Yes, this is a reupload. I got a copyright strike from for the Hollow Knight soundtrack and it makes the video so bad that I would rather just reupload to have something I'm proud of on the channel haha. Here is the original video if you want read the old comments: ua-cam.com/video/Hw6sHlWt6d4/v-deo.html
I started taking notes in college, and I would title every lecture's notes based on how I felt that day, like "FIN 466: The Pain Of Getting Up Edition." I think it helped me get into the right mindset to understand the material better because I was making a connection between my mood and recent experiences and the topics in lecture.
This video (and this channel) is fucking beautiful. It's inspired me to fix my life. For years now, I've been sailing off talent, playing video games for hours and hours instead of revising, and constantly scrambling for motivation to work, to learn, and enjoy life itself. Thank you man. This video as well as your viewer interviews have really helped me.
I can attest to the idea of no one being inherently bad at math (this obviously has some exceptions for serious mental disabilities. Even then people are always surprised by what they can do.) I used to know so little math, I never got past third grade, and I remember crying because I couldn't do three digit addition when I was young. My grammar and spelling were pretty bad, and I didn't know much geography either. I remember one of the first things I taught myself was my months. I had never been taught my months because I was homeschooled, and it seems my parents forgot to teach me a lot of subjects. I actually owe Roblox a lot for my improvement in spelling and grammar. The site has actually been around since 2006, and it used to be a lot more creative, and a lot less of a mobile trash dump. I also learned programming on Roblox. At the time I didn't really understand the difference between scripting, and programming, so I wasn't really sure how applicable what I was learning was, but I liked it a lot. After many years I actually became good enough at it where I needed to start learning some math to do what I wanted, which is what made me decide to go to high school. I did pretty well because of my interest in math from programming, and I'm now studying computer science at college. I don't think I ever would have learned math if I didn't have a use for it, and over time I actually grew to like the subject. I think that's the hard part to every subject, finding what you like about them. Also, Plague Inc was a huge help with my geography. Still don't know many capital cities though.
Yeah, same here. I think in school they just accept when you’re bad in math, like it’s so normalised instead of trying to interests the students in the subject and making it more accessible. Because if you don’t learn the basics, you can’t “level up” in math. I was really bad in math especially calculating things, but my understanding wasn’t too bad in some subjects and I realised too late that the school curriculum was just really sh*t in explaining things. Nowadays I do a lot bester but calculating by hand and under time pressure is still hard for me, but my understanding is good and I realised I’m actually not too stupid for math
I feel so sorry for Pingu, the quality of this video is on par with his other content; he gets 500k views, and then yt bends him over and fists him algorithmic style 😭😭😭
Well the algorithm did him good today. I don’t even like typing, but his most recent vid was on the recommended section and I gotta say that it was PHENOMENAL
I got straight A's, but also didn't learn "how to learn" in school, and actually kind of hated learning afterwards. 7 years later, I tried to finally pick up learning Japanese again... I had some motivations that kept me going long enough to discover that I loved learning, and that mnemonics were the key for me. Now I try to make them up for anything that I want to remember. Complete game changer. When I was memorizing kanji meanings by keywords, I made up mnemonics for about 20 at a time. It was a bit time consuming to make up the mnemonics but I was able to recall all the meanings with only a few flashcards reps each to reinforce them. I was even able to write them from memory when prompted (given that I had learned the basics of writing kanji previously). Did this for over 1000 kanji over a few months and now reading through native material is so much more doable. Yeah, mnemonics are pretty cool. I also learned the basics of Python even though in the past I thought I was destined to be bad at programming. I actually enjoy it!
The nice thing about mnemonic devices is that there is no need for any logical or causal connection for them to work. Often trying to find one helps memorizing already, and if it is illogical or strange that can help as well, because memory works by separating the general or "boring" from the special. The brain doesn't need to memorize "normal" stuff, but special stuff.

(not trying to downplay your hard work here! you obviously put a lot of effort into everything you do). but then? you went and figured out how to get good at this shit? like wow, maybe we can't be naturally inclined to be good at everything, but there's a way for us to get better at anything we devote our time to, if we just figure out what works for us! and that gives me a lot of hope and confidence in myself. i'm gonna try to like. learn a new thing or something! at least do some testing to see if i can find how i learn best. thanks for doing all the stuff you do! hope this makes sense and isn't weird or anything
This was quite cool to watch, though the idea of making stories to memorise things struck me. I am learning Japanese and the amount of chinese-originating characters that are used is a lot (+2200 common ones). I came across a method from an author called Heisig who calls it "imaginative memory" on how to memorise them. Many characters are made up of smaller parts, mostly other simpler smaller words within them. And to remember the character, you can make a story out of these words relating to the key one. To this point, I've memorised +1600, a bit sketchy here and there, but the majority is fine. That is something I definitely never thought I'd achieve.

