As for the engine braking part… I am hitting the peddle pretty much as hard as it will take but in most road cars ABS will kick in anywhere from 60-100 BAR. We are braking from 100mph-0mph in a short distance. Meaning the full retardation falls on the brakes and mainly the front as the rear of the car is fundamentally in the air at that stage, this means that if you are in a rear wheel drive car that there is next no engine braking and in a four wheel drive like the Lambo with a power split front to back favouring the rear again next to none. No if the automatics didn’t go down the gears on a race track or corner entry, this cause the car to push on a little on brake release and potentially induce some under-steer, but that’s not the same as 100-0.. Downshifting would only be beneficial to the braking if the limiting factor was the strength of the braking system (i.e. if the vehicle has weak brakes), because doing so would use the transmission to produce engine-braking, thus assisting the normal brakes of the vehicle to decelerate the vehicle. Daniel's face when he's braking at 14:12 and 16:06 had me rolling 💀💀😂
The sound of the Lambo though 😍
Audi V10.
@@MV-yp8ilthey used audio money to make the engine. It is LAMBORGHINIS OWN ENGINE DO YOUR DAMN RESEARCH. Audi just took the engine to put into the r8
@@MV-yp8il It's a variant of the Lamborghini designed V10 5.0 that Audi simply *modded* to increase it to 5.2. Originally Lamborghini designed, Audi modded 5.2 V10.
I remember watching Richard Hammond review the performante on the grand tour, been my favorite huracan ever since not to mention it's still the fastest version
yes and its very surprising to see it keep up with latest hybrid cars, that mclaren should be toasting it but the huracan can keep up with its N/A V10, crazy amount of engineering needed to get that type of performance.
@@kishlayverma6622with that sweet sound
8:15 is one of Carwow's finest, I laughed so hard!
My dude forgot this is going on youtube for a second
Absolutely man😂
Matt is one of the luckiest persons in the world to drive so many cars
Sam was absolutely brilliant in this. I wanna see him and Yianni on camera next time the two of them are in a video. Absolutely hilarious
Racing on a narrower runway than usual really puts the speed in context. I think this looks wayyyy better.
Hearing the German anthem and the Italian one back to back gave me flashbacks from F1 with Vettel winning for Ferrari :') Damn that Porsche is iconic!
I thought u meant other flashbacks
@@th3_scarpon560 same here 👀
Nah that would have been PTSD
@@projectmayhem7996 not necessarily...
Awesome race! I love the info Mat gives us
Yeah like his confessional!!!
Those turbo s 911 is absolutely crazy. Piece of engineering. Excellent performance car. Drag race. Daily. On the canyon. And have a lot of room to modify as well.
this has to be one of the best carwow drag races ever, Yanni was the only missing piece
Sad
Call me crazy but I'm STILL choosing that absolutely sexy Lamborghini Huracan Performante!
you are probably the most sane person among Porsche fan boys in this comment section.
Totally agree
Based. Good choice.
Brilliant!
Love the way the porsche leaps off the line.
Great fun.
Perfomante is the best and most beautiful Huracan. Specially the forged carbon and Italian flag at the side makes it look more sexy. The grey colour looks spectacular on that Lambo
I don't know what it is, but this has been the best carwow drag race in a while, might be the new shots and formating or some other things idk, it was just more enjoyable than usual
Say what you want , but the Huracan sound GLORIOUS
I love the "wrong" subtitles when Daniel is talking german 😂 btw greetings from Germany love your videos ❤
I’d take the Lambo all day long. If only for that glorious sounding NA V10 engine 👌🏻
And the looks!
V10 best engine ever. I had an M6 amazing sound in tunnels
@@paulscott4058 Usually that V10 in the M6 isn't the best example.
@@amarjit_singh_ it's debatable
@@MrVocalist567 Haha.... It's not the most reliable, almost everyone established that!
*Out of all the videos, the rolling race in this one genuinely shocked me when it came to all of the different results. Great video regardless. The triple brake test was cool too! The best part was the Italian accent though.* 😂
Those drone shots are amazing and you guys are more awesome!
Turbo S advantage is all in the first 50m. The launch is incredible
911 never cease to amaze me❤️💯what an absolute master piece of engineering! 👌
a big THANK YOU for finally having drones to shoot the start of the race. a major improvement!
