lizards are some of the most complex creatures in the game while also being one of the simplest at the same time. they're also really dumb most of the time to the point that they kill themselves more then their prey a lot of the time

Nature is... truly wonderful, I just wish it didn't do that when I'm trying to show the others how intelligent these lizards are. The pups are crying from seeing this."
Small correction on taming (but, as mentioned, a deep dive is worth, so a simplification is understandable here!): the gratitude sound increases rep. I've had easily-tamed (e.g. Cyan) and apparently not-very-hungry lizards follow me around, initial Dropwig still firmly in their maw, lol. You can take the present out of their mouth (risky if not yet tamed!) and feed it back to them repeatedly, quickly grinding rep, which can be useful with harder-to-tame species like Yellows and Salamanders.
@@vorbex221 I suggest to, instead, spawn a bunch of Yeeks in Chimney (the only thing that gimmick is actually good for), and smuggle them into Industrial. Not only is this easy food for the 2-3 Trains at the bottom of the room after the Chimney-Industrial gate, Yeeks also happen to be their favorite food. The take/give food is not recommended with Trains due to their extreme speed and one-frame instakill bites.
some misconceptions about white lizards: -While faster, they only have a very short burst of speed and will give up fairly soon and go back to camping unless you remain very close to them, if triggered from further they wont even have such a notizable burst, only Vultures, Noodleflies, Firebugs, Dropwigs and Miros birds are able to outrun the slugcat on ground in this game. -White lizards cannot climb ceilings, only blue lizards, cyan lizards, centipedes and Dropwigs can actually do that -Their tongue behaves different than other lizard tongues, instead of using it to mainly disarm you or slow you down while chasing you, they will completely stand still when they catch you and start reeling you back which is extremely dangerous if there is anything else arround since they wont let you go unless you get really close to them or stun them.
Some observations I made in my own time: - no actually, that is the speed they operate at and white lizards will often run when choosing to move. You can see them often use a “galloping” form of movement which is slower than a slugcat on the ground but much faster than a climbing or tunnel crawling slugcat. Other lizards like cyans will often use this gait as well and this is the gait that lizards move with when they want to run quickly. Most other lizards however will move by moving one limb in front of the other in a sort of “walk” most of the time except when say they *really* want a certain prey item, are enraged by the player or scavengers repeatedly attacking them without killing them, or are fleeing from vultures or other predators. The only reason whites give up easily is because their AI tends to prioritize redisguising and waiting in ambush over continuing a pursuit, and those with high energy values can override this urge and chase prey more actively. - all lizards will let go if they reel you in too close. A lizard can’t bite and tongue something at the same time. If you can avoid being slingshotted into the white lizard’s mouth this is a fairly reliable way to avoid dying to them since their tongue has a wind up and cooldown between uses and they are unable to bite the instant you get into reach of them. - this guy missed the fact that basically all lizards have a charge, even wall climbers like whites, blues, and cyans will occasionally charge if they are on level ground (one cyan even does it in his video), but will usually prioritize using their unique abilities over charging. They also cannot charge while swimming.
People unfamiliar with the secret slugcat upon seeing the train lizard at 13:35: "Yeah but-..... Oh my Gawd what is that..... OH MAH GAHD.... WHAT IS DAT?!?!?!" Also more info on the Cyan fun fact! 40:27 When hit with a spear at JUST the right moment during a leap, they will leak some sort of propulsion fluid (similar to what vultures can sometimes be seen spewing when they fly, but black) and emit a constant hissing sound of air escaping while they fly randomly around the room like a deflating balloon. Rain World's devs _definitely_ have a sense of humor. Lol.
Cyan: Appears only in a single place on Survivor with DLC enabled or not at all without, present from 1st region on Hunter - "most commonly found in mid to late-game areas" Blue: Appears in like half regions in the game, including the 2nd region most players ever visited: "a family of stubby critters that make appearances in both mid and late-game areas" Not sure if the early/mid/late classification makes any sense whatsoever in Rain World, unless we are counting the "intented" Survivor route maybe + DLC regions as they appear in their respective campaigns, in which case I still feel like most of those descriptions don't make much sense. Also the sliding trick you've shown for black lizards works on every lizard species and doesn't require you to slide below them, your spear gets bonus damage when thrown while sliding and will then penetrate any lizard's armor Other than that, great video, amazing amount of effort put into it clearly!
