Better explanation can be found here: bit.ly/3VQ3HZj Q: What's up with the roll button? A: I use virtual controller (I'm a keyboard player) in order to input a specific angle to do a different kind of roll called the fast roll (this roll is faster, allows you to pick objects while rolling, and it can be initiated from a 1 tile drop), which is why you can see I have a roll button in my input display and why you see a controller on my pause screen. A: The time used to end when you see the "Loading..." on the bottom left before the cutscene. This was changed and currently time ends when you enter the last room where the camera follows you because the swim section of the room is completely RNG based due to the void worms pushing you up or down. Love that Void Sea thing, just imagine being in the endless glowing substance surrounded by enormous size worms, slowly loosing your body and transcending. I wish there were another games like this, but have not found anything besides Signalis. Really cool game too, should try it if u like Rain World lore.
For a very different feel but themes you'll recognise and some trippy moments, try Everhood. Yes, it starts out looking like an Undertale-like rhythm game, but don't worry; it quickly becomes its own beast.
I wish this game had more attention to it. Loved the run though, amazing stuff. This game is just so underrated, and I feel like there's so much speedrunning potential too, for a lot of different categories. Unfortunately there isn't a big enough playerbase to have a large speedrunning presence... I might try my hand at a speedrun at some point if I can master the movement system, but I don't think I could ever get to this level
Completely agree! I hope Downpour brings some new runners Also, good luck if you go ahead and give it a try, it takes a while to improve but it's pretty fun
It's sadly bound to be rather obscure due to its unique design choices... If it was less obtuse, it wouldn't be as effective an experience, yet most people can't be bothered with the kind of mental work and perceptiveness it takes for this game to open up. On top of that, it's a western game with a plot built pretty much entirely around eastern religion and philosophy. But it really is a rare and amazing kind of game and I wouldn't want it any other way.
I'll be honest with you, I'm obsessed with this game. I would have bought it straight away if the developers hadn't made it sadistically hard. I can't do hard games that make you retrace your steps over and over because I'm no longer in my 20s and can't play for hours on end. I only have an hour and half in the evening and I'd rather play a game that allows me to make progress.
I would like to say I just bought the game a week ago and have fallen in love with the gameplay and artstyle. You have inspired me to get good at this game. Thank you for reaching the limits of this game and showing the community what is possible. You are truly amazing and should be proud of this accomplishment. Good luck with your future endeavors I hope I see more from you :)
@@Accentric-tq8xi Thank you so much!! This comment means a lot to me. I certainly want to do some Rain World content in the future, specifically animations but I'm still building the skills to do it. Again, thank you for your kind comment :)
me: I don't think I understand this game, maybe I will watch a speedrun to see if there's anything that I need to pay attention to while playing the game also me: I understand even less of this game
I got rainworld about a week ago and I’m watching this all surprised because I didn’t even know 90% of these routes existed 😭 (I’m still at the first weird thing before the filtration system) AMAZING skills!! Love the movement :)
Well, there is no path that goes around the guardians, you always have to go through the room that has two guardians in it. I despawned them using the trick that I explain in the pinned comment.
Between subterranean and shoreline there are 3 blue orbs. They flash bang when thrown. I would recommend taking 2 of them and finding the quickest save point. For me I went left and used the save under the train. From there now you have 2 blue orbs permanently in your safe house. Put one in your mouth and grab a spear and make your way all the way down to the depths. You need the spear to use as a ledge against the wall just before the guardians. Or else you won’t be able to get up and over that way. Once you get to the guardians run past the first one, flash bang the other two, and flash bang the last one and jump over and into the ground like op did.
This is the route I took the first time I played the game, I was very lost! Wasn't able to make it past the Filtration gate, then decided to ask for help lol
Same, I dropped the game back then because I was stuck in Filtration System and started playing again a few years after that, and that second time, I happened to stumble upon the Intended route and managed to beat the game.
I finished a monk run yesterday in 6 hours, (Downpour is finally out on switch and I had to beat a regular run first to unlock the new slugcats) and I felt pretty good about that and it got me curious what speedruns are like for this game. Surely this game isn't actually possible to beat in a "speedy" amount of time and it would take at least a couple hours to have the best time. ... WELP. 🤯🤣 Congrats on 12 minutes, that is insane!
at first i was like "ok nice, he is going pretty fast" then i was like "ok where is he going?" then i was like "ok this is getting trippy asf wtf is going on"
Watching you make the same mistakes as me , as a *speedrunner* who has probably done 10x the amount of practice and research, kinda felt nice. Made it feel less like a mistake and more like something unavoidable or a common problem. (And just to avoid a misreading yes I am saying you’re/they’re the speedrunner with 10x experience 😭)
Well, it's not unavoidable but this run isn't optimal since it isn't competitive enough, there aren't many people running this category. So obviously it's going to be far from perfection, games that are more competitive are much closer to perfection
@@sunx2d i did idk what I’m supposed to do this game is so confusing 💀😭. Is it a chance thing? The area seems important and every other route seems to go to a place I’ve already been
Bro did a better speedrun than (insert here), like Bruv that speed is 3x less the amount of time that it takes me to even finish drainage this is straight up *SKILLED*
This was one of the first rain world videos I had seen and it was extremely confusing. I assumed that Outskirts was some sort of city of sorts and that Drainage System was some sort of sewer.
as someone who's never played rainworld, this looks insanely simple lmao it's crazy how something this difficult (judging from the comments) can look so easy
Well, it could be considered "easy" depending on how you look at it and what you compare it to, but yeah I agree, this game isn't very flashy in a visual sense when it comes to speedrun techniques, compared to something like celeste for example where you just build so much momentum you basically fly all over the place and jump on spikes and whatnot, and it's immediately obvious it is a speedrun, whereas in this game it could look like a normal playthrough to someone who's never played it.
@@sunx2d yeahhh you got it! finding out there's a 92 page movement guide for this game as well as this run being nearly perfect is so surprising. maybe I will give it a shot
wait what?? so you’re telling me the path from region to region ISN’T linear and i could be taking shortcuts to skip the entirety of garbage wastes (for example)???? how did i miss that exit in the first region when you first ran to drainage system…

