Of the armor combinations best resembling SPI in Halo: Reach that had been recognized this one actually fits the bill best: Pilot helmet Gold visor ODST shoulders FJ/Para Knees All else default Sage Green, Maroon, and Steel coloration have been seen in more closely associated canon. Chest, wrist, and utility are default due to soldiers on the field who use SPI not being seen using supplemental armor, storage, or any such worn gadgets. The choice of FJ/Para knees and ODST shoulders are chosen for their maximum coverage and minimal profile.
I honestly thought the EVA helmet would have been the better choice. Everything else I agree with, but based pictures of SPI the helmet seemed like an EVA variant.
Great video as always, but this armor still makes me mad. Spartans shouldn't be spent lightly. They aren't cheap in terms of money or the wealth of human suffering needed to turn a child into an unstoppable killing machine. Quantity has a quality of its own, but look at the record of the second generation of Spartans. They are living expressions of human ferocity. You don't put soldiers of that pedigree in something battery powered.
Still, as a armor system for non augmented personnel the SPI is perfect for ODSTs and marines working alongside Mjolnir wearing Spartan Personnel, especially if later versions could have energy shields as standard
Watching this back... tbh I'll probably try thermal paint and uv film as different basic camo things on odst before trying full camo on SPI. Afterwards, if full camo works. I'll make sure to build a suit with absolute minimal spots the camo can't cover

Your qualifications in fields of study pertinent to the evaluation of Halo equipment lends to a degree of credibility that other lore videos cannot hope to match.
I personally prefer a SPI armor over mjolnir. I would add some extra stuff to the armor. A forehead armor plate like a SLAPP, add more batteries to the back of the armor like a bigger backpack, a energy shield like the experimental, a small strong enough computing hardware for a simple AI for battle awareness and multitasking, also a body cooling and vent system for obvious reasons. Slightly more expensive but still under what Mjolnir armor is.
I just subscribed to you and I have just got to say, wow. I've watched quite a few of your videos, at least 1 a day so far. I love it! Your breakdown of the Autumn was great! Keep it up :)
Can you do a most detailed breakdown of ODST armor? I think they also take some kind of steroids or muscular enhancing food but nothing like Spartan augmentations or Spartan 1.1s genetics
In an earlier video, you noted that ower Spartans are canon. Hear is my head cannon. For those of us who have been fans sense Halo combat evolved's release in November 15 2001 or later, your Spartan is a surviving Spartan II. For those of you who joined latter with Halo Reach from September 14 2010 or later like myself, your Spartan is a surviving Spartan III. For the rest of us who joined with halo 4 from November 6 2012 onwards, your Spartan is a newly minted Spartan IV.
nick However if you look at the canon there’s no where near that many potential surviving Spartan 2s and 3s. It’s more likely that all of us are apart of the Spartan 4 program running through simulations in multiplayer. And actual missions in Spartan Ops.
@@PackHunter117 while that is undeniably true. I still like to hold on to my "head" cannon, besides it would not surprise me if O.N.I made a few of there one Spartan company's off the books, and barred under a mountain of black ink.
@@PackHunter117 first no john 117 and the other Spartans would not be aware of the additional Spartan II and Spartan III soldiers, it's what O.N.I does best. Second the only reason I need to believe that O.N.I would make more "in secret" would be the success of Spartan black team, and the Spartan III head hunter's. I sincerely cannot believe that O.N.I would restrain itself from making more Perfect Blackops Kill teams. Some of witch would be later integrated and hidden in plain sight as Spartan 4's.
O.N.I has done far worse and far harder to believe this, like trying to weaponize the flood for starters. And to answer how many there would be, I honestly don't know, but with O.N.I logic a safe guess would be"as many as it takes". Spartan III soldiers were made to be mass produced and disposable, and as for the additional Spartan II soldiers, probably a minimum of 1000. Spartan II class 2 & 3 anyone. [Definitely not cannon, but a fun head cannon and fan theory all the same.]

I've dabbled in Software Engineering myself In HE. Not for me. Judging by the accent, South West England? Maybe South Wales. Devon or Cornwall would be my guess.
It would make more sense to distribute the SPI armor to the ODST. They go on Covert missions that require stealth. Photoreactive plates would help immensely with that. Rather than equipping a bunch of Spartan 3s with them, and sending them full sprint into a covenant stronghold, or refinery.
