Three incredible track-focused supercars, going head-to-head over the quarter-mile! Mat’s sitting in the Ferrari F8 Tributo, and this week he’s lining up alongside a McLaren 765LT and a Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
All 3 of these cars are packing some serious power! Starting with the Ferrari F8 Tributo, it’s powered by a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 720hp & 770Nm of torque. It weighs in at 1,435kg - slightly more than the McLaren 765LT, which is 1,339kg! The McLaren’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 puts down an impressive 765hp & 800Nm.
And then finally we have the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, which is the heaviest car in this line-up, topping the scales at 1,470kg. The GT2 RS has a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine producing 700hp & 750Nm, making it the least powerful car here, too.

@@CLSTRN911 the 765 is literally a 720 with a remap, straight-line speed wise of course. And the 720 came out in 2017, as did the 720S, a few months before the 488 Pista upon which the F8 is based.
The 765LT is eating a lot of cars for breakfast, lunch, and dinner it's amazing how fast that car truly is.

GT2RS is a monster. Incredible how well it did for a track-focused car. We all know McLarens are nearly untouchable in a straight line for the 7 hours/year they actually work.

I've owned a few Porsches and I've always been amazed at the way they drive. And the seats are so comfortable that you can drive for 12 hours straight in one without getting a sore butt.
Depends on the model. A turbo s would be the way you described, but not the gt3rs

all three here are monsters, but only the 765 LT has run low 9's stock. Drag times did it. the GT2 here is gorgeous, and i Love the F8. so this was an incredible race. thanks Mat.

Well there is a race
They're all winners in my eyes. When McLaren says 765hp, they mean that as a bare minimum, it's likely more than 800. The Porsche is half a gen behind, but their drivetrains are so capable that it's worth an extra 50hp with a bonus of phenomenal traction. And that Ferrari is a base spec vs two track spec cars yet it didn't exactly embarass itself.
Its probably a legit 765 at the wheels.

It is though.That’s the entry level Ferrari supercar. The GT2 RS is the fastest Porsche around and the Mclaren is the fastest thing they produce right now. The SF90 is more like a competitor to the 765 (which should actually be called the 865 since that’s more similar to its real power)

Mclaren have the best performance but to be a perfect match in this race he had to change the F8 tributo to the 488 Pista who match perfectly the 911 GT2RS Weisach package

Hey man shout-outs to Porsche for building such an amazing car. That thing is setup for a high speed track, has all the aero stuff, was the heaviest and has the least power and did so freaking well. That's dope!
Some things to think about: both the 765LT and the GT2RS have huge amounts of aero (and thus drag), so their performance against the F8 has to be well-respected.
But, as much as I love all three cars, it has to be the F8 for me personally. The 765LT and GT2RS are heavily compromised vehicles. Both are exceptional around a track and offer better pure driver experiences - but the F8 costs less than either of them and manages to keep up well considering it maintains daily driveability.
You wouldn't hate yourself after 2 hours of driving down British roads in the F8 unlike the other 2 cars, and yet it will still perform the way that you want it to when you decide to have a bit of fun. It just about loses to 2 of the most extreme vehicles produced by 2 very reputable and competent car brands - but will just about beat everything else. It's so well-rounded and lacks any serious flaws, that is something that you just have to applaud Ferrari for.
The only complaint with the F8 would be its aluminium chasis - but the fact that it is still able to compete with the best of the best despite its almost ancient platform just inspires even more awe. Best CAR in modern times - by far.

I don't know if the driver didn't do it justice or what; But the 765LT can easily run sub 10 down a 1/4 mile; 10.1 seconds was a little bit too much.

Especially considering the 765LT has actually around 850hp under the bonnet (see dyno tests online).
10.1 with RWD is amazing. As fast as an AWD Turbo S, 0.5 behind a Chiron.
911 turbo s has like 100 less HP though and 300 kgs heavier
It’s ran a 9.3 on the strip! The fastest nine electric car on the planet over that distance!
Thus runway has awful grip and it was cold.

Quick suggestion, can you please put go-pro cameras in other cars to record speedometer, that would be quite good to see also. Other than that, you are absolute legends, love watching drag races but also normal car reviews, keep it up!
Finally! I've been waiting for this drag race for so long and boy was it worth it all three of those cars are incredible and did a good job I feel like in the future you need to go back a few generations and drag race a Ferrari 458 Italia vs McLaren MP4-12c vs Porsche 911 GT2 RS (997).
