The experience I'm excited for is to have Dragon's Dogma but a sequel
Bro people are still asking if its going to have PVP.... lmao.
Lmao indeed. That's such a fundamental misunderstanding of the game it is laughable.
That's soo stup8.
It's basically like a 4 man party dungeon system, tank, dps, dps, healer
No not at all
well games w/o pvp are trash
Who the heck doesn't upgrade their pawns, that doesn't even make sense.
It's useful if you want to farm Relic Cores. Most players will pick a random low level pawn when they enter the pawn realm. They always go for one of 3 things. The one that looks hottest, strongest (really well geared for level), or funniest. Combine 2 of those 3 and you have a RC printer. Grab random pawns, kill your main to ensure he/she doesn't level up, go beat the game, equip your lvl 1 pawn with maxed out endgame gear, level pawn once or twice. Sit back and get rich. Your pawn will learn to beat everything and become more effective from serving others. You will get items from other players as gifts. Honestly it doesn't make sense TO level up your pawn until they can become a lvl 1 god.
bro, is this even possible?

I think it might be hard for me to get around being used to your NPC "teammates" never really being that useful. It's so often that they just kinda do something to look busy but aren't really anything of true value. For a game to have them in such an integral position, it'll be kinda new for me. Though I do welcome it and it's good I've heard about it as much as I have. Could have made the same mistake of prioritising my own character heavily.
@Metatronscube23 tbf i typically dont like dealing with or managing extra party members. I preferred to lone wolf play both baldurs gate 3 and divinity original sin 2, so without having watched this I likely would have tried the same thing in this game. Glad he mentioned it.

Came here for this
Noooo 😂
This has been living rent free for years.
I think it is just Dragons Dogma 1 with modern graphics and better pawn ai. Good enough for me.
That's exactly what it is. It's not a real sequel, but more of a remake. An expanded remake, but still a remake.
And the pawn AI in the 10-12yo original is pretty good as long as you pay attention to those character trait things that you can alter by talking to them or giving them those elixers from the dude in the first fort. Mage AI can be a little wonky when they're giving you ice affinity against the wyrm (was that the ice dragon? Either that or wyvern) but if they can get little things like that corrected it'll be great. Maybe some more voice lines, lol. "Look! Goblins Arisen!"
Exactly what I want
that and weve been told a much more dense and dynamic world
Yes, and if you look closely at the trailer all of the locations seems familiar and it seems a bigger version of Gran Soren
a lot of people will bail out when they find about that some quests expire if not done or started during a time frame
Or that you have to actually listen and pay attention to the quest directions bc there aren't markers lol
The type of people who bail on games quickly tend not to do a lot of side quests anyway.
I never realized how OCD that I was until I played Baldur’s Gate 3. It does really bother me to miss content, especially if the game is going to be 100+ to get through.
I want content to be “missable” but I still want to find/ experience it all. I want to hear about how everyone else missed this one obscure thing, but then I found it.
I’m the guy that took almost 200 hours to beat Elden Ring for the first time because I found EVERYTHING. I will go back and double or triple check, I’ll hit almost every wall, I’ll ride that elevator six times to make sure that there wasn’t a secret floor half way up.
I’m the guy that will forfeit 12 hours of progress to reload a previous save in Baldur’s Gate or Persona because I locked myself out of a quest line earlier.
This game sounds like it will be torture for me 😂
Most RPG gamers cop out instantly if everything doesnt hand feed them every step of the way. sad times for RPG games, glad dd2 is still keeping it real
I think IGN pointed that out with the missing boy quest. You delay looking for him and the wolves kill him. Timed quests aren't new. If you get a quest you need to go do it unless it has some delay attached to it where as part of the quest you the player have to wait for the right moment.
Just to clarify, most of the vocations have some sort of defensive skill, counter or parry, but it isn't neceserally baked into your vocation ( like thief, warrior or fighter ) Instead, it'll be a slotted skill. So, in the end it's up to you if you go for more defense or offense.
That said, abilities that give I-frames like Exodus slash are incredibly potent
Anyone who played dd1 knows exactly what dd2 is going to be like.

