This video is depressing. When Alexander the Great was only 5 foot tall and so was Napoleon Bonaparte who was probably 5"6. Never understood the obsession of the West with height of men or women with value.
I’m 5’5 and have been retired for four years. Before that I worked in a government marketing department. My job took me from suits and ties to jeans and boots. I followed your advice for short men and always looked sharp. This is a great review of things you have shared over the years.
@whiteman-xtreme3998 if you look it up, there's healthy weight calculators online. For my height, sex, and age - healthy weight range between 121 -164 pounds is good. So, 150 is ideal
Recently found your channel. I'm a 5'9", married, straight feminine woman and I like your channel because 1) I can have discussions with my husband and son (10) about mens' fashion 2) I love to look at well- made, sophisticated clothing on men or women and 3) your topics sometimes apply to women, too (like proportion, Golden Ratio, fabric quality, etc). Keep up the phenomenal work!
I'm 6'3 and I live in Europe, trust me, you're absolutely right. It's a nightmare to find the right clothes that fits us. My shoulders requires me to wear L size but my waist is M, so I tend to buy cloth that looks oversized for me but M sizes would look worse.
Exactly. Clothes are either too short or too baggy for us. I prefer not to show my buttcrack, so unless i wear tailored clothes i go for the oversized look.
5'5 at 138 pounds. For sport coats, I wear 36s sport coats from Spier and Mackay. For dress shirts, I wear Charles Tyritt in extra slim fit. I get many compliments on the fit from friends and strangers. I hope this bit of information is helpful.
Do they do international shipping? We have literally the same body measurements and I always end up going to alteration services to have clothes I buy fit me well
Just lot of words. ...You talked a lot about body sizes and proportions but nothing much related to cloth and body. You made this video just for the sponser.
I'm 5'7" 68kgs and the rule of 1/3s works well That's led me to preferring high waist trousers. They are so comfortable (not tight around the crotch like most European-cut off the rack trousers) I live im Vietnam and recently had some clothes made in Hoi An. Fast, resonable quality and cheap
I looked at Peter Manning a while back, and their prices are insane, man. As a short guy I've had pretty good luck with Perry Ellis, as far as finding things that fit pretty well off the rack and aren't to insanely expensive. Peter Manning has lost their minds, man.
It’s really not. Just do your own thing and stop worrying what everyone else thinks about you. Dress nice if it’s what you like to do. Don’t do it too impress other people.
@@MadRhetorik. Right, exactly. Who wants to be a zombie of consumerism? Why broadcast to everyone that "I can't think for myself so I let others think for me"???
I’m 6’3” (and in my mid-70s); I have challenges implementing style recommendations from most UA-cam men’s style channels. This was the first video I’ve seen that intelligently addresses this topic, and in a way I can implement recommendations. Thank you. BTW - I watch your channel along with several other men’s style channels. Your channel most clearly articulates topics and provides the best suggestions.
Check out American Tall if you haven't heard of it. I'm slowly swapping out all my oversized clothes for proper fitting clothes. Just got some new sweaters this last week. Highly recommend
As a 6'3" fellow club member, the reality is that we are an unusual breed and therefore widely misunderstood by many style channels. In fact, anyone in the 6'3 - 6'7" bracket has very different proportions to someone that is 5'8" - 5'10". One has to also be mindful of one's build - you could be a lanky 6'7" athlete or a 6'3" hardass like Alan Ritchson of Amazon's Reacher fame.
I know all my sizes perfectly. I'm 5ft 5. Shirts 15" neck 39 chest, 32"arm/length. Jeans 31" waist 29" legs. Unfortunately some brands idea of what a 31" waist is amazes me. In the UK S is 30" inch leg, Regular is 32" and long is 34". It;s trial and error of which brands suit you best, I tend to stick with Ben Sherman, Farah, Common people, Charles Thywhitt, Lee and Levi
5'8 145 lbs I can honestly say the men's style community (Gentlemans Gazette and RMRS in particular) have helped me out immensely. I now have younger men at my job asking me for advice. Doing what I can to share the knowledge and links.
