- UPDATE: I've received reports of people who successfully used the mouse accel driver with Valorant. I should've tried it myself before putting out the video lol. Faceit still blocks it however, so keep that in mind. - *The Minecraft-style FPS is called Sector's Edge.* It's free to play on steam! Check it out here: store.steampowered.com/app/1024890/Sectors_Edge/ - There is a new kind of mouse accel available now called Raw Accel. It plays nice with anticheats and it's got a more intuitive UI: github.com/a1xd/rawaccel
There was a pro CSGO player who used mouse accel (can't remember his name and don't follow the acene anymore). The issue with accel is it used to be very inconsistent but you can get used ro it I imagine. That's also why optical sensors are preferred as laser sensors usually have built in accel to function iirc
I watched the video thinking it would be cool to try Mouse Accel and then I realised I had it on for all these years. Man... I feel like a colorblind person watching a video about colorblindness and wondering how it'd feel like being colorblind.
Watched this video a year ago, came back today after over a year of using mouse accel in FPS games such as Valorant, CSGO, Overwatch and Apex. I decided that after me using it I would give my thoughts on how it went and how I feel about the use of accel in competitive FPS games and why now I am deciding to stop using it. TLDR: PROS: -Good for arcade shooters with fast paced combat such as Apex and Overwatch -Very versatile for how you want to use it -Allows for more precise longer range movement and faster flicks if used correctly CONS: -You never get perfect consistency with it compared to static sens -It is harder to get perfect flicks in tense situations -A lot harder to be precise all of the time -Good luck getting it installed on LAN machines at a tournament -God help you if the game you are playing has inbuilt mouse accel already. Fucking NYOOOOM SPEEDS (Thanks Crossfire) For background on me. I have played FPS games at a decently high elo since I started playing CSGO back in 2013 so I have had a good place to showcase where I started with the whole ordeal. I had been GE in CS, GM in Overwatch, Diamond in Valorant and Diamond 2 in Apex. I decided to use mouse accel because Overwatch was becoming my main game very fast so I decided the idea of having a mouse accel with it would work very well since I always had issues with mouse mat space and played many different heroes which I had mixed sens with. I used to do aim training very often on AimLab and Kovaaks. This was imperative in me deciding on if the driver was worth it over a year later. I play with a high sens (ESENS = 5000~ in Overwatch) and always had trouble with longer range engagements since it would be hard to move my mouse just a tiny bit to keep hitting shots. My mid/close range was my speciality so I considered having my mouse accel graph focus on this with my normal mouse movements being 1.0 output to input, my slower movements being 0.7 and my fast flicks being capped at 1.3 in a linear graph. It wasn't such a difference to deeply impact my playstyle but enough so that I hoped it would make a difference. I started using the driver in June 2020 and began my grind to get used to this new mouse playstyle. It took a while, I had some of my deep muscle memory fighting me at times but because of how I made my graph a lot of the time the normal default shots would hit their mark. The issue at first began with flicking. When I would flick I would hard over flick since I wasn't used to the change in sens. And as a flick aimer, was an issue for a while. Valorant didn't allow me to play for a while and CS FaceIt also restricted the driver. So, I moved to Overwatch Overwatch was where the driver showed it's potential. I had up until early 2020 been a hard DPS main of McCree and Genji, but I had different sensitivities for both of them since Genji required faster flicks and McCree was more about accuracy. With the driver it meant that using the same sens as both McCree and Genji I could have more consistency since I would have my fast flicks matched to my Genji sens but then in neutral I would have my McCree sens allowing for more precision. This also meant that my flicks were getting more consistent on other characters since it matched to what I had been used to. Using the driver I began to climb, whether this was due to my understanding increasing with joining my University team or because the driver, I cannot say. However, I began to swear by the driver throughout all of 2020 and told several of my friends about it - they didn't get the driver though. The potential was there and I was showing results with the driver. By this stage Raw Accel came out and I was able to swap to other games again since it wasn't detected by Anti-Cheat software. I was, however, dedicated to Overwatch at this point and grinded it for another half a year. Entering 2021 I wanted to compare my aim to what it was now with how I left it before. So, I booted up the old AimLab just like I had over a year ago and did the aim training again. I know what you are saying - "But you hadn't been aim training for the year so your aim would have gotten worse". So, I did the aim Lab for a month, consistently. And the results shown a dramatic decrease in my overall aim. It was hard to pinpoint overall why my aim had gotten worse but I ultimately put it down to the fact that I could never get a perfect consistency with the mouse accel. Even if I moved the mouse