It doesn't actually penetrate the armor, right? I think a loading screen tip says that, but it's really that spears are thrown at a downward angle and reflect up. It goes under the lizards head. If they are stunned lying flat on the ground, slide throws will bounce because they can't sneak under the lizards head. It's also not uncommon to be able to stab their open mouth when you are sliding into them if they go for a bite, but that's not really anything special. It effectively 'penetrates' the armor as a combat mechanic but i dont think it actually pierces their armor. It's more of a bypass with a throw force bonus added for good measure. It also doesn't work at all distances, because the spear will bounce back up a bit and can hit the armor again if it's at the right distance.
@@brandflakesinc.9350 ah yea, i was mostly adding to the other comment. I enjoyed the video and i think it was presented pretty well! It covered a whole lot in a fun way without feeling overbearing or bogged down which is good
Train lizards are just red lizards before the 1.9 nerf and some slightly higher stats and no spit, their instant turn speed and high bite radious is what makes them as terrifying as pre-nerf red lizards
The "Useless Trivia" section includes incredibly useful pieces of information. Pinning lizards is one of the most reliable ways of killing or navigating past them, with proper consideration or just being generally opportunistic you're going to commonly pin lizards allowing you to either finish them off, run past or tame them by repeatedly throwing food at them, snatching it out of their mouths then throwing it back till they like you. Mouth spears are a great way of killing or removing the threat of a lizard. Using the tongue as a guide/timing if your spear hasn't been yoinked gives you an almost guaranteed mouth spear if you've set it up properly. Cyans going flying gives you significantly more incentive to fight them so that they're no longer chasing you, in small rooms it's like an extended stun, in larger rooms it can fling them across the entire screen and out of your midst and in rooms with death pits it can send them careening to their demise. Saving lizards is by far the best method of taming them, the amount of reputation it gives from saving a lizard from a vulture instantly tames most lizard types. Lizard's unique voicelines introduced in Downpour allows you to identify lizards without seeing them, potentially saving you from off screen BS. Plus it's a shame you didn't just put each voiceline in as you have a whole lot of footage of them, surely you could've just slapped in them each hissing as an example of the sound they make.
Finally a comprehensive guide to lizards! I'm glad you mentioned the odd quirk about the Yellow lizard alpha, when I found out it wasn't the length of the antennae which determines who is the alpha I didn't know how to articulate it in my own video because of how absurd it sounded.
Some random fact(s): Train Lizards are also called Hurricane Lizards because of the mod that was avalible during the early stages of the game (before monk & hunter got introduced) and that mod being the Hurricane mod. The Train lizard was likely given its name due to the insanely unfair speed it was given. *The Train lizard does not attack large creatures like vultures or the red centipede when untamed. When they're tamed however, they go absolutely ham on them and become a killing machine.* (The lizard was then sourced from this mod for Inv/Enot/???/Paincat/Whatever the heck you wanna call them, just like how More Slugcats was taken in and turned into the masterpiece that is ✨ *Downpour* ✨) Basically what the mod is (Hurricane): Overloads every region with the train lizard (primarily outskirts), locks shelters that would otherwise be avalible by default... and a lot more chaos. Strawberry lizards are nicknamed Zoop lizards because well... ZOOP. That long tongue of theirs being like a grappling hook. Also, their tongues are apparently longer than a white's from what I heard. Caramel lizards may have taken inspiration off the golden lizards from The Drought mod. (I forgot if the gold lizards were from Drought but I swear I remember them supposedly being in there somewhere-) White lizards used to be able to eat Blue lizards in the earlier stages of the game before monk and hunter.
