i have to smile: The AMT Duster had optional parts to create a 340 six pack engine. Only the '70 AAR Barracuda and Challenger T/A's offered the Mopar factory 340 6-pack engine, but Mr. Norm's Dodge out of Chicago offered a 340 6-Pack in the A-Body Demon. No Plymouth Dealer that I know of offered a 340 6-Pack in a Duster, so I'll get the 6-Pack from one of my AMT Duster kits and install it on my model Demon. I can't wait for mine to be delivered. The Demon 340 6-Pack could also have optional functional hood ram-air from Mr. Norm. Love those Mopar small blocks !
Back in the early 70's, my high school buddy bought a brand-new Dodge Dart Swinger with the 340 and four-speed with overdrive option. The Demon retains most of the same body style, and exact same hood scoops as my pal's old car. That car was very fun to drive, fast as heck, too. You did a great job on the model, Chris!
Great looking " screamin' Demon! ( That's what I used to call mine when I had it!) Delivered many Domino's pizzas in it! ( It had a good slant 6 in it that screamed!)
Plastic pins for the front wheels was a horrible idea. Broke both of mone off on the 68 Coronet R/T convertible kit trying to get the wheels on. And the metal axle for the rear was too short. Update, I found a metal axle that will work on the Coronet, fixed the front axle pins by drilling through the engine block and using a metal axle so it has that promo look. Right now, the Demon kits are hard to find but I snagged 5 of them at retail price from a local hobby shop.that got them for me. Even with the glossy stripes your kit build looks really nice.
That grille turned out great! I might paint my hood scoops semi-gloss black to better match the decals... I spray Tamiya semi-gloss clear over Chrysler rallye wheels, black-wash as needed then use a small cotton swab dipped in lacquer thinner to remove the semi-gloss clear from the trim rings.
My first car was a '71 Dodge Demon! No hood scoops, racing stripes, spoiler or 340 engine! Mine was a boring 225 6, but I can't wait to build the car I should have had! Glad I didn't cave in and spend a fortune on the old tooling. Very nice build, and you've given me some great ideas on how to do things. Thank you!
Having an original kit, I’m glad to see the improvements to the body, front fenders are corrected, including shape and fender gaps to the rockers and cowl area. I wish I had a set of the improved tail lights, much improved, I will bus a couple for sure! Thanks for the build up!
GREAT looking build! HATE the suspension but I’d suppose another kits chassis could be used in place of the silliness MPC chose to do . LOVE the body, hood and those taillights are so cool looking. I absolutely must build this! Nice job putting the video together as usual Chris.
I bought the 340 Demon in 1971 while in the Army. When I happened to see this kit in Walmart last week I picked it up. Luckily I have some old Polaroid photos of my old car so I'm going to try and match it. No experience with models since my youth so it will be fun, I hope!
Nice to see the Drag parts are appropriate to the era of the car Those traction bars used to come in alot of colors too Hopefully Round 2 uses this kit to remake some vintage Pro Stockers
Enjoyed this very much. I think for keeping the younger people involved , videos like this are needed. Nice to see a deep build and paint by you. Great job!
Maybe I will build mine with white side stripes and hood, so the shiny vs flat black issue is not so apparent. I've had this kit on order through my hobby shop for quite some time. It really isn't expected in shops until February. Round2 was at the model show in Detroit last month, and their rep said they didn't think the boat carrying the new kit supply would arrive until January. Some pre-production kits are on shore now for reviewers, but that's all.
How about building a 1970 Dart Swinger, in primer grey, and torsion bars cranked down with a nice rake slammed down on fat Mopar rally wheels stuffed up under it. Just like you would see back in the mid-late ‘80s ❤
I think I need another Mopar in my collection - I'm down to only one now, but these new Round 2 releases are looking so good! This particular color really suits this car.
Really cool kit. Still wonder why they didn't use their '71 Duster as a base. Anyway. It's beautiful, but I've been wondering, IF Revell was to get out a '71 Demon with the same quality and details as their '71 Mustang, would it sell more than MPC's? I know we will never know, but I'm not really sold on the "retro build" look/way that Round2 do with some of their new toolings.
@@GordoGrande69 Well, that goes with their "nostalgia sell" idea, however, nostalgia won't sell forever. I think they still think that many of their old, used toolings sell 'cuz of nostalgia and not because they're the only ones producing them. Now, I'm not saying this is a bad kit. Seems pretty good. But the "let's make a new kit that look like it was made in the '70s" concept don't have much appeal to me. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one thinking like this. I'm still gonna buy it 'cuz... Well, no one else have made it. But let say Revell had released one at the same time and it was on par with their new '71 Mustang, I would've go with Revell's and not theirs.
AMT had such a head start on building a much better engineered kit with their '71 Duster. So much shared mechanicals between those two cars on the same platform. When I heard about this kit, I assumed that is what Round 2 was going to do.
I used to work at a Chrysler plant in Australia, until it was sold to another company. We had the valiant/dart equivalent here, what I find interesting is apart from LHD to RHD, was the subtle differences between them. From here it seems wood treatment was common on instrument panels and centre consoles of sports/muscle models, here we had pretty much 3 trim levels back in the day. They were standard, premium and sports, so woodgrain treatments were the preserve of the premium range. We didn't have a muscle class everything was sports, so on sports the instrument panel and centre consoles we're generally black.
Back when I was a single guy in Norman, Oklahoma in the late ‘70s one of my best friends had a ‘73 that I occasionally got to work on. Our shenanigans in that car got the attention of the police one evening (we drifted through a left-hand turn at an intersection), but somehow he didn’t get a ticket. 😁
Really nice. Almost FE5 Red. Again you are killing the Rallye wheels as Round 2 ain't doing you any favors making them all chrome but you are nailing them. The actual trim rings were polished only on some years, most are "brushed" aluminum - center caps dark grey and wheel flat silver metallic. Nice. Now where is the 340 Duster??? 👀
I don't understand why they have a drag version, but no headers?? But you made it look great Chris! And that beautiful thumbnail. I didn't want one till i seen that. I said "Oooo, I'm gonna do one just like that!" Lol
Hello there. Just watched you building the '71' Demon. Great work! But one thing! You didn't gloss coat the drivers inside panel..or did you? I'm picking this one up. Good Times!
Looks like a nice kitt too at least no two peice chassis like the roadrunners i wonder if u can use this chassis for the roadrunner looks like the same chassis anyways lol....
Great looking build! I'm surprised with the hood scoop decals which I would find annoying, that clear carrier...you could trim them up I guess and apply them separately...🤔
Hi could you tell me what your spray on all the parts first cause this is my first time building a model car and want to know for best results thank you
I have a few Questions about your Demon when you painted the body how long between coats did you wait before painting. Your Demon came out Soo good I hope I can do have as good as you.thank you
The bumper is on the chrome tree. Shown in the parts review. The grill isn't chrome on the real car so it shouldn't be chromed. I talked about that in this video during the unboxing and the first unboxing as well. Thanks.