in the exact same manner every single time there would be minute differences which would throw off my aim. The benefit of having flat sensitivity is that in panicky circumstances you flick your mouse and shoot, every single time it is the same distance, every single time it is the same. My flicks were not improved with the accel, the tracking had not improved with the accel and surprisingly enough, my long range also had not increased with the accel. This last point was the most shocking since it was one of the major reasons, I swapped to it. Ultimately, I decided myself that despite the benefits the mouse accel had shown and how much I enjoyed using it for the entire year. For me, it just didn't show good results. I don't speak for the entirety of the population. Some love and swear by mouse accel, but after a year of use, I do have great aim with it still. However, I feel that before I had it my aim was more consistent and realistically the accel was just substituting for me changing my sens on different characters but with different steps. So, from this week I have moved back to flat sens since I had quit Overwatch until it gets better again. Here's hoping I can get back to my prime like I was over a year ago. This was my rant on how I spent a year of my life trying out mouse accel and how I feel it realistically, didn't impact my aim for the better all that much. As the video said "You will only ever be as good as you actually are." And turns out, with aim accel. I am not good. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
I enable mouse accel for a few weeks, then disable it, and I've been like this for 1 year now, I see no major difference in my aim with mouse accel or not, but in 2D games like osu and aim trainers like kovaaks and aim lab (yep, they're 3D but you're basically aiming at a wall) I've noticed that... you actually do much worse than with a linear sensitivity, sometimes you end up in very awkward positions with your wrist fully extended and your arm touching the wall, its just a disaster, you'll always change your "neutral aiming position" with mouse accel in a 2D enviroment, so I don't think you can see real improvements or results of using mouse accel in those kind of games
@@78diegox The main thing about games like Kovaaks and OSU in regards to aim training and just precision in general is that it doesn't usually test your aiming ability with a decent amount of the modes (in regards to Kovaaks) but rather your comfort with your sens. OSU mainly is about matching your clicks and flicks with when you are hovering over the target similar to flick training but in a 2D environment. The downside of using accel in this situation is of course the one I mentioned before with flicking that means you cannot have precision as easily. OSU is one of those games where mouse accel is not made for it and it really shows if you tried to play a game with it. At least in my opinion.
I love these comments where the commenter gets self conscious about how long their essay got and add a lil extra touch to the end of it XD man i do that all the time tell ya wat
But you still can improve! The thing most people forget is that you do routine(including gaming) at an optimal level your brain is comfortable auto-piloting. IE if you don't make explicit effort to improve or face challenhe from better players you will quickly plato. Make that effort. Try thinking mid game at how to do things better. I was legit shocked when my logical part of conciousness straight up admited I am doing stupid mistakes on auto-pilot like feeding kills in disadvantegous engagements. Remembering to aim for the head mid gunfight netting a win. Thinking on how to juke the enemy around an obstacle and so on. Once you start doing that your level will catapult from the average. Also remember that there are two parts of your mind: logical and rationalizational. First allows you to analyze things and make concious decisions, use it more. Second will try to shift the blame of mistakes on outside factors like teammates or luck, don't give in to it. There is a reason someone plays like a pro and someone doesn't, and it is not DNA unless you're a disabled person.
similar story of when i bought my new laptop, i accidentally turned on mouse accel when setting my pointer speed, ive been using it for almost 4 months now
I saw pingify at the local Walmart once he kept trying to sneak out the door around the theft sensors with his cargo shorts pockets filled to the brim with snickers, but the guards kept stopping him. Eventually he said haha you got me guys but then he did what can only be described as a “sick juke”. He broke the security guards ankles, causing him to fall down, and threw a snickers bar (king size) up over the sensors and caught it on the other side at a dead sprint. I haven’t seen him again since, but I’d like to think he’s still running.
I come back to this video every so often purely for nostalgic value at this point. I first watched this video right as it came out, and it was the first vid of Pinguefy that I've watched. Ever since then, I've used mouse accel, and that was almost 4 years ago. This video came out at the perfect time for me, specifically during that period I've really wanted both low and high sens at the same time, more so because I've played a couple totally fundamentally different games, each requiring different sens, but also just wanted the benefits of both. Lotta time passed, RawAccel came out, still using mouse accel. Thank you Pinguefy!
