Oh hey 👋🏼... thanks for watching my video. If you try Suitsupply, feel free to use my affiliate link below. It helps keeps this channel free of sponsored "reviews" (don't you hate those?). Here it is if you want to use it: tidd.ly/3r06Wzf (thanks!)
I wanted to try them but I luckily found a local tailor who makes custom suits. I personally like buying local so it's a win win
Gorgeous suit, exceptional fit. The overcoat impressed me the most. You look so well proportioned and put together!
I've always wanted to try Suitsupply because they have such a variety of suits to choose from. Now that you have given them your stamp of approval, I will try them. Great video Bro.. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the honest review. I count on stuff like this to make decisions. The overcoat looks great with the suit!
Glad it was helpful!
Also, the lapels on that overcoat are gorgeous; a generous width that tapers down perfectly to the natural waist. Very flattering and much more fun to have the collar popped than w/ a slimmer lapel overcoat. I do think slimmer/shorter men miss out on a lot of what a lapel has to offer when they go skinny on their lapels. Wider ones really do build up that chest and pronounce that nice V taper. I live in a very cold and wet part of the world so I prefer a longer overcoat for some additional drama and protection, but other than that it's exactly what I'd be looking for.
9:37 Brock, you are looking really sharp here. That whole ensemble is excellent. Suitsupply is great considering where the fabric is from, price, the experience, etc. I appreciate the neutral, honest review considering your vast experience with the same business model.
Thanks! And I’m glad the video was helpful.
shoulders looked good
Finally after 1 month my man is back !! Awesome video ❤️
I had two custom suits made up in May, travelling 700 miles to be measured in-store. I had 1 three piece slightly retro looking outfit made up in ash grey and one two piece very similar to yours, in a green/brown wool/silk/linen. Wish I'd known about the overcoats!
The instore experience (With Kosta at Pitt St, Sydney) was very enjoyable, I was always made to feel very in control and Kosta really saw his job as being to offer some alternatives to my wilder excesses (like the fire engine red lining I wanted in the grey suit). he was also aware that I was working to a budget and didn't try to push me beyond that.
The suits took 4 weeks to arrive. Fit was superb, comfort was amazing and price for two custom suits was only marginally more than I'd pay for a single Anthony Squires suit off the rack. Would thoroughly recommend the experience.
Great video! Looks awesome!
Thank you, sir!
To me this clearly illustrates that the typical advice of not to have pleats, cuffs and wide lapels if you're short is simply nonsensical and outdated. None of these things detract from an attractive silhouette, which is by far the most important consideration. The outfit is incredible and such stylistic details are key components of its success. The pleats carry the leg line all the way up to the waistband which is far more flattering, cuffs keep the trouser draping and sitting on the footwear properly and the wider lapels accentuate the build up of the chest and slimming of the waist. I have these features on the majority of my trousers, jackets and coats and never has someone remarked that they make me look shorter; on the contrary, people are much more likely to compliment them. Pleated trousers with side adjusters or ideally braces are also leagues more practical and comfortable too, in my opinion. Cheers.
awesome video, for me life is super simple. As long as i pick my size off the rack it fits like it's tailored to me, like a glove. Always grateful for that.
Thanks for sharing, Brock! I am roughly the same body type as you, and Suitsupply's custom program has been my go to for a few years now. In fact, I recently picked up my new navy suit in their traveler fabric earlier this week. You are definitely right about the measuring process being the most important. Luckily, I have been measured by the same specialist at the location near me for years now, so the experience is always enjoyable and stress free. Cheers!
Nice, that’s the way to go!
I was hesitant at the beginning of the video...my opinion changed immediately as the video went on. Thanks for this, Brock! There's a Suitsupply location where I am so I will check it out!
Excellent review mate and the outfit looks fantastic on you! I was hoping that at some point a review of their pure online customization would come out. In other words, when a customer enters their customization program for either jacket, trousers or shirts (not available for the full suit option yet), there are tons of size measurements that can be punched in online, like, many! for example front rise/back rise of the trousers, shoulder, back, chest and bicep for the jacket, etc etc. Probably the most detailed online customization tool I have seen. Just ordered my first suit from there (jacket and trousers designed separately) as we do not have a physical store in Norway yet. Very excited to see the result, as I took all measurements from different garments that fit me nicely, but none of them being completely convincing on their own. Cheers!