The GSS,Grand Spalding Special had the 6 pack
U as well as other builders on UA-cam have convinced me 100% I will never ever ever use bare metal foil again. That window trim looks amazing.
Music during the build session is perfect for a '71. Sounds like a theme song to a 70's cop show or movie. Great build Chris!

This one really stands out, those wheels look incredible!

Another fun Saturday build. Thanks Chris. Hope you get over your cold soon. Will see you on the Wednesday episode.

I know it may not be "correct" but I prefer the gloss stripes. Been waiting for this build...very nice Chris! Get well soon.
I like he suggested different ways to fix that. Ive also heard you can use a flat acrylic like what you would use to make your own decals.
Great job Chris get well soon
Love the Mopar kits and great work. Keep it up and get well soon. Great video.
Very nicely done. I have two coming I can't wait. I hope that I can do as you. Darn you did one heck of a good job.
That grill makes it look real
Having an original kit, I’m glad to see the improvements to the body, front fenders are corrected, including shape and fender gaps to the rockers and cowl area. I wish I had a set of the improved tail lights, much improved, I will bus a couple for sure! Thanks for the build up!
Getting atleast 3 of those! Awesome build!
Get Well Soon.
It's a GREAT kit, I've got 3 on order!!!!!! 👍👍
Super Craftsmanship and fantastic starting `24 with a muscle car!!!!
Excellence build and presentation Chris! Perfect color choices and decals, very well done!!
GREAT looking build! HATE the suspension but I’d suppose another kits chassis could be used in place of the silliness MPC chose to do . LOVE the body, hood and those taillights are so cool looking. I absolutely must build this! Nice job putting the video together as usual Chris.
The decals will go into the spares box as I plan on building a Pro Stock Drag Car out of it. Great build as usual!
Great build Chris, now I love the look with the glossy decals with the matt scoops very cool.
Lol...love how U "Poke" the bears 😆
Another GR8 vid. 👍👍
Getting a bunch of these, many thanx.
Nice looking build. The kit appears to be nicely engineered. You did a nice job. Get well soon. Thanks for sharing.