It very interesting to see an in depth FPS aiming technique video with such calm atmosphere. Kinda reminding us that these games in the end should still be fun to play.
@@xltcrusher yes absolutely. Since mouse accel is so ridiculously inconsistent, with minimum practice with ur normal sensitivity ull already be a lot better
I love this channel. He's a guy who always wants to learn new, wants to do more stuff and MASTERED it. If he wants to go for something, he does it. And he doesn't stop after just one day like me. What i wanna say this guy needs more subs and more views. Keep it up man!
If anybody is wondering: Sector's Edge is now free on Steam without needing to get any beta keys. They had officially released it to be open on Steam on Oct. 30
lmao yeah, I am horrible with keeping regular content and also doing streams. That said, I've got some ideas for videos that take a while to actually accomplish, like getting good with alternate keyboard layouts. I'm not the type to put out something half-baked!
@@pinguefy yea your right I should tune more into your streams lol I just keep forgetting. also, the unregular content upload doesn't bother me too much cuz the quality is great and if I want to see more I can just go on your twich so keep doing what ur doing lol ily no homo
why 5 hours ago and for your information i just realized i had been using mouse accel my whole life and its really good, just because your shit at it doesnt mean everyone else is
I started using this and it changed my game 180 degrees. I finally feel as comfortable on mouse and keyboard as I did on a controller. PC gaming just wasn't fun for me until I started using this accel.
i've been using window's accelerator for maybe 15 years? i don't have much desk space and much room to get a big desk for huge mousepads. but now that i know there's other accelerators that are made for better customization i'm gonna have to try it out! great vid btw
i just realised i had the shitty microsoft one on and i have no idea how i got decent aim out of it. i understand getting pretty good aim if you know it is on, but i thought that speed didn't matter. now i need to learn to aim without it
Got dammit Piguefy, making me question everything I’ve ever held as gospel when it comes to shooters. I’m never going to try accel personally, as I use a relatively high sensivity where a wrist flick will give me a nice 180 turn, but now you’ve put me at a permanent state of unease. As soon as you said that you would keep using it, I already knew you mindfriggled me for the next 6 months. However, this is totally offset by the fact that this video is a masterpiece just like you and your whole channel. Stay awesome
Really good video, most people who I talk to about mouse acceleration tend to be heavily biased towards having it turned off. The fact that you decided to try using mouse acceleration for 2 months after playing without it is insane, so you have my respect in that regard. You also raise a lot of good points, but in regards to the windows mouse acceleration I felt like I could share my experience with it, since I definitely didn't find it terrible, but it had it's shortcomings for sure. I used to play with windows mouse acceleration since I was 10. I'm 22 now and turned it off a couple of years ago (playing without any kind of mouse accel). Since then, I've found that making large changes in aim with my mouse (flicking to the edge of the screen for example) is not really any harder or easier, and still comes down to muscle memory in the end. However it is definitely more exhausting to do repeatedly without any kind of mouse acceleration. The biggest difference I found was in making small pixel precise movements (for example, hitting a very small target at long range when you are already aiming in that general direction). With windows mouse acceleration turned on, it is difficult to make these small adjustments in aim quickly, since the difference between aiming too much and too little is extremely small, making it difficult to just react and hit the shot (though not impossible). Without any kind of acceleration, I've found this kind of movement to be a lot more consistent (though still hard). Additionally, making a smooth consistent movement with your mouse is extremely hard to do with windows mouse acceleration enabled, as you need to maintain the acceleration that you initially start with in order to keep it smooth. For FPS this generally applies to tracking your target, but can be offset by changes in movement and distance. As such, I found that this primarily applied to playing OSU! where specific beatmaps require this kind of movement. Overall, I don't think it matters too much if you have windows mouse acceleration enabled or disabled, as it comes down to some form of muscle memory in the end.
I did not mind it too for the longest time, but when i turned it off my aim became way better and much more consistent. It might be that windows curve is shit
Tbh, when i disabled the window acceleration, the mouse speed was so damn slow, that i had to max out the mouse movement speed, untill i turned the mous accel back on, and i still have max mouse speed and accel on, but my aim is quite good, just, the fps is my problem of having quite a bad aim
I've used it for a good few months now, and I won't go back. My sens was always either too fast for R6 or too slow for Apex, and InterAccel solved that problem. It didn't take any time at all to commit to memory, and it feels just as natural as no acceleration before.