Thank you for your review and you look sharp!
Great suit, Brock! Suits you (no pun intended) very good.
I might try the custom program as well. Thanks for your honest review.
I've worked with Jared before at another M2M place in town and had very good experiences with him too. I've been curious about Suit Supply -- specifically their overcoats. Thanks for the video. As always, it was excellent.
Love SuSu, the Havanna and Lazio fit work best for me. In the past I used to dress up more but I prefer nowadays a more smart casual look. Will try out a custom navy blazer and pleated pants and shirts. Am a happy customer since more than 10 Years
Love those E.Thomas fabrics, something that makes Suitsupply stand out.
Love seeing suit reviews, man! I was wondering about their MTM since they launched it. That fabric is incredible looking. Can you adjust the rise of the pants?
Great as always, bro!
Thanks dude! Yes, rise is adjustable. I took a higher rise on these pants, compared to their normal RTW rise for my inseam.
Since I have a similar build to you. I always rely on your videos. You are quite literally a life savor for us shorter kings. Can you make an updated video/blog ranking the best custom suit place you've experienced? With an emphasis on fit?
Glad to hear that! Good idea...I'll put some thought into it.
Cool, great review! Cheers!
I love how the quality of your videos has improved over the years!
Your equipment and voice and lighting also has leveled up!
How so you like suit supply vs indochino?
Thank you! SS is better than Indochino in terms of quality, but Indo can be much cheaper.
Great color and fabric choice man! Super versatile🔥
Thanks dude!
I can’t wait for you to try Enzo Custom! I would love your thoughts on it
Great video as always. And a great review of Suit Supply. And you got an excellent suit. They have an amazing store here in Shanghai. It's an old four storey French Concession mansion. I can't wear their off the rack as I'm a tall with slightly narrow shoulders and slightly long arms, I either get the shoulders right or the arms right. But they have an amazing range of fabrics and colours on the rack so it's a great place to try out new looks for yourself if you're not sure. I then go to my tailor to get a custom suit, but I might look into their custom program if they have it here in Shanghai. I agree, being measured by a pro is the key to a good fit. I always measure myself wrong.
Great vid!
Whatever you do BROCK ! i just love you!😎😎
With suit supply you also have the option to adjust your off the rack suit which is way cheaper and also makes a great fit.
That suit is definitely your style, and the proportions work with your build too. You look like a lawyer with that suit
haven't been on this channel in a while but the video edits are wayy better now
Miss the suit content! 🔥
About to get my first suit from Suitsupply this Saturday
Next time I'm in the market for a suit I know where to go. Thanks Brock.
Thank you very worth it and so much worth the money
Going there tomorrow thanks bud
Hey Brock, I would love an updated made-to-measure/bespoke comparison video of all the brands you mentioned. Maybe a ranking and what you get from paying more.
Good idea!
I recommend the custom because you have more options and it will be a better fit. Especially if you're 5'5" or shorter
That’s a very nice looking suit! Man I love pleats.
Looking great, Brock! I actually just last night ordered a MTM suit from Oliver Wicks based on your review of them. Girlfriend helped me with the measurements - we tried to be very meticulous. That said, I saw your reply on another comment about the SS over coat. I might have to check that out. Been wanting to get a real, nice over coat for a couple years now. It would get plenty of use here in St Paul, MN.
Let me know how it turns out!
@joeydecarlo2532
Yes please do report back on your Oliver Wicks purchase.
I live in northern va and thanks for your review. Going to visit the DC location
I actually just got a tuxedo done from this same location. Between them and Alton Lane, i think they're pretty much equal but Suit Supply did have more options.
I own 4 suits from Suit Supply and wear them religiously.
Not my favorite color pattern suit. However; you nailed it with the Navy blue overcoat. Brings out the suit color as the contrast has a sharp look. 👍👍👍
Thanks it was great.
“Svelte”.
A new word to my vocabulary!
You should try their polos and sweaters if you haven't yet. Definitely pricier but I love the cotton silk polos, and plan on buying their cashmere silk and merino sweaters.
You look amazing on that suit!
Thank you!
Suit Supply typically does a Spring sale. Wonder if we will see that this year…
🤞🏼
Out of all the custom suit companies you have been through, which suit did you like the best? And where would you put suitsupply on this list?
