  • Today's review: the Sig Sauer P365 X (a 9mm sub-compact defensive carry pistol). We take a close look, discuss, and of course shoot this relatively new offering from Sig.
    Towards the end of the video, the question is asked & answered: does it 'check all the important boxes' for a concealed carry pistol?
    You can learn more about the this model on Sig's website: www.sigsauer.com/p365-xl.html

    You are so spot on with not needing a red dot sight for a conceal carry firearm for self defense. I have enjoyed this review. Thank you.

    Great review of the P365X. Your advice about trying the pistol before buying is spot on. I was dead set on the G43X until I rented one along with a P365. I shot the Sig better and was overall more impressed with the ergonomics and build quality of the Sig. I’m glad I shot both before making my purchase decision. Keep up the great reviews!

      Same. I went to store to get a 43x. But had to feel a x and xl and standard small one. I didn't prefer the pinky on the mag rest. Then on to a x and xl. Hard choice. Bringing it up. It seemed the xl got on target milliseconds faster. Balance seemed better. Like a slim 1911. Though im not a fan of 1911. More to do with slide length. I eventually got a 2nd xl and might get a x.

    Good review Dave! I wouldn't say that if I didn't think you were well qualified to propagate information about the firearm in terms of your own experience and knowledge of the subject matter. I have the original P365 and love it. I didn't at first, though, because I had the problem you mentioned with the tip of the striker breaking off, after less than 250 rounds fired. My trigger reset spring also broke but that was a minor issue and an easy fix. Sig Sauer customer service is wonderful and they fixed my problems no questions asked. 1000 rounds later, after the fixes, I am running "hot, straight, and normal" with the P365. I can only assume the P365 X is also a very fine gun, and it seems to be as you've demonstrated here. Keep us posted as you put more rounds through the gun.

    I have no problem with my red dot, love it. My 365X works perfectly with all ammo I have run through it. I have no issues dropping and changing magazines. Trigger works great for me. Using a mag loader is easier on your hands, that is for sure. I have a hellcat also and the recoil is not a problem for me. I love how both guns feel and run. Shooter preference.

    You make some really good points. Not enough reviewers recommend taking a potential new firearm for a "test drive." I have a P365XL that I carry when I need a little narrower profile than my P320 X-compact. I selected these two pistols (after test-shooting several) because they both have very similar X-series triggers that break at 90 degrees with very similar pull weights. The shape of my rather larger hands causes me to prefer the grip of the P320. But I like the 365XL for all the same reasons you pointed out with the 365X. I also use the Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P JHP for my defensive ammo. I've yet to have a malfunction with either of the firearms I carry. Very nice review, I just thought I'd offer my two cents to help out with the algorithm a bit. Thank you for bringing us this review!

    • @jamesdent5737
      @jamesdent5737 2 роки тому

      So I have the p320 xcompact and I love it. I have been looking at the p365xl as well. Is the grip significantly thinner in the palm? I like the chumminess of my gun but would like a slimmer carry sometimes. I haven’t gotten the chance to test a p365xl out for myself yet

    • @Axe_six-six
      @Axe_six-six 2 роки тому +3

      @@jamesdent5737 In my opinion, the grip on the P365xl is quite a bit more slender than the P320 series. I find it a bit more comfortable to carry, especially IWB. But I still usually carry P320 because I have pretty large hands. The 365xl is a great pistol, but personally, I'd like the grip to be a little thicker between the front strap and back strap, to give my support hand a little more real estate. It is also almost 0.5" narrower from side to side. That helps with holstered comfort a bit when you need to minimize printing risk. But that said, I can still shoot the P365xl very accurately and it's been 100% reliable, even in my big ape hands. lol. I hope that helps answer your question. If not, feel free to leave a follow up message and I'll reply. Take care and stay safe.

    Good review. I'm sold on the elegant simplicity of the P 365 X. It's very clean and doesn't look like it would snag on anything. I was checking out the XL version but it's a tad bit oversized for my liking. I'm still looking into the Hellcat and Ruger Max 9. Thanks for another thorough, common sense review. I opted for the original 365 which gives me the option of a short 10 round grip or the x/xl 12 round grip with the available 12 round mags, which then gives me the exact grip as the x/xl. Bro - you have some big fingers! Mine aren't quite that big but I do need the X frame to get all my digits on the grip, I had to add the longer grip after I got the gun. I live in California and the only one available here (at the moment) was a sub compact version with a manual safety. So I got the longer grip frame and ditched the safety, much happier now since I'm normally a Glock user and the safety thing was weird to me. You're absolutely right about the red dot sights, they are a personal decision (and are GREAT for accuracy) but may not be something you want in a EDC gun (I don't either). And the neat thing about these SIGs is the modular approach, change out the frame OR the slide with the whole FCU concept which is fantastic! Great video and thank you for making it.

