I think it's worth adding that when you are using one of the Fuji triggers, it does not matter what camera protocol the flash has. E.g., you can use a TT-685 N (Nikon) as a slave (TTL and any of the other modes) with the Fuji trigger. Of course, the TT-685 N will not work TTL if mounted on the Fuji's hot shoe. Once you get the hang of these Godox lights, they are impressively versatile.

    • @brucesmith9144
      @brucesmith9144 3 роки тому

Yup, correct. I have TT685 (Canon) and the Fuji and Canon triggers. One speed light for two different camera systems is better value overall.

Thanks for this tip. I have several Godox flashes bought for a Sony A7R2 and this is good news. Will now invest in the Fuji dedicated trigger.

@@michaelzelaska1474 yup, that will be your ticket to ride. Now you can share the flash unit with either system. Less stuff to haul around.

This is also very useful "in reverse" i.e. you can be shooting Fuji with trigger, and your buddy can use Nikon with a Godox N trigger to fire the same flashes.

Chris, Thank you, exactly what was needed. As primarily a landscape photographer, I dont use flash often. Its Christmas , I need the flash for family pics this morning, and its probably 9 months since I used them last. Tried but failed miserably to remember how it was done. Sat through this, and wham, got them working again in 2 mins flat. Same config as you have here as well. Thank You, and Merry Christmas from the UK.

I love my Godox units too... I started with the X-T1 remote but went to the XPro for ease of use... I now own 2 685's and 1 350 and a transmitter for less money than what I paid for Fuji's lame E-XF500... and that transmitter is much easier to use than a Godox flash on a hot shoe too... so I have never experienced the frustration of the convoluted menu structure :-)

As flash menus go, Godox's are actually not the worst, but they're still mostly inscrutable. And when you're trying to get stuff done (or worse, you're on a shoot) and nothing seems to work and you can't figure out the damn menus, oh man. I'm bookmarking this video as a "must watch" refresher before any assignment where I might need multiple or off-camera flash. Chris, you're a godsend.

Haha! Im not alone. Seriously it’s fairly straight forward after a few gigs. I use the slaves for my wedding receptions usually two in opposing corners. But I found TTL very hit and miss, best to set your iso and Aperture on a constant setting and put the slaves in Manual for example im usually around 1/16 power depends how far the lights are, also the further you can put your lights to the subject area for receptions that will be the dance floor, the more even the exposure across that area due to the inverse square law. The closer you put the speedlights to the scene you start getting uneven exposures depending where the subject is positioned on the dance floor.
The other thing that works best for me is not use a remote trigger best to use a speedlight as the master because this is also gives you another light source which is great as a fill light. As i move around the dance floor (my clients usually give me a roaming license) the fill light on your camera helps reduce your the harsh shadows the off camera speed lights can cause, also note you can have your camera speedlight (the master) on TTL i usually put it on about minus -2 stops whilst the slaves are on a Manual setting. Great how you can mix and match different modes on each individual speedlight. 😀

Flash is an area that I have always veered away from due to an inherent fear of what appeared to be a specialty language. Made the plunge about 6 months back with a 685 and an AD200 Pro linked with a 2T and am now fully immersed. The Godox system coupled with Fuji is fantastic particularly during these restrictive times. Hope you do more vids where you dive in even more with focus on modifiers, etc. Thanks for all of your vids.

WARNING... To my utter frustration, my new Godox V860IIF did not work with my X-T4. In the FLASH FUNCTION SETTING SCREEN a disturbing "Flash off" sign appeared. After many tries, and after thinking I had a defective camera or a defective flash, I tried changing the ELECTRONIC SHUTTER to MECHANICAL SHUTTER. It worked! So... no electronic shutter with the flash! And looking forward for more great videos! Thank you!

Absolutely the work, the information, the visual understandable guides, your stories of how you come to find your ways with fujifilm and such: you are incredible! ❤

I know for myself as well, that this is in credibly difficult: technology can sometimes feel restrictive to what we desire to accomplish and it can be so frustrating at times. Thanks so much - I had reached the point of doubting my sanity. The manual is completely useless, and most tutorials start assuming all you need to do is select the channel. X-T1 is now working with wireless, though I've not yet got the X-H1 to work (but then many other things like remote wireless just don't work with my X-H1, and I don't think it will even make a particularly good door stop).