Me too, for almost 1 year I have been using mouse acceleration in csgo (the version of the game) and the truth is that I feel that month is more comfortable like that, when I started, they told me all the time to deactivate it, but since I started it When using it, I feel that I can have a better positioning of the crosshair when playing and curiously more control when doing flicks or spray transfers.
That's actually really interesting because I never really found something I'm entirely comfortable with. I either have to sacrifice precision for speed or the other way around. I'm definitely gonna try this out and see if I like it or not. Thanks for bringing this up and opening discussion about such a generally disliked thing!
My thoughts exactly, I used to play with a really high sens, I lowered it and saw quick improvements since I was more precise. Right now I still have it fairly high but I don't want to lower it further because it just doesn't feel right to me. I'm very excited to try this, could be the key to achieving the precision I want while still being satisfying.
My sens in warzone was 850 dpi and like 11 ingane sens, now i have went down to 800 dpi and 8.33 ingame sens im more accurate now but i dont feel confident in cqc fights anymore
In the end humans are highly adaptive, I consider every method still a method, it's not always the best being the best for one individual. And if it isn't: it can be one day.
It pisses me off how good you are. Like Its gonna take me years to get there. But that's the name of it. No one starts off amazing. I can bet it's taken you years to get there. In that case I'm not mad. I'm just gonna get back to practicing!
@@pinguefy I have 3k hours on tf2 and 4k hours on cs and I'm pretty sure your aim is better than mine. Now I kind of regret wasting so much time chilling in the tf2 mario kart map and playing hide and seek in csgo, can't say it wasn't fun tho
This video was really interesting, I think that mouse accell has a similar stigma to motion aiming in games. It's been shunned due to bad examples but when implemented well and learned it can bring a real benefit. I would recommend watching Nerrel's "Motion Control and the Rejection of Progress", I found it really interesting. One point to be made for not using mouse accell is availability, if someone is using different machines then mouse accell might not always be available so the argument could be made it's better to learn without it so you aren't dependent on it. Although your video shows that aiming skill is fairly transferable between states so it shouldn't be a massive issue unless at tournament level. Thanks for the video.
@@RoryT32 Man, what about my mouse control panel (I mean it was with the mouse not windows one) is it working with rawinput1 ? Or for example in apex legends when mouse acceleration is off
I had been playing with mouse acceleration for almost my entire time using a computer, I didn't realize that mouse acceleration was labelled as "enhance pointer precision" so I thought it was always turned off. In games, I would always turn mouse accel off because I thought that's what I had been using. So, I was just constantly switching between mouse accel on and off when playing games to going to my desktop.
I wouldn’t call it muscle memory for fps games. Very few people could look at a position, close their eyes and flick to that position. I would call it eye-hand coordination. Thats why you get used to a new sense very fast and why you managed to learn mouseacel in just 2 weeks
@@the1ultimatet1u49 not really, if it was, great aimers would be constantly paranoid about how dirty their mousepad is, if their sensor is slightly dusty, if their positioned at the exact ideal spot at their desk, if theyr monitor is at a specific distance. But in reality its not a big deal because your brain doesnt "remember" a sens, it might get used to a sens and find it the most comfortable but thats because you only used those specific muscles, for example someone who plays on high sens mainly uses their wrist and fingers while a low sens player leans into their arm to aim. and when they switch sens theyre using a muscle to aim that they never did before, infact its pretty helpful to train on different sensitivities for faster improvement. Personally im more indecesive with my sens than a toddler at a candy shop but im still fairly decent (not great, many areas to improve at, esp smoothness) at aiming
I've always played on PC with enhanced pointer precision on. For oldschool COD-style shooter it just works for me, because I've learned to flick to turn and then get the nice slow sensitivity for tracking targets.
it's also a godsend for dual and triple monitor setups for productivity. if i had to drag my mouse 4 times over the whole mousepad every time i want to go from far left to far right of the screens, i'd just fucking end myself tbh.