5:25 ''just like a german its probably going to win'' history says otherwise if im not mistaken
That Lambo looks ultra aggressive 😍😍😍
I just noticed the McLaren and the new c63 have the same hp. That would be an interesting race to see how much the McLaren wins by!
the mclaren would obliterate it...the c63s weighs over 2 tons and is less aerodynamic
@@shabz_carz yep comparing apple to oranges c63 is not a sports car
@@daviddee7103 it's more of a sports saloon
@@shabz_carz most likely yes but many people often say „oooo u got 20 more hp than me“ this would show how much difference weight and drivetrain can really do
Much better when cars are closer to each other, pure dynamism ❤ great video
Porsche engineering is insane🔥🔥🔥 What a machine!!!
Even after all these years. Whenever I hear the German anthem followed by the Italian, I think of Michael Schumacher in his Ferrari days.
What a period in F1. Screaming V10's in small light cars. And Michael and Ferrari being brilliant.
That Porsche is something else ❤
There's no way carwow can do a supercar drag race without including Porshe ❤❤❤❤
I’d still take the Huracan. You can’t beat that sound!
That was one of your funniest videos! Kudos to Porsche, incredible performance from the Turbo S as always. Cheers guys
Sam using engine breaking and down shifts to assist breaking 👍
I was more surprised by the launch of the McLaren than the Porsche.. already knew the Porsche would kill it but damn Rear wheel drive McLaren launch is crazy good.
Drags race of 650-700hp class. Nice. Never stops amazing car guys Carwow
I think the lambo stopped in shorter distance because Sam was shifting down gears to help the breaks while Daniel was just holding on for dear life haha
The Lambo did not have to downshift in order to win; its brakes can easily block the wheels anyway. Therefore, those downshifts were immaterial.
I think too the same thing😅, because was down shift continuesly , braking is more easy...
@@zix_zix_zix when we talk about a 5.2 fsi engine, believe me..... it is not "immaterial", the appropriate expression would be differentiator... .
@@zix_zix_zix here is the proof ua-cam.com/video/uUl9745d3mg/v-deo.html , the same car different results
@@vehiclepremium5120 I don't think you're getting my point. When you're braking with a Performante (i.e. with a car equipped with one of the strongest braking systems in the auto industry) the only limiting factor is the grip of your tires; NOT the brakes themselves. Downshifting would only be beneficial to the braking if the limiting factor was the strength of the braking system (i.e. if the vehicle has weak brakes), because doing so would use the transmission to produce engine-braking, thus assisting the normal brakes of the vehicle to decelerate the vehicle. This is clearly not the case here.
Best car wow video in months, I love it when Matt just makes wild jokes
Take the traction and transmission out of the equation McLaren is the quickest. And it's not even close to being the top 5 quickest McLaren models. Crazy
Porsche 911 Turbo is such an amazing machine. I’d love to daily drive one but with my track attraction perhaps a GT3 would be better?
Great video once again!
The GT3 is the better car as is the GT2 but if launches for a 1/4 sprint are your thing then the Turbo is where it's at. The GT3 just makes such an incredible noise and it's willingness to rev is heaven for a petrolhead.
@@LeeXRVturbo s beat the gt3rs on a track on carwow 😂 on a track with less curves the turbo s eats the track made gt3rs, kinda crazy
@@gahagahabahaga1289 It's a GT3, not that road legal race car, 3RS!
@@gahagahabahaga1289 - this isn't too surprising the GT3 has always been about the driving experience, not the pure pace. It's massively outgunned by the Turbo and without enough corners, braking zones I'd expect the Turbo to win as it has the straight line advantage and will also have an advantage out of some slower speed corners (more power, AWD allowing for earlier application of power).
@@gahagahabahaga1289euh no, nurburgring times tell a completely different story
Of course the 911 looks like a daily and keeps up with new supercars well done porsche, well done
The Performante is old though.
It’s always a good day when Carwow delivers another banger of a drag race during lunch
This is the best episode ever.
The Porsche Turbo S has been a drag race problem for so many years, amazing how the Germans stay ahead for so long.
In brake tests, Sam changing down gears and others not using gearbox to slow down.
...I have seen that too
It does not matter. The brakes on all those cars can easily lock up the wheels, theyre always at the ABS threshold.
The performante was soo good in the rolling races
I knew it porsche could be winner for drag race but according to other cars that huracan suprised me showing its age still can smash those cars in different challenges being naturally aspirated
9:19, when that Porsche spoiler starts rising, and the 911 Turbo starts taking the lead, it's stunning.
The Italian accent had me dead every time he did it 😂😂
911 Turbo S - what an engineering masterpiece!!🙌
Hi Mat.. Your car reviews are no. 1 and fantastic…..
This ain't a car review mate.
Love the drag races! Carwow, would you be able to do some sort of review comparing an r8 to a 911?
The 911 turbo S never dissapoints on the drag race