You know, as a tall guy who also works out (and has a rather wide frame naturally) the two biggest issues by far is even finding trousers that fit around my quads (most trousers don't have huge diameter legs) and over the shoulders (if it's wide enough over the shoulders it'll be like I'm wearing a 5-man tent most of the time, if it's too tight over the shoulders it restricts mobility and looks really weird). Doesn't help that proportionally I'm all torso no legs, a genetic freak if you will (not in the good way).
I am 5'10" and most of the stuff fits me of the rack. But I found so much value in all your other content. And I am very happy with my Thursday boots collection ❤👌 Keep up the good work, Antonio! 👏
I'm also 5'10" and 150-155lbs (depending on the day). My wife's always jealous of the fact that everything always just fits perfectly for me right off the rack, and my shoe size is always in stock. (I'm a US size 10.) Seems like as a guy, having 1's, 5's, and 0's in all my measurements makes stuff easy. I definitely feel vicariously frustrated for my wife, because she's on the other side of that situation (5'0" and size 5 US shoe).
I’m only 5’3 and it’s a fucking struggle. I have to try on everything, and embarrassed to say the mens pants even at the smallest size are too big for me. If I buy online I have to pray it fits or return it. I swear if I ever get rich i’m getting custom clothes made for me .
Agreed. I'm just under 5'4" and my wife is 5'2". It's really difficult to find clothes that fit properly. Especially since I have a shoulder width of a taller man, finding a shirt that has sleeves that fit is pretty much impossible, they all have to be shortened.
I'm lucky in the fact that my mom is my tailor, but what I do is go to the thrift store find something that is my size in the waist and then have her Hem or fit it wherever it's big. As a smaller guy I like slim fitting stuff.
Antonio - I have to say, the research and content you put in your videos is top notch. For me, it puts you a cut above the other style channels on YT. All the best, James (London, UK)
Great video Antonio. I'm glad you mentioned about the ratio of torso to legs and the need to fit your clothing to your specific body. I'm just over 5' 11" and my younger brother is a little over 5' 9" so I'm taller than him standing up. When we sit down next to each other though, he's about two inches taller than me. He takes after his dad and has a much larger torso than I do while I actually have somewhat disproportionately long legs for my height. It became an issue when he was in between cars and had to borrow mine to go to work as we'd constantly be having to adjust the seat for height and distance whenever the other used it. Our difference in proportions is very noticeable when it comes to clothes. We both have about the same waist, but his pants have to be significantly shorter than mine. Fortunately, our mom is a seamstress so we've always had well tailored clothing despite growing up relatively poor, and it's actually been noticed. I remember back in high school a guy in my class told me laughingly that his gf had told him she thought I was rich because all my clothes seemed to be custom tailored. In reality, though much of what I wore really was custom made, some pieces had been made from leftover scraps my mom had rescued from work. Well fitted clothing really does stand out.
Antonio, you need to make a video on how big a collar should be in order to be proportionate to your head size, shoulder size, and height. I'm talking about the collars on flannels, button-downs, and dress shirts. If you could make that video it would be awesome!!!
Thanks for the advice! I'm about 5'6'' and my head is quite big. So I think I'll take your advice about widening the shoulders to help out with that. Happy Holidays!
6’3” 190lbs. I can never find shirts that fit. If it fits in the body, the sleeves are too short. If the sleeves are long enough, the body is like a tent. Even slim cut, the sleeves are always a little too short.
I feel you, man. 6`2 185 lbs, L size tshirts are too baggy while good length wise, M size is great but often too short for my torso. I need to look for fullsized slim M's which are pretty hard to find. Mostly buy L's and ask a tailor to narrow them down.