That's the same fear I had for DD2, DD1 was wildly misunderstood, let alone not as hugely put out there as 2 currently is, which I'm happy that my favourite RPG series is getting love, but DD is a very different beast that requires a lot of patience. The vocation previews may likely have caused this preconception that the game is going to be fast 80% of the time when it's usually 60/40* I'd say.
Not every game as to be co-op . Makes me roll my eyes when people complain about it.
There are so many people that complain about that and some I’ve seen say they won’t even touch the game because it doesn’t have co-op, for me I’m glad it doesn’t

This is a niche game..but CCs are treating it like a mainstream game.
So when the mainstream audience plays this niche game... without any experience with dd1. They will either A) love this game or B) Hate the game and return to their previous mainstream game.
I am hoping it would A, but lets be honest.. it's most likely going to be B.
Can you define what you mean by niche a bit?
I’ve heard someone else call it a niche game but I dont understand
@motionglitch it won't n can't appeal to all. It is for a specific audience.
That is what niche means.
Dubstep isn't niche, operatic metal I'd, for example.
Fortnite isn't niche.
@@motionglitch basically why this happens is because as a new player plays the game, they have high expectations, then they realize it's not online, theres no pvp, the combat is methodical and not fast (unless you're a faster vocation) and everytime they find out what they thought it was isnt true, the game in their mind loses integrity, they think it should be designed differently, when in reality it's not in the developers vision, and the dev is right

I will always remember the first time I thought I’d travel by nightfall in dragons dogma and was surrounded in the woods and it was so scary and we were losing badly and had to run back to town. I was hooked forever after that 😊

It's so refreshing to have a melee action game without dodge and parry mechanics for the same reason having them is. Variety
The first one did have a dodge and parry mechanic (for some classes), albeit it wasn't the main focus like many action rpgs today. But I agree, variety is absolutely a good thing.
This game does have a dodge and parry mechanic. Every class does.

I never played a Dungeons and Dragons game before Baldurs Gate 3. I knew going in it was going to have a steep learning curve but once I became acquainted with the UI and overall mechanics, then I started having fun. I’m going to treat this game the same way.
I just started BG3 last week as my first turn based game, it's really fun!
I havee been playing game BEFORE the golden box era (golden age of D&D and rpg games)
My suggestion is to take it slow. These games are rewarsing when you immerse yourself inside the world. Put tought in your actions. And when its time for action, apply the skills. Its not lile the fast food induatry games we have known in the last 15-20 years.
Enjoy! These games are really rare nowadays.
BG3 opened the D&D gate for normalfgt
You and your people need to go back
"I've seen a lot of comparisons [of DD2] to games like Elden Ring and it couldn't be further from the case." Sighs in deep relief.
Human minds love categories, it makes it quick and easy for us to understand things, so it is natural, but putting something unique into the wrong categorical box can set people up for disappointment if it's not enough like the thing they want it to be like, and instead of enjoying discovering something new, you can end up lamenting that it wasn't what you thought it was. I think people get too comfortable trying to compare games to other games. It's Elden Ring, it's BG3, it's this and that. I get it, but also in doing so, we lose out on nuance and seeing and celebrating something unique for what it is. I think DD2 is going to be unique in a lot of ways, that is why I am excited to try it out!
Humans love categorising things for sure, it's just the stupid ones used to ☠️ when they did it wrong & got eaten. Nowadays they are somehow rewarded enough to never realise "I need to change & improve myself".
Well said 👏
When Elden Ring come out many people that never touched a From Software game tried and it was legendary for then, the same with BG3 ressurecting a "dead" genre (at least in western gaming).
Maybe DD2 will have the same effect, being so unique in a time when most games feel the same.
Doom Eternal had an similar effect, bringing something different on FPS's.
We're in a pretty wonderful time for unique RPGs@@bryanm498
This game is so different from many other games that it really can be hit or miss because of those features. No fast travels aside the expensive travel stones and portcrystals, or ox-cart. Combat doesn't have dodge/block/roll but rather these are class specific abilities. It's not about you but you and the pawns as party.
Myself, i look forward to the game and i'm excited about all the features and the game design they decided to embrace.
Well hopefully pawns don't just wander around being useless during combat this time around. I've recently been playing through Dark Arisen as a sorcerer and most of the time they tend to just stand there regardless of their inclinations.
@@fadingghost9723Change your pawn inclinations to scather and utilitarian. My strider pawn literally solos bosses in BBI. It also leveled all of my vocations while afk. If your not sure how to change it you can go to the encampment and there is a merchant in the tent that sells the potions to remove and obtain specific inclinations. Hope this helps !!
You hit the nail on the hit head so many times dude.
Anyone coming into this expecting a fast paced Elden Ring is not only going to get one nasty shock after another, this game will lay them out. Hard no less.
It will take a lot of time effort to learn, but it will be worth it.
Speaking from experience with Dragon's Dogma, once you have that first breakthrough moment, it's something else.