other trivia: - eel lizards have only 2 legs while caramel lizards have 6 - caramel lizards are also immune to worm grass - other lizards also have horns and other cosmetic differences in saint's campaign - green lizards are immune to red lizard bites and deal extra damage to other lizards
In my first attempt at Enot's campaign where I actually made it past Shaded, I tamed a train lizard. Named him Long Dennis. Experimenting with him also taught me that they are immune to centipede shocks, and considering he managed to 3v1 a trio of Reds at one point, I think they have immunity to those as well. I don't know if they're also immune to worm grass or pole plants, but I assume they are. In case you truly wanna know how insane these things are, I did spend some time spawning in creatures for him to fight. The results: They oneshot regular vultures. They can consistently run a gauntlet of all four birds (Regular vulture, king vulture, miros bird, miros vulture) They can kill BLL, and if they're in a good position can even fend off a DLL for about a minute. They win against every creature in the game except for DLL, MLL, Leviathans, and the Scav Chief (who, for some reason, is immune to Train Lizard bites). Also, fun Train Lizard fact: They do have tongues (and the second longest in the game at that), but the code prevents them from actually using it.
It's kinda surprising that a train Lizard cannot kill a DLL. I feel like most creatures would be able to if it wasn't for the extreme fear factor that many creatures have towards it.
@@Looona_fan It also has extremely high health and kills with a single touch to the core. You know, the part you need to destroy, to kill it. I am personally more shocked that they can semi-consistently kill a BLL.
@@elfmonster1476 Many apex creatures do a lot of damage though, like the red centipede. It would most likely have a chance of killing one, if it wasn't afraid of it in the first place. I guess it does make sense why a train lizard would struggle while fighting one.
Extremely well made video. I felt you covered each topic thoroughly, and also liked the order you chose to introduce different mechanics. A video like this can easily get hard to follow for someone unfamiliar with the game, but I think you executed it almost flawlessly. Looking forward to more videos from you!
Will this video is absolutely amazing. Wow :3 Though there's just one thing left out: for some fucking reason taming a Black Lizard makes ALL Black Lizards passive towards you. Why they do this when they're not pack hunters and why Oranges don't do this is beyond me.
Funny thing about white lizards, gourmand is a direct counter to them. If they grapple you from below they're gonna die to what I like to call fat damage. This is because they accelerate gourmand to a lethal speed. Also, if you're not tired you can pull them around like a wagon.
I've always thought of strawberry lizards as young red lizards, they are still familiarizing themselves in this harsh, unforgiving world. Surviving mainly off bugs until they are large and old enough to take on tougher prey. Their clumsy, slow movement could be because they are still learning how to traverse the rough terrain. The red lizard's behavior is shown in real life by Komodo dragons and wolves, komodo dragons are cannibals and will eat younger , weaker komodos whenever they have the chance. Wolves will do a similar behavior where they will kill the pups of rival packs to defend their territory. So adult reds will kill the younger one while it is still slow and defenseless so that they won't grow to kill them when the current adult old and weak and steal their territory, and the adult gets food at the same time. The lighter colors might possibly darken with age and be used as a display for mating. It could be used for males to fight over a female. And for a female to show she is fertile and in heat to the males. The strawberry's tongue (at least from what I've seen) seem to be used less as transportation and more for catching small insects and catching up to fast prey. Despite their size, they still support the powerful jaws of the red lizard with a 63% bite lethality chance, which is the second highest bite lethality chance of the lizards. Only being outmatched by the adults. both adult and young are able to bite spears in half with their powerful tongue and jaws. It is possible that strawberry's have not yet learnt how to spit, or it simply being too weak and energy consuming to do so at this age.
I love lizards! As a guy who doesn’t move from regions much, I’ve had lots of time to observe and feed lizards which means that the chances of them attacking me are very low and I really enjoy the company. Though for most lizards it is very hard to get them to follow you places, that’s why I particularly like blue lizards, besides they are good enough bodyguards in order for you to kill the other lizard that’s trying to eat you without you or your friend lizard dying. I particularly liked being a lizard tamer in farm arrays and sky islands (not being eaten by invisible enemies or collective consciousnesses was very cool and dope ngl) but passing through scavenger tolls is always a nightmare, I’ve made many enemies that way. All my homies hate heavily armed numerous human monkeys.
