2018 Tiguan with 75k miles on it or 120,000 Kilometres, and it has been great so far. I’ve only had to do new breaks all around, new front cv boot and bushings, regular oil changes and maintenance!

Nice video, handy to know the Tiguans ideosincrocys and fixes. Thanks for the info. Mostly things you should be aware of, but few things great to know when going for a service.

I've had my North American Rline for 3 years now. I live by gravel roads with harsh winters where the snow can be deep outside a city.
This Tiguan has been amazing for handling offroad use and highway travel.

I own a 2018 Tiquan SE AWD with turbo and love it! 2 minor problems replaced/ fixed under warranty- 95,000 km. Interior suites my aesthetic- german simplicity- and great acceleration when needed on our crazy highways( Canada). Previously owned VW rabbit- loved that too but hated dealership servicing at that time! Again great to drive! Like a truck in snow with extra wide radials- no snow tires needed!

Im on my 3rd tiguan i drive the 2020 1,4tsi version so far at 45k km i have face recently my air con unit has a pipe that dislodged leading to a water leak into my interior took a week to disassemble the car and reassemble it , airbag sensors died during this time as well, wobbly gear knob connector issue so i couldn't engage gears properly. Everything is sorted recently did a DSG tune as well as a stage 1 tune, car runs like a dream now wouldn't have it any other way. The water leakage hasn't hit me yet :) All these issues i feel are wear and tear i used to have a toyota rav and honda type r both brands have their own issues as well. I love my VW wouldn't have it any other way. I have a 5yr warranty so im happy with what i got.

In 2018 bought a Brand new Tiguan Allspace Rline 6 months after we got it had water pouring in at the rear seatbelt turns out to be a pano drain issue. A year later same thing happened seatbelt all mouldy carpet all mouldy had to fight to get VW to eventually buy the car back from us. Not the well made brand from years ago.

    • @jamisteven1

Is he saying Helldex on purpose instead of Haldex? Like how we say “Meadowhell” instead of Meadowhall or EcoBoom instead of EcoBoost? It hints that the Haldex system has a bad reputation?
Also doesn’t ADAS mean Advanced Driver Assistance System?

VW used to be top of the game. Then the accountants and marketing people got more powerful than the engineering teams, result, VAG has gone down the pan. Korean cars are better made and more reliable now, such a shame.

You're joking right? I mean I agree that Volkswagen has let its product line slip quite a bit, but to say the Koreans are better is laughable. Hyundai and Kia have had major issues and major recalls. They're anti-theft system doesn't work and they've had multiple recalls related to electronic causing engine fires.

I have a 2012 VW Tiguan with 102k miles. Thus far I’ve had to
    - Rebuild head and timing
    -Oil leaks
    -low oil pressure
    -sunroof leaks
    -trunk jamming
    At this point I won’t even accept a Tiguan a a gift.

Got a new 2016 2.0Diesel when they launched. Had a bucket load of issues with cruise and also had my gearbox replaced. It's on 75k miles now and I'm loathed to get rid of it as I know it's been properly looked after. It thows a gremlin message every now and then with a 'leave in P' but i just ignore it. It's a well packaged thing, lots of space but pretty boring

Hi! Do you know of any problems with brakes coming on" all by them selves"?
My 2012 Tiguan just got really hot front rightside calliper and disk. The car also shaked when driving. I stopped and it straightened itself out. Can the "Auto hold" function have to to with frontbrakes hanging ?

I have a mk5 golf 2.0tdi, 178k miles, no engine issues, no gearbox issues, no cooling or emission issues.. New VW cars seem to have all these issues. Sometimes I do wonder if things are going backwards, and if new cars are designed to fail before 100k miles, so we are encouraged to buy electric.
Btw you missed telling the nice folks at home about the waterpump driven by the cambelt, but has a shroud that goes around the pump fins electronically, to stop flow and meant to speed up getting upto temp, well the shroud gets seized and then you have no/limited flow and cooling of the engine.. you can buy replacement waterpumps without the shroud and I strongly advise it..
So many bs things added to new cars that aren't really needed and only cause issues down the line, plus more expense.

Another common problem not just Tiguan's or VW for that matter is Direct Injection which because gas doesn't go through the intake ports any more like with older Port Injection the intake valves (and Intake Ports) get carbon deposits that build-up which has many bad side effects hard starting, less power, and poor fuel milage. Expect to pay dearly to have ports and the back of valves cleaned around every 50kmi...

Are the 1.4 TSI engines reliable ? Do they burn oil a lot ? Thinking of getting one for around the city that I live in. Don’t need a diesel vehicle for long journeys

    • @larryhouse3776
      @larryhouse3776 9 місяців тому

I had a 1.4 jetta for 4 years and 140,000km. It would burn enough oil to be low after 10,000km without a change, a quart to top up would get me to the 15,000km service interval, the oil still looked good at both those times. It would never burn oil in the cold, only during the hottest months of summer is when I encountered it ever being low.

I wouldn't touch it personally at that cost. You can get a better car for much cheaper. My car is an 18 plate and has had endless problems. New timing belt at 4.5 year old as was ticking. Just been recovered to VW as the clutch pedal sticking - needs new transmission and clutch is now fecked because of it. Or if you do buy it put a warranty on it. You'll need it

I’ve had to change my mechatronics unit after 65000 miles for £3800 at WV, DPF sensor at 70000 miles for £100 and had to force a regen at £150 the interior lighting on the panoramic roof on the right hand side went and got it fixed for £160. Leak into the boot from a blocked pipe from the panoramic roof but I fixed it by cleaning the pipe.