For non-bespoke, SS is close to #1 for me right now, if you’re getting measured in person. For self-measurements, Oliver Wicks has been my best experience so far.
Spier and MacKay I've honestly had fantastic experiences with. I don't think SS or OW is bad though.
Comparing the topcoat fabric and fit vs a Peter Manning on your personal size. Which one would you recommend? Thanks for the Video Brock. Fantastic content as always
SS for sure. It’s much slimmer.
Hey, you look like a million bucks in that grey suit... the overcoat looks Awesome!
It looks good Brock. But Burgundy net tie 👍🏻 I enjoy the content
can you make a minimalist knitwear collection video?
There's not a Suit Supply in my area. That suit looks really good and fits you perfectly.
Beautiful suit.. the fit looks great!
Thanks!
That's some great content. Keep it up! May I ask you how tall you are (in cm)? It seems to me that we have a very similar build. Thanks!
Plz recommend what colored hoodie would go well with dark blue coloured bomber jacket.
If someone has access to a Suit Supply store, do you recommend they go with the Suit Supply MTM over something like Oliver Wicks?
Was your MTM based off a specific style e.g. Washington, Lazio etc etc? Amazing suit.
Nice to see you with some pleats. I think they are superior to flat fronts, even on slim short guys like us. How's the rise? I think it's really critical that the rise be high on a three piece suit because it means you can keep the bottom of the waistcoat really high while still covering the top of the trousers. If the waistcoat is too low it can kill the look imo. Cheers.
Agreed, pleats are comfy, especially for guys with some rest end. Rise is mid-high.
My friend and I have had a lot of trouble buying off the rack and tailoring. He’s built a lot like you as well. Svelte. I have super broad shoulders, but short legs. I’ll have to let him know there’s a location nearby!
Great video! I would have gone longer on the overcoat though. Knee length would be better in my opinion. :)
Hi,
Where do they make their suits and coats?
Great video! I love your tips, I would like to apply, but I'm 5'8 and half (174 cm), I'm short? Can I apply your tips? Thanks!!!
Hey Brock, do you ever find yourself missing your longer hair? I'm debating whether I should keep growing, or going short again. You rock both styles extremely well. Thanks!
I miss the look but not the hassle. Short hair just looks good all the time. Long hair is unpredictable and showers take forever. But if I were you…I’d keep going!
The finished product really depends on the skills of the in-store advisor. My first experience was horrible. The advisor ignored my request to have the collar lowered by 1.5cm. However, the store manager was proactive and offered to alter my jacket in priority. In the end, my jacket was delivered the same day, alterations included. My second experience was absolutely flawless. I was measured by the national sales manager for Canada who was in town to train his sales crew on the new MTM program. I've since re-ordered 3 suits, 2 sports jackets, 2 pairs of trousers and 5 shirts without any issues. What I appreciate the most with SuitSupply is their relative affordability.
You should take a look at Spier & Mackay custom program for a video, Brock!
I will!
@@BrockMcGoff Looking forward to it! Keep up the good work, always enjoy seeing a video from you pop up!
Great outfit. I would have gone longer on the overcoat though. Knee length would be better in my opinion. It all looks good though
This post was truly a revelation, so thank you for giving SuitSupply a test drive. For short skinny guys, custom is the only way to go. I'm familiar with the custom options at Indochino, but I never would have considered SuitSupply-until now. I'm impressed with the order online and fit in store option. It looks like you got a good fit, and I know from your stats that we are the same size. The custom shirt looks kind of baggy on you, as if it was a regular fit. Were there slimfit options as well? It looks like you bought the tie from another vendor. Ties for short guys are a separate issue. In the past, I have gone to Nordstrom Boys Dept and had success with their Joseph Abboud Boys ties, which were a bit longer. Otherwise, standard Men's size neckwear is too long, drooping down below your waist, which is not a good look.
I don’t like to go too slim with dress shirts. It’s just not comfortable. Here’s a guide to shorter ties - www.themodestman.com/short-ties/
looks great on you.
Thank you!
I am looking at getting a suit, but the price is out of my range in most places. Do you know of any cheaper places that make good suits (other than local places)?
How wide is your trouser leg opening?