This video is absolutelt brilliant, I've been working on a Rainworld journal for about a month, written from the perspective of a Slugcat, and this video has taught me so much about lizards!
@ 9:08 Neat fact, you can throw a spear, probably within frames of getting snapped, and end up with a double kill. Well, the lizard will limp away (unless Blue), but you'll be dead.
32:32 a great alternative to grenades are Jellyfish. They can neutralize red lizards for extensive periods of time. After tasing them, you can easily chainspear it to death
Fun fact: if a lizard is already damaged, it is less likely to kill you with a bite and more likely to stumble and just let you go. So you can be less cautious if you already hit it with a spear a few times. Especially if its den is far away
Bro I play rain world for a while, I've watched so many videos, read so many pages of wiki and you keep giving me facts I didn't know. Thank you so much, it's very interesting
I really loved this video as an avid appreciator of rain world lizards although I have several more facts for some aspects! Firstly - more of actually usable facts: If being grappled by a lizard's tongue, just bending them via structure makes them lose grip on you since they really don't like their tongues bent, so maneuvering around white lizards when grabbed may be easier if you just cut a corner somewhere And at last, MOST IMPORTANT TRIVIA FACT: If for some reason an Orange Lizard starts thinking that it is in a pack of 0 lizards (that's right! *0* lizards!) Rain World will crash. Although not seen, but it was still somewhat found in the code and it's hilarious Regardless!! Amazing video! I really loved it!
40 min laugh deserves a sub Btw caramels have 6 legs, probably the reason they can jump so high. also, taming any black lizard will make the same room black lizards neutural to the slugcat. The other rooms doesn't count. If you gain lizard reputation throughout the entire rainworld, first seen lizards(even in new areas) will be neutural to you. They are likely to ignore the slugcat and go for other foods like scavengers, lantern mouse, etc. Thx for the video!
one thing you forgot, Caramel Lizards are also immune to Red Lizard bites! i only know this because i love them and lurk on their wikipage frequently (i love caramel lizards)
the reason for their bite immunity is actually because lizards are unable to damage any lizard heavier than themself, so red lizards are incapable of biting spit, green, and train lizards, and all other lizards can't damage reds. train lizards are immune to ALL lizard bites, and green lizards are immune to bites from all lizards lighter than a train. therefore if every lizard type were to fight, train lizards would always win. i wrote a book
4:28 more info on this : Corpses will trigger the threat pulse. no clue why it does this but i assume it activates to alert the player of corpses that they might of not killed but another creature that they should look out for
yknow, i havent played rain world and while I knew it was complicated to some degree, when I saw the video on *one* enemy type with a couple variations, and FOURTY FIVE MINUTES, I realized my mistake
I was here to get a maximum amount of informations on Lizards, but rn I'm just dying on my chair laughing at death because of all video's jokes. Ty for the tips AND the vibe ! (also very easy to understand for non native english, kiss from France)
really great video! i would've loved to had seen it few months ago when i just started the game and was losing my mind over lizards... but well, there's also fun in finding out things yourself! few things i'd add: - it's common for green lizards to tank red lizards. they're immune to the lethal bite AND all lizards deal "territorial bites" while fighting each other, which doesn't apply to green lizards. while fighting, red lizard take green lizard's full bite force, while dealing minimal damage itself. taking a tamed green lizard to fight a red is almost a guarantee win. also, once a lizard is tamed, it stops dealing territorial bites to other lizards and goes for its full bite damage. - red lizards actively hunt down vultures. that's why they're immune to the masks. - tamed lizards can sometimes nip on you. many people think it's because of "hunger mechanic", but it's untrue. there are maaaany reasons why a lizard can become snappy, which include: they're injured (they need to be fed then), they're stressed (after fight or after taking them to a new region), they are stressed because of you (don't jump around their heads too much...), or simply their personality (high aggression and energy means they'll be more likely to bite you, so cyans and reds give the most love bites as they're most likely to have high values in these stats). they also will target slugpups you have around, so it's important to feed an injured lizard as fast as possible. - blue lizards can also yoink spears/rocks from the slugcat's paws. alpha red lizards option will just make red lizards specifically be able to break the spears. if they steal and snap an explosive spear, they will take damage. but the red lizards' tongue cannot pull the slugcat into their mouth like whites and blues, only steal spears. - green lizards are also immune to worm grass.