Right. In Elden ring you fight to level up. In DD you run away from enemies to get xp from quests.

@@xnadegod1053 Oh no, you get exp. from felling enemies too.

Running is a good idea when you're outmatched in both games though.
regarding the pawn, its like playing ff7 rebirth and not gearing your party.
honestly, this sounds exactly what I'm looking for. I wish I could have kept my summons around more in elden ring, love playing with the AI team mates in ghost recon, etc... love team play with friends, but failing that, AI team mates that actually do something is a great option and DD2's Pawns seem like a new layer to that thought process.
If u want to play this game, don't forget to set ur main pawn's inclination.
Because pawn will act depends on their inclination (they will focus to support u, or they will just beat the monsters).
Any idea why I groan when Piper worries for the tenth time if she sounded crazy, but when I hear "Wolves hunt in packs!" for the two thousandth time, I grin from ear to ear?
Imagine a 3rd person skyrim, with breath of the wild exploration, elden ring in the sense of low amounts of tutorial (no hand holding), monster hunter in the form of combat system, baldurs gate 3 in the sense of managing a party, shadow of the Colossus bosses, and an old school 2010's approach to old fashioned nostalgic fun!

This is the best video I’ve seen on this game. You made so many great points. If it took me 4 hrs to create my character and main pawn. I’m just imagining how long it’s gonna take me to understand all the systems, menus, managing inventory and everything you mentioned. Paying attention to every detail and knowing what works and what doesn’t. I feel like even trying to look up a simple walkthrough on a part of the game that im bound to get stuck on won’t be as straight forward. People using different vocations with different weapons finding different items at different points in the game using different pawns and different skills. There’s so many variables.
Players that never played Dragon's dogma 1/Dark Arisen think that's this is another soul like game. Then complaining about the game like they played the first one and need to wait 11 years for the 2nd one. Right lol, just a bunch of noob gamers that don't know what to expect from games. I called Helldivers success before release while peeps were still skeptical. This is gonna kick ass too and prolly the only games I care for till Monster hunter wilds and AC red next year. And hopefully Wonder Woman!