I have the Godox system that include two ad200 pro units with a few t685 mark 2s and the pro trigger. Beautiful system. No issues setting it up ever. Once you get used to the menus and functions AND have an understanding of how to use wireless flashes in general it works flawlessly. TTL works well but it truly shines in manual flash mode. I don’t mind using manual because once you have it dialed in as long as your distance from subject, iso or aperture don’t change you can really fine tune the ambient light using shutter speed and get consistent flash fires each time.

Me & many has saying the same. Godox TT685 auto reset its setting back to TTL while on manual mode.
Example, you set your TT685 to manual (both flash & camera sets as manual flash) after few clicks you will here a zoom sound from the flash and that happen when the flash reset itself to TTL mode. Yes you can change it back to manual but the issue here is it will change back to TTL after few clicks again.
This issue happen when its mounted on top of the camera, and not happening if use off camera with a trigger

Hi Chris, For many reason, including your advice, I got rid of my other flashes and got the Godox TT600 and really liked it from the start. Then, I got the TT350 for use with my Fuji X100v. Along the way I picked up a Bolt battery pack for the TT600. And my flash equipment is complete with the purchase of the XProF trigger. So, I use the TT350 on camera on all my Fuji cameras and sometimes off camera. I use the TT600 on my X-T3 and off camera for the other camera. I prefer manual flash so the trigger is great. It has the button where you take a photo in TTL, push the button and it converts to manual. I find I have to bump it up a step or two. No big deal.

The only thing frustrating with the Fuji system is overriding TTL flash mode and getting it to operate in manual (M) mode. I have the TT685 flash (Canon) and with the X1T-F trigger, but my X-T30 cannot be set to M for flash. It always goes to TTL mode. Sometimes I prefer the M mode. However, if the same TT685C flash is put on the camera hotshoe, then it will switch to M as the flash unit is configured for Canon. So it seems there is something about the Fuji FW that does not allow users to bypass TTL if it detects a TTL-compatible trigger. Have you ever encountered this situation?

Literally I spent most of the morning looking for an appropriate communicator for my godox flash.. I ended up purchasing the X1TF but now I see your example of the XPROF and I'm dying. lol All good. But THANK YOU for this tutorial! So simple and helpful! I definitely feel more confident in my off camera flash set up!

Hi Christina... no worries, the X1TF can definitely get the job done. It's better than using flash to flash connection and should be ok w/ up to 4 flashes. Cheers!

Excellent video. Bravo! So many prominent UA-camrs are sucked into the ProFoto vortex with sponsorships and freebies meanwhile most of us are Godox users (because we cannot afford overpriced ProFoto) that have limited options on UA-cam to watch about our gear! Thanks!

This is just what I was looking for. I think I finally understand this set up. The video and info is great. I am using a TT350 on my X-S10 as the master and a TT685 off camera as the slave. Every thing works wonderfully including being able to change the slave output etc. Everything except one critical point. When shooting with everything in manual mode there is a LOT of shutter lag. This doesn't happen with either unit alone on the camera. It wouldn't ordinarily be a problem but the reason I wanted this setup is to shoot my 1 1/2 year old great grandson. By the time the exposure is complete, he is in another state! HELP!

    I own xt2, godox 860ii and xpro.
Please do the full tutorial. Godox menu is crap. Half of times my flash does not fire. I consider to switch to westcott fj80 for simplicity. Thank you man

Great video !! i would like to know if there is a huge difference between the Godox TT685f and the new Fujifilm flash EF-60 made by Nissin.
I know it is more expensive, but it is smaller and is it more versatile ? Love your videos and helpfull tips.

I would like to use the TT685 off camera with the XPro. In order to do this, it will require the flash to have the settings different from those on the remote. Never-the-less, I would like the ability to control the flash remotely. For example, change either the power of the flash or the aperture indicated on the flash using the remote.
Actually, any additional information regarding these Godox products would be appreciated. I found little information on the Internet and what I found is not particularly impressive.
I'm sure your effort would be appreciated by MANY!
Thanks. Keep up the good work.