Alright, mister... brandflakes? I think I'm reading that right. I'm here to deliver a message from the Slugcat Science Team working with No Significant Harrassment as they've all watched this video so far... uhh... Right, so, mister NSN wants to know the sources of the art shown for the lizards in this video, don't ask me why, my bets are that he's working on more purposed organisms and needs inspiration for it all... yeaaah. We're gonna need it within a week's time or the science team is gonna be on your ass, I don't make the rules. (Jokes aside, love the video! You keep making really funny and informative stuff on Rain World and I keep getting surprised by new info!)
I've loved Rain World for a while but after learning about the entire ecology from Curious Archive, I was enthralled to become fully invested. Eventually I found your video and I really enjoyed it! Thank you so much!
One time me and my brother were playing co-op and we found a white lizard so it started chasing me and did a backflip around it then I dodged it's tongue and one shot it by striking it in the throat WHILE IT WAS CLOSING ITS MOUTH
Mind you, that while certain enemies may be prominent in DLC campaigns, keep the following in mind. Spearmaster litteraly farts out spears. Gormound has Mantreads. Artificer is litteraly focused about blowing things up. Rivulet can just hit the bricks if things aren't going well. And Saint. _Saint._ "Blows Up _Mind_ with _Mind_ ."
24:03 something else worthy of note is mauling is actually not a terrible strategy against cyan lizards if you are in a tough spot, especially with the beecat, who I love dearly
Some important things you missed or didn't mention. 1. The White Lizard can climb on background walls, but it CAN'T climb on ceilings like Blue Lizard can. Only Blue, Eel, and Neon (Cyan) Lizards can do that. 2. You don't actually have to let the lizard take the food back to it's den. The lizard just has to see you drop the food for them. This is indicated by the lizard making a special "happy" noise when it picks up the food. If it doesn't make the happy noise, it didn't see you drop the food and your reputation won't go up with it. Also, it will only do this once per throw, so if it grabs the food, fumbles it accidentally, and then grabs it again, it won't make the happy noise the second time. Unless you run in and grab the food and throw it again. You can actually abuse this trick to grab the food out of their mouth as they're trying to carry it away, and drop it in front of them again so they can snatch it up. If you do this right, they will make the happy noise each time, so you can gain extra reputation with just one piece of food by just constantly throwing it to them. Obviously this trick is VERY DANGEROUS to try with Red Lizards so you may actually just want to let them take the food and get them new food each time... 3. Another thing to note about lizard rep is that if you feed lizards enough times, you can actually gain GLOBAL FRIENDLINESS with ALL LIZARDS EVERYWHERE. When this happens, all lizards will ignore you and let you walk around them safely and never attack you. And the best part is that you don't have to feed a bunch of different lizards each time, you can just tame one lizard, and constantly feed that one to eventually gain global reputation. It's like a reward for treating your lizard pal properly. 4. For this reason I would say Black Lizards are a great way to earn lizard rep, especially if you're not confident in your ability to snatch and re-throw food. In the Shaded Citadel there's a room that is just infested with black lizards. If you save in the shelter just a bit north-east of this room, you can constantly bring them Lantern Mice from other rooms nearby. Repeat this process for a few cycles and you'll not only have some very friendly black lizards, you'll eventually gain GLOBAL LIZARD FRIENDLINESS.
did you know: if you kill a lizard and they are slideing on the ground you can surf on them(i think its part of the game cuz you can not move left or right while surfing unless you jump)
Had a lizard drag my slug cat really really far away from my last save the lizard got into a fight with another and dropped me and I ran and luckley found a new save den but am now compleatly lost and still have no idea what im doing.