I hope they bring B'z back for the OST. Into Free was so fucking awesome.
I hope I'll like this one. It's hard to know for sure since how different it is, but at least some things speak in it's favor:
Like how I've always loved being a healer and looking out for other players in co-op or team oriented games, paying attention what others do and then helping out.
How I've liked just walking around in games like Red Dead Redemption 2, with no real rush to the next location, as I can just immerse myself to the journey itself and look around (and loved how Red Dead 2's world often rewarded me for paying attention to it's detail instead of zooming past to the next destination)...
I've always often been the kinda person who doesn't like using fast travel as it "breaks immersion".
It will probably be hard to re-tune myself to some aspects though, like the dodging, actually relying that the NPC teammates do good work instead of just being filler and how I actually gotta plan my journeys and forgetting to buy or take items would be a mess-up you can't just hop right back to fetch it.
I never did play the first one...
Really looking forward to this.
Dragons Dogma does a great job at rewarding players that like to explore and wander around the map off the main route. You can find pretty good loot and gear through exploration.
Dragon Dogma 1 let me play as Guts. Before playing as Guts was mainstream. I loved it for that.
But will I be able to command my pawns to attack specific targets or go to scout locations? The first game had this issue and I hope they have come up with better ways to command pawns to complete certain actions possibly not suitable for the vocation I'm currently using.
I'm trying out the first one right now and its definitely a challenge but I see the ambition so I'm looking forward to the sequel
I'm totally here for it. Can't wait to tackle these challenges with my team of pawns. This is what I want from Dragon's Dogma 2.

I can already see it. Mixed reviews on Steam at launch from people who misunderstood the game. But it's eventually going to go back to Very Positive with an occassional review criticizing the game for the one save limitation and lack of coop, which I think are both valid criticisms, even if intentional design choices.
Coop isn’t valid, not every game needs to be or have CO-OP in it.
lack of coop isn't a valid criticism if the game itself wasn't made with coop in mind?
I think it has more than 1 save now
@@VincentSilverhand no it doesn't it still only has one save. its because of the weird way they keep track of pawns to throw them into other peoples worlds or something like that.

SAME, some of us just want to chill on our own
You don't need to praise this game at every opportunity and be so mind-numbingly obsessed and desperate to try and turn every negative or neutral point into a positive one.
A game having co-op as an option does not prevent you from enjoying it in singleplayer. It is fine for the game to not have it, but it would objectively benefit a lot of people if it did.
@@sujimayne Objectively its a matter of resources, time and the vision of the project. Imo too much games add multiplayer while the main story/game is lacking.
I hope the game has good enemy variety. Fighting the same wolves, bandits, saurians, and harpies in the first game got real old real fast. I still have nightmares of exploring at night and hearing wolves howling coming at me every minute.
Me wandering around Hillfigure Knoll/Duke's Manse at night with the seemingly endlessly spawning direwolves, thinking "how many times do I have to teach you this lesson old man?!"
At least enemies won't have fixed spots where they spawn anymore. In DA it really gets annoying when you start to think how to avoid specific routes because you don't want to face the same horde of goblins or direwolves over and over again.
@@embioz1 unfortunately enemy spawns won’t mean anything if enemy variety is lacking. Let’s hope it isn’t, so far all the gameplay we’ve seen of the over world shows the same enemies as DD1

