    Hi Fred, I was just looking for reviews on this so good to see you doing one.
    Just a quickie correction, there's no Law about the use or radios...it's regulatory legislation which is Acts and Statutes..a lot of people confuse that with Law but Law and legal are separate jurisdictions, Acts and Statutes being the commercial environment and used fraudulently to control populations.
    Thanks for the videos, keep them coming.

      Thanks for the information Roger as i did not realise. Some people even believe there is "jail time" attached to using a non approved radio on 11m.

      @@CB-RADIO-UK people are in a state of flux at the moment as more become aware and distrustful of the state and governments and this causes confusion. The easiest way to understand it is the tenets of Law are: cause no loss, cause no harm or injury, commit no fraud and keep the peace...essentially following a good moral compass. Acts and Statutes were brought in a long time ago to regulate trading and credit exchanges and are heavily attached to maritime regulations...(key phrase following) and not Law of the land. We also have to provide informed consent to be bound under Acts and Statutes.

    Great vid there Fred, also applies to my HR 5500. Answered a few questions and I got a few tips(microphone) I think regarding the scan feature you can pick a particular channel which disappears from the display window and just scans that particular channel while you carry on then flips you back if it gets a signal. Top bloke 73s 👍🏼.
    Note my FM is on A but F goes up to 29.700 MHz.😮

    To save you all spending hard earned cash on junk i will save you the trouble and recommend the best set up straight off the bat because you will buy a 6900 ect and then want something else soon after, to save the trouble and the money just get a good radio from the get go.
    Radio = kenwood 570d widebanded for cb , pick up for £350 to £400 used.
    Antenna = sirio gainmaster.
    30 amp 12v power supply .
    The kenwood 570d gives variable 5 to 100 watts output with both excellent rx and tx audio, solid build and has a built in antenna tuner its a no brainer , unless your going mobile you cant go wrong with these sets.
    P.s many people find the audio low on these newer cb radio,s then have to upgrade to a power microphones and rfamplifiers , in the end they end up with a room full of junk that nobody wants !

      Ok Tom i will have a think for a video. Other than the 27.555 USB which is worth monitoring just have a flick around the different channels on the bands. Start around 26.500 up to 27.995. If you hear audio but its distorted then change the mode, FM AM USB LSB. If you still cant get it clear turn the clarify control to see if you can bring it on freq. Just be aware that if the bands are closed (no skip) you wont hear anything from overseas. Its a bit all or nothing at the moment. Keep going.

    Fred not your usual question but. I have just purchased 2 radio's. 1 is a Anytone 5555plus. Have you heard of this one. It's coming from the USA. Not sure but the seller a radio type shack shop says it's the latest model. ????? The other from here in the uk is a CRT SS 7900. Again not sure whether this can be opened up to the 25 to 30 mhz channels. I am an old Cb'r & part time radio ham of sorts. Took my city & guilds in short wave but never took my big one because you needed to do quick morse code & i never mastered it. Now you do't need it so i might have a go. Sorry for the waffle. Can you help with the 1st 2 questions please. You got the Sanddancer on the side.

      Hi. The 5555 is pretty much the same radio as the 6900. The output may be different. The 6900 came as a low power 12w radio and a higher power 40w version so not sure what the 5555 would be. I think they were 40w. As far as iam aware the SS7900 can be expanded to full export mode via a USB connection and re-program software. Hi Fred, I wonder if I could ask for some advice? I have recently bought a CRT SS 6900 and have set up a T2LT (bought online) in a tree at the end of our garden using RG58. I can’t get it that high up unfortunately and the top is probably 6 meters off the ground at best.
    The SWR is fine (1.5 average on full power FM) and it is clearly receiving OK, but I am getting awful interference (S5 to 7) on almost all channels, especially on SSB and AM.
    Any ideas of what I can try to reduce it?
    I live in a built up area and am surrounded by houses, so trying to guess the source is almost impossible.
    Thanks in advance,

      fredintheshed1 I remember my Dad used to wind a few ferrite rings into the coax so am going to get some of those to see if they make any difference (although they probably won’t!).

      There was a slight lift on skip on Saturday and a few got out to Europe on 27.555 Mhz USB. Best thing to do is join a few radio facebook groups and people post when the bands are open. We are in a very low sun cycle at the moment so skip is very short and sweet.

    I'm about to buy this radio but I have few questions. You can actually use this for CB too right? For as long as you program the radio to CB frequencies and don't transmit with more than 4Watts FM/1Watt AM, am I correct?
    From your video there is a knob that allows you to adjust the RF power, but can you actually tell (without a meter), how much power you're outputting?
    Thanks!

      Hi. The 6900N is a 10 meter Ham radio which can be programmed for 11 meter CB channels. Its not type approved for use on CB freqs and is illegal to use even with the power set at 4 watts. Legal power is 4w fm / am and 12 watts SSB. However Ofcom no longer monitor 11 meters as its used so little. In practice unless you cause an issue like TVI there is little risk of getting caught, but its still illegal. RF power. Most people use an external meter and mark the RF power control on the radio. If you want a fully legal radio check out the President Mckinley as they have just reduced the price by £45.

      If your coming back to radio after a long break or your just starting then the 6900N is far easier to learn. The 9900 is prob the better radio with more power and a very good standard mic. However it operates more like a Ham radio (which it is really) than a CB radio. It has a steep learning curve for the beginner. Also consider the Alinco DX-10 which i think is the best choice for starting. Good luck.

      Try a feed straight from the antenna to the radio and see if that triggers a warning. The 6900N can trigger a Hi5 warning with an SWR as low as 1.6. See my Hi5 video for further details.

    Hi Fred, Love your videos. I need some help with a crt 6900n - I've "lost" all my UK 40 channels in a button push exercise! Switching between 1Band and 2Band. Can you help?

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  4 роки тому +1

      Oh ok. I assume your talking about the band switch A-F. One thing i did was lock that selector out by accident. To release it press FUNC = NB/ANL. The presets are programmed in the radio with a USB lead plugged into the mother board inside.

    • @gavinbell3052
      @gavinbell3052 4 роки тому

      Cheers Fred, I'm not sure I understand fully? I turned it off, pressed and held func and SRF together and turned it on. On the display it then says 1band. I then select between that and 2band. then press func again and it says reset, then done. turn it off and on again and this switches between 10 meter and 11 (I think 11). However my 27 uk FM channels on FM band F have now disappeared and I cannot get them back! Aaaagggghhhhh! So it was set up originally for UK 40 on FM band F then 60 channels on band E then 40 on A, B, C & D. This is the same for all bands - USB, LSB, AM & FM. How do I get it back to the way it was. I don't have the usb cable. If you have a facebook page where I can message you privately, that would be great. Thanks again

      You would need to check the cig amps rating of your car. Most are around 10 amps which is on the low side. To be safe and not risk over heating its best to run a 30 amp wire feed.

    Ok i am confused, you are recommending this radio as a great starter radio to get back in to CB SSB, then go on to say it's illegal to use in the uk, I am guessing it's legal to use if you have a ham radio licence, is it legal to use when it has been converted for FM use without a licence,

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  4 роки тому +1

      Hi. The radio is not type approved by Ofcom. This makes it illegal although this law is no longer enforced as Ofcom and CB have wound down. But it still is illegal. If you were licenced you could use it on 10m but not on 11m and doing so would prob lose your license.