Fun fact:
Train lizards were originally called RAIN LIZARDS, due to being lizards that live in Rain World. However, during development, they made a typo and decided to keep it because it was funny.
They kept the name because thats how the lizard hits. Like a fucking train
They originate from a different mod and were once known as _Hurricane_ Lizards.
They should’ve made the typo ‘pain lizard’ instead of train lizard 😭
i need a mod that makes train lizards emit train funny horn sounds whenever they run at you
@@AlexStarkey-f1g and a mod that makes them immune to every type of damage (they're too weak in the base game)
This was incredible. The jokes, the lizards, the goofiness, the script, the b-roll/gameplay, the lizard art 0-0. It all culminates into the perfect video full of unique and funni moments. This video was incredible, and all I want to do is watch it again. 12/10 better than ever Brandon, keep up the good work, my man! 👍
hi
Simply put, he has a knack for making high quality videos.
You should watch the scavenger guide he made like a year back
Agreed. I didn’t know if I’d be interested in watching a 40 min long UA-cam video when I clicked this, but I couldn’t resist watching the whole thing!! So entertaining 🙌🙌
lizards are some of the most complex creatures in the game while also being one of the simplest at the same time. they're also really dumb most of the time to the point that they kill themselves more then their prey a lot of the time
David Scuggenborough; "And here in their natural surroundings, the majestic cyan lizard, we need to remain concealed for our own safety - and it fell off the cliff.
You can take the present out of their mouth (risky if not yet tamed!) and feed it back to them repeatedly, quickly grinding rep, which can be useful with harder-to-tame species like Yellows and Salamanders.
i'm taking note on this for the time i'm taming a train lizard, thanks for the info:D
The take/give food is not recommended with Trains due to their extreme speed and one-frame instakill bites.
some misconceptions about white lizards:
-While faster, they only have a very short burst of speed and will give up fairly soon and go back to camping unless you remain very close to them, if triggered from further they wont even have such a notizable burst, only Vultures, Noodleflies, Firebugs, Dropwigs and Miros birds are able to outrun the slugcat on ground in this game.
-White lizards cannot climb ceilings, only blue lizards, cyan lizards, centipedes and Dropwigs can actually do that
-Their tongue behaves different than other lizard tongues, instead of using it to mainly disarm you or slow you down while chasing you, they will completely stand still when they catch you and start reeling you back which is extremely dangerous if there is anything else arround since they wont let you go unless you get really close to them or stun them.
Some observations I made in my own time:
- no actually, that is the speed they operate at and white lizards will often run when choosing to move.
"Only blue lizards can climb ceilings."
That is true, but from this video alone, they seem to just give up and flop. Nature is wonderful. Good post.
People unfamiliar with the secret slugcat upon seeing the train lizard at 13:35: "Yeah but-..... Oh my Gawd what is that..... OH MAH GAHD.... WHAT IS DAT?!?!?!"
Also more info on the Cyan fun fact! Lol.
Cyan: Appears only in a single place on Survivor with DLC enabled or not at all without, present from 1st region on Hunter - "most commonly found in mid to late-game areas"
Blue: Appears in like half regions in the game, including the 2nd region most players ever visited: "a family of stubby critters that make appearances in both mid and late-game areas"
Not sure if the early/mid/late classification makes any sense whatsoever in Rain World, unless we are counting the "intented" Survivor route maybe + DLC regions as they appear in their respective campaigns, in which case I still feel like most of those descriptions don't make much sense.
Also the sliding trick you've shown for black lizards works on every lizard species and doesn't require you to slide below them, your spear gets bonus damage when thrown while sliding and will then penetrate any lizard's armor
Other than that, great video, amazing amount of effort put into it clearly!
Thank you!
@@Charmlie.R Yeeeeah it's more complex mechanics like that which im not too familiar with.
I just did my best to give info on the basics
@@brandflakesinc.9350 ah yea, i was mostly adding to the other comment. I enjoyed the video and i think it was presented pretty well! It covered a whole lot in a fun way without feeling overbearing or bogged down which is good
Train lizards are just red lizards before the 1.9 nerf and some slightly higher stats and no spit, their instant turn speed and high bite radious is what makes them as terrifying as pre-nerf red lizards
I'm not sure, but can you outrun a train lizard with superslides? They seem to give enough speed.