its a simple as getting a mouse with dpi buttons on it.. u can set the dpi settings and attach to a color, then switch from color to color based on what you're doing.. eg. i play on 800 dpi for gaming, and i like 1000 dpi for using the computer.. i have 800 setting tied to blue, and 1000 setting tied to red... very easy to switch back n forth
@@BLo0DLuST831 but then it's awkward to aim at the icon, unless you're suggesting constantly changing your sensitivity whenever you want to click on a button
Holy shit it really works! I had been playing Left 4 dead for years as a teen with very high sens. I've lowered my sens over time due to my age not being able to keep up with the settings. Though to this day I'm still using 1.8 sens in source engine games with 2000 dpi which is considered high sens. I have a hard time adapting to games like csgo and even Apex Legends as my aim is too sensitive. But there's no way I can get used to low sens as a high sens person. I decided to give this a try in Apex with the "mouse acceleration is bad" mindset. But holy shit, this really does what I wanted for years! I'm finally able to flick shot with shotguns and control recoil at the same time! I thought I've lost the ability to flick shot but this reminds me of the good old days. These first person shooters have become fun and satisfying to play once again, thank you for talking me into trying.
It's good to see someone approach this topic today because as you touch on, players have had very poor choice when it comes to mouse acceleration. This has lead to ignorance about the concept. I recommend taking a look at mouseacceleration.com/ where you can try out the software Custom Curve. This uses the same mechanism and driver as povohat, but lets you manipulate the curve using a GUI, which allows you to find a nice setup much more quickly and easily. There are fewer complex numbers and terms to deal with. It's much more user-friendly. There's also an active discord community. Highly recommended.
hearing u say 'stupid low sensitivity' & showing the literal exact sens i used (1.6 @ 300dpi) brought back memories of returning 2 fps games after a few yrs of inactivity & developing actual tendonitis in my shoulder after 4 straight hours of playing i never knew it was actually that hard, i couldnt raise my arm 4 a full day, i always thought my friends were joking when they said it was like throwing a punch every time u flicked
For the adjusting to the new style. Me and my friend decided to switch to inverted mouse just for jokes (moving the mouse up makes you look down). It was really strange to begin with but after a month it became pretty much normal. After a couple of months I was back to the same skill level as I was before
As someone with thousands of hours in shooters (csgo mostly), I can say that I’ve grown accustomed to mouse accel. I’m a very aggressive pusher/entry fragger that needs to be able to flick from areas if the first area I’m preaiming doesn’t have an enemy but say somewhere where if I had mouse accel off would be outside of my normal sensitivity range (yes I know this isn’t really a problem for me now because I have a full desk mousepad but years ago when I first used mouse accel I had a small ass mousepad). I love the ability to go from my semi low sense to flicking across the screen by whipping my hand across my desk (which, from years and years of using mouse accel, I’d say I’ve actually had the accel rates and sense changed based on how quickly I flick/ which my hand/ arm put into my muscle memory) If you haven’t tried it, I suggest attempting to try using mouse accel for at least a week :D
You should start a series where you try to get some sort of elusive/VERY hard to get title/achievement in various things. E.x The hardest badges to get on Apex or some sort of random world record for pen spinning, etc. (emphasis on random because there are some world records that are so random that they aren't as hard to beat as you would think) You don't have to upload with an actual series schedule or upload frequently, quality over quantity
This video actually convinced me to give this mouse accel driver a try. I usually have my DPI very high, but sometimes I feel a bit too restricted when it comes to making slower, precise movements. However, I don't want to sacrifice quicker mouse movements in CQC.
I've played tf2 with the default mouse accel + 10 sensitivity (the slider goes up to 6) for years and never thought about why i sucked at sniper while being good on other classes great video
Yup. You aim with your eyes, not with muscle memory. Try closing your eyes before you flick to a target and see how often you hit. It's your EYES that tell you when to pull the trigger
@@ashscott6068 It's not as simple as that - eye-hand cordination is trait that was relevant for human activity long before pc games and researched in psychology for example. It's about how both your eyes and muscle memory work together to allow precise movements - aiming purely by looking at screen without trying to instictively predict where the hand movement will place your crosshair would mean you have 0 muscle memory and would be really slow ( compare how people that never used a mouse slowly adjust the pointer based purely on looking at it to how people who used a pc long enough to develope some of that memory instictively know how far to move the hand to place coursor on something and adjust with a second smaller movement to correct for the inaccuracy of their prediction). It was pointed in the video it's not about acceleration or lack of it but about predictability and patterns you can learn - so if the accel is linear it's predictable and can be learned the same way as mouse without any accelaration. The problem is that most popular way of implementing accel is non-linear curve.
I used mouse acceleration at first (unknowingly may i add) and it felt good to be able to add an extra variable to mouse movements. Because mouse acceleration makes sense sort of. When precision aiming you you move your mouse slower and when turning quickly you tend to turn as fast as possible without knocking over the g-fuel on your desk. The reason why i switched it off was because it feels more arcady when it is turned off and i liked it that way.
