Hanomag-Henschel was bought by Mercedes-Benz in the very early 1970s and this little truck was rebadged and sold side by side as a Mercedes. I work in the very factory that built the "Harburger Transporter", today we are a supplier for Mercedes-Benz.
No because it was pretty far from home and its hard to predict always which parts you need to replace. I think it has problems with injection pump because there was other injection pump under same shed.
My dad bought several new Hanomag Henschels F30 or F35, because it was a van without problems and cheap in use. The problem started after Mercedes engines were introduced. In 1974 my dad thought he bought a brand new F65 which was eventually a MB 608. After 3 month the van started to rust. The oil use was 2 L to 1.000 km. And what did MB? Nothing, no guaranty. Until now no one of my family bought MB. Deutsche Gründlichkeit, lol.
A couple of thoughts, did you adjust the valves before trying to start it ?They get tight and actually have to be loosened off every 18 months or so. Second, how was the leather diaphragm in the pump?
Its very important glow plug work on this motor...it same with mercedes ...for chamber diesel..this motor start bat in cold...even after 15 min you need glow plog

По сути то тут ничего не сделали особого. Есть подозрение, что помимо уставшей топливной сбит угол впрыска по этому он так брыкался на буксире, пердит и скверно заводится. Но тнвд никто не пробовал покрутить. Или нам не показали.

Same engine as his old MB van, being diesel it would need primed to diesel thru the injectors. No need to fumigate for mosquitoes ha ha