"Top of rain world foodchain: the lizard"
*meanwhile that one lizard being carried away by vultures:*
Caramels have 6 legs so I guess that is how they leap, also blue lizards often hug the ceiling and like dropwigs drop onto their prey to catch them.
39:46 im just revisiting this video for seeing this clip again. ITS JUST SOO FUCKING GOOD
Finally a comprehensive guide to lizards! I'm glad you mentioned the odd quirk about the Yellow lizard alpha, when I found out it wasn't the length of the antennae which determines who is the alpha I didn't know how to articulate it in my own video because of how absurd it sounded.
Hello!!!
This is the perfect sequel to the scavengers explained vid. I’m loving this series a lot so far
Some random fact(s):
Train Lizards are also called Hurricane Lizards because of the mod that was avalible during the early stages of the game (before monk & hunter got introduced) and that mod being the Hurricane mod. The Train lizard was likely given its name due to the insanely unfair speed it was given.
*The Train lizard does not attack large creatures like vultures or the red centipede when untamed. When they're tamed however, they go absolutely ham on them and become a killing machine.*
(The lizard was then sourced from this mod for Inv/Enot/???/Paincat/Whatever the heck you wanna call them, just like how More Slugcats was taken in and turned into the masterpiece that is ✨ *Downpour* ✨)
Basically what the mod is (Hurricane):
Overloads every region with the train lizard (primarily outskirts), locks shelters that would otherwise be avalible by default... and a lot more chaos.
(I forgot if the gold lizards were from Drought but I swear I remember them supposedly being in there somewhere-)
White lizards used to be able to eat Blue lizards in the earlier stages of the game before monk and hunter.
im gonna be thinking about the phrase "lizard racism" for at least a week, thank you for this
other trivia:
- eel lizards have only 2 legs while caramel lizards have 6
- caramel lizards are also immune to worm grass
- other lizards also have horns and other cosmetic differences in saint's campaign
- green lizards are immune to red lizard bites and deal extra damage to other lizards
...sleep with lizard to increase reputation. Got it.
something else interesting about eel lizards is that they move exceptionally fast in small tunnels compared t their usual land movement speed
You can increase reputation with lizards by sleeping with them? Oh boy its time for Bardcat appearance
“By saving them from harm, or sleeping with them.” Damn didnt know you could work corners in rainworld
You better believe it 🥵

In my first attempt at Enot's campaign where I actually made it past Shaded, I tamed a train lizard. Named him Long Dennis.
Experimenting with him also taught me that they are immune to centipede shocks, and considering he managed to 3v1 a trio of Reds at one point, I think they have immunity to those as well. I don't know if they're also immune to worm grass or pole plants, but I assume they are.
In case you truly wanna know how insane these things are, I did spend some time spawning in creatures for him to fight. The results:
They oneshot regular vultures. They can consistently run a gauntlet of all four birds (Regular vulture, king vulture, miros bird, miros vulture)
They can kill BLL, and if they're in a good position can even fend off a DLL for about a minute.

Looking forward to more videos from you!
hell yes. a 42 minute video about rain world lizards. it's all i've ever wanted out of life
Heey
You're one of the pillars of this community I just joined.
Will this video is absolutely amazing. Wow :3
Though there's just one thing left out: for some fucking reason taming a Black Lizard makes ALL Black Lizards passive towards you.

This video is amazing, you did not disappoint.
Thank you!
21:03 "dont worry, these guys are still capable of turning you into a past tense" is maybe my favorite thing ive ever heard
12:00 I was WHEEZING
@ 9:08 Neat fact, you can throw a spear, probably within frames of getting snapped, and end up with a double kill. Well, the lizard will limp away (unless Blue), but you'll be dead.
32:32 a great alternative to grenades are Jellyfish. They can neutralize red lizards for extensive periods of time. After tasing them, you can easily chainspear it to death
7:08 Green Lizards also don’t get scared from a vulture mask, but instead ignore it because vultures don’t hunt green lizards for some reason.