@tern666 and @wl4446 if you haven't done so yet, consider checking out American Tall, 2Tall, Long John And Sons, Navas Lab, and Just Tall. They may just have what you are looking for. Good luck my fellow giraffes. Stay safe, stay awesome, and be well. 🙃✌️

I’m 5.7 and recently been out shopping. Noticed the 10 years ago when I was small nothing fit me, everything was L or XL, the slim fit clothes all sold out. Now, I’m much bigger and EVERYTHING is slim fit! Damn
I've figured out some of this through trial and error. You shouldn't wear raglans unless you have big shoulders, for example. I'm a bit shorter and have discovered that leaving the shirt untucked only works if it's had a tailor shorten up the hem. You don't want it to look like you're halfway to a mandress. Thin up the hairstyle to give yourself a smaller head, that's totally sound. Additional: layering button-down shirts looks good, and if your arms have some tone, roll up the sleeves. If you wear a puffer jacket, definitely get one with smaller segments instead of big, blocky squares. And while I don't always love the company, Levi's makes the best looking jeans, as the crotch runs higher and they drape better, get 511s. Recently, I picked up a Members Only jacket at a vintage shop for a 1980's Halloween costume, and now I wear it regularly. Damn the flashback style, that thing looks correct, just tuck in your shirt under it and let the waist be narrow, that and the epaulettes working up the shoulders... there's a reason they sold, you just have to own the look and you're good. Short is a handicap, don't let anyone lie to you, but also, don't let anyone lie to you and say you can't maximize what you've got. Looking like you care helps.
Here's an idea: a chain of custom tailor shops! You walk in, get your measurements taken, and after a week your clothes are ready, and for a decent price.
If it was truly that easy at 5’2 you can’t Taylor for being this much off of standard size lengths . Even if you Taylor most of the time the overall length and proportions are never correct.
5:53 so accurate. I’m 5’9”, 41in chest and 31in waist. I actually do get custom suits but people don’t believe I usually buy size L or even XL sometimes off the rack. I do tuck my shirts in fyi. Vanity sizing is real, if it’s a vintage item or made before 2000’s I’m a true medium
You mentioned Bangkok. If you go there, be vigilant about how you describe your needs. I had a bad experience, really a wasted trip, because I didn't stress enough that I wanted natural shoulders, and I ended up with built-up shoulders, such that I don't ever wear them.
Very nice. In the 1980s you could go into any department store and find dress shirts in exact collar sizes, sleeve lengths, and three shades of ease. Now? You're doing good to find a third of this selection which reflects how little most people care.
In UK the problem is the rise on the trousers. Low fitting is ok on slim younger guys, but over a certain age and waist size, and with a fuller bum, the trouser dont go up high enough, particularly at the back, so they feel like they're slipping down all the time.
I'm 5'8"/9 but not a big guy. It's not all about height as I'm very slim and that also makes things difficult. As you point out, it's things like leg length/arm length and chest etc that matter. I generally operate at the smaller end of the size scale and I find with dress shirts it can be tricky sometimes. There are a lot of guys who struggle more than me though.
I'm your height and 175. Finding dress clothes is a challenge. I stick to classic fit versus slim. If you like to dress casually like I do the. you have a lot more options. I feel like casual clothing is made for guys who aren't as skinny unless its H&M.
I'm 5ft 9in. I did weight at 265 lbs. I've shaved down to 226 pounds. My goal is stay focused on my target weight of 165. At that size i'll be a 42rX32w. I was looking for a quality company to start my Old Money, Dark Academia wardrobe. Thank you so much!
As a lanky man with rounded narrow shoulders and a disproportionate build having the torso of an 8 year old and limbs of someone 7ft, I totally agree with attempting to dress to balance yourself out. Also raglan sleeves are wonderful and finding companies that offer what fits you along with developing a good relationship with a tailor are great. Good video. 👍👍
Uncle antonio have helped me foreal as a 6.0 guy who are not much of banker i like to invest in the right peices the right choices & having free critique advices like this to consider when chosing is such a help i could not forget may god bliss you & provide you with more blissings
5’5”, 165 lbs currently (muscular) with 16+ yrs as a PMC (Private Military Contractor). I have never been too informed on fashion, I admit, but I’ve learned the value of dressing well and have begun to avoid baggy clothing unless I am just chillin at home. Slacks that fit well and don’t have a crotch line that falls too low is one of those hard learned lessons lol! I now generally avoid t-shirts when going out (wear ‘em at home) and stick to dress shirts of varying fabric depending on weather. So, a more casual dress style, I suppose! Also I avoid flashy graphics on clothes, and stick to solid colours. Same deal with shoes, I typically go with something subdued, though I would like to maybe buy more shoes that look “dressy” but for casual wear. I hope all the hot (war) zones I’ve been in have not made me shrink any further, else all my wardrobe will be for nothing! Imagine not being able to find a wife, ‘cause she can’t see me…LOL 😅
Hey I was actually looking to go into that line of work, no military experience looking to go in. Do you any advice on the PMC career path, finding the good jobs etc? Is Special Operations experience 100% necessary?
