@@TheBinaryHappiness Yes of course, i'll just throw some numbers but i believe there is no one with more than 40 hours in kz that has never played goldbhop, it's like surf_beginner in surf and i believe everyone that played it somewhat seriously has tried to grind it for a good PB

Man. I'm 35 now and I remember ALL of this, I'm not sure why this video came up in my feed but I'm glad it did. Great job. Seeing names like BiBo, NDR etc.
Played 1.6 for 16 years, bhop 9years, surf 7 years, im so proud of my childhood, i was 3rd player from Latvia who managed to get into a Zero-Gravity surf clan and get accepted, and goldbhop record is 1:35 , absolute blast of memories watching this video, very well done! Greetings from Latvia! -crytex
also a few additional information to state: 1. i forgot which year but someone uploaded a scripted demo with 01:26 while WR holder was fighting for 01:30 or so. despite it's cheated, it showed that human beings can achieve 01:26 pace at least. 2. in case someone wonder how topo could improve almost 2 full seconds: when it comes to the milesecond level like topo's grinding, air time becomes a thing. in a word, though normal bhops reach shorter possible distance than stand-up bhop, it has less time on air than stand-up bhopping. imagine you're falling from the same height with/without duck, you can understand that the difference of air time is caused by the height of player model with/without ducking. at the first half of the map topo used a lot of normal bhop for bhop blocks which are not possible to skip, which in total gained a decent amount of time for his record. 3. average time per block will also increase since bhop blocks are falling and you'll spend extra time on it if you don't have a frame perfect bhop. 4. sub 01:25 is possible only if: current topo's pace + skipping blocks topo did not do for safe + flawless stairs. it would be insanely hard to grind. im not fanzeng btw my id just looks like his
around the 0:22s part he wanted to do a skip but decided not to (instead doing a very rounded strafe to the next closest block), and another similar moment like that later - that's an easy 1.5s down and before the stairs part, he landed without a double duck to carry speed over, that could be another 0.2-0.4s down

this is the production that we need, dagger's cs1.6 annihilation2 video and this one is true masterpiece please keep doing this lovely art and we can watch over and over again
Wow I remember playing this back as a kid like 10-15 years ago, I still love 1.6 over any other CS and this video with the quality and mirror effects of each players competing its amazing. This is very well done, Karl Jobst needs to see this since he covers a lot of speedruns on multiple games. The only thing missing to appeal to more broad audience that is not into CS is explaining the bhop technics, pre-strafes, strafes, momentum on CS engine and how to execute them, that's the only thing to get a perfect video.
Definitely there is space for improvement. Here are some points I saw: 17:28 - he can skip a block 17:31-32 - two blocks can be skipped 17:55? - Im curious if here it can be taken with bhop as well without stopping? 18:22 - he lost a little bit of speed after the hj and didnt skip the second block like in previous runs 18:25 - didnt make the last bhop between block section and stairs 18:27 - feels like last stairs weren't smooth Overall 3 seconds improvment and sub 1.22 time I think is absolutely achivebale but it requieres a lot of grind. Hope someone does it and showed us pure run.
damn you just unlocked like 100 gb of lost memories right back to my brain. I just remember me stucked for HOURS on that long jump part, i absolutely sucked at those. This even bring back the surf_ski_2 map (I´m legit surprise that i just remembered the exact name of that map, it´s crazy it came back to my memory after like 15 years). Good old days that will never come back man, enough to make a grown man go full nostalgic. I mostly use the Liked Videos on my youtube as a playlist where i just like songs that i really like so i don´t lose them, so i don´t usually give likes to videos that could mess my playlist but this shit deserves the like. Thank you for this video.
What an amazing video and what an amazing run from topoviygus, it looked like he was flying! I remember playing this back in the days of 1:48 world record. My times were about 3 minutes haha, great map.
This is the only mod of this game that I truly hate to see any cheating of any kind. Don't care about pubs, 5v5s, hns, etc. This is the one mod where people require absolute skill down to the ms. I've done my fair share of bhop and kz, all I can feel is awe for the top players. It can be beyond nerve wrecking. EDIT: Not to mention this is the only mod where the community TRULY loves and cares about it for more than 2 decades.
This is the one mod where people require absolute skill down to the ms And a rig that can maintain a good consistent FPS :) Otherwise your bhop and strafe jumps won't be quick and long enough.
but this isn't a skill though? every jump is a coin flip - its not deterministic. sure the strafes are skill and the gamesense is top notch but you can't deny the fact that it's also extremely lucky.
