Man "O" Man, i have been messing with this problem for 2 weeks and came across your post. My tank is partially dropped with the plug off, im trying this today and let you know how it turned out. Thank you again for "taking the time" to post this! Much appreciated! Liked and subscribed!
On the day of the eclipse I found your video.. I've been trying to figure this out for a while... MY TRUCK IS RUNNING thanks to you.. real talk. I did like and I did subscribe.. I can't thank you enough sir. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
Bro you should win an award for doing what no one else has done, putting it in laymans terms, ignore wire colors just match pin locations A to A and so on.. Thank You!!
Man, thank you for saving me hours of headaches, I knew something wasn't right, so I did my YT search, watched 5-6 videos with no clear explanation... Your 4 minute video was clearer, more straight forward and to the point. Have a beer on me!
You are the man! I wired my new fuel pump according to the instructions that came with it. I got no fuel pressure at all but I could hear the pump running but had 0 fuel pressure. I rewired it with your method truck fired right up! Thank you so much! I was going to pull the pump out and return it I thought it was bad!
I’m having the same issue as 65 I can hear the pump and everything but no pressure. I’m going to go re do it now I know I can just look at the letters on the connectors… the instructions should say that instead of ( rear view) thanks bro.
Thanks a lot I was wondering why the plug in was different but now after watching your video I know how wire a fuel pump up now thanks a lot God bless you sir
This isn't a hack, this is straight and simple science...minus the junk yard part. I matched the letters, connected the wires accordingly, and tested it before installing anything. The pump hums. The color codes are good for not much.
Thank you so much. I wired mine by the instructions . I was second-guessing it. I'm so glad I watched your video. I would have burnt the pump up. Thanks
Thanks for the tip. The new fuel pump I bought swapped to the flat four and the instructions that came with it were completely wrong. Followed your instructions and it fired right up.
Thank you! Your oval connector looks like original equipment GM. New oval connectors that come with new pumps (made in China) do not have A B C D marked. .
All the cheap Chinese replacement GM pump kits come with that flat 4 pin connector. If your harness has the square plug, and you don't wanna cut up your harness, you have 1 option. Buy an AC/Delco pump. it's the same as factory. Mine cost over twice the cheap one, but at least I know the connection will be cleaner. Also, on some models, (mine a 2003 Buick Century), has a couple metal bosses sticking right up between the square connector, on the spanner nut. If you wanna use the cheap pump, not only do you cut of the plug, you need ta cut off the 2 bosses, cause they're in the way of the new connector. Don't know the reason for those 2 bosses. Like to know what application (this guy showed the flat 4 pin connector), came off of. PITA job.
I've got a 01 four winds your pump looks like mine( 8.1) will one from a 04 suburban 5.3 work in place of the original? Square plug colors are different
I noticed you're missing a fuel tank pressure sensor, and the three pin connector that connects it. You only have the four pin, just like me. However I just got a code saying I needed a new fuel tank pressure sensor, but I don't have even have one installed, not a three pin connector in the 4pin connector harness
@@goodbyeUSA yes, I don't remember the color scheme now, I would have to undo it all to know what colors went where. I just did a lot of searching with my chassis info and the pump and eventually found close diagram. Once I attached them is still had an incorrect reading on my fuel gauge. Switched two of the wires and everything worked fine. Look for new harness connection photos. If you look at the connector with clip facing up and away from you, left to right is A,B,C,D. If you still need help I'll right down all the connections.
You used the WORST way to connect those wires. Thay style of connector cuts into the insulation and makes contact with the wire within, also lets dirt, water, etc. in too.

Did she fire up for you?
The hack is to install the parts that came in the box.

What if there are no letters on new connector for airtex E3982M fuel pump
Did you figure it out? I'm in the same boat right now trying to figure this out. I'm going to try and make it work though.

my new wire harness doesnt have a b c d. what now?
Thanks again
Watch out guys, I saw another vid and the flat connecter was marked from left to right..... D B A C. It is not always as in alphabet order.

I agree . You should use wire connection
You saved me bro worked well ' second clip didn't say any letter' but I followed it from left to right working now ' paper instructions was wrong
