Fun fact, moon actually has short dialogue for being brought a bunch of different objects, not just pearls. Even playing as the monk, who has a bit of an easier time than the survivor, and referencing the wiki for what specific objects had unique dialogue and how many colored pearls there were in each region so i knew roughly where to look, it still took me a real while to see all of the dialogue there was to see. I have to imagine the vast vast majority of players that are interested in the pearl dialogue just look up the transcripts on the wiki, but they're pretty satisfying to collect for those of us with that particular stubborn completionist mindset.
i have been WAITING for you to figure out that the pearls are collectible!! the pearl hunt is one of the most fun things to do in this game, imo -- a perfect blending of what the game offers; exploration, navigation, survival, lore, and writing. super hyped to watch you hunt them down :D
Indeed, I don't think I could have possibly figured it what to do with pearls, and therefore the collection screen, until after Five Pebbles and then it just took me a little while before going back to Looks to the Moon.
There’s 2 important mechanics you may not have learned. First of all you keep on throwing the pearl at moonlight but you can simply drop it where you stand by holding down and pressing the pick up button. This is also very useful for scavenger tolls so they pick it up faster. The other mechanic is, by pressing grab twice quickly you can swap which hand an object is in, this is helpful because whatever object is in slugcats right hand (from your pov left) will be thrown first.
I have learned both of those! I occasionally use them, although apparently not often enough for me to not accidentally throw things when trying to place them down.

Oh, that's awesome and makes a lot of sense. I like it when developers go that extra mile.
If you're willing to collect everything possible in the collections tab, best of luck to you...
Oh, I am willing! I love collecting digital thingamabobs.

Suggestion: bring moon a tutorial man's eye
Interesting...I might have to do that sometime whenever it becomes convenient, or relatively so.
