that 3 buttons so far back from the cuff do look weird. Hello Brian could you pls guide me when making made to measure or bespoke suits..how much space should we have in arms? e.g if my arms measure 15" how much should they measure 16"?
I prefer nonfunctional sleeve buttons for ease of tailoring. I feel like more brands are catching on to the functioning sleeve buttons = quality idea and are putting them on low quality jackets to make them seem better.
I will say, I don't think you can consider functioning buttons on a suit a real indicator of quality anymore. Companies do listen to what consumers like, so when you make what you look for something so easily added in, they start to listen. I own two cheap blazers I got at Target with functioning sleeve buttons (their full retail price was $45 as I recall). I like them for what they are, and when I got them they were worth it, but they are not high quality. Adding buttons to the sleeves of a garment isn't that much more expensive, but it makes the sleeves much more difficult (and expensive) to shorten at a tailor. The main reason buttons on most suits are traditionally non-functional is because an off the rack suit will often need some adjustments, and the reason it became associated with quality is because most suits with functional buttons were custom. That being said, I agree you can now absolutely get just such a custom suit at that price point, with functioning buttons and everything. However, I don't really consider it a hard knock on Bonobos that the sleeve buttons are non-functioning on their off the rack suit. It is just that at $750, you can find a good custom suit pretty easily.
Surgeon's cuffs are annoying. Makes lengthening the sleeves cost a fortune at the tailor. They're not a sign of "high quality" anymore, considering you can get blazers at Target with working buttons on the cuff.
Those pockets are for when you're throwing the suit jacket over a chair or over your arm. You won't lose your valuables. The hip pocket is for your smartphone. This pocket placement allows for your device to remain hidden, versus being visible on your thigh.
If you’ve never had a tailored suit, first try getting a shirt tailored. If you love a shirt with your correct sleeve length, you will absolutely love a properly fitted suit!
Greetings Friend, I would welcome your thoughts reviews and observations on good bespoke tailors in the the US. New York or California based if you have any. Thanks
Half canvas. Lapel buttonhole. I can't determine whether it is sewn shut (often the case) of if there's something else going on. Either way, I think it could easily and cleanly be opened up if you wanted to.
Oooooooh. Tough one. As much as it pains me to say it (see my Suitsupply review), I think I have to say Suitsupply. However, big however, Bonobos clearly wins in the pants category for me. That could actually be a really good video topic. Thanks for planting that in my head.
You can't talk about fit like that in an off-the-rack suit review. It doesn't fit well, it fits *you* well. This is a half canvassed suit with non-functional buttonholes. A lot of their suits have polyester lining or plastic buttons or both. I like my bonobos foundation blazers, marzotto wool is nice, but it's not worth anywhere near full price. It's a good value around $300 if it fits you well. And considering your SuitSupply review, I figured you'd have a better idea of that.
I could’ve gotten over the name despite the fact that bonobos, the animals, are famous for their incestuous behavior. I mean, literally anything goes ;-), but the brand being owned by Walmart is definitely a dealbreaker!!!

Do you know anything about Duncan Quinn suits? If so what is your opinion?
Have never heard of them.
Custom bespoke tailor in Manhattan’s SoHo area. Thank you.
I like the guideshop experience
Surgeon's cuffs are annoying. Makes lengthening the sleeves cost a fortune at the tailor. They're not a sign of "high quality" anymore, considering you can get blazers at Target with working buttons on the cuff.
Those pockets are for when you're throwing the suit jacket over a chair or over your arm. You won't lose your valuables. The hip pocket is for your smartphone. This pocket placement allows for your device to remain hidden, versus being visible on your thigh.
Thanks for chiming in.
Great review, thanks!
Where did you get the shirt from in this video?
You mean the one I'm wearing at the desk? It's from the Nordstrom 1901 collection. Don't think it's available anymore.
He Spoke Style No, the one in the suit?
He Spoke Style ?
If you’ve never had a tailored suit, first try getting a shirt tailored. If you love a shirt with your correct sleeve length, you will absolutely love a properly fitted suit!
Thanks for chiming in.
Greetings Friend,
I would welcome your thoughts reviews and observations on good bespoke tailors in the the US. New York or California based if you have any.

Michael Andrews Bespoke
Angel Bespoke
P Johnson
Thank you 👍
You are welcome
Hi Brian,
Can you review ring jacket in the future?
What about suits from Theory?
hi Brian, don't think the supply to Europe just a point, great video again
No? Wasn't something I dug into.
You have to check Cabasso un switzerland
When will they be available in the EU?
I don't know. Why not write to customer service and see what they say?
Where are these made?
Do mention that you can't get this in the EU. I'm based in London sadly.
Thanks for the info.
Do a suit review for Oliver Wicks please!
Where are their suits made? Thanks.
Is that watch A Lange Söhne?
OMG we are the exact same size
Half canvas or fused???
What watch is that?
The one I'm wearing at the desk? If so, that's the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph.
Hey Brian, nice watch you are wearing. What is that? #offtopic
That's the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph.
I like that they are sold online.
Is it a glued/fused jacket or half canvas? Additionally is the lapel button cosmetic or functional?
Half canvas. Lapel buttonhole. I can't determine whether it is sewn shut (often the case) of if there's something else going on. Either way, I think it could easily and cleanly be opened up if you wanted to.
36 reg? Im 5' 6" and 145lb, and I wear 38 reg. One of us is wearing the wrong size 😂
The watch ?
The one I'm wearing? It's the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph.
Three and a half inch lapel looks better, definitely the way to go.
Shot Down In Flames very happy to see this lapel width on a RTW suit
Bonobos or Suit Supply?
Oooooooh. Tough one. As much as it pains me to say it (see my Suitsupply review), I think I have to say Suitsupply. However, big however, Bonobos clearly wins in the pants category for me. That could actually be a really good video topic. Thanks for planting that in my head.
@@hespokestyle do it
Seems like a decent travel suit.
I would agree. It steams out very easily.
Respected sir,I am rethinabalaji.lawyer.from india.kindly explain any indian suit.thankyou
Hearing the gentleman gazette rate the suits from this brand really turned me off. They look great, but that grade was horrible.
I can't seem to get over the zipper. Didn't you find it weird?
The are selling regular wool pants and calling it Super 120 wool.
You're 5'9"?. Wow, I never would've known. One of the advantages wearing properly fitted clothes.
You thought he’s much taller? Haha
In Canada at least you can buy Bonobos at Nordstrom's.
Indeed.
$700 for a Bonobos suit? At least I expect they are full canvas??
I could’ve gotten over the name despite the fact that bonobos, the animals, are famous for their incestuous behavior. I mean, literally anything goes ;-), but the brand being owned by Walmart is definitely a dealbreaker!!!
I'm surprised more people don't point out the name!
He Spoke Style well, most people probably don’t know about bonobos.
When you pay premium you should get premium quality.
Didnt know hes only 5’9 you look way taller :D
Proper fitting clothes make a huge difference
If you can't buy a way better suit at 750 dollars then you're a bit lost imo !
Thanks for chiming in.
Its odd that I’m just a bit taller than you and a 38s. Bodies are weird.