0:45 Bro, I spent a solid 45 minutes trying to do that little pole vaulting move you do right here to reach that top pole by jumping off the bottom one like that, and I just now finally did it! I was watching your video, going frame by frame tapping my spacebar lol. What I noticed is that to do the back flip you just tap the left or right along with the jump and then tap jump and up again, both of these sequences in quick succession, and definitely separating the sequences by coming off of all of them for split seconds in between, making sure not to hold down any of these inputs too long (that was my mistake until I watched closely and saw how you were doing it) and that finally did the trick. It's incredible to watch you do it in just 2 tries, I must've tried over 100 in each direction lmao.
@sunx2d Yeah it was great, showing the inputs on-screen is much appreciated. I tried using the controller for a while but the directional controls always felt imprecise & muddled together so I've been learning how to play on keyboard instead, which IMO is more precise for this game. And in the case of the Fast Roll move, there's a mod for us keyboard users that binds that to left Alt, so we can do everything controller users can do. I'm assuming that's what the "roll" input you have on-screen is lol.
@@avemarduk Keyboard is definitely the optimal way to play this game. However if someone is very dedicated they can still do pretty impressive things with controller but honestly just play keyboard that's my take lol And yeah I used the fast roll in this run but this was back when we used external software to achieve this, thankfully nowadays runners just need to download a mod and that's it, pretty neat
I have a 5 hour run of the game and i havent even figured out how to get to any of the endings. Im so lost i made it across the ocean and met the blue one, so lost that i ended up in places i shouldn't have been. I dont think ill ever actually beat the game...
interresting run, i don´t know anything about it just bought the game. as far as i can see, you can bug out the cycle by sleeping and reloading the game couple of times. after that bug the game doesn´t spawn enemys in this area... impresiv cheese dude
That's actually not how it works, the creatures spawn as normal. The starve quits are done in order to increase karma and don't affect creature spawns at all. I'm glad you find the run interesting by the way.
@@dronergamer55 The game is very open until the big drop before the Depths, it's very linear since there, there are many ways to get to filtration system
It's not the route you should take since you need to perform a somewhat difficult skip to beat the game this way, and also you need to navigate a dark area without a lantern or body glow if you just go there directly

