I just bought a new old L8IGHT that came with a still in the box RD os. Can't wait to run this car man. Seeing your videos pop up on my news feed is what got me back into RC.
Great information on plugs I stick with the standard p3 an it’s all I use in my ad2/ad3 an all other os motors an play with springs an drill out alum shoes thankx
Newbie here. Thicker element inside the traxxas stock plug. I bought some plugs from Amazon and the element is thinner. Pls explain if that’s hotter or cooler The smalller thinner element is it hotter 🤷♂️or cooler Or do the numbers depict the temp of the plug
Hi Adam what’s you’re take on using a standard plug on a turbo button head? I’m a little confused on if this will be noticeable. And advice would be helpful. Thank you🙏🏻
I found P4 more reliable during my OS 2104 (gimar ufo mars evo) engine break in process as it wont let overheat my engine on the track. With P3 got it running a bit too hot over 140 C after runs and if I set it more on the rich side to cool it, it stalled for some reason. And the P3 died way too early as well I think because of the high temperature. With P4 it never exceed 128 C and no stalls even if I set it a bit richer. Once the engine get looser i think i will change back to P3 to get more performance.
Hello Adam, in Europe with 16%EU fuel (so really 12%), many people have switched to P4 because of the added compression from removing a head shim to gain back power. Is this a logical solution or should you stick with what you ran at 25%?
The Problem Start with 16% fuel we cant get 25% any more 🤷 just makes it difficult to tune ,but what would you do to make it easyer to tune with 16% fuel ?🤔
Got my AD3 for my truggy. First nitro engine ever in my first ever RC build. When it came I taunted my wife and teenage children not to touch it like it’s was gold now it has fingerprints all over it. 🤣
Hi Adam. I have always run novarossi engines. I usually use a novarossi medium hot plug, as I find this has the best run time. Does this sound about right
@@tonysands2837 we mostly used odo plugs with nova engines as the taper seems similar. If you plan on going with os plugs stick with them especially on nova engines. Taper is slightly different between os & nova.
If he’s popping plugs immediately it’s a rod that’s lost the bushing, if he’s losing the plug after a few minutes but the engines running good it’s either tune or the engines simply sucking in dirt and ruining the plug. He may not even know if it’s actually the plug going if things like the bearings are bad or the engines sucking in air threw a leak. Engines are very temperamental, my best advice is take the engine out and tear out down and clean everything very meticulously and put it back together. Feel the bearings and look for things that may be causing the issues. The engines aren’t that hard to tear down and identify the issues.
This was perfectly timed with a discussion over on RCTech. Thank you!
Thank you!
Very useful information and video regarding the glow plugs keeping in mind the variety of glow plug types available.
Thank you!

Yes! This one is HUGE, I’ve had no clue what is what in the plug game, makes sense why I’m seeing what I’m seeing in my engines. Thanks Adam🤘🏻
My pleasure, thank you!
Great info. Thank's for sharing Drake 👊👍💯✌

Thanks for the info! I stick to P3 100%. Love the consistency of OS!
Thank you!
Awesome, thanks 👍
Awesome 👏 thanks for sharing this info appreciate it cheers
I use O.S. LC3 glow plugs those Gold turbo plugs look cool.

Wonder if going from hot to ultra hot will affect top end ?
I know it will feel more punch from low to mid. But what about top end speed.

I would remove the shim and use the P3 gold plug.
@@AdamDrake and about venturi for 12% nitro, which one you would recommend? TIA
The Problem Start with 16% fuel we cant get 25% any more 🤷 just makes it difficult to tune ,but what would you do to make it easyer to tune with 16% fuel ?🤔
You could try a hotter plug. You could also try to remove a head shim to increase compression.

When I ran Nova, I always used the C6TGC plug.
@@AdamDrake sounds good. Could I use an os p4 plug on novarossi
@@flubber788 Yes, that should be a good option if you can't get Nova plugs anymore.
I had a mate send me a heap of O’Donnell odo97t plugs what would you recommend I use them in ?
what good plug for a protek ls-5 21 engine
www.amainhobbies.com/protek-rc-t5-medium-turbo-glow-plug-.12-and-.21-engines-ptk-2552/p524410
I always thought a colder plug was for high nitro fuel and hotter plug was for lower nitro
I had a mate give me a heap of O’Donnell odo97t plugs what can you recommend using them in cheers
We used ODO97T & ODO77T both on & off-road without any issues. Cheap and good quality plugs. You can use them without any problems 👍
That’s awesome 👏 thank you for sharing this information appreciate you 👍
@@cansoykal what different motors do you use? Os , picco , novarossi,?

@@cansoykal thanks 🙏 mate I’ve got a couple of nova motors definitely 👍 use on them an stick p3 for my os motor’s thank you for reaching out
Spot on.
Thank you!
My friend keep popping plugs very often on a new traxxas 3.3 and he uses 33% nitro why you think it’s too lean 😖?

It’s a brand new engine
