    I enjoy listening to duff. He comes across as a guy who realises how lucky he is to be alive and to get a second chance in life and with guns n roses still being so popular. And to have a happy family. Good luck to him.

      totally share your sentiments.
      Jonesy is 100% "London Cool" oratory with not insignificant dusting of relaxing elocution style & calm confident command of his mother tongue typically indicative of the relative quality of the education system once upon a time back when the ranks of talented teachers were abundantly stocked with locked & loaded live ammo proven methods 4 solid learning 3R outcomes inc. corporal punishment not least such that a disaffected truant street urchin from the 60s & 70s fond of "nickin' stuff" & all other types of rebellious wrong ide of tracks skull-duiggery can also not infrequently pull upon the most tasteful top shelf elegantly stoned "decorum " & eloquence, proper table manners, flattery & charm simultaneously delivered whilst sneakily taking the piss with dry as a chip metaphoric irony dusted off with a not infrequent refreshing capacity 4 brazenly honest revelations of measured self deprecation & authentic shows of grounded humility that equally makes no apologies in healthy respect for the proud ego of one who not only was a certain "famous someone" from the golden age of rock n roll but who now clearly still is kinda "someone" that somehow miraculously managed to survive after living through the eye of a violent hurricane vortex of what essentially is an extended period of wild & unhinged ultra hedonism as a destructive cultural change agent whatever be the nihilistic rock n roll swindle moment in true Dionysian times past under the microscope topic of rolling unscripted candid discussion conducted totally on the fly with scant chronological details now often barely recalled by the rose coloured sensory shades of Steve's synapses flicker & fire 2 faintly form a persuasive point of view about something of genuine intrigue no doubt boundlessly interesting tales from the bottomless bag of infinite artistic creativity, hard core debauchery & rolled gold scandal, ripping yarns with endless appeal & why ?? Destruction was the last proper hard rock record. Grunge and shogazers filled a void for a while. Then came Radiohead and the like. I consider myself to be lucky. From ethnic sounds, Metal, Punk, Reggae , FuturePop. To Jazz, Funk and Classical. Love it all. I was 5 when George Harrison released My Sweet Lord as a single and i was hooked. Good music will never die.

    As the only teenager in my area that loves rock n roll, it's sad to see that the only people who share my passion are mostly older adults who believe rock is dead for good. It's so sad to see what's become of the music scene in general. If I wear a band shirt in public, I get laughed at for it and people make you "name three of their songs" to prove you're a real fan. I get laughed at daily for listening to "old people music" or "a bunch of dead guys." On one hand, we have the people who think they're better than everyone else because they only listen to mainstream music, and on the other hand, we have the people who think they're better than everyone else because they don't listen to mainstream music. It's so hard to find people with not only your same musical taste but musical attitude. Personally, it's really funny when someone tells me I can't possibly listen to rock music because I'm only 15. It really sucks that to be a musician you have to be the pretty blue-eyed blondie who can hit all the high notes. No one lets music be music anymore. Rock n roll s my one true passion, but society doesn't allow rock musicians to have a chance anymore.

      You are right about all that and it’s why I think this society not just in music but also film, tv and entertainment media in general has been degenerating for decades! As the years go by it seems as though originality, true uniqueness is lost or ridiculed and conforming to act, look, talk and use social media in the same mannerisms and aesthetics is praised. You can easily say f off to those people and have many reason to justify why you don’t associate with them!

    What could keep the rock train going is to have the kids who like the older artists and songs to form new bands and recreate the classics, still have hope that out of nowhere a bunch of new artists will come about to try and bring back that vibe and shot in the arm the music scene desperately needs, rock isn't dead it can still be found on media outlets and has recently been made into movies, but man! a garage band would sure be nice to hear about these days.