6:25 Ok question: I'm stuck exactly here but I'm karma 1. I can't go back and there's not enough food. So is it possible to get stuck in the game !?? O_O'

This game is huge indeed, especially now since Downpour came out. I really love every region of this game and I hope I can do some Downpour speedruns soon when I have some free time. 0:46 how do you do this? backflip and then grab the pole and do the jump twice? I tried but it didn't work. Maybe it was because my character was Monk?
Basically you press jump three times with specific timing, one for the backflip, one for a pole boost, and one for an air hop. It's really hard, I would give a more detailed explanation on it but I don't even remember how to do it, it's just muscle memory at this point, so pay attention to my inputs and visual cues and practice a lot if you want to do it, it took me like 3 days to get the hang of it.
I hope Downpour brings some new runners
Also, good luck if you go ahead and give it a try, it takes a while to improve but it's pretty fun
@@painovoimaton That is true. But I think this game has a rather passionate community even though it's very obscure so I'm happy about that.
@@lacountess this isn't really a game where you have to retrace your steps a lot to be fair since it's not a metroidvania
Ps. Love how in touch you are with your community and how helpful you have been in the comments. Again truly amazing
@@Accentric-tq8xi Thank you so much!! This comment means a lot to me.
I certainly want to do some Rain World content in the future, specifically animations but I'm still building the skills to do it. Again, thank you for your kind comment :)

Omg congrats for the wr!
Impressive performance !
I know this man
me: I don't think I understand this game, maybe I will watch a speedrun to see if there's anything that I need to pay attention to while playing the game
also me: I understand even less of this game
I got rainworld about a week ago and I’m watching this all surprised because I didn’t even know 90% of these routes existed 😭 (I’m still at the first weird thing before the filtration system)
AMAZING skills!! Love the movement :)
had no clue there was even a way down through subterranean that goes AROUND the guardians.
Well, there is no path that goes around the guardians, you always have to go through the room that has two guardians in it.
I despawned them using the trick that I explain in the pinned comment.
@@sunx2d Huh, going to read it. It feels like the speed running community cracked this game open like a walnut.
@@xXRickTrolledXx Haha yes, it's a cool trick.
Bro this guy deserves more subs, I’m a new player in industrial and he just teached me a whole lot of things.
Also where’s the rain-
Too fast for the rain to even start 😎
Thank you, I'm happy you learned something
This is the route I took the first time I played the game, I was very lost!
Wasn't able to make it past the Filtration gate, then decided to ask for help lol
Same, I dropped the game back then because I was stuck in Filtration System and started playing again a few years after that, and that second time, I happened to stumble upon the Intended route and managed to beat the game.
This is an insane amount of skill I'm genuinely amazed
Thank you!
I finished a monk run yesterday in 6 hours, (Downpour is finally out on switch and I had to beat a regular run first to unlock the new slugcats) and I felt pretty good about that and it got me curious what speedruns are like for this game. Surely this game isn't actually possible to beat in a "speedy" amount of time and it would take at least a couple hours to have the best time.
...
WELP. 🤯🤣
Congrats on 12 minutes, that is insane!
damn sploaf really movin
at first i was like "ok nice, he is going pretty fast" then i was like "ok where is he going?" then i was like "ok this is getting trippy asf wtf is going on"
This feels like a slap too the face after beating the game for the first time
It took me a whole year to finish the game. It's amazing and, at the same time, frustrating to see someone finishing it in such a short time 😂
Watching you make the same mistakes as me , as a *speedrunner* who has probably done 10x the amount of practice and research, kinda felt nice.
@@sunx2d i think is too hard to speedrun, also nice job you beated the game in 12 minutes and i'm in my third hour and still in the second area
Absolute insanity! Very cool run!
I spent about a week just to open the first gate, this guy is amazing
im so baffled by 1:41, just wow
Amazing run
I could watch this creature jump around for hours
I didn't know rain world was a movement game
wow well played legend
This is a pretty good guide for what to do after getting to looks to the moon.
At least I think, I’ve never beaten the game
It is not actually, you're missing a very important part of the game, which I won't mention to avoid spoilers