I tried carrying it in my white hat hybrid holster (ISWB) and it just disappears underneath my shirts. I also carry a glock 26 with a G19 15 round magazine plus the Xgrip and TLR6. Your video was awesome extremely informative!! It made me want to run out and buy the firearm right away but I got to save some money up!!! However could you do a video on how to switch the magazine release to the other side for left-handed shooters such as myself ?? I appreciate it and keep the videos coming on the Sig 365x !!!

    I purchased one of these a few months back and carry it everyday. I have probably put 500-600 rounds of various target ammo. Not shooting any of my defense ammo right now. I have had zero malfunctions, it feels great and is very accurate.

      @@cyron1313 it doesn’t look as bad as the images I have looked at online. It’s definitely tear dropping the primer one direction but not significant drag mark. I was shooting my19x on the same day and I can see a difference between the two in the bag of spent bass. I’ll definitely take a closer look next time I take it out and keep an eye on it as I put more rounds through it.

      Dave I have both of the guns you’re talking about. I’m not a Glock fan boy but that 19X is hard to beat. I have 12 pistols and kinda think I’m a Sig guy then I shoot that 19X and it’s like shit this thing is amazing…

    I recently picked up a Sig P365XL with a Romeo Zero red dot already installed. One of the first things I did was to install the Mag Guts 14 rd. conversion in both mags; well worth the price. The modified mags are indeed easier to load and feed flawlessly.
    Not really a big fan of the Romeo Zero co- witness rear sight. I would prefer the rear iron sights on the P365X. The rear sight plate was not in the box so I guess I'll have to go hunting for a rear sight.

    Dave not gonna lie I get excited when you post gun review videos! You're honest and thorough, but unfortunately it usually means my savings account takes a hit haha. Your S&W Model 60, Colt Classic 1911, and now this video were deciding factors for me. I've been looking at the 365X for a couple weeks now and was excited to see you posted a video on it. Keep up the great work!

    I feel the same way about the mag release you mentioned at 7:05, my thumb works the same as yours. I love this gun and it's my EDC, but if I could change one thing it would be that mag release. For example, if it could be set straight backed 1/4" that would be fantastic. However, it's still my favorite EDC as is.

      I agree 100%-I have the Sig P320. I use it for my dedicated home defense pistol. That is only to a 12 Gauge shotgun 00-Buck.- The P320 is to bulky for my body. I shoots like a Cadillac-Just to big for a carry.- I think I may upgrade the trigger and spring system on one first-just to see how I like it Armory Craft has some good looking products.

    The 15 round magazine comes with 2 different size tail pieces. The long one is for the 365 regular frame. there is a shorter one to accommodate the 365x and 365xl which is about 1/2" shorter stick out . I love mine in xl version.

    Well done presentation! I'm looking at one of these too. What do you think of it after a year so far? I just picked up a S&W Shield Plus, and WOW! Pure sweetness! I'm thinking I want a this Sig too. I agree with your points. I DO NOT LIKE IT when folks tell you that you need to shoot distances to defend yourself. Defense is up close and personal. I mean close! Like 3 to 5 feet. You DO NOT NEED, in my opinion, a red dot optic. As a matter of fact, probably even sights. If the bad guy is 40 feet away, that's a good thing! He's "over there" If I'm in a parking lot, filling up with fuel in my car, walking into a store, those are the distances I'm talking about. One last thing... PRACTICE, practice, practice! Bad guys don't practice. I practice.
    Also Thumbs up and just subscribed.

    Excellent review video. I just bought my P365X a few months ago but haven't gotten it to the range yet. Got some cheap reloaded target ammo and then spent money on some Hornady Critical Duty 135 grain,. Curious how it will do with 135. It's not +P but every review I've watched shows crazy pass through with the Duty, which makes me a bit concerned. However, the 115 grain Critical Defense, I'm not really sure about in a 9mm. I've used the Defense in my 40 cal GL23 though

    I just bought one. I agree about only putting 11 rounds in the mag. These Sig P365- I have the 10 tround as well- are best when broken in ove a period of time. I clean and lube frequently. I love the holsters -IWB with 1,5 belt cover, claw and a body /skin protector. I hardly know it is there. I am 5-8" and 120 lbs. I love the fact I can easly appendix carry.- I am living in MPLS. I am going to have to figure out a winter carry. Probably my Glock 19. Easier to grab.