@@Prometheus7272 The field today as of 2024 is actually far different than it was when I entered it in 2004 while working on an IT contract at the Pentagon (for AFPCA - Air Force Pentagon Communications Agency via Lockheed Martin and its main subcontractor, whom employed me). Back then literally anyone with or without experience were easily able to get into these companies and even into roles that were well above their experience and skill level. I've heard of guys who became Team Leads for security teams that had ZERO experience and training - and in the majority of cases - ended badly for them, even with loss of lives. Some companies will take individuals that are healthy and physically fit, and offer training courses (as I went through) and you don't necessarily have to have any formal training or experience in the military and/or law enforcement. By and large though, most of the guys entering this industry do have those experiences. I would suggest, so long as you're relatively fit and healthy, medically, you could apply to most of these companies. Some are more stringent in who they hire, but most tend to operate in a security role - very rare for a PMC to function in an actual military capacity, unlike the one I work for which had its start as being built from covert spec. ops military teams from S. Africa. In short: Find some in your country, I believe most have websites you could apply directly on! If you do have some experience with the use of firearms, that's always a plus to state, otherwise many do offer training programs as part of the employment process. Again, most companies deal in the Security role and not military - at least in a public. Security roles aren't bad either, its good work, honest work even. Your clients may not always be good or honest, but its not any different than working any other job. You'll have good people you interact with and bad ones. Also: NO Spec. Ops experience is necessary, never has been. Its considered a major bonus of course, but not a direct requirement that I've seen any PMC state openly. I should add at the end here that there are numerous jobs as well that could range anywhere from Accounting to IT jobs with these companies. It goes without saying that you ought to let your interviewer know what it is you want out of the job so they could figure something out. Best of luck to you in your endeavors! :)
Ay just a little quick tip. Forget what you think your learning or trying to become . Just imagine what you actually want .. and act like you have that shot right outside your window right fckn now . The more you try the farther it will get . If you know then you know ….. that little change in your attitude will speak volumes in your near future in all aspects of your journey..
I´m 6´3 and usually I can find clothes off the rack, but sometimes I have a problem with shirts they´re either too shoprt or too baggy. I found that the Tommy Hilfiger Slim Fit Polos fit me perfectly.
I'm also 6'3" and I feel your pain. My torso is extremely long, so I can't buy anything that isn't in tall sizes. For basic tees, Eddie Bauer has been a godsend.
I'm a 5 foot 9 inch guy but have been referred to as "short" many times. And most jeans and trousers are 2 to 4 inches too long! I agree the answer is to invest time trying on clothes to find brands that fit, and avoid getting everything altered. Now I can often tell if something will fit just by looking at it.
At 6'5, I find casual dress much harder to get than more formal. Finding clothes when they are sold by measurements is so much easier than trying to find LT or XLT shirts.
Have shopped Peter Manning for a few years. Fair quality, but lack quality control in inseams and waist sizes-- they are all over the place. As far as your discussion and all the theory here, I would rather tell a guy just do some shopping, take a stylish friend, or work with a professional shopper in one of the better stores, and find what fits best, what looks best, what suits your lifestyle. I am 5'3" 160 pounds, and get a perfect fit out of David Donahue dress shirts. A trim fit 17 32/33 fits me like they're custom made. The key will always be how things fit and dressing for your age. Especially being shorter like me, baggy clothes are always just going to make you look dumpy. Get your pants hemmed and make sure your shirts fit! Add a nice belt, shoes, sports jacket, and you're good to go. Regards from Indiana!
6’6”, 370, 58” chest, long torso, 15” shoe. Literally nothing is made for me. I’ve learned to tailor my own clothes. Have to pay out the nose for nice clothes just to have to alter them. Love helping little ladies get things off high grocery shelves, but living in a smaller/norrower man’s world is challenging in every other way.