I can understand as for me it was valorant, it's not that I am bad but trying a new character is kind like getting handicapped and my random teammates wasn't helping with trash talk at my every move still unwillingly though i became quiet and serious the entire game having to carry 3 rounds, I hate being competitive but nowadays I am way fixated on taking games seriously, guess I need a break
I’m so happy I found this video, I used to play tf2 sniper with accel on and would destory people, after hearing it was bad I had turned it off and for years never reached that level of long distance flicking control and Precision again. The ability to get people in your peripheral with shots is amazing without the need for a high mouse sense.
I've been using accel for a week now. I've been playing fps with mouse for almost 9 years now, and as a player I've always struggled with tracking, cuz I've had weak "speed" (mouse movement in a single update) control probably cuz my main game is cs and my clicking aim totally compensated for that. I'd say mouse accel *forced* me to be really conscious about speed, and in almost no time it *drastically* improved my overall mouse control. I'm finally reaching platinum sparky aim benchmark (kinda decent) in just a week after getting into this new aiming method. Looking forward to master it and see how far i can get. Thank you so much for posting this.
@@crazeladd idk, it's pretty hard, i think you have to adjust sens to tracking so that you are able to consistently smoothly track targets, and that's the hardest part, because you'll find yourself unable to keep the exact speed you need if your sens is changing too quick or too slow, that's really about balance
@@crazeladd I've actually came back to noaccel, because faceit AC doesn't allow mouse interception driver, I feel way more control without accel now, because some useful muscles that I wasn't using before have developed
@@crazeladd so I think there's really no need for fine tuning, you have to find settings that feel somewhat comfortable and just grind, you'll become better with any reasonable curve
customizable mouse accel like povohat can be good for shooters, clawz is absolutely nuts and swag used accel on cs somehow, even kovaak himself uses mouse accel. The windows one is trash however. I’d still only use accel if you played very low sens so you can use the accel to turn fast but still have low sens precision. edit: wrote the comment 5 hours before the video premiered. glad to see he pretty much covered all of it
ST4L I’m not sure if he uses it on apex but when he was playing quake he was the best visor player and used mouse acceleration while hitting crazy shots
Mouse acceleration and/or smoothing annoys me to no end and throws my aim off, so if the game does not allow me to disable it (such games do exist) Igo rage on the forums.
I have been having windows accel my whole life with computers i have tried to turning it off, and my aim is totally fine i feel like i can play with and senstivity now from low to high, personaly i recommend keeping accel on it has helped me being more consistant in all fps games i have ever played, and if you have always had it on you can try turning it off, it shouldnt be to diffrent
Guys after sitting on the idea I followed in his footsteps. The adjustment period for me was roughly 2 hours of aim trainers. Been using the driver for roughly 2 weeks now and I've broken all my records by roughly 25% (which is insane as up untill that point I reached a skill ceiling so to say). I'm a far better flicker than tracker but mouse acceleration has changed that. It gives me both the speed to track up close and accuracy to track at ranges. For everyone sceptical: try it!. If i can adjust within 2 hours im confident everyone can in at least 3 hours or so :D
It's interesting, my first experience with fps game was cs1.5 when i was in third grade elementary school ever since i've been playing all sorts of fps games after. As a kid not understanding anything about these settings, also that's when some gaming mouse starting to get dpi option settings i would always turn it up to the highest which was 8200 dpi on Razer mouses back then. I always had this idea that more = better (ESL + a lot of old games were english only or translated poorly), on top i would also turn on EVERYTHING in the mouse settings in game like acceleration, enhance precision, etc. Honestly, i could beat all the kids in school to a point some classmates did't want to 1v1 me and they weren't bad some were decent at it. A few could go head to head with me, where we're still friends today.Or be considered top rank in a guild in a fps game, where pulling off 1v5 in a guild skirmish (Yes,there was a fps game with guilds. P.S it was an Asian fps game). At that point in time I had no trouble controlling the mouse, and it felt natural to me. I do remember this one instance my friend had to do something on my computer while we were at a internet cafe lanning, he moved my mouse a bit and my character in cs started spinning out of control like when you would when you turn on hacks in some fps games. He was like wtf whys your mouse so fast? I didn't realize how fast i was until i started playing a lot more MOBA games, trying to climb ranks in league. That when i started to slow down my mouse, later a lot more when i starting to play csgo. When i try doing that today, i just couldn't do it anymore. I still surprise myself today that i was using 8200dpi and i don't know how i was able to pull that off lul. But i would say the main difference would be I'm a lot more consistence nowadays, comparing to doing crazy flick shots back in the old days.
