    I tried a friend's 6900n into an amplifier (dummy load), with 35W in it gave 800W out on SSB. Mind you, that was a homebrew 10m linear amplifier.

    Lol, I've done the same, so I also keep my meter in line now. It's easily done.

    I put 10w into a 203 and get 100w out, on 10m it'll put out 150+ and I think that's plenty.
    I have a 300p, 503, 505v & a 703, but not often do any get used, and the 6900n is a great exported 10/11m radio 👍

    Mr friend's 6900n v6 looked clean on a spectrum analyser on AM and FM, till it got to SSB. There were some strong spurious emissions on it about 3MHz above and below that fundamental frequency.😱

    • @napomania
      @napomania 5 місяців тому

      so you mean that using it with a external AL you can limit that spurious wave?

    BRILLIANT video Ben. I will do that at weekend, and might put a tipex mark on the RF power, so I know it's only putting out 4w
    Matt loves his handheld doesn't he lol.
    I've heard of 14 Wednesday, but never been on it.
    Looking forward to seeing next vid.
    Stay safe mate.

    The RF PWR knob adjusting the watt only on the AM/FM, the SSB will still be about 40 watts on this radio no matter how you adjust the RF PWR knob. So in that case it´s not possible to use a burner because it can take only about 12watts input watt on SSB. The DX 5000 and SS 6900 are not optimal for burners unless you only transmitting on AM/FM that is, so you can turn the RF PWR all the way down to about 3-4 watts.

    You can use any radio to talk a rci mobile base galaxy rci radios those radios do have the amuture radio bands in them if you want to talk on the amateur radio bands you will need a amateur radio operations license and you can use a linear if you use a linear you will have to turn the dead key down on the radio and you can use and radio with a linear and you will need a watt meter to see how many watts the linear and the radio is putting out 73s

  • @Fluxtime9399
    @Fluxtime9399 2 роки тому +1

    It tells you on the destructions how much input you can put into the amp , mine is up 10 watts , I took the power/swr out and just eyeball the amperage on the psu to be around 15 amps and mark the rf knob on the radio so you don't go over 9 -10 watts ...I would suggest the 203p from knights ..the other 203 is limited to 1-5 watts on FM which is a bit harder to maintane on these powerfull radios ..🙃Anyway Good Post ...

    When I used a 203p and 6900n the swr goes up the longer you press the ptt, take amp out of line and swr is 1.2 to 1.4 across mid block and muppets

    • @RSPYT
      @RSPYT  2 роки тому +1

      SWR will go up with more power, but if it rises during transmission then I’d say you have an issue with coax or a joint, remember if the burner is too hot it will make the VSWR high and eventually die or make the radio die.

    When I went past your qth I was on low power so I didn't cause you bleed over. Got alot on my little handheld. That's what I mean by not having boots on when you running like a rig with variable power. Accidentally turn up the power on your rig and bang goes your wellies (boots). I will gatecrash your videos another day lol

    Helped me a lot, thanks very much. I’m still left with a question though. I have a Cobra 148, the manual says its output on SSB is 12W. My cheap SWR/power meter shows around 22W when I transmit audio. The KL203P marketing info says it can take up to 20W input on SSB (although the manual states an input of 10W maximum).
    My question is, is it the 12W as per the radio manual which is the input power, or the 22W shown by the meter (which would be too much)? Many thanks for any replies, guys :)

    does the variable power switch on the front change the power output on sideband on ss6900n? i think you have to go inside the radios and turn down ssb hi rv whilst you're giving a nice constant whistle or audio ??? wouldn't want anyone blowing their burners