Im 6'7, when I dress like a biker I get a certain type of women. When I dress in a suit and tie I get another type of women. It's not rocket science. Now i'm married and don't give a shit. I never understood this fixation with height, until I lived in the US for a couple of years.
I swear I can picture Antonio, at events, sizing up so many dudes, and assessing proper Fit, Form, Fashion. I can picture his eyes looking HUGE, while he's holding onto his glass of beer/wine/cocktail. I can picture him doing that!
5'7, somewhat athletic here. As said in the video, learn what brands sell casual stuff (polos, jeans etc) off the rack that fits and buy them almost exclusively - for me, that's fresh clean threads and the perfect jean. At most, I have sleeves to hem. For tailored jackets/outerwear, if you know your key measurements, you can get super high quality stuff used with only minimal tailoring needed. Just get the shoulders and length right. You'll be replacing your jeans and polos periodically any way, but a great topcoat or suit will last forever, so invest a bit more here (along with resolable shoes). Unless you're very long torsoed and short, a 2 button suit will elongate your height vs 3. And for short guys, err slightly on the side of trim/fitted without going into the 2010s James Bond suit fit. Extreme fits won't age well.
🙏 Agreed! Learnt that , shorter sleeves , jackets / blazers or pants makes one look younger! Well tailored & fitting to our body shape clothings will make us look dressed right! 😊🙏 Thank You So Much Real Men Real Style channel for the illumination! Many Happy Good Blessings in Return to You! 🌷🌿🌎💜🕊
I'm 5'7" 185 and I'd have guessed Large would fit you quite well. Large is always too long for me, but your extra width may negate some of that annoying extra length.
Shawl is by far my favorite sweater style. I must have like 4-5 of them in sweater and cardigan styles. I'm 6'3" ish / 220 lbs, and for sure am cognizant of everything I wear, especially with long skinny legs. The worst part about being a bigger dude though, is the lack of shoe options. I wear 13W-13.5, sometimes 14. Wide feet. Many cool shoe options stop at 12 or 13 and for some reason, shoes just feel way more narrow nowadays than they should. For regular and dress shirts, jackets, and pants, probably 75% of my closet has been tailored. Having something fit your specific body type and walking out of the house looking trim just feels good. And I'm certain nearly everyone in your sphere notices that you always look on point. A properly fitted tshirt and crisp jeans can set it off too. Some things I own have been tailored more than once through the years and I get more dad weight/muscle. Glad stations like this exist. Btw, it's "all of a sudden"....anyway, Semper Fi!
I'm 6"5 tall. The current selling 'Modern fit' sportcoats are shorter in length, if you are as tall as I am, todays 'Modern Fit' Sportcoat won't look good on you. The last thing you want if your tall is to is draw attention to the length of your legs by wearing a shorter length sportcoat. Your coat will look too short as if you borrowed it from someone else. Modern fit sportcoats and suits are all we can find can find for sale to buy right now - to the extent that no one sells or manufacturers traditional length sportcoats anymore. Im personally ready for this Modern Fit coat fad to end
If Tom Ford is selling sportcoats in the traditional length he has an edge in today's market. Adversely, the clothes he sells cost thousands of dollars. Only Attorneys, Doctors and celebrities can afford to buy from him
Thank you Mr. Centeno and Team for making these videos! Proportions are key and once you realize this your attitude and reaction to it changes. I purchased a Peter Manning Red & White Gingham long sleeve shirt a while back and it still looks as it did when I got it, the material is top quality so investing in their clothes is well worth it.
I just buy clothes that fit, mostly, and just get everything tailored to fit me so I'm always looking alright. Sucks having different length arms.🤷🏾 I also gravitate to more structure in the shoulders but not overkill so that jackets look like they're wearing me.
5'6 here. My former roommate and I shared the same pants size and he was taller than me. I have trouble finding shirts that fit. I get around this by for example getting button downs without breast pockets and in general getting them adjusted
Good note about avoiding pockets. I just realized I do this too without even thinking about it, because the pockets always look look large, low, and ridiculous.
