Duff kinda reminds me of a version of Keanu Reeves in the rock industry, he's zen and chill but anarchy, really warm and a lovable guy, never negative, might not be the best at what he does but his passion and love for what he does vibrates, he has his own style and at the end of the day he's Duff McKagan, a legend and a brother and a father and a son. Respect.
Every band has the chill dude caught in between the two egomaniacs. Duff is that dude for Guns N' Roses. He's such and awesome guy and underrated bass player.
Joe Romano there's always that person who gets along with everyone. They are the glue because it would never hold together without that dynamic. But even they have breaking points lol. @@michaelbrady3885 Duff was an extremely heavy drinker for at least a good ten to fifteen years. He was very close to dying but got help before it was too late.
@Michael Brady I'm reading his book, and at his height of drinking, he was drinking ten BOTTLES of wine A DAY. His pancreas burst because of that, and ended up putting him in hellish pain from the internal acid burning his guts.
It's amazing he only took bass lessons half way through his career. Amazing because he didn't need to, but still was hungry to be better. Actually pretty inspiring.
I like Duff.Hes cool and nice guy. I guess all of them are. Even Axl and Slash. They've matured enough. Gonna watch them in Singapore in February. So excited.
They had to steal them one at a time at rehearsals until one day Stevie goes" Hey Duff didn't i have more drums"? lmao They wanted him to have that straight ahead 4x4 on the floor beat with his "popcorn" bounce you hear on Appetite! Problem was back then Steve was a huge Kiss fan.
@@jonevans870 Duff meant they got rid of his big set of rack toms, like a set of four or five, so he couldn't do stereotypical long heavy metal fills. Steven of course still had one small tom and a floor tom.

Sweet Jeez, I've lost so much respect for Paul since his book came out and he talked about how bad every one else was around him since about birth and how great he was. Can you imagine Kiss beginning without any ONE of those guys. He was the hardest on Peter that aftermath was that Peter didn't want to be Peter. In my Kiss days, I loved all Pete's songs with Hooligan as my favorite. Ace's songs were right there with him for me. I thought and still do think if I hear rock n roll all night I would run an ice pick through my eardrums. Love Gun was the same way for me. The first time I ever saw Guns was when I was still a 15 year old metalhead transitioning to a punk. "Sweet child" was playing on mtv, and I was in heaven. As soon as his bass came into the song, it went to a place that was destined to write music history.Try to imagine this song without the bassline, go on try it. It is more important than the guitar riff. It is the glue that brings everything together, while complimenting the guitar part at the same time. His basslines always have stood high on the mix, for the obvious reason, there were too important to have an "and justice for al"l thing happen to them. And then I saw him wearing his CBGB shirt in the video, and I knew that he was a punk with a glam metal haircut.
Same! He asked me for directions in Wellington, New Zealand in 2017, the day after their gig. Super polite and cool. I thought he'd be taller though! I'm just under 6 foot and we were the same height. I imagined him being towering! 😂
I met Duff Mckagan in 97 at a bar/restaurant in downtown Nashville. Made an ass out if myself bc I was told they were there and walked by them 5 times. Once we figured out, oh there they are... I was embarrassed and he said, "awe come on now, we don't bite"