hey pinguefy, i just wanted to thank you for shedding some light on this topic. After seeing your video I realised that I have been playing with the windows mouse acceleration on for my whole life. I have installed Raw Accel and I feel confident in saying that it is no different from novohat's version (that I have also experimented with, but due to faceit blocking it i had to drop it)
2 years since this video came out, damn This video made me realize how good mouse accel feels, i remember when i first tried it and it just felt natural only a couple of hours later, nowadays it isnt my default but i still use in some games where mouse accel really helps me (or atleast it feels like it) thanks for making this video, really showed this new world i had no idea about before
Bruh i had the default windows mouse accel on from the begging and now I can't play anything without it. That is the power of getting used to something.
I'm playing Valorant (the mouse accel works here btw), and I had low sens, which was good for my aim at mid and long distances, but close range, moving around with agents like Raze (who can kinda fly by using her blast packs), or clearing angles was a nightmare. But now I've started using mouse accel, and it's just what I needed, so thanks for this video. It helped me a lot

TLDR:
PROS:
-Good for arcade shooters with fast paced combat such as Apex and Overwatch
-Very versatile for how you want to use it
-Allows for more precise longer range movement and faster flicks if used correctly
CONS:
-You never get perfect consistency with it compared to static sens
-It is harder to get perfect flicks in tense situations
-A lot harder to be precise all of the time
-Good luck getting it installed on LAN machines at a tournament
-God help you if the game you are playing has inbuilt mouse accel already. Fucking NYOOOOM SPEEDS (Thanks Crossfire)
For background on me.
So, I moved to Overwatch
Overwatch was where the driver showed it's potential.
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
great review but I suggest you repost this on reddit where more people see this because reviews are always helpful

I've played with windows acceleration for ever and never noticed.
I did not mind it too for the longest time, but when i turned it off my aim became way better and much more consistent. It might be that windows curve is shit
@@TheCarnivorousCake Idk i tried turning it off and my aim went everywhere. I'll probably still turn it off.
I had it on and I also didnt know
Its been 2 days since i turned it off and i am used to not using it now
I've used it for a good few months now, and I won't go back.

Although your video shows that aiming skill is fairly transferable between states so it shouldn't be a massive issue unless at tournament level.

nah its definetely muscle memory with flicking
@@the1ultimatet1u49 yeah but most people aren't good enough to consistently flick. Only some pros on some games
Personally im more indecesive with my sens than a toddler at a candy shop but im still fairly decent (not great, many areas to improve at, esp smoothness) at aiming

its a simple as getting a mouse with dpi buttons on it.. u can set the dpi settings and attach to a color, then switch from color to color based on what you're doing.. eg. i play on 800 dpi for gaming, and i like 1000 dpi for using the computer.. i have 800 setting tied to blue, and 1000 setting tied to red... very easy to switch back n forth
@@BLo0DLuST831 but then it's awkward to aim at the icon, unless you're suggesting constantly changing your sensitivity whenever you want to click on a button
honestly this guy could chat about water and it would be zen af lmao
now that he's seen this he should make a video about what water is best for gaming
I really liked the mini-fragmovie at 6:02
GG man, nice video.
It is not free, but is good.
can the free 14 days trial be repeated?
hey nothing to do with that but could you tell me wath are the games he is playing? thx

*I'm about to end this whole mans career.*
And that beat drop on the headshot 😳😳
Holy. I didnt realize.
Wtf how
hearing u say 'stupid low sensitivity' & showing the literal exact sens i used (1.6 @ 300dpi) brought back memories of returning 2 fps games after a few yrs of inactivity & developing actual tendonitis in my shoulder after 4 straight hours of playing
i never knew it was actually that hard, i couldnt raise my arm 4 a full day, i always thought my friends were joking when they said it was like throwing a punch every time u flicked
For the adjusting to the new style. Me and my friend decided to switch to inverted mouse just for jokes (moving the mouse up makes you look down). It was really strange to begin with but after a month it became pretty much normal. After a couple of months I was back to the same skill level as I was before
Just passing by to thank you for this video. Kovaak's MouseAccel changed my entire life gaming experience.
