      In the UK the sports coat is more referring to one where you have metal buttons at the end of the sleeves of the jacket. We normally call non suiting jackets blazers and we normally don't label much else as sports coats...

      Also, my favorite jeans are solid dark grey, navy, black, white and khaki in straight or slim fit. I don't like faded, distressed, whitewash etc. Also, the double breasted doesn't do much for me. My favorite outfits are solid dark grey jeans with navy blazer and dark navy jeans with tweed in shades of olive or brown.

    • @khamsavanwiesner2473
      @khamsavanwiesner2473 5 років тому +1

      Agreed Neil, I think it works (for me) when i wear a clean dark jeans paired with a simple wool or linen pocket square. But like the double breasted jacket, it is something that won't work for everybody (doubled breasted with jeans and open buttons not for me). Everything else in this video is Ace!

    Love the casual weekend fedora look. I mostly have patch pocket sports jackets and blazers because of their laid back appearance. The option of not wearing a pocket square is interesting as I always reach for pocket squares when wearing these style of outfits. The fedora certainly adds a certain degree of confidence and self assuredness which does not go unnoticed. Great advanced level style channel.

    I absolutely enjoyed this video! the only question I have is about pocket square. In some of your pics I've seen online, you were wearing pocket square with sport coat & jeans! Honestly, I think it looked great. I agree with you that wearing a neck-tie would be definitely too much. But, pocket square not only looked great on you, it also added a little bit of elegance and sense of humor at the same time!

    I like the fedora with the plaid jacket, I totally agree with dropping the pocket square. I think the right color and material of a more casual tie can work. Of course everyone has an opinion. Our opinions are often based on the decade we developed our sense of style and where we were living. I live in the mid-atlantic, in what some would consider just outside of NYC. East coast vs west coast can make a big difference especially with those that came of age before the internet. I watch these videos to understand opinions outside of my own.

    ......I like your channel, but here is my take: 1. you can wear a tie with jeans and a blazer BUT, only a skinny tie, it keeps the siloette more slimmer and casual. 2. When wearing jeans and a blazer, the finish is essential, NO HARD BOTTOM SHOES!!! It makes the outfit too dressy and ruins the casual vibe ( the footwear is the key ALWAYS ). 3. If you do the pocket square, NO TIE. It works better as the only eye catcher, you could have done it with that turtle neck sweater look ( great hat also, nice touch there!! ). 4. If I go jeans and blazer with no tie, I generally go with a patterned sweater vest for pop ( the sweater vest is an underused artillery weapon ). It always provides that prep swing that's timeless style. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK 🔥 NICE JOB!!!

    Thanks. Interesting opinions on "Blazers" worn with jeans. I've worn Blazers with jeans on many occasions with pocket squares. It requires some thought, however, when done correctly, the look is often what I call "elevated casual". Hey Brian great video as always! Must say #2 and #5 was the best IMO. The colours on look #2 were spot on and look #5 is how I think people should be pairing jeans and jackets together: casually. I guess as you mentioned, it's best to go with a jacket that matches the jeans, rather than trying to find a jean that matches the jacket. One of the more (surprisingly) difficult looks to pull off without looking like you just picked out whatever was dry that day. Kudos! - Han

    1. The buttons of the jacket/sports coat I always think should be brown...be it dark or light, especially if you are wearing brown shoes/belt. I never wear black shoes/boots/belt with blue jeans, only dark or light grey. Don't know what you think about this???

    Nice. My hair is about your length, sometimes shorter but very fine texture. I bought a Wahl electric clipper a few years ago. It was the best investment I ever made. I started off keeping the sides trimmed in between visits to the barber and have gradually worked up to doing the whole head. Start slow and use a larger guard until you get a feel for what you are doing as you say. I do still go to the barber (not now obviously) because they do a better job but between visits it's a peach.

    The first and 3rd outfit is lit. Something I can relate to as I usually pair my blazer with denim pants. However, I’m always conflicted as to whether or not to use a pocket square for such a casual ensemble. What’s your take on this, Brian?

    Love how casually he mentions "...and on my wrist is a A Lange & Söhne Datograph... " as if it was a brand for socks :)

    Hey love the videos I was just wondering if you could address the new trend of Apple watches and where you think they fit in Men’s tailored fashion

    • @hespokestyle
      @hespokestyle  5 років тому

      Personally, I don't own an Apple watch. Just not for me. And I don't really understand the appeal. I mean, I want to get away from my phone most of the time!

    Nice video and I’ve learnt a few things. I never wear a pocket square in suit jackets because I can’t stand them. Just my opinion.

      Thanks again, Andrew. With a tie, a pocket square is a must. It can really help tie everything together more cohesively.

    I like how he goes to great lengths to describe each article of clothing and then casually notes he’s wearing a $50,000 ALS watch lol.

    In your opinion, would adding a lapel pin/lapel chain also make the blazer and denim look too formal?

      I'm honestly not a fan of either. To me, it looks rather affected.