What size is a EU 50 suit in the US?
Thanks for the info Brock. My 18 year old is starting college in the fall and needs a suit. I was thinking Indochino as a more affordable custom option. Any suggestions. Many thanks.
Indochino is quite a bit more affordable but less reliable. Here are other options - www.themodestman.com/tag/mtm/
Perfect. I will look at these. I’m in Westchester County and would be able to get to an Indochino in Greenwich CT. I’m assuming your reliability concern has at least something to do with not being able to get measured in person. Also your blogs are absolutely amazing. Thanks again.
Nice video we need video about your dite and life stayle
Trust me, it's not that exciting ;)
@@BrockMcGoff way man🤣
Great review! I need another topcoat. Is it weather resistant?
It's wool, which is naturally warm and handles moisture well. It's not water proof like a synthetic material, though.
@@BrockMcGoff Thanks for the info. Looks sharp on you!
Can you also do the whole process in store? Because I’m really new to the game and would prefer to do everything with a person who knows more
Yes, you can do the whole process in store.
Is this suit brown or grey?
This year I got a proper bespoke suit with 3 fittings in UK made 13oz wool. Everything I picked and its was made from scratch onsite in central London. £595 If you know, you know :) Before that SS was on the short list but that was not bespoke
Hey! Where is this in London?
Where is this bruv?
Am I the only one who thinks the suit at 1:22 looks friggin fire?
As someone who wears a 52r at 5’11” I’ve always avoided to consider getting my first suit from Suit Supply because all of their marketing gives me the impression that they cannot accommodate my body shape and type. Do they carry such large sizes off the rack with a classic fit?
Alot guys complain about those joints being too smalls around calf area... if you are not petite, get it mtm
Hey bro, I’m a young lad looking to up his styleee! Wanted to see if you’re open to selling me any clothing pieces that are a Small or 28x30 you don’t wear. It’ll be the equivalent to donating it to a second hand store. Any pieces would be great! I’m 22 (5’5 -140lbs) thanks!
How tall are you??
LOL! The suit fits you like a glove. Looks like hand made...judging whitin the context of video presentation.
I aslo like the how the coat fits...but the gray one...but the gray one...not blue.
"boomers had mens warehouse" me sweating having 3 suits from mens warehouse. btw mens warehouse finally changed up their stuff, they are more millennial friendly. but I cant wait to check out suit supply
Suitsupply won’t fit you off the rack perfectly unless you’re 6’0”-6’3”, 38”-42” chest, 30”-36” waist (standard 6” drop), 30”-34” inseam and under 35 years old. They’re made to fit their ‘ideal’ and not the average. The only major complaint I have while being within their ‘ideal’ proportions is their shoulders are typically narrow no matter what type of construction the jacket is.
In my experience their suits are too tight and come with not enought fabric to adjust properly, specially on the arms and the abdomen area. The shoulders fit is really good though.
Are the suits glued/fused, looks like it moves that way
SS is not fused and you get a fair few canvasing options. That said, some of their options take a while to soften and settle in.
The wool silk linen full canvas one that I bought even needed some persuading to "float".
This one is fully canvased. I don't think they make any fused jackets. It's stiff because it's brand new.
Collar roll
Did you get your overcoat tailored ? Im about your height and wanted the same coat
makes ya feel like a million bucks cause it is a million bucks lol
Cross the road and go to gieves and hawks if your in London much better quality
It really helps if you’re built like pre-spider bite Peter Parker.
I mean, not shitting on anyone but like OK, I Like Alpha M, but the suits that he put on just don't really go too well with him, the modest man wears those suits sooooo well
In todays age of dressing casual I never see a reason for a suit with the exception of a formal event.
I wore this suit to a wedding a few days ago. Even if you only need it a few times a year, you need it.
I made a comment asking for advice on my first suit and if I should get light grey, but I can't see it? Has it been deleted for any reason?
I didn't see that comment, but light grey is an okay color. That said, I'd probably go with medium grey or navy for my first suit.
Are you still working with Peter Manning?
Nope, running this channel full time now, along with my other websites (themodestman.com, theslenderwrist.com and fulltimeblog.com).
@@BrockMcGoff Ok thanks 🙂
SS customer support via email is terrible. very slow to answer, don't understand simple questions.
