Thanks for this very good and very easy to copy video. I have a T5 and this bottom bracket has just failed. I have ordered one and will be replacing it tomorrow.
Very instructive video. Is was great help for me however I had to change the right door rollers ( lift driver car ). Specially how to support the slidingdoor.
Isn't lubrication of that track part of the problem (if you enable them to slide, rather than turn..) would have thought friction is what is required to enable rollers to function?
That's a valid point @Cheeckymonkey114 I guess if the roller is even slightly sticky on its bearing then yes it would be better to grip on even a rough surface, than to lock up and slide. (causing flat spots) The issue is, that regardless of paint quality, that area will inevitably become bare untreated steel with the roller running over it. So the application of an Oil or grease as a 'mobile' coating is the only realistic way to stop it very quickly rotting. A genuinely insightful comment. Thank you
good easy to follow strip down , can you show how the sliding door stays open ? mine will not , the lower rollers are in good nick and theres a spring loaded hook , but nothing for it to engage ?
Over a year later so I'm not sure if you've solved the issue. Depending on the design the little swinging hook mechanism on the roller guide is usually connected to the door with a bowden cable which forces it clockwise when the handle is in t closed position - it pulls it anti-clockwise when the handle is pulled. This hooks it to a little stalk at the back which then locks the door in an open position. If the cable is worn then the pressure is not enough to force it around the stalk and the door stays open even though the door handle is released. The bowden cable is not connected to the guide is this video because it uses, or appears to use, the retaining spring mechanism
Great video, nice and simple to follow and would have worked first time Had I watched it fully and not put the new bracket in upside down …. I re-watched it at the important bit and it’s working a treat now. Cheers!
Mine was quite a bit different to this, I had a plastic cover initially sitting over the roller lower bracket ( piece being replaced ) then once removed I had a plastic piece which housed the twisted fibre metal pull mechanism to activate the latch / spring. Plus another bolt on the piece you have yo remove to enable you to remove the runner. Was all a bit of a faff by comparison :)
I think mine is like yours. A plastic cover over the roller and it clips into the end of the run so you have to open van Doorn to close. It's a T5 kombi 55 plate and I am not very good at these sort of things! Do I need a different roller?
I watch all your vids and just bought an 01 carnival red coupe with dark charcoal interior, (looks blk to me) I desperately want a center console lid without cupholders and I cant for life of me figure out how to view ukebay or allowed to download app. My brain is already wringed! If you can just tell me do you see the item I want over there? I pick up car Tuesday eve and can't wait to get my blow dryer on the very milky dash. God I hope it works! Lon Kraus

Not my first Jaguar as long ago had 03 convertible in dark grey that was beyond gorgeous. Currently I own an 07 xk coupe in silver that has build date late o5 Serial # 00045. It's my pride and joy and I treat it with kid gloves. I also want a late model i6 xjs coupe but that's proven very hard to come by with a California smog certificate in hand. One day I'll complete the trifecta amd if I ever win lottery I think you know what I'd buy next!
You make this sound so easy but it is not. Can be a nightmare when the bolts round off. The final bolt can be impossible to get to without removing the door. The two you remove are also not easy to get out. you were lucky.
The difficulty in so many jobs is either not having the right jobs or indeed fasteners that have corroded, or someone has already damaged with the wrong tools. I feel for you Kevin🤞
This is the best kind, of instructional video; calm , free from background musicand without self dramatisation. Very clear and helpful
Thank you👍
Great video, turned a trip to the garage and a load of expense into a half hour job on the driveway 👍
Glad to help Gordon
I have found better not grease any part or slide in there as the dirt/dust sticks to the grease and stops the roller rolling eventually 👍🏻
Great video easy to follow and saved myself the stress of finding a garage (self employed) won't lose a days pay
Glad it helped
Great stuff, very helpful and clear, cheers.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much. Has been said in other comments but a clear video and saved me a fortune on garage expenses.

Will this be the same for a soft closing door? Steve
Hi Steve. Ive never owned one with soft closing doors but I imagine that this would not utilise a different roller system.
@@ToTheGarage thanks. Will let you know when I’ve fitted.

Thanks help me find the right hand version. Will be doing this job soon 👍🏻

Where did you get that metal door plate?

Interesting. Was it a Caravelle model with electric doors? or some other high-end variant?

What does the spring connect to
Hi....what size spline bit is required?? Cheers!
It's not torq, it's double square!
Spline bit fit perfectly
great video, thank you
Very well explained
can you please share the exact type (name) of the "spline" bit you are using?

Can I ask where you got the new roller from ? I’m Nottingham based. I’ve noticed there’s some on Amazon but they’ve got mixed reviews
Hi
i ordered mine from 'JustKampers'
@@ToTheGarage I ended up getting one from Amazon. Rolls great but gets stuck when the side doors all the way open ? Can’t see what it’s snagging on 🤔
@@flippflopps4026 I think you have to operate the door handle twice to release it from the safety lock. (stops kids cutting their fingers off?)