What!? He gave many useful tips, dress, according to your height and body type, limb length, etc. - try to balance out your body by choosing the right clothing that will make you closer to the Adonis proportion equation - be aware if you are really tall or short your head size will likely be out of proportion, which you can adjust through broadening your shoulders, or wearing a hat or adjusting hairstyle.. these are just some tips I remember on the top of my mind. If you think nothing of value was mentioned you probably were not paying attention.
5'7", 178 lbs, 44" chest, 31 waist, long legs, shorter torso, wide shoulders. 52 years old, but look early 40 something as I am often told. For decades I have been wearing khakis, flannel shirts, fisherman wool sweaters and dark trucker jacket. Don't care much for fashion. I wear what works for me. People say I got a vintage vibe.
As a decades long professional artist, I wouldn't use the word "average" when referring to the Golden Ration, I would say "proportional or symmetrical."
Fun fact... the golden ratio is used in EVERYTHING you see... its woven all throughout nature and appears to be designed not for just aesthetics, but function too...even DNA. Let that sink in. As a 6'3" 230 fit guy in his 40s (been this since my mid 20s) I didn't realize I have been subconsciously applying this to my "dress code" since I was in my 20s. Great video
Check out American Tall! I got furious as I was googling "tall NOT big clothes", "tall and skinny clothes" until eventually I typed something right and this came up. Can't recommend them enough.
I'm well above average height, with very long legs. A way I have found to de-emphasize my leg length is to go with cuffed pants (I usually get mine from Banana Republic or Bill's Khakis). Cuffs break the length of the leg up into segments, which reduces the overall apparent length of my legs, but the important thing is to go with taller cuffs than the standard 1-1/2". I go with 1-7/8", and that seems to be the perfect cuff height for me.
I'm pretty tall (190 cm/6'3") and I can tell you that finding jeans in my size is pretty annoying. And when you found them and say, I'll buy these from now on, the specific fit will go out of style and you have to start over again.
One thing short guys should never do is wear shoes that contrast a lot with their pants (or legs if they're wearing shorts). This cuts them off at their ankle and makes them look shorter. Short guys should also never wear pea coats, topcoats, or turtlenecks, as all will overwhelm a shorter/smaller body. In general, keep things as monochromatic, minimal, and simple as possible if you're under 5'10". I realize that's frustrating advice to hear if you like doing some of the things I mentioned, but if you did a side-by-side comparison you'd quickly see what I mean.
You’re wrong. A short person is going to be short regardless. These asinine rules do nothing but assign pointless limits. Maybe from a distance this advice is helpful, but once someone is within talking distance it doesn’t matter what you are wearing. Your height isn’t going to change or “appear” differently because you’re wearing different stuff. That’s not how vision works. I wear everything you stated and get more compliments and attention wearing that stuff than I do wearing the recommended “short person” stuff. Turns out. Wearing nice clothes is the way to go. Not trying to min-max how you appear to a random stranger 30 meters away. These “short person” dressing guides just prey on people’s insecurities and end up making them dress worse. Desperately want to look taller? Wear boots. That’s it.
I'm around 6 foot and have a massive autistic head with a massive beard and long hair. So I naturally gravitate to items that build up my rectangle/trapziod body with long legs to balance my way over sized head. And it works for me as well as make me look much more imprsive to go with my experience ad wisdom even at 28 years old.
genuine question: what do you mean by massive autistic head…? i’ve never heard that before, is that like an actual thing? or are you autistic and just being self-deprecating? is it a stereotype??
This has always been challenging for me. I'm average height but that's the only thing average. I have a very large head, wide neck, wide shoulders, wide hips, long torso, and wide legs. "Normal" cuts make me look like a human box, a guy whose clothes are too small/tight, or if I go up in size I look like a child wearing his dads clothes. When you have weird proportions it takes longer to find what works, and you have to try everything on, and preferably have people you trust go with you to get other objective opinions. When anything you do will emphasize one of your extreme traits, go with the ones that emphasize the more preferable extremes, like wider shoulders instead of a long torso/ bigger head. Going with no tie with 2-3 open buttons on my shirt, double breasted coats that are cut for wide shoulders but tighten in the torso (but not too much), dark suits, no whites or grays. All of these help me look more proportional, except that I still look quite wide but that's ok because I just am lol. Pants are always very difficult because I need a good middle ground to make them look longer without being too tight or too high so I often have to get them hemmed.
