Should I liquid cool my GameBoy color? BTW, this console is for sale on my website now, in case you wanna take a shot at fixing it up: www.jrobgaming.com/products/water-cooled-xbox-one-s
While this mod is useful for keeping APU temperatures down, I'm mighty concerned about airflow over and subsequent cooling of the Memory, PSU and VRMs.
either way this idea is basically useless on any xbox one/ series console because i never sa one of those overheat but this whould make much more sense on a ps4/pro because i seen a lot of them with overheating issues after 1-2 years of use and i also had a ps4 pro that started overheating after 1 year, cleaned and replaced thermal pads-/paste twice and it still hadn't changed anything
@@Fusion05 Both the GPU and the CPU on the Xbox one were clocked slightly higher than the PS4, but it only had 12 GPU compute units versus 18 on it PS4, which is where the extra power and heat went.
Yh I was thinking that. The cooling set up for these consoles is built to ventilate the hole console as this water cooling solution isn't built for it and likely just bolted straight onto the motherboard for aesthetic appearance. No way is it as efficient as the original design. I would pay around $100 for that console just to strip for parts 😂
Would be awesome if someone made case replacements for the new xboxes that were completely transparent. Trying to do it for ps5 would be really difficult.
One thing i would improve was to add a heatsink to the memory chips and put the radiator right above the opening of the original fan, the original cooling system was also refrigerating the ram, psu and other components, so if you remove the air flow from these components it will probably burn over time
I also did this to my Xbox One S. As far as the cuts not being straight it is due to the material that they use. The material melts away while using a Dremel. After it melts it welds itself back to the material making it very hard to remove and get a clean cut. Even after sanding for hours I got a similar result.
I was confused for the first two minutes as I assumed this was a "Series S". Makes sense now. I was trying to figure out why the seller gave you an old controller with a "new" system hahaha.
when making those cuts via cutting tool to the case you should file the rough edges off with a file then sand the edges with a fine sandpaper to make it all smooth and a much more perfect cut. most dont.
Had my xbox one s 6 months now and it been beautiful, no problems at all finger's crossed 🤞compared to my PS4 which was noisy as fook! But I did buy it off a junkie for £30 though! Lmao
11:38 the Only benefit is that it runs quieter, Or should anyway. Unlike typical CPU's APU's Or Gpu's ect, consoles APU's do not "boost" the core clocks, They run at a locked "pace" so you wont gain any actual performance doing this. In fact you May actually lose some do to inadequate cooling for the memory chips and PSU. But it looks cool. I would recommend finding a way to mount the fan Under the radiator so that it is pulling air through the console and blowing through the rad. This will help get some of that airflow inside the console back that was lost by removing the original style fan. If you wanted to go a step further with this mod, you could get some of those universal tiny heat sinks and some thermal past and place them on the memory and such. You could also Dremel the case where the radiator mounts and allow the fan to breath free, increasing airflow all around (especially if you mount the fan under the rad against the case).
You ought to try to learn how to test the modded systems you buy. While mods can be interesting or cool cosmetically, I would like to know what benefits there are or if any at all to the mods.
10:35 Ugh, 2 point mounting and no X clamp. Also, this is a PC cooler, so the seller probably just eyeballed the clearance. He mounted it straight to the thin motherboard, not the metal frame on the back (9:52). This thing could be mounted too weak or too hard, resulting in a possible warping of the board and weakened solder joints. I'm surprised this thing survived shipping. You are going to have problems with this down the road. Also, if you are not going to return it, I would recommend swapping the battery covers, so the black one goes with the blue controller.
Yeah I mean I can’t imagine most people putting a liquid cooling system like this in an Xbox one s are being real precise. Probably just something they thought would make it look cool
It's funny how back on the 360 you could solder the wires for the rgb but now people just run the USB cable out the back. I did this on the Xbox 360 and it lookd great with no wires showing
Don’t get how this dude has a following. He’s been showin up on my recommended lately. He doesn’t seem to do any research on any of the consoles he reviews. He just points out little minute things that don’t really matter.
NOT CRITISIZING BUT ! The fan should be blowing up not down... the key is to draw the heat away, not to blow the heat in. simple fan flip should resolve the issue. ALL IN ALL, Pretty Kool 😎 Update to an SSD drive as well, that along with the liquid cooling should speed it up ALLOT 😁
It is not more efficient than air actually air is more efficient than liquid cooling depending on the liquid cooling device, however the way those tubes are bent and the fact of the coil is going to wine in the way that is mounted it's going to be annoying after a while
From somebody’s who’s been custom water cooling for 5 years now, you are absolutely correct. Liquid cooling is essence is not much different from air cooling, both rely on the travel of a fluid through a transport medium (Copper Heat-pipes, polymer Tubes) from a place of high heat concentration (cold plate) to a lower one (radiator). In the case of this Xbox, it is likely to benefit less from a liquid cooler than its stock air cooling. The thermal dissipation of the APU is not likely enough to warrant much of a difference. To add, this xbox has other internal components that rely on the incidental airflow from the stock top mounted exhaust fan of which by removing and replacing with liquid cooling will be sure to reduce the life of other temperature sensitive components such as RAM ICs, PSU and APU Voltage regulators. However, my argument may be made redundant depending where the radiator is mounted. The ideal place for the radiator would have been over the original fan vent on the top of the console and have the fan run in a pull mounted on the top where hot air is exhausted upwards rather than down, this would restore most of the incidental airflow needed provided the fan speed and actual airflow characteristics of the fan used is enough to make up for lost efficiency when blowing through a denser liquid radiator as appose to a less dense air cooling fin array.
@@P2PC Liquid done right is more efficient, look at automobiles. They were once air cooled too. Thats beside the point though, these APU's in consoles do not run like typical ones youd buy and install or get in a prebuilt desktop or laptop. MAYBE...thats a tough call, it may actually be louder with the fan outside..
That's pretty funny. As you pulled out the blue controller with no grips I had the same blue controller in my hands with no stick grips from my lab puppy lol.
That console is disgusting. The standoffs the radiator is mounted too is hysterical. You should watercool your Gameboy Colour and everything else you get your hands on for the sake of it.

This thing is pretty badly made. Between the tubing being positioned against gravity it's probably creating air bubbles in the loop and the tubing being constricted, I wonder if this AIO is even actually working and even if it is I can only imagine is running so sub-optimally that the default cooling solution may even be better. That's not to mention this AIO's gonna burn out fast. For this to be practical, you'd kinda be better off either doing a custom loop or making a custom case if not both being needed.
Liquid cooled, rgb led's and a window. No power button, the disc eject doesn't work. You have to pair the controller via usb, and eject a disk via controller. Why sacrifice so much for so little?