Bro did a better speedrun than (insert here), like Bruv that speed is 3x less the amount of time that it takes me to even finish drainage this is straight up *SKILLED*
I didn't knew where to go in my first playthrough, so I ahd the greeeat idea of looking at a speedrun for directions.
The idea led me to hate drainage
This was one of the first rain world videos I had seen and it was extremely confusing. I assumed that Outskirts was some sort of city of sorts and that Drainage System was some sort of sewer.
The story: "I've lost my parents and fell down!"
*Goes into speedrun mode*
*Finds the colony of slugcats in **12:42** minutes*
as someone who's never played rainworld, this looks insanely simple lmao
it's crazy how something this difficult (judging from the comments) can look so easy
@@potatoman5929 If you decide to give it a shot, good luck and have fun!
The thing that baffles me most is how this guy can navigate filtration system WITHOUT A MAP OR A LIGHT SOURCE
Beautiful!
You took away the sluggishness out of slugcat
wait what?? so you’re telling me the path from region to region ISN’T linear and i could be taking shortcuts to skip the entirety of garbage wastes (for example)???? how did i miss that exit in the first region when you first ran to drainage system…
all regions are woven together in different ways, there isnt really even an official path to go
Я за это время обычно успеваю только заблудиться, умереть от ящерец, и забыть про дождь и не успеть дойти до убежища.
~200 часов, не разу не прошел игру. 👍
Рекорд реально хороший, интересно, на каком ты месте.
this slug really just woke up on second day in outskirts and decided to die
Congratulations
Im using this route rn and omg im loving it
Considering this IS possible in game, this is how I imagine a slugcat would move in real life
Imagine being some random green lizard and just see this random small creature zooming
Yeah, it's pretty hard. It took me several days to get consistent at it.
I'm glad this video was helpful as a reference for you to learn this trick
@sunx2d Yeah it was great, showing the inputs on-screen is much appreciated. I tried using the controller for a while but the directional controls always felt imprecise & muddled together so I've been learning how to play on keyboard instead, which IMO is more precise for this game. And in the case of the Fast Roll move, there's a mod for us keyboard users that binds that to left Alt, so we can do everything controller users can do. I'm assuming that's what the "roll" input you have on-screen is lol.
@@avemarduk Keyboard is definitely the optimal way to play this game. However if someone is very dedicated they can still do pretty impressive things with controller but honestly just play keyboard that's my take lol
And yeah I used the fast roll in this run but this was back when we used external software to achieve this, thankfully nowadays runners just need to download a mod and that's it, pretty neat
Relaxing to watch
I know I'm late, but this was beautiful.
Thank you

You normally need max karma level to pass that point, you can get it by talking to Five Pebbles.
bro how did i not know there was a roll button

Anyone want to ask why there were no tall eldrich tentacle monsters with this guy, but in my playthrough, there are three of them.

The Monk : "Brother, Where are you goin😭"
I might be stupid, i was going this route and decided to turn around, had no idea i was heading for the end of the game

9:50 where are the guardians?
They despawned
If i may, around 2:40-2:50 you have reloaded the game twice, what exactly is the purpose of this strat, if it even is one :o

You need to explore further to find more food and recover karma, so you can go through a gate (that's not the only gate that connects to that region)
Survivor really separated himself from his family so that he could ascend without his wife knowing 💀
is this a route just bypassing every part of the game? I've literally never seen any of these screens after you get into the filtration system. I've never fully finished the game (played a bunch when it first came out) and just now started looking into content for the game. wtf this game is huge
