Believe it or not my truck (91 f150) is down right now...been down since Saturday...had to order the relay as the only relay for my truck locally was the tow one...I'm changing the fuel pump & ecm ? relays...supposed to be here Saturday...hoping that fixes the problem I am curious what that relay with the wires and block is called...I like it & want one for the 95 Isuzu I'm working on that is also not running 🤔😟...fuel pump issue...got a new pump but not sure about the relay for it as it's always given me trouble...would shut down...I'd have to crawl under the car & unplug the pump from the harness...replug it in & it'd start right up again & run perfectly till the next time I filled it up 😟🤔🤨
You may have thicker wires from your new relay / socket, but you then joined them to the thinner weaker wires, so if the wires were the issue of the corrosion / melting it will still happen as the wires are still the same where they come out of the old relay socket. You really need to remove and relace the old wires to prevent any issues reoccurring otherwise the thicker new wires are a pointless addition as the thinner weaker wires are still going to be the weakest link.
Seems like both. The relay was intermittent. May have caused the pump to burn out. One nice thing is that the check engine light went out so the truck must be happy now.
@@TheDoItYourselfWorld what burn the pump out guy was plowing with and only had 5 gal at a time never cover the fuil pump in the tank pump it u go be low a 1/4 of a tank it like a nuker power plant it the rod dont have enfo water to comer the rods it melt down in your case not enfo gas and the pump burn up

You know your from northern Michigan if you hot glue wires at the board lol, hey it works who cares what we say!! I say good job , keep em coming brotha
I wonder if that is a more common issue with these trucks. I think its a broken wire from the computer to the relay. I could not trace it tho so I ended up wiring in a toggle switch later.

The orange wire does that go to pin 87 on the relay and is that orange wire hot all the time even with the key in Off position and out?

I am thinking rather its the heat in the relay contacts that caused failure since the wires were fine.
Or arching in the relay socket
Wow..great job Troy!!! Amen!!
Thank you
Nice job of tracking down the issue.

So was it a bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay? Or both?
Seems like both. The relay was intermittent. May have caused the pump to burn out. One nice thing is that the check engine light went out so the truck must be happy now.