Tempted to use this new body with the older but more detailed Duster kit with a more detailed chassis n 340 Six Pak engine
Another awesome build Cris an a great color an as always thanks for the time you invest for us thanks
Nice to see the Drag parts are appropriate to the era of the car
Those traction bars used to come in alot of colors too

That was cool! I learned a lot that will help me with my next build. I'm just getting back into car models after 50 years so a lot has changed!
Enjoyed this very much. I think for keeping the younger people involved , videos like this are needed. Nice to see a deep build and paint by you. Great job!
Looks very nice - thanks for the build.
I'm looking forward for mine to appear on my door step I've been waiting for it

Great build Chris. You do Mopar proud. Get well soon.
I’ve been waiting on this kit. Love it! I’m buying 5 of them
This has been a long time coming!
Been excited to get this kit, finally got my hands on it yesterday only to find that 2 parts trees were not complete, so now I am missing parts.
Nice looking build!
Looks awesome, Chris. That hood looks great with the flat black over the glossblack.
cool video. most of the manufacturers in the 70s used Krylon dull aluminum paint on the grilles.
Another great 👍 build and kit . I build this car back in the day when it came out. Keep up the great work 👍 👏. 😎🍻☮️💚🍔🏖
Great detail and overall build !
Fantastic build!! Have a friend that got a 4 speed Demon new. Copper with the black stripes. Can't wait to build it.
How about building a 1970 Dart Swinger, in primer grey, and torsion bars cranked down with a nice rake slammed down on fat Mopar rally wheels stuffed up under it. Just like you would see back in the mid-late ‘80s ❤
….and RATT cranking out of the cassette deck.
Very nice work
Awesome build mate!, nice husky tones the Wisconsin Barry White 😂
Good build,love it!!
I like the song you put at minute 31,salsa from Puerto Rico,I’m puertorican, thanks for that.
Yes you need to spray dull coat clear over the decals that will give you the proper sheen. That's how I did the 340 decal on the hoid of my Duster.
I think I need another Mopar in my collection - I'm down to only one now, but these new Round 2 releases are looking so good! This particular color really suits this car.
Haven’t watched video yet but this looks amazing!!!!🎅🏻🌲

Well done on the Demon Chris! I use that Krylon Red Pepper quite a bit on my car builds!
Nice job my friend! The Demon looks awesome!
Waiting for the 2 I ordered.
Yours looks fantastic
Very nice looking job on this model! Thanks for the tips on finishing out the wheels. That's a great look.
Very Sharp!
Get Well Soon, Chris!

Thank you for the review. Excellent as usual. I hope you get to feeling better soon 👍
The red "Demon" - nice.
BTW - I'm down myself with a very bad cold. Hang in there and get better soon.
Very cool kit
Love your paint music😂
I can't wait to get mine. We were supposed to get them last month but nobody really knows what's going on or when they'll be in
Nicely built looks amazing

My brother's best friend had a Demon back in the 80's. Only 300 were made in 71'.
Just spray the decals with an acrylic flat or semi, cut them close and apply them after your clear coat.
I don't understand why they have a drag version, but no headers?? But you made it look great Chris! And that beautiful thumbnail. I didn't want one till i seen that. I said "Oooo, I'm gonna do one just like that!" Lol
Great job . Looks awesome
Whatttt! No testors silver for transmission ! What has become of this world ( lol ) Great video Chris, keep em coming, I"ll keep watching.
Hello there.
Just watched you building the '71' Demon.
Great work!
But one thing!
You didn't gloss coat the drivers inside panel..or did you?
I'm picking this one up.
Born in '71' way out in Sacramento.
Excelsior Speedway!
Mather Field jets flying over my house!
And a 62 Chevy Impala my grandma has.
Gold slightly sparkly paint said to have real Gold in the paint.

Been watching for a few years and wondered where to get Krylon short cots paint.

grind that driveshaft out and smooth it -make the chassis better
Does anyone make a bench seat for this. My friend's car had one.
Badass!!!
May I ask when you will do a build of the Revell 1968 Dodge Dart lit?
Try using dull coat on the decals before wetting them
Hi could you tell me what your spray on all the parts first cause this is my first time building a model car and want to know for best results thank you
I have a few Questions about your Demon when you painted the body how long between coats did you wait before painting. Your Demon came out Soo good I hope I can do have as good as you.thank you
I wait about 15 minutes or so between paint coats on these. Apply LIGHT coats. They may look heavy on camera but they are not.
@@hpiguy thank you for the info.
Nice build Chris,get better
Why size bit did you use for the side mirror ??
Curious as to why the front bumper/grille wasn't on the chrome tree. 🤔
The bumper is on the chrome tree. Shown in the parts review.
The grill isn't chrome on the real car so it shouldn't be chromed.
I talked about that in this video during the unboxing and the first unboxing as well. Thanks.
what are the decals, bottom right. I've got a magnifier, and still couldn't read those next to the mopar oil filter decal
what do you do with all the cars you have built?
Hello Chris, why do you use Black primer under so many of your paint colors?
The only beef is that there's a lack of drag parts for the engine 😢Mpc was famous for an excessive amount of engine option parts
Have you tried Home Depot's Behr spray cans?
Try green tea and honey. Also a spoonful of honey will soothe the throat for a bit.
Do you ever use plug wire kits? Does Round 2 offer a Scooby and Fred's Mystery Machine?