I think it's because the green lizard is so heavy, the same reason they are immune to red lizards and reds are immune to vultures.
exactly, green lizards are too heavy for normal vultures, but king vultures still hunt green lizards@@dantebayer919
Theyre to fat

Man those lizards seem cool i definitely want to give them food and be friends with them you should too (definitely not biased)

Fun fact: if a lizard is already damaged, it is less likely to kill you with a bite and more likely to stumble and just let you go. So you can be less cautious if you already hit it with a spear a few times. Especially if its den is far away
“Have the ability to turn you into a past tense”

The editing is super good. Its very engaging, and entertaining
I really loved this video as an avid appreciator of rain world lizards
although I have several more facts for some aspects!
Firstly - more of actually usable facts: If being grappled by a lizard's tongue, just bending them via structure makes them lose grip on you since they really don't like their tongues bent, so maneuvering around white lizards when grabbed may be easier if you just cut a corner somewhere
And at last, MOST IMPORTANT TRIVIA FACT:
If for some reason an Orange Lizard starts thinking that it is in a pack of 0 lizards (that's right! *0* lizards!) Rain World will crash. Although not seen, but it was still somewhat found in the code and it's hilarious
Regardless!! Amazing video! I really loved it!

I can just imagine this guy making a documentary on things like this as an ancient in five pebbles’ city 😂
40 min laugh deserves a sub
Btw caramels have 6 legs, probably the reason they can jump so high.
also, taming any black lizard will make the same room black lizards neutural to the slugcat. The other rooms doesn't count.
If you gain lizard reputation throughout the entire rainworld, first seen lizards(even in new areas) will be neutural to you. They are likely to ignore the slugcat and go for other foods like scavengers, lantern mouse, etc.
Thx for the video!
I’d like to say I’m happy someone talked about the Train lizard despite it being exclusive to a hidden meme campaign
one thing you forgot, Caramel Lizards are also immune to Red Lizard bites! i only know this because i love them and lurk on their wikipage frequently (i love caramel lizards)
the reason for their bite immunity is actually because lizards are unable to damage any lizard heavier than themself, so red lizards are incapable of biting spit, green, and train lizards, and all other lizards can't damage reds. train lizards are immune to ALL lizard bites, and green lizards are immune to bites from all lizards lighter than a train. therefore if every lizard type were to fight, train lizards would always win. i wrote a book
The comedic timing in this video is impeccable
I wouldn't say bottom of food chain
more of a lower middle

The editing on this video left me amused the entire video! Excellent job!
really great video! i would've loved to had seen it few months ago when i just started the game and was losing my mind over lizards... but well, there's also fun in finding out things yourself!
few things i'd add:
- it's common for green lizards to tank red lizards. they're immune to the lethal bite AND all lizards deal "territorial bites" while fighting each other, which doesn't apply to green lizards. while fighting, red lizard take green lizard's full bite force, while dealing minimal damage itself. taking a tamed green lizard to fight a red is almost a guarantee win. also, once a lizard is tamed, it stops dealing territorial bites to other lizards and goes for its full bite damage.
I found this video most entertaining. I think that these types of videos, like your scavenger one, are quite humorous.
Dude I had to pause and laugh at each meme you put in this video. First time seeing any of your videos and I'm AMAZED. Great job!

24:03 something else worthy of note is mauling is actually not a terrible strategy against cyan lizards if you are in a tough spot, especially with the beecat, who I love dearly
I sometimes see them looking at the sky it's beautiful
once i was on top of the tower in metropolis and then a white lizard pulled me down from the subterranean hole with his tongue
Also he missed that ell lizards are also immune the red lizard bite
did you know: if you kill a lizard and they are slideing on the ground you can surf on them(i think its part of the game cuz you can not move left or right while surfing unless you jump)
Had a lizard drag my slug cat really really far away from my last save the lizard got into a fight with another and dropped me and I ran and luckley found a new save den but am now compleatly lost and still have no idea what im doing.
