You are right everyone hpfp. Unfortunately I did replaced that. Did not solve issues. Replaced the high pressure sensor. Still not solve the issue. Now doing the fuel filter and low pressure sensor. I'll report back. Please do the least expensive first. Good for you an not listening to everyone.
Id recommend an oil catch can for your leaky valve cover. It helped mine out. Make sure you get one with a filter to relieve the crankcase pressure. Easiest way i found to do it was getting a pcv delete plate and tapping some hose fittings on it. I got a kit from amazon for $20 and just got a higher quality 3/8” hose. It came with a cap for the intake manifold where you can install a boost gauge so i picked one of those up too. Great video though i had the same issue with mine and it ended up being the fuel filter. Im glad you caught it before you installed that hpfp. I didnt catch it in time and ordered one just to hit a wall again lol
I’m getting a P0089 code. Plan to replace the low fuel pressure regulator and the gas filter. OEM parts. The engine light turns on when the gas gets under 1/4 and has a hard start, eventually takes off like a jet after a while. Slow start definitely. I also replaced the gas cap, it had cracks. Hope these resolve the code issue.
@@roywalker270 I have the 2007 a4 avant which had an oil leak. My leak was from the oil filter housing. It's plastic so it's a common fail part for these Audi years. Check there for any oil leaks as well.
I have the exact same problems as Jones. Same code along with P0301 which I'm guessing is because of the P0089 code. Watching this video I'm going to replace the gas filter first. Hope it helps. Driving it like stutters when in drive and CEL flashes. It normally goes off when I let off the gas. Car rides perfectly fine in sport mode. Also I noticed my car drinks more gas than I drink beer lol. I love the 06 B7 as I just got it two months ago
Goodness buddy i almost spend a ton at the shops. Thank u so much for showing this exact same problem i have. Yet i already got the high pressure fuel pump changed out which was about $600😭. I believe i can tackle that filter myself🙏✊.
I have an Audi A4 2008 2.0 changed the old filter which now I know comes with fuel pressure regulator in it! I changed that and after driving around my CEL came on went to auto zone and P0089 code showed up valve for fuel metering (N290) and fuel pressure regulator preformance. Idk how regulator can be the issue if I just changed it! I also changed the fuel pressure sensor, Mass air flow sensor. Also checked EGR valve and its fine. I can't figure out what else to fix! I do have a small oil leak and it is on the engine, could that have anything to do with it? I'm going crazy with this P0089 code now that I changed what it should be!
my 1.6 ALZ in a4 b7 turns on when he wants it. There are no errors in the diagnostics and he sometimes turns on sometimes not. Was it hot or cold. Is it maybe a fuel filter?
My 2006 audi a4 6-speed manual with rebuilt motor ran great untill i replaced fuel pump and fuel filter. Now the car cranks but no starts.. i do smell fuel in the engine and has sparks on ignition coil, also replaced crank position sensor but no luck. Any ideas what might be?
That’s a tough one. There is a “thrust” sensor on the fuel rail right behind the dipstick. I have read when those go bad that it could cause a crank no start issue. You can see it between the first 2 runners of the intake manifold. Very easy to get to, take the screw holding the dipstick tube out and move that over to the side, pull the electrical connection off and get a deep well socket and long extension and you’re there. Hope this helps!
Also chk Cam position sensor .. mine went wonky once .. on the street, I took it out and looked at it put it back in and I haven't had a problem since. .. I better order one 😤 now .. just in case ..LoL .. Good Luck 👍
Cam follower do go out ALOT and its cause the cam itself is trash. Cam follower is the case 80% of the time.... And buy obd 11 its vagcome for ur phone its amazing
Hey man can you send me an email? I’m experiencing some similar issues on my TSI ( yours looks FSI) I drove my car and the car wouldn’t hit high boost also cuts in and out bucks around when under load
Hi sir I am having the same issues have replaced everything I can think of on the fuel system and I still have the code and car stalls a little after it hits 2800 rpms

Do u happen to have a picture of it ? Im thinking to do somthing similar because of same leakage on the side of the valve .
Great B7 dude .. I have had mine since 2009 ... Just change your Valve cover and or gasket .and that seepage will be solved 👌

Sounds like a solid plan. I hope your problems are solved!

Your video was very helpful. Thanks
Holy shit huh I built my car from the ground up and this is what I overlooked, thanks brother
Thank you for your video, simple and effective
same probs moved on to leaking injectors replaced 1 but they are pricey got chessed off with it now.
Not sure if the oil can travel, but under the high pressure fuel pump there is a part underneath. I forget the name. But it will start to leak oil
Vacuum pump ?
So basically..a fuel filter that's not the right bar can restrict the proper fuel flow?
Basically. They wear out. Also the filter acts as a regulator that can become defective over time.

fuel lines, fuel pump, replace clogged screens or filters etc make sure you check all of those three things out
Fuel filter without regulator can make problems on this engines?
@@TheGorank1982 probably! I cannot say for certain. However, I did not have issues after this install.

Trying this out today
Good luck! Let me know how it works out for you.
Should you use an OEM fuel filter or would any fuel filter suffice?