I keep watching these videos warning of things some may not like about dragons dogma, but now I’m just sold even harder after countless videos and playing some dark arisen. I’m ready and willing to learn
People who want to know what DD2 is going to be like, go play Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen, maybe add a stamina mod or 2 and you'll know what you're getting into.
Came for Dragons Dogma 2, stayed for the Spiritbox shirt.
Yup same lol
I'm absolutely obsessed with the first one, so much so that even up until a month ago, I was playing through over and over at random points in time. I can't wait for this.
Also worth mentioning that Elden Ring and Dark Souls tend to be very methodical in the way you approach a fight - it's a dance. Dodge here, attack after this move, bait this specific attack by distancing yourself a set number of steps. It's a very predictable way to approach combat when you figure out the rhythm. Dragons Dogma isn't like that. It's much more chaotic in the moment, you make openings, rather than wait for them. It's more about constant adaptation than learning a dance. It's has more room for error, but oftentimes can also be more difficult if you're not prepared.
I'd summarize it by saying if you played dragon's dogma one expect the same. lol
Respect on the spiritbox shirt 🫡
In DD1, the only classes that have dodge is not a class, but the weapon type. You unlock dodge rolling through the knife core skillls. So, if you play strider, ranger, magick archer, or assassin, you can use dodge roll. Which is my bread and butter. 👌 0:58
I don't think DD2 is a actual sequel. I'm looking at it as more of a reboot. I think they're making the game they originally wanted to make, but were unable to due to budget & technical limitation. That being said, there were some aspects of the original game that were down right awful. Pawns were annoying, interacting with NPC's was awkward. & the overall presentation of the story just seemed off. I haven't seen anything to show me that any of this has been addressed in DD2. I'm still looking forward to this game, but I am a little worried.
Man, i started playing DDDA in December, sunk 166 hours between December and February when i finally 100% the game! Its pure gold, i absolutely LOVED it!! I think it is way too early to give blind praises to this game, while I loved the first one for what it is and this one looks like a continuation of that the first also had glaring flaws, that can now be excused due to its age.
That said if those same issues are repeated here it won't hit as sorng as we had a slew of great games between the releases of the first one and this one. I am still looking foprward for Dragon's Dogma 2 but I'll wait until the reviews drop before pressing the buy button. Some previes I saw are concerning really.
I agree, Itsuno has made some odd and kind of concerning choices based on what he's said in interviews.
I like the idea of a mystic spear hand. I just like spears sense ive trained with them sense i was just a wee lad. I wish more games hand spears and bowstaffs or just other variations of 2 handed weapons that are manipulated similar to bow staffs. Theyre cool for pokey pokey and being super booger scoopers.
So it’s not Street Fighter?
What I find reviewers failing to mention about Dragon's Dogma is that it's also an AI-raising simulator, specifically your main Pawn. The Pawn AI actually "learns" from the player's in-game actions and grows to imitate their master as time passes. Perfect Parry all the time as a Fighter? Your Pawn will learn the tendency to do that. Like to fool cyclopes into removing their own helms via climbing? Your Pawn will learn the tendency to do that. Perhaps you're the kleptomaniac type and loot items across the battlefield as your main priority instead of engaging in combat? Your Pawn will learn that looter's tendency and will eventually become a looter too. Maybe you're the supportive type and often prioritize running to help your party members in their downed state or during critical HP? Your Pawn will grow and learn to do the same. You are basically raising a child-AI into becoming a fully-fledged party-member NPC.
Yea I see that too. I love how you can train your pawn in combat as well. I always spent time as the same vocation showing them what to do. Teaching a warrior pawns to bonk an ogre's head was always fun. Training striders was easy too. It was really cool when you'd see them start mimicking your actions.
@@garver5833 yeah, it can be consuming to do in-depth, but it can also be very rewarding. It's also one of the main reasons why a lot of creators often end up complaining that their pawn is "stupid". They don't know the pawn is an amalgamation of their playstyle across the entire time they had the pawn. It's actually impressive to see Dragon's Dogma video creators who go in-depth with this system, creating trained pawns that can own very difficult fights solo.
I always loved one thing about Dragon's Dogma. Skill, especially magic, are incredibly well done. They are not just different flares of the same magic. A well used spell can obliterate one enemy, but do ntoghing to another - depending on their weakspots, resistances and general situation.