I think sizes of clothes in general are just totally non-standardized. I don't understand why I can't just have a size that universally works. You know XL means XL in all brands. But no, I could be a large through 2XL on shirts and they all feel the same. I'm 5'11 but the biggest problem with my clothes is the torso is never long enough. I raise my arms and it becomes a belly button shirt cause it lifts so high. I have to shop big and tall usually just to get shirts that are comfortably long enough to not do that. But then the B&T stuff usually have huge comically big collars. I don't have a 22 inch neck that is 12" inches tall, but apparently B&T shoppers do I guess. What this world needs is a better measuring system isn't just generic "XL" as if that covers everything from shoulders to length to neck to sleeves etc. We need measuring that tells us all the number so we can accurately shop for ourselves. Good luck shopping for clothes on the internet, no size really means what it means, but we would be shipping back fewer clothes if we could just shop by real numbers.
Thanks Antonio, this is one your better videos in recent times . One doubt : should the ratio of head - waist to waist - ground be 1.61 or should the ratio be from shoulder to waist to waist to ground be it? . Also I am 6'4, with a lean athletic body, and your video was very helpful.
Great video Antonio! Also, I happened to watch this video on my way to NYC for the Thanksgiving weekend and decided to pay a visit to Peter Manning's NYC store. It was so refreshing to try on clothes that fit just right! Thanks to your code I was able to get a great discount on my order. Thank you!!
I'm 54, 6'-1" and weigh 240 pounds - athletic frame - and I also have a masters degree. People always mistake me for either a cop or a mobster. I'm trying to find the right balance with my clothes. I'm a pretty simple guy but I've found that the more expensive clothes have a better fabric that just lays really nice on my body. I'm also dealing with having to get everything tailored. I'm right between XL and XXL - even some XXL is snug in the arms/neck/shoulders. If you haven't already, can you do a video for us bigger (but not fat) guys?
I'm 6'1 and 160lbs and my sister is 5'7 and roughly a little under 150lbs. We are able to wear the same clothes. On occasion even the same shoes as I have incredibly small feet for my height 😅
Thank you for this valuable video. For years, I have tried to figure out why some things look fantastic on me, whereas others do not, although they are the same size. I am about to retire. So, one might say that I do not need to worry about this now. However, I still want to be even more stylish now that I have a better idea about what that means. So, a tailor is on my list of friends to embrace, and hire (LOL)!!! By the way, I am around 5'10" and still in decent shape. So, why not look my very best? This video is depressing. When Alexander the Great was only 5 foot tall and so was Napoleon Bonaparte who was probably 5"6.
Never understood the obsession of the West with height of men or women with value.
I’m 5’5 and have been retired for four years. Before that I worked in a government marketing department. My job took me from suits and ties to jeans and boots. I followed your advice for short men and always looked sharp. This is a great review of things you have shared over the years.

I'm 6'3 and I live in Europe, trust me, you're absolutely right. It's a nightmare to find the right clothes that fits us. My shoulders requires me to wear L size but my waist is M, so I tend to buy cloth that looks oversized for me but M sizes would look worse.
Clothes shopping makes me appreciate being 5’9
Exactly. Clothes are either too short or too baggy for us. I prefer not to show my buttcrack, so unless i wear tailored clothes i go for the oversized look.

A 15 minute video with no visual examples is just terrible.
Yup, it's just rambling.
That’s what I love about being average height, I never deal with clothing too long or too short in the arms. Most clothing fits me well.
I appreciate that!

You don't have to be rich, you can find a local tailor to hem the lengths of pants for an affordable price or find tutorials online to do it yourself
All the best,

He's a "Sitzriese"

I can honestly say at 5’6/7 I’ve purchased from Peter Manning and the Jeans and Chinos fit! Thanks Antonio for the great content.