Thank you.
My whole life i played with that "enhance pointer precision" thing on, and i never knew it was mouse acceleration....

Hello fellow Serious Bomb pfp enjoyer
6:45 I almost shit myself at how crazy this 360 wall run was.
You should start a series where you try to get some sort of elusive/VERY hard to get title/achievement in various things. E.x The hardest badges to get on Apex or some sort of random world record for pen spinning, etc. (emphasis on random because there are some world records that are so random that they aren't as hard to beat as you would think) You don't have to upload with an actual series schedule or upload frequently, quality over quantity
maybe, but I do love tackling new things/ideas too haha.
This video actually convinced me to give this mouse accel driver a try. I usually have my DPI very high, but sometimes I feel a bit too restricted when it comes to making slower, precise movements. However, I don't want to sacrifice quicker mouse movements in CQC.
“You will only be as good as you actually are” such a good quote
I've played tf2 with the default mouse accel + 10 sensitivity (the slider goes up to 6) for years and never thought about why i sucked at sniper while being good on other classes
great video
6:44 not gonna lie that was the most satisfying thing i watched all day
For years and years Quake players used mouse accel, a lot still do, and some of them have AMAZING aim even by today's standards.

@@ashscott6068 try to flick without arms
I used mouse acceleration at first (unknowingly may i add) and it felt good to be able to add an extra variable to mouse movements. Because mouse acceleration makes sense sort of. When precision aiming you you move your mouse slower and when turning quickly you tend to turn as fast as possible without knocking over the g-fuel on your desk. The reason why i switched it off was because it feels more arcady when it is turned off and i liked it that way.
it was truly an honor to be fragged sir pinguefy, i thank you from the bottom of my heart
@@oldac5190 i mean, it's either i release the video at 2:30 or i premiere the video at 2:30. It's not really different lol

I love watching this guy's channel after having an extreme toxic experience in csgo.

How'd you find the right accel curve tho? I'm still stuck at finding the right balance.
Me out here without knowing that Enhance Precision was on for 2 years.
i just turned it off...its...weird

Same. I turned it off and it doesn't feel right. I keep missing what I want to click on.
you don't have to turn it off
Those insane quick flicks is enough to convince me to try mouse accel lol
7:12 pathfinder starts getting fried. Pinguefy: cut the cameras
customizable mouse accel like povohat can be good for shooters, clawz is absolutely nuts and swag used accel on cs somehow, even kovaak himself uses mouse accel. The windows one is trash however. I’d still only use accel if you played very low sens so you can use the accel to turn fast but still have low sens precision.
edit: wrote the comment 5 hours before the video premiered. glad to see he pretty much covered all of it
clawz from navi apex?
Povohat's accel driver is brilliant
ST4L I’m not sure if he uses it on apex but when he was playing quake he was the best visor player and used mouse acceleration while hitting crazy shots
I've used the windows one without knowing for years now. I tried turning it off but I just can't.

Mouse acceleration and/or smoothing annoys me to no end and throws my aim off, so if the game does not allow me to disable it (such games do exist) Igo rage on the forums.
@@SinaelDOverom tf are those games?
I have been having windows accel my whole life with computers i have tried to turning it off, and my aim is totally fine i feel like i can play with and senstivity now from low to high, personaly i recommend keeping accel on it has helped me being more consistant in all fps games i have ever played, and if you have always had it on you can try turning it off, it shouldnt be to diffrent
Same like i do good with It like especially the games i play are fast paced
Guys after sitting on the idea I followed in his footsteps. The adjustment period for me was roughly 2 hours of aim trainers. Been using the driver for roughly 2 weeks now and I've broken all my records by roughly 25% (which is insane as up untill that point I reached a skill ceiling so to say). I'm a far better flicker than tracker but mouse acceleration has changed that. It gives me both the speed to track up close and accuracy to track at ranges. For everyone sceptical: try it!. If i can adjust within 2 hours im confident everyone can in at least 3 hours or so :D
I may idk I only really play rainbow so I don’t think I need it
It's interesting, my first experience with fps game was cs1.5 when i was in third grade elementary school ever since i've been playing all sorts of fps games after. But i would say the main difference would be I'm a lot more consistence nowadays, comparing to doing crazy flick shots back in the old days.
turns out I've had the enhance pointer option turned on this whole time...