16:16 I think a big problem for me is going to be the necessity of going back to a town to restock.
I will be new to DD and just thinking about having my adventure cut short or not being able to reach a POI because I ran out of stuff in my very limited inventory.
I’m worried about feeling of being tethered to a town and a new town being the first thing I look for when exploring new areas.
Is this something you experienced in DD1?
Even having just 1 Portcrystal makes restocking a breeze. The ferrystones are not as plentiful as Town Portal scrolls in Diablo, but they aren't rare either and the cost is insignificant unless you're using one every 10 minutes.
In Dark Arisen, you get several Portcrystals early on that you can use to easily zoom around the map and complete quests quickly, but I have a feeling they won't be giving us that many. I just hope we get 1 at least 25% of the way through the game 🙏
Yea I just want an upgrade from one. The first one had good bones, I just hope 2 is the polish im looking for.
Same, I'm a little concerned about the game being a downgrade from the first simply because of the removal of QoL features that DD1 already had, but I'll just have to wait and see.
I'm doing a no pawns playthrough when Dragon Dogma 2 comes out :)
u can't do that lol
Why?
@@tothemoon9290I mean you kiiinda can if you keep killing them on purpose and never getting close from a riftstone but there may be parts in the game where you'll need pawns so good luck softlocking yourself xD
I used to play the first one like that.
I'm definitely gonna try, I ran solo in ddda 80% then I'd go level and train my pawn at the end
I really appreciate the heads up. I was really excited for DD2, but if there's not gonna quest markers and prevalent fast travel I'm probably gonna give it a pass. I learned my lesson with Kingdom Come Deliverance. It seemed amazing but as soon as I got into it and had no convenience options I gave up on it after two or three hours.
I’m kind of confused . How is the team management aspects that different from the final fantasy games , or dragon age or mass effect series or the tales series. I think there are more if not at least an equal amount of action adventure games where you manage more than just yourself in combat . Im probably missing something but is that the steep learning curve he’s talking about ?
someone is going to boot up this game and immediately get online and ask where the mini map and quest marker is
But the game & even number 1 had a mini map... Also had quest markers, just not all the time.
DD2 has a mini map just no map markers, you can put custom map markers down though.
It does have both...
@TheInstinctWithinV2 where has this been shown or stated that there will be map markers for quests because it has absolutely been stated multiple times that there will not be markers on the map. But if there is then maybe it was misunderstood in some way, either way we will find out in a week.
a game for smart people
*tactical people
Shiet son.... I don't now about that I only play fighting games and just finished DD1 after 4 days in my free time ... Since I didn't find any guides with mission and order I was lost as fuck.... If a guy like me can reach seneschal 😂 everyone can do it.
Insecure folk desperately seeking validation. Pathetic.
lmao. i wouldn’t be so sure about that, remember the discourse around the game in the 2010s?
Tell you what it took 120 IQ to let that girl get choked out by her possessed king due to her trying to sell me out and watch me get whipped 😂😂😂😂😂
Please everyone LISTEN TO THIS MAN. Dont let the internet’s rage get unleashed on this game because it didn’t solve every woe in your game life. This is the game we all wanted, and we’ve been waiting 12 yrs for it. Keep your UA-cam opinions at bay til you understand it. Don’t let something amazing get crushed just because Diablo IV stole your soul and your money.
Yes truly the pinnacle of gaming... Denuvo and a washed out white filter over a generic fantasy world...
I played the dragon age series, so I get the concept of working as a team and upgrading them, but I’m pretty excited about DD2, never played the first one. But I been wanting to play something like this for along time.
If it is like the 1st game, you can only upgrade your own pawn. The others get upgraded by their players.
I’m concerned about enemy variety I swear if I’m gonna fight the same 5 Griffins in the span of 2 hours as shown in the trailers I’m going to loose it
How about you go play the first one then? (your concerns will have been answered already) Of course the trailers will have shown one of the boss fights the game has rather than the game showing the normal enemies that you encounter 70% of the game. Like you don't see in the trailer of dark souls/elden ring, the player fighting normal enemies, they always show the boss fights, which is the highlight of the game, same here.
@@Grynfeltand guess what? They showed 3 boss fights in 3 different regions of the game: griffins, orks and ogres.
If that’s not a red flag for lack of enemy and boss variety I don’t know what is.
@@GodOfAI_ They’re not going to show their full hand before release. I wouldn’t be too worried about variety.
