Recently used the 5ah battery on their 12v impact wrench and was able to take lug nuts off off fairly easy. It breathed new life into that impact wrench.

That’s great to know. I was looking at getting into 12v tools because I don’t need heavier duty tools like 18v. I was looking at the 12v kit from Dewalt that comes with the drill driver and impact driver but I can get a free tool with it and was thinking of the impact wrench. I do some light duty mechanic stuff at home which would require me to take off lug nuts and was wondering if the 12v would be enough.
@@Nicky14P yeah. It will be plenty for working on your car (99% of the time). The impact wrenches included (as freebies) with that kit (they offer choice of 3/8" or 1/2"), are rated for up to 250 ft lbs of TIGHTENING torque & 400 ft lbs of LOOSENING torque.....which is PLENTY. ShopToolReviews does a video on the 1/2" (DCF901) & those specs are legit.
I bought the 12V Impact Wrench from Lowe's and they threw one of these in for free! I took off a tire, bottom panel, and had to break a rounded bolt and it didn't even lose 33% charge! Great battery and tools from DeWalt!

I have the 12volt 3/8 impact wrench from Ryobi it’s great
I love 12 volt as well but I’ve always kept quiet about it. I get kind of embarrassed whenever I pass up all my beefy 18v and 20v tools in order to use my 12volt Milwaukee and Bosch drivers and drills. Listening to you has made me realize I have nothing to be embarrassed about!

I really hope they expand their tool line in the 12v. I like the feel in the hand better, but I have 6 of the Milwaukee m12 tools and it wails be a lot to switch unless the expand.

This is literally the exact test I’ve been looking for on UA-cam for weeks. I still have my old 12 V Max drills that I love, I wondered if that new battery would wake him up.
I tried it. lots of power but be carful not to let the smoke out.

@@NarySllimyes. The original batteries will easily kick out on overcurrent when things get tough. The 5ah doesn't quit.
What a difference!
My wishes: DeWalt had a larger lineup in the 12v Xtreme line to compete with Milwaukee (which I think with their 12v Fuel / Surge would blow the doors off DeWalt), and that includes a 1/2” hammer drill-driver instead of the paultry 3/8!
(But heck, at least the charger in the kits is the same 12v/20v chagrer you get with DeWalt 20v kits, so that’s a plus!)
Also I’d like to see you include Skil PwrCore 12 in your comparison testing (which does have a 1/2 chuck but I don’t think offers a 12v hammmer drill yet).

Yea I love my 12v tools and I got the 5ah batteries right away and boy I was surprised that there was that much of a difference between the 2 that I only use my 3ah battery for my speaker

Fantastic video! After I saw this 5ah battery test giving a power up on the Dewalt XR 12v, I already purchased 4 for me to use on my favorite Dewalt 12v! For light jobs I love my little Dewalt DCD701 and DCF801! I have several Dewalt DCK2110L2T kits manufactured by “Germanic” kits with 3Ah batteries and so far they have been excellent machines! Currently the 18v / 20v are always the last choice. I even stopped using Bosch, and Milwaukee, which were my favorites. And after watching this video I also had to buy it to check it out. I also have a kit of these 2 models from Dewalt that I bought there in America cheaper than here in Europe, I made the purchase through Amazon, and it was mainly to compare the performance. I hope you don't get me wrong for what I'm going to say! But it is a really superior difference in the performance of Germanic manufacturing. It may be just another coincidence of the variable situations. But there really is quite a difference. Thanks MCT!

I bought the backpack kit from lowes on sale for 150, ended up buying 12 of the tools a few weeks ago for the 99+free 5 AH battery at lowes and made myself an awesome kit, my dad an awesome kit and am making my brother a kit for his birthday. We have plenty of 5 AH batteries between us and selling the other ones on ebay ending up bringing each tool's cost to around 40 bucks....can't beat it..

Love my 12v Xtreme set!!! I received the 1/2 impact today...I put a 2AH and the 5AH on it.. I’m going to test it tomorrow.. Just by holding it in my hand and pulling the trigger..I can tell that this one has ALOT more torque! 👍

@@ManCaverTools I received the DCF901B yesterday.. I tested it today.. only had a torque wrench that went up to 150ft. lbs.. it took my lug nut off like it was nothing at 150 foot pounds!!! It’s a beast!!!

Hi I've got the 20 volt DeWalt line up and recently switched to the 12 volt line up , much easier to use less fatigue. Have you tried the 12 volt bandsaw ?
I wish Dewalt would release more of these types of 12v tools so they can compete with Milwaukee.

Like you, for no real reason like the look and feel of the 5AH battery.
I use tools kind of different I guess
I use 60v circlular saw. (Not used often but more power for weird angles or just working on old houses with that old lumber that’s twice as tuff as the stuff we use today.)
20v xrp drill (for some larger holes while handling concrete anchors into actual commercial grade concrete.)
And finally I couldn’t pass on the 12v extreme impact driver. On sale for $99 at Lowe’s w/ charger, 2 of the 2AH batteries and a carry bag. To top it off they are running a special if you bought it or some of the other extreme stuff you get a free 5Ah battery.
Honestly you can drive 3inch deck screws no problem beyond that I’m using an impact wrench.

The screwdriver and drill are supposedly are the same. Only the chuck is different.
Can you chuck up a screwdriver bit in the drill, and see how it drives screws in both speeds compared to the screwdriver?

I don’t like M12 because of the horrible grips. I bought the DeWalt 12 volt extreme because I love how comfortable it is and I was willing to do without the little extra power. However this 5 amp hour battery helps close the power gap to the M12.

Can anyone speak to run times between say a 5AH 12v vs a 5AH 20v? I’m heavily invested in the 20v line and don’t want to carry an additional charger a separate tool bag. But this video is making me think twice.

The difference between the 3ah and the 5ah is more than just capacity... there are 2x as many cells, which are in parallel, that helps reduce voltage drop under load. That's why the 5ah didn't cut out as it drew more amps.

By the way the older brushed 12 v drill has more power and does not shut of or time out I no because I have both
If someone can 3d print the black bottom portion of those batter I can mod the 2 amp hr battery I have into something much larger and in crease the proformance by a lot.
