    Discover a piece of automotive history with the VW T3 Bus Model Kit - Realistic details and fun in 1:25 scale!
    Get behind the wheel of history with our VW T3 bus model kit. This detailed 1:25 scale kit brings the reliable van, which was produced from 1979 onwards, to your home. With its 77 parts and dimensions of 185 mm in length, 79 mm in width and 76 mm in height, this kit offers an exciting and fun challenge for modelers aged 10 and over.
    In addition to the multi-part body and engine, the kit features a movable sliding door that provides an extra level of realism and interactivity. The decals with various international license plates make it possible to customize the model and give it a personal touch.
    Background information:
    The VW T3 bus, produced from 1979 onwards, was a reliable van that offered many technical innovations and a modern, functional design. With our model kit, you can recreate a piece of this fascinating automotive history yourself and experience a unique piece of German engineering. Immerse yourself in the world of model making and discover the joy of creative design!
    The Volkswagen Type 2 (T3) was the third generation of the Volkswagen Transporter and was marketed under various nameplates worldwide - including the Transporter or Caravelle in Europe, T25 in the UK, Microbus and Kombi in South Africa/Brazil/Australia, Kampeerauto in Netherlands, Combi in France and Vanagon in North and South America.[3][4][5]
    It was larger, heavier, and more angular in its styling than its predecessor, the T2, but shared the same rear-engine, cab-over design. It was produced in a rear wheel drive version as well as a 4WD version marketed as "Syncro."[6]
    The T3 was manufactured in Hannover, Germany from 1979 until 1991.[7] Production of the Syncro (mostly for official use, like postal service or German army) continued until 1992 at Puch in Graz, Austria, where all 4WDs were built. A limited number of 2WD models were also produced at the Graz factory after German production had come to an end. South African production of the T3 continued, for that market only, until 2002.[8][9][10]
    The T3 was the final generation of rear-engined Volkswagens.
    Porsche created a version called B32 in a limited edition. The van, based on the luxurious Carat model, was equipped with the 231 PS (170 kW) 3.2 liter Carrera engine and was originally developed to support Porsche's testing activities in Algeria. Ten of these were built, with some sold by Porsche to special customers, even having a Porsche VIN.[15] Porsche themselves also used the Porsche-engined bus to transport staff rapidly.[16] Top speed was around 135 mph (217 km/h), although Porsche only claimed 116 mph (187 km/h) to ensure that the numbers could be replicated with nine people in the car and with the air conditioning on full.

    TRIVIA - from a veteran VW Vanagon only Tech. From 1980 - 1983 Vanagons were powered by the 1979 VW Bus engine. 1984 - 1991 Vanagons had their own water cooled flat 4 engine. The "TELL" air cooled Vans have ONE GRILL between the headlights. Water cooled Vans have a SECOND LOWER GRILL shorter and below the top grill. The kit you're building today is a WATER COOLED VANAGON. Which is "better" ? The one you own and use! Thanks Chris for this build ! ! !

      In fact, this set still remains an air-cooled Vanagon to which a lower grille was added... But despite this and other little things, the model overall looks pretty good.

      I have a lot of examples of the Revelle Vanagon/T3 kit and this is the only one I know of that has the actual water cooled lower grill part. I may have to get this though I see the the engine detail is still the aircold.

    I agree 100 percent with what you said at the end of the video!! Lots of people that don't even model build will buy these up just to collect them and let them sit on a shelf not built. Who cares it bring cash to the hobby. We'll said sir.

    Interesting facts:
    Initially, the series planned to use a different van, but when filming began, it turned out that there was too little space for video equipment, so this van (I don't remember which one, it was some Japanese car) was replaced with a Vanagon.
    Two Vanagons were used for filming, one with an original VW water-cooled engine, and the other van with a Subaru engine, mainly used for driving scenes because the VW engine wasn't very powerful.
    By the way, as an "expert" I don't see any movie mistakes regarding the use of 2 Vanagons, I think it's because the same cars were used, they are both 1984 VW Vanagon GL. Because sometimes there are mistakes in movies when cars of different years of manufacture are used.

    Could always take the Surfer Boy Pizza parts from this kit and put them on the AMT ‘65 Chevelle Surf Wagon kit. Or take the Surf Wagon kit parts from that ‘65 Chevelle and put them with this van.

    If making the build easier would mean decals for the doors, maybe revell should consider a smaller second decal sheet. That way it covers those who would like to use decals and those who want to hand paint or airbrush the interior

    To Chris or anyone else: do you recommend storing markers up, down, or on their sides?

    • @randomnickify
      @randomnickify 6 днів тому

      Racks in art stores for professional markers store them always on the side. I would assume professionals know what they're doing :)

    These days we can print out our own water dipped decals. Printable decal paper is not expensive online.

    • @randomnickify
      @randomnickify 6 днів тому

      Those things exist since ages, and there is a reason why they never caught on. Printers can't print White color, so you either print on paper with white carrier film and then have to manually cut out your decal extremely precisely. Or you print on paper with transparent carrier but then you will not have a white color on the decal and all other colors will be mudded by the color bellow - realistically transparent carrier works only on white elements. Honestly its easier to buy "made to order" decals from third party companies than fight with self printable stuff.

    My question is if Stranger Things is filmed in fictitious Hawkins Indiana, (Georia actual location), why do both the Camaro and VW van have California license plates?

    • @3Dsjk
      @3Dsjk 7 днів тому

      Because in Season 2, Billy Hargrove moves to Hawkins from California, and presumably won't change the registration on his Camaro for a while.
      Some of the characters move to California for the start of Season 4, and one of them is friends with a kid who works for Surfer Boy Pizza.