@@GodOfAI_ ..wat? They showed 3 different boss fights, in 3 different regions with 3 different enemies..what are you after here? A 20minute trailer with just a scrolling list of enemies with pictures for you?
@@GodOfAI_this is true typically. But DD1 had plenty of variety. So I’m assuming DD2 will continue with that trend.
Did you notice that you repeated yourself for 20 minutes? i genuinly was interessted until about the 8th minute, then i realized, that you just said the same thing over and over again. skipping through the video and hearing you say the same few buzz words over and over. If you wrote the script yourself, maybe try to keep things as brief as possible. dont get me wrong. if you have to say 20 minutes of interesting stuff, go for it, there surely is an audience. but if you do stuff like this, you will burn people out, it seemed very AI written.
If you play this game often, playing the standard vocations is likely recommended; Fighter, Thief, Archer, and Mage. The up-swing is with the advanced assemblies of party, but you do have to know when to reset and return to basics, just like any other game.
I really dislike roll dodge mechanics. I unmapped the roll key in Witcher 3.
If it's like Dragon's Dogma 1.... It's not for me.
it 100% is
Least you're honest
How much have you even played dragon's dogma 1? Dragon's dogma 1 has nailed one of the things that make an RPG a good RPG (at least the base game), the exploration with little hand holding. I was the same some years back, I picked the game twice and dropped it very early without exploring, but last year I gave it a try when I heard they're making a sequel and it still holds to this day, an awesome game and experience.
I made it to the quest where you kill the Gryphon boss. The game wasn't to my interest either, but if it is for others, that's fine.
Not that how far one makes it in to a game should be a significant factor for other people to judge whether that person should have liked it or not.
What didn’t you like about it? Just curious I have never played it
People now a days think every single game is like "elden ring", so fucking annoying...
I played Dragon's Dogma for the first time last year also. It was definitely a love/hate relationship at times, but more than anything, I I was astonished by the level of complexity that the game was able to balance considering that it wasn't complete.
Great video, I finished the first one recently after 3 resets because I was expecting to have the dexterity I had in other games, it took me that to understand that there’s a curve of learning, after that is easily one of the greatest RPG ever made, totally ahead of its time, the second one will just build upon and expand the original idea Itsuno had.
Yeah i got nothing on my second screen when i used to play Dragons Dogma 1 and i got more into making sure i was ready when i left town the first time i ended up outside at night fighting ghosts and doing absolutely nothing to them. by the time i finished my first play through i had a very well rounded team and a pawn who could tank anything.
Ok, I'm still excited even tho its going to be different than usual. My only worry is about the quests in the game. I'm fine with no hand holding quests, but I'm atleast kinda expecting like some sort of in game journal to keep track tasks that I have. I dont really play for a long ass time so I will forget the things that I've done in-game and need some refreshers.
The first one had a quest log and chronicle so I imagine it will be the same here. Quests also have timers so if you don't start or finish them within a certain time, those npcs will move on without you and that quest won't be available.
Think of it like the npcs have their own goals, ambitions and lives etc. Maybe one of them has a missing daughter that you could find, but if you just take the quest and put it on your back log, that missing daughter may end up dying. Npcs and quests are dynamic, not static.
@@KyloB Oh okay, I just want some kind of log because I sometimes forget priorities in-game on future sessions.
I hope that they entirely reworked the inventory management because it was a pain in Dark Arisen, like having consumable loadouts would be a gamechanger
I think best example of needing to listen to the pawn advice is when there a instance of say, a cyclops that wearing a mask so you can't just hit the weak spot anymore, straight up less you have a really powerful attack but there is a easier method where a pawn says to have the mask off, they will even climb up and attempt to trick it into pulling its mask off, making the fight a whole lot easier as if they trying to teach you how to deal with them.
There a good chance if someone tried to do this solo, they would not even have a clue that would even work cause there really is ppl that just mash the attack button and hope it'll work.
I'm just trying to imagine what the Baldur's Gate 3 solo Honor mode players will try to do playing Dragon's Dogma 2.
I don't think anyone is going to dislike not having the usual todo list style quest markers