    Rock isnt dead. Whats wrong with Rock is that it isn't mainstream enough like it was back in the 70s-90s. People blame the younger generation for only liking rap music, but thats not the case because many teens fell in love with Queen and Motlëy Crüe when they had their movies out and their songs became trending again (so much so that it made crüe go on tour again). I believe that there needs to be a band like Van Halen or Led Zeppelin (not music wise) that redefines the genre again, and give it something original and new for this generation. Someone can argue that Greta Van Fleet is a hot band for this generation, but it sounds too much like Led Zeppelin, and they will always be condemned like a Led Zeppelin "copy". If some dudes can make something new and likable, rock will come back stronger than ever.

    My theory is that
    a) It's "too hard" and "takes too long" to be truly great at an instrument (everyone's excuse). Nowadays you can just fake it with technology.
    b) Back in the day, you HAD to be good live, so people would tell other people to go see you at the club. Today, since everyone makes music, and the internet exists, there is too much shit to choose from and it's far too diluted. There is probably another GNR caliber band out there, but how the hell do you find them? Most young people avoid seeing random bands play original music at the bar these days, and quite frankly I don't blame them as most of them suck.
    c) Influences - as time goes on, new bands influence new bands, and older influences start to fade unless kept alive!

    • @ryandlion6961
      @ryandlion6961 5 років тому +2

      Now you're getting into the philosophy of the life of rock n roll,I've thought this before. I'm curious as to what,or if you've come across anything nowadays that is in the same vein of gnr,or rolling stones or something. Because I have come across quite a few modern hair bands,but it's just so gay,unlike the ones from the 80's wich there were a few then that peoplethought were gay,but these guys now take it to a whole new level. And you got those kids that sound like zepplin,but that's just it we all know who they're ripping off. And so called what's consided rock now has taken so much influence from the whiny grudge crap. It makes me just fucking sad hearing that shit,like the seether type crap you best believe there's a new version of those type of bands every day. You can look up modern rock playlist and it'll just be nothing but those guys,I once thought Attila would bring it back a little at the very beginning,but of course they went more Down their grindcore rap way,to appease the fans.

    • @TheRiz
      @TheRiz 5 років тому +1

      @@ryandlion6961 Most modern music lacks the blues influence, and that is the major issue. The badass rock and roll sound comes form the blues. You don't even need to listen to actual "blues" but those beautiful string bends with epic feeling definitely come from that time period.
      It's extremely difficult to play like this so most people skip it. But guys like Clapton? Slash? It's all they knew...
      My own band Night Mission is directly influenced by Iron Maiden/Queensryche. Our singer is the x-factor, he can actually sing and hit those high notes.
      Metal has devolved into blowhard growling because again, it's too hard to actually sing, so any asshole can scream into a mic and bam, you have a "front man."

    Rock and roll is NOT dead. Bands are still putting up posters, playing for a pizza and some beers. The difference is that rock and roll just doesn`t have the monopoly anymore. But there are great rock bands out there. You just have to search deeper to find them. And that`s what rock and punk was all about, wasn`t it?

      I love it too, because they point to bands that either A. are simply copying older bands styles or B. Are somewhat experimenting, but in the same light, are just doing what has come before with modern elements strapped on, so nothing really new. I can't count how many people tell me to look up bands that are underground, thinking they are unique and different, yet, being older myself, I'll be like "This shit was done decades ago by Sonic Youth, Melvins or Bauhaus or Joy Division....whats so special about it?" Oh you have a heavy, distorted band with bluesy riffs, you mean Pentagram or Black Sabbath? Ok cool, nothing new then. "Hey Look, this rock band has a lot of electronics mixed in!" Oh you mean like Nine Inch Nails?
      I know it makes me sounds like an old person bitching, but I listened to rock (and other genres) for decades because it was new and exciting, it tried different things, now that doesn't seem to be the case. It seems it went from break your new sound into the public domain to sign the deals, bow to the labels just to make that buck because you don't want to live in a shithole.

Believe Australia & Japan likewise. It does seem sadly the U.S perhaps has seen a drop off in recent years but it will come back. O2 London now the planet's busiest live music venue many rock acts so not all bad for sure.