I am 5''6 well built and I have never really found it difficult to find clothes. I am into my fashion as well
5:53 so accurate.
" Guys who are well under 5'9 " Love the considered formulation ! lol

Obesity ruins everything, we should push back against this "body positivity" thing.
At 6'5, I find casual dress much harder to get than more formal. Finding clothes when they are sold by measurements is so much easier than trying to find LT or XLT shirts.
I’m 6’6” 240 and also have a hard time finding nice clothes to fit. Most big and tall is just Big. Great ideas and helpful topic.

The Golden Ratio is a myth. The Greeks and Italians never applied it like this.

I'm 5'7" 185 and I'd have guessed Large would fit you quite well. Large is always too long for me, but your extra width may negate some of that annoying extra length.
I have that Johnny bravo style body.
Every shirt has to be extra long
Shawl is by far my favorite sweater style.
Totally agree. TOM FORD said jacket s should go over the butt not halfway making them look even bigger.

This guy just talked for 15 minutes and didnt give any actual useful information

Eh. You probably weren’t paying close attention. Antonio spoke about proportions. So don’t wear clown shoes or a clown tie if you’re 5’6” or shorter.
You Just weren't listening
I’m 5’8 slim with wide shoulders and a thick neck big ups on the Peter manning recommendation
Beating around the bush entire time.
I'd like to see Peter Manning carry more heritage style colors and weights in shirts. Like Portuguese Flannel, Outerknown, Iron Heart etc.
I'd say dressing for your proportions is more important than dressing for your height.
Great video, very helpful. thank you,
I think he didnt recognise you
@@binder946 He definitely didn't recognize you.
Yooo! Hello beloved!
Loved you on GeneralSam’s podcast
In summary:
Find a shop that sells clothes that fit you
Definitely one of your best videos. I'm probably going to come across as a bit pedantic but the pronunciation of El Guerroj is Geh-Rouge.
Wilt Chamberlain was very stylish
Fun fact... the golden ratio is used in EVERYTHING you see... its woven all throughout nature and appears to be designed not for just aesthetics, but function too...even DNA. Let that sink in. As a 6'3" 230 fit guy in his 40s (been this since my mid 20s) I didn't realize I have been subconsciously applying this to my "dress code" since I was in my 20s. Great video
I'm 6ft5, almost 6ft6. I'm tall by any human standard 😂 Shopping for clothes is always a struggle
My biggest issue are shoes. I'm 6ft5 (196cm) 85-87kg, i know that feel bro.
@diogorua7126 Also 6'5 and I wear in between a 13 and 14, preferably 14
Check out American Tall! I got furious as I was googling "tall NOT big clothes", "tall and skinny clothes" until eventually I typed something right and this came up.
Can't recommend them enough.
as a short guy i got a lot out of the video - thanks
As a tall guy I got nothing out of it lol. Except "wear stuff that looks wrong"...
Legends has it, that sweater button of his, fits perfectly into the Fibonacci swirly thingy.
Or don't worry about what people think of you.
I'm pretty tall (190 cm/6'3") and I can tell you that finding jeans in my size is pretty annoying. And when you found them and say, I'll buy these from now on, the specific fit will go out of style and you have to start over again.
Still waiting for any actual advice how to dress properly after 14:25 mins of repeated useless talk.
Wish I heard advice like this years ago. I'm old now and learned the hard way by making many mistakes.
As a tall guy (185cm), I prefer fitted clothing. Baggy clothing does give off a sloppy aesthetic.
Thank you!!
That was almost a lot of information and ended up being none, amazing.
6.5 reporting sir !
Is it always better to be feared than respected 😂😂
I'm 6'1 and 160lbs and my sister is 5'7 and roughly a little under 150lbs. We are able to wear the same clothes. On occasion even the same shoes as I have incredibly small feet for my height 😅
I struggle a lot shopping being 6’6 and 230lbs. Suits I need a 48 in the chest but pants I need a 32/32
Thank you for this valuable video. Thank you RMRS for your invaluable information!!! You really nailed this one!
Amazon now sell pants where you can actually state your leg and waist measure - worked great for me