I am so excited to play Dragon Dogma 2 that I started to play dragon dogma dark arisen to prepare myself to be in the right mindset since the game is so unique and you must pay close attention to so much in order to succeed in quests and to just go out into the world and find things. I already bought Dragon Dogma 2 and I am ready for it. So excited for this game.
I tried so hard to love DD1, but walking for half an hour between my destinations got old quickly when i had to backtrack. the fact that they have made a bigger world and only included a few sparse extra quick travel options is probably going to be a deal breaker for me; I loved the pawn system, the combat, and world design, but the constant footslogging was a drag.
My Wife and i have been waiting for Alone in The Dark Remake and Dragon's Dogma 2 since the announcement trailers, can't believe the both are coming out in the same week! 👍👍👍
I heard about the first second one I played about 12 hours and realized I needed I think this is the next elden ring or monster hunter where everyone needed it but only so many people will actually sink tons of hours into it
Verily a D&D sim up with the best ^^ Per mention of skill selection, it reminds of how in D1 BBI I could slot ShadowShackle or VortexTrail and keep mobs grouped whilst Ricochet Hunter shreds them all, or swap for Immolation depending if targets are more melee than ranged, etc.
I literally have a dark bishop tattoo. I'm ready.
i honestly was so gungho about being a fighter and just getting in there and button mashin but the more i watch the more i find myself taking a back seat and really embracing the archer class. giving myself a chance to understand the game from a different view. plus i always wanna do archer builds but most games gameplay doesnt support that kind of style, however this one doesnt seem to be the case. nonetheless i am beyond excited to start.
I was gonna go with thief until I saw the archer gameplay. Kicking off of enemies and diving while letting loose an arrow really sold it for me.
I never consider playing as an archer but seeing the gameplay for the class, I am going to start out as an archer this time
The baldurs gate 3 video drew me here.. this is on my pre-order and whole stories are written in tunnels of doom, and D&D… this could be another arena.
kind of similar to Final Fantasy 7 Remake/Rebirth. You have to power up all your characters, upgrade their equipment, and rearrange materias at times.
Agree with the big difference in which we have to listen to our pawns as they give out tutorial hints on foes at specific moments unlike most other action games.
I thoroughly appreciate the Pawn system, it has felt unique for 12 years now
Started DD1 about a week ago and im a warrior. Took me a while to get used to no dodge parry or roll. But now im loving the game. Sweet video. I think it helps highlight the aspects of the game that are foreign to most
Warrior actually does have a counter move called "Exodus Slash" it gives you I-frames during startup and the follow-up does increased damage if you evade an attack with it.
Dragons Dogma was a coop game where you have to play cooperatively with yourself. If you cant strategize with yourself and plan youre going to have a less fun time. That being said, you can still have fun in a really stupid party. I did a playthrough as "The Brittish Mafia", the one requirement in that party was Knives, and it was a blast. It was a mistake, but it was a blast.
I hope it's exactly like I think it is, an improved version of the first one.
The problem of DD is something that happened a while ago with some friends interested in playing the first one after seeing trailers of DD2. They played souls-like games and are among their favorites RPG (like ER, Dark Souls, etc).
They entered or came with the mentality of playing a Souls or a typical open world. When they played and saw what really is, a few of them started to love it even more and the rest dispose it and never touched it again.
For the newcomers: if you are approaching for the first time DD. Play it like something new and different because is something truly unique. It’s not Elden Ring, it’s not Dark Souls, it’s not The Witcher or Baldur’s Gate… If you compare, you’ll not enjoy it.
ok something people haven't said are the consequences of death? like do we reload last auto save infinitly? option for before or during encounter? may be the variable that decides if try/continue to play or not? i want to love it.
If its the same as the first one, which I imagine it is. You only have one save file, there are autosaves, but you can also manually save while not in combat. Autosaves and manual save overwrite the previous save. You die, you go back to the last save. There are also checkpoint saves, which are basically autosaves made when you rest at an inn or camp. These overwrite other saves, but are only overwritten by another checkpoint save. So you also have a kind of backup save you can load manually in your last (hopefully) safe location. Well I think I've made that sound quite complicated, but in game its actually extremely simple. Die, hit load. Run half way across the map and don't want to lose your progress, hit save. Easy.
Genuinely, the biggest consequence of dying in Dragons Dogma, is wasting your time in real life. This game has little to no fast travel and everywhere takes forever to get to.