Just you talking about school in the first 2 min got me into ptsd mode bruh lol. What a life. I hope it all works out one day for everyone here including myfriends , family and myself
I find it really interesting that so many brains are drawn to learning the same things. Like, I go through phases where I challenge myself online with WPM and geography stuff, and recently bought a Rubik's Cube, since I've always wanted one but never had one, and have begun to learn that as well. Many nerdy folks also get into music and web/video design, which I also find interesting, because those are supposedly "arts", rather than "sciences", but I think there's something very cerebral about creating things that can be heard, seen, graphed, etc. Music is very mathematical, and you can tell stories with audio and video. I think there's not as much of a divide between the arts and sciences as we tend to think, the way we approach creation is just a bit different (more methodical types, and the more free-form arty types). I've got some health issues going on that have given me terrible brain fog, ruined my memory, given me aphasia issues, made it hard to type/write (adding letters, changing tenses, reversing parts of words, combining words, replacing words, skipping words), and just made me feel incredibly stupid, and feeling my intelligence doing a sudden freefall has made me start to practice more and more things, and become obsessive about weird shit, because it's disconcerting to be able to literally feel your brain struggling to process things when you've spent your life being incredibly intelligent. I feel like the only way I'll be able to hold onto my brain is to make it work overtime, teaching it constant new things, and striving to be more than it was before, even though it can't accomplish the common things it used to do with ease. It's weird, and I realize I'm probably just in denial about the state of things, but until I'm dead, I'm going to keep teaching myself more pointless shit... even if I never remember it. *lol*
I personally remember best when I write something down. I remember a time when I had procrastinated all my homework and I had to memorize a speech that was due that day. I was in a rush to get to school and I only had the first sentence remembered so I wrote it down a couple times and there it was stuck in my head. I then went on to read it aloud about 20-40 times that afternoon.
Hope you are enjoying your studies and life outside of social media Mr Pinguefy. But when you are able to come back, you should as your channel is amazing and I enjoy your videos to this day.

Yes sir. Reciting and writing what I’m hearing is effective for language learning for me. I have to work on the memory palace too still & more abstract mnemonics
You should try to learn stenography and see if you can get 200 wpm, though because it's an actual profession that people need to go to school for to learn professionally I don't know if it's even possible to get 200 at home, or even in a timely manner, Plover apparently is good for it
at first, I was like wait a minute did I see this entire video in one of my future predicting dreams and then I was like no that can't be because those dreams are always like 1 sec long and then I was the comment that this a reupload
8:11 This is a huge problem for intuitive dominant thinkers. People are who more sensing dominant can just absorb the information more directly but we need to actually paint these abstract connections in our brain to remember
When I made my own alphabet code, I used this technique sorta. For each letter, I tried to make some visual hint, somehow the extra step helped my brain a bunch. Now I don’t remember the visual hints, but even 6mo after using the alphabet and not using it much to begin with, I could probably still write it
strangely enough, I went down a super similar route for memorization because I realised I could remember random details about memes and inside jokes. but then after making these really obscure stories that I would laugh with my friends about, I completely forgot about it the next week--i then gave up on memorization for the next year 💀
My question is why is the chat so hard on you like most people don’t know nearly as much as you do even when you forgot some and mixed them up. I do find it inspiring though that you want to improve yourself in this way even with topics people wouldn’t even bother with. I’m gonna start doing the same I think. Also, I just found you with this video, right now so you have a new subscriber!

at first, I was like wait a minute did I see this entire video in one of my future predicting dreams and then I was like no that can't be because those dreams are always like 1 sec long and then I was the comment that this a reupload
Just discovered this channel, I really like it. :) His voice is cool too.
Too bad he isn't posting :(
I really thought I was crazy for doing those weird trains of thought to memorize things
This is the fine dining of quality content
Happy new year! come back soon :)
8:11 This is a huge problem for intuitive dominant thinkers. People are who more sensing dominant can just absorb the information more directly but we need to actually paint these abstract connections in our brain to remember
5:36 hèeeeeeeey i am from Skopje
When I made my own alphabet code, I used this technique sorta. For each letter, I tried to make some visual hint, somehow the extra step helped my brain a bunch. Now I don’t remember the visual hints, but even 6mo after using the alphabet and not using it much to begin with, I could probably still write it
yo we missed you a lot dude where have u been? 😭
@@rourkelee1545 oh okay hope he's doing okay
proof we can do anything we set our mind to with the right confidence
been almost a year since youve uploaded, i hope youre doing well
strangely enough, I went down a super similar route for memorization because I realised I could remember random details about memes and inside jokes. but then after making these really obscure stories that I would laugh with my friends about, I completely forgot about it the next week--i then gave up on memorization for the next year 💀
and when the world needed him most... he was gone
I agree making stories for memorizing things always helps
My question is why is the chat so hard on you like most people don’t know nearly as much as you do even when you forgot some and mixed them up. I do find it inspiring though that you want to improve yourself in this way even with topics people wouldn’t even bother with. I’m gonna start doing the same I think. Also, I just found you with this video, right now so you have a new subscriber!
just found this channel through the qwerty video and can't stop watching
I learnt the memory palace from a memory book I have... Loved the video.
Glad there is the reupload, i wanted to remember how to have an actual good memory
Nice to see you again after 4 months away (Though I was gone for longer than 4).
At this point, you may as well be a living god among us with all this knowledge because I have no sanity to do all of this
vid idea: curing addiction, my obssesion with youtube comments.
copyright strike, huh?

Hey pinguefy, you are one of my favorite youtubers and I watch all your videos. When you upload it truly makes my day. Whenever I watch your videos and I see the games you play I instantly intrigued by the game and want to play it but a lot of the time I don't know the name of the game. So it's there any (preferably free) game recommendations or games you play? Thanks!
ill be waiting
