I have a 2012 T5.1. This method of removal worked a treat for me. Thank you. I bought a lot from eBay that has replacement plastic pins. They sit on top of metal, thinner pins that are screwed into the frame. Just pull off the old ones and replace. I also replaced the 4 pins on the runners at the back (included in the £9 kit from eBay). The sprung closures were also worn out on mine too. The kit had everything. Followed this video and now have a nice dry window and no risk of knackering the conversion with water damage

What I don't get is that there are lots of reports where these windows leak in brand new vans, as soon as they have left the dealers. Wear on the pins, in such cases, does not seem at all likely to be the cause.
Thanks for this video, I’ve removed both of my sliding windows and both plastic pins were worn, (one was seized shut due to the pivoting arm rusting ) I pulled off and renewed all the plastic pins from a repair kit from eBay. I also fed in strimmer wire through the rubber seal with wd40 into the top hole / seal join first to bulk the seal out as you mentioned at the end. Leaks fixed 👍🏻
Just found your vid and used it to fix mates T5 THANKS! As someone else says I purchased a repair kit to fix window catch and this had replacement pins included as well which I just tapped onto the metal pins and no more leaks:)
Hi there. I just need to add that at your comment "pathetic little hole" you are actually dismissing the fact that, that is actually a drain hole that does get blocked. There are a couple newer vids showing how to clear the hole, I did mine and the results are encouraging. However your vid is good too and I used it to do what you've done as well.
Great video mate... You’ve just saved me buying silicone and one of those applicator guns. :-) I’ll give that a go and hope it works. I have the same problem with the interior panels a little bit warped through the wet. Just need to get those sorted and carpeted and then off to slidepods in July or August for the pod. I tried this fix but was surprised to see my pin had not flattened on one side, I turned it anyway. Still have a leak though, I wonder if the rubber seal has flattened. It does feel like its not closing up tight.
Had I issues with my t6, couldn’t stop it leaking the gutters can only divert away so much water. Checked the pins and they are metal on the T6 so issues there, but got some 3mm strimmer wire and pushed through the seal and it worked a treat!
I'm going to have a crack at mine at the weekend, I'm wondering if the repair kits on Ebay for about £8 include new pins, there's a couple of sprint loaded rods with round pins on the end. My front drain hole housing has been cracked in the past, so even if I keep them clear, my offside slider still leaks down the inside of the door. Cheers for the video. Very useful.
Ah, on the later T5.1's (mines a 2012), the pegs are metal not plastic, so weren't worn at all. Because my drain hole housing is cracked on one window, i'm going to have to try the silicone grease method.
This whole isue just got a lot worse - a T6 Kombi had it's slider window fall out due to corrosion behind the slider bottom rail caused by the known leak problem . The rusting [ which is hidden from view ] causes the bottom slider rail to sag / drop and the slider window falls out . A very serious safety issue with catastrophic implications .

I know this is from a few years ago but what is the name of that set of tools. i will be lining my van soon and they would be really handy.

My window is seized on the bottom in the centre and will not open,
Did you have to remove all the mechanism (handles etc) to remove the window?
Michele Occhi no. If you look you can see I used levers to ease the windows out. Be gentle.👍🏻

Ja. Sie können den Stift einfach drehen, damit er nicht flach am Gleitkanal anliegt. Dadurch wird das Eindringen von eindringendem Wasser 👍🏻 verstärkt