That was awesome! Would you be able to do something similar for some Spartan-IV armor sets? I know there are a ton of variants, but maybe address the most-described ones? These are incredibly educational and I really enjoy the technical breakdown
Correction, I was about 15-16 years old when I came up with fiber optic pass through for camouflage and effectively panels on air craft using it, 21 years ago. At that time it was very new and glass. First learned of the technology by Descent game still but later sea floor cable application. Cool to see it more thoroughly established here. Otherwise this armor seems like polished production ODST armor. My 9 years old idea was rotating kinetic armor system to stop projectiles by simply changing kinetic direction removing potency.
The SPI should be the standard armor for all UNSC Combat personnel with modifications and specialized variations based on services and roles of serviceman. Also I recall that the Spartan 1's used powered exoskeletons in their missions do any one have more information on them?
Well the Orion ( which can be used by unaugmented soldiers) is technically just a large scale walking tank. It was redeveloped into the Mantis. But if the UNSC reinstated that particular project it would make a pretty good anti armor unit that's equal to a hunter in size.
Chromatophores are magnitudes more powerful camouflage than what little chameleons can do. As a biologist, chameleons are mostly changing their color to suit their mood not necessarily as a camouflage. Chromatophores in an octopus or cuddle fish are some of the most impressive and fastest reacting camouflage the universe has ever seen.
Oh no, not that unnecessary fancy and lacky protection gear from that cod game. Seriously though if exoskeleton already possible for military use, they should make exoskeleton with full covered armor just like Halo ODST or SPI gear, if they really want them not die too easy while carry their overprice gear all over their body in the battle.
Finally a break down of something that is comparable with modern technology and sufficient for recreation due to modern similarities the Self Power Infiltration armour aka SPI use by the Spartan 3 Mostly the Head Hunter unit
I think Spi armor would been good direction for the odst's getting their own style of power armor. Saw few good imagines of mark III or 3rd generation spi armor specifically created for odsts rather than spartans.
I would love an mixed-armor spartan team that's more than Halo: Reach. SPI Spartan-IIIs could do the covert/sabotage tasks as a support attachment before the Mjolnir-equipped Spartans roll in.

@@VallornDeathblade These suits are dirt cheap by comparison to Mjolnir it's no surprise that they used them. Still they could at least have added shields to increase survivability. The reactor wasn't the most expensive part mjolnir not even close.
Vallorn don’t forget the energy shield and micro fusion reactor
I'm really glad you covered this! I honestly forgot that the SPI armor even existed
Wow, you gained like 8000 subs in just a month :0
All thanks to Eckartsladder. Justin got even more respect promoting installation 00 because his content warrants way more subs than what he had.
I love this channel so much. After I discovered you through the Eckhart collab I’ve watched every single one of your videos, subbed and notifications on. Thanks for the great content!!!
Just finished Ghosts of Onyx this week. I remember when I'd read it the first time as a kid, when halo 3 dropped I started wearing EVA just cause it reminded me heavily of SPI.
Also hope we see the Ma5k somewhere besides Halo Custom edition lol. All depictions I've seen so far lack the ammo counter in favor of making it more FAMAS like.
My favorite Spatans are the Spartan IIIs because they were made specifically for the Human Covenant war... please do an in depth analysis on the Spatan III augmentation and the main difference of the capability of a Spatan III to a Sapartan Ii
So this guy is the arch warhammer of the halo universe
(i love your work)
If he adds about 20 mins he could be Luetin
I wish there was warhammer youtuber with this amount of detail
@@JayJay753 You could try Luetin09.
@@ThomasTee i know but he doesn't do scientific breakdowns/theories like 00 does. Luetin sticks to canon and just it explains it better than most others 40k channels
@@JayJay753 Oh, I see now what you want. There aren't that many people who do SF and the science behind it. And afaik Istallation00 is the only one, who attaches himself to a franchise. Everybody else does more broad strokes / futurism.
Ngl man, I’m thoroughly impressed at your knowledge. This genuinely makes learning lore so much more enjoyable. Good on you.
My favorite part of the Spartan III's is the fact that they were war orphans who volunteered to become soldiers for revenge. The definition of Raging against the Dying of the Light.
I hadn't found you through your collab, but just as a recommended video (MJOLNIR Mk IV), but the greater traffic on your channel probably lead to it being recommended. So hopefully that effect continues with how quickly you've grown, because you deserve far more subscribers.
it would be really interesting to play a halo game where you play as a character equipped with spi armor on one of the suicidal missions they got sent on but instead of restarting from a checkpoint when you died you would just get swapped over to the next spartan 3, would change the standard halo formula up a bunch as well as how people saw spartans
Battlefield 1 already did that though...
Absolutely amazing! You're one of the best halo lore youtubers up there with HiddenXperia and EckhartsLadder! Keep up the excellent work!
Great channel for a long time Halo fan who left Xbox after the 360 to get back into the series! Thank you for the great content, and keep up the good work!
i love your vids I feel like im getting a equipment debrief from a oni spook or something
You know too much. A pickup team has been dispatched.
Love the aesthetics of the SPI armor.
I love how you drop your CV right at the beginning, immediately overqualifying yourself XD You rock
Came across your page completely on accident while trying to find analysis and lore videos on halo, you’re officially my favorite halo page 🤙🏽
Stealth based halo rpg with spartan IIIs during the war
Also dam dude youve done a fantastic job once again
Not RPG. Just stealth. If it has to be a rpg then not only stealth focused gameplay
@@lennyking1340 youre not wrong
@@aussieodst7505 I would love both to be honest 😁 thanks
Anythinh with spi would be great tbh
I feel like it'd be cool to do a stealth-based Halo game where you play as a Gamma Company Spartan in SPI armor as they undertake missions
Four and a half minutes in and I'm glued but have to stop and tell you how impressed I am already. This is looking to be a highly informative breakdown and you deserve more subscribers. When I say more, I mean more that will also continue to watch your videos, instead of ghost subs.
One bit of advice, add text to the screen with the name of these compounds as you bring them up. That would be a nice addition, and it'd have some people memorise them a lot easier, but keep up this kind of detail. I'm going to watch more of your content for sure
The most detailed I’ve been waiting for!!
13:51 even though its not really relevant to the discussion i just wanted to point out that only gamma company received those anti-shock augments.
Man I love it when you do these details on these lesser known Halo armors for me the first time I came across this set of armor was actually in the book ghost of onyx and I loved the lore behind this armor. But the loss of life should not have been that high in my opinion they should have actually considered oh hey the Spartans might actually help turn war but that's just my opinion I'm not arguing against you or anything I'm just excited that you did this! And I wanted to thank you.
I listen to these videos while I sleep keep it up reclaimer!
Of the armor combinations best resembling SPI in Halo: Reach that had been recognized this one actually fits the bill best:
Pilot helmet
Gold visor
ODST shoulders
FJ/Para Knees
All else default
Sage Green, Maroon, and Steel coloration have been seen in more closely associated canon.
Autodidact Polymaph, my new favorite term. I've never known what to call myself until today, thank you.
A detailed explanation of my favorite armor in Halo
Great video as always, but this armor still makes me mad. Spartans shouldn't be spent lightly. They aren't cheap in terms of money or the wealth of human suffering needed to turn a child into an unstoppable killing machine. Quantity has a quality of its own, but look at the record of the second generation of Spartans. They are living expressions of human ferocity. You don't put soldiers of that pedigree in something battery powered.
A beautifully eloquent comment, and I couldn't agree more.
oni just is like that sometimes. sucks but i see their reasons
Still, as a armor system for non augmented personnel the SPI is perfect for ODSTs and marines working alongside Mjolnir wearing Spartan Personnel, especially if later versions could have energy shields as standard
Do a detailed series on every unsc branch including ONI
“Die?...didn’t you know?....Spartans never die.”
This channel needs about 550,000 more subs
Watching this back... tbh I'll probably try thermal paint and uv film as different basic camo things on odst before trying full camo on SPI. Afterwards, if full camo works. I'll make sure to build a suit with absolute minimal spots the camo can't cover
Amazing work, thank you for doing so much, and DAMN, are you a world class genius or what?
I absolutely love the detailed analysis of all the different subjects
-Great job 00-
Being an autodidact polymath allows one to free themselves from the indoctrination that is our current educational and cultural system.
A goal that any one who values freedom should attain to reach.
Hmhhm....... smarty boy.....,,.,,.,.
While it is impossible to avoid bias when being taught anything, that doesn’t mean you should learn everything yourself. I, too, strive for self education but it has many limits that cannot compare to learning from others. People almost never overcome their own biases without learning from others.
I wish I could teach myself but I'm too stupid so I constantly get bored unless I have someone to lay it out for me.
This video is way past due! Love the spartan 3s and I feel they don’t get enough love. Recently just stumbled onto your channel. It’s amazing!
An infinite Season 3 screenshot thumbnail on a 3 year old video tripped me up a bit
I love how in the introduction, he essentially says “The reason i can make assumptions about these cool things is because I’m educated on basically everything that can be described as cool.”
They really should make an odst style game where you play as a spartan 3 in SPI
Agreed, we need more ODST esque games, having it based on the Events in the book "Ghosts of Onyx" would be even better when the covenant shows up would be even better as I love that book
@Installation00
When you analyze the tech suit, you forgot to mention the ballistic gel inner layer. It was mentioned in chapter 10 in the Ghost of Onyx.
Your qualifications in fields of study pertinent to the evaluation of Halo equipment lends to a degree of credibility that other lore videos cannot hope to match.
Johnson needed armor like this, probably would’ve survived Guilty Spark if he was wearing it...
8:16 is the UNSC burp smg that somehow made its way into Gta V
I still like to hold on to my "head" cannon, besides it would not surprise me if O.N.I made a few of there one Spartan company's off the books, and barred under a mountain of black ink.
nick But then how many surviving ones would there potentially be in your opinion? And wouldn’t Master Chief and Blue Team be aware of their existence?
[Definitely not cannon, but a fun head cannon and fan theory all the same.]
anyone else think the image at 2:00 looks more like the Spartan is trying to give the Elite a hug instead of actually attacking him?
👍 Awesome vid.
P.S. I called it in another video of yours of you being an engineer. Not that it isn't obvious, Your knowledge is informative and presentation concise, it's like you're a lecturer on UA-cam or demonstrating/pitching an idea to a contractor. I've dabbled in Software Engineering myself In HE. Not for me.
Judging by the accent, South West England? Maybe South Wales. Devon or Cornwall would be my guess.
Not going to lie, even though I know what an autodidact is,at first I thought you were referring to a Forerunner I'd never heard of,lol
LOL. I'm somewhat honoured you went to Forerunner before our human-centric concept.
0:03 Are you gonna kill us??
It would make more sense to distribute the SPI armor to the ODST. They go on Covert missions that require stealth. Photoreactive plates would help immensely with that. Rather than equipping a bunch of Spartan 3s with them, and sending them full sprint into a covenant stronghold, or refinery.
Really cool channel, I especially love these long videos. You do some great research, I wish I could write a speech like you
Dude be my best friend I love the most detailed series keep up the good qork
This guy is a talking Galleria with more material science than the usual mind could comprehend lol. I luv this guy
Srry autocorrect... I'm meant Halopedia
I enjoy your very detailed analysis of the halo verse
The SPI should be the standard armor for all UNSC Combat personnel with modifications and specialized variations based on services and roles of serviceman. Also I recall that the Spartan 1's used powered exoskeletons in their missions do any one have more information on them?
Well the Orion ( which can be used by unaugmented soldiers) is technically just a large scale walking tank. It was redeveloped into the Mantis. But if the UNSC reinstated that particular project it would make a pretty good anti armor unit that's equal to a hunter in size.
Personally Spartan III are my favorite thing about halo
Chromatophores are magnitudes more powerful camouflage than what little chameleons can do. As a biologist, chameleons are mostly changing their color to suit their mood not necessarily as a camouflage. Chromatophores in an octopus or cuddle fish are some of the most impressive and fastest reacting camouflage the universe has ever seen.
In the year 2560 in halo infinite times shouldn’t they be able to give some spi armour on regular marines?
Or exo skeletons like this in Cod advanced Warfare.
Probably my favorite armor in halo. Especially the headhunter variant.
You really know your stuff dude!
Finally a break down of something that is comparable with modern technology and sufficient for recreation due to modern similarities the Self Power Infiltration armour aka SPI use by the Spartan 3
Mostly the Head Hunter unit
Love your shit dude keep up the armour break downs
Can you do a video on odst armor
I most certainly can.
I think Spi armor would been good direction for the odst's getting their own style of power armor. Saw few good imagines of mark III or 3rd generation spi armor specifically created for odsts rather than spartans.
AND NOW ITS IN THE GAME!!!
This armor basically explains RvB’s Project Freelancer, especially the unique look, the lack of shields, and the semi-force-amplifying gauntlets.
I would love an mixed-armor spartan team that's more than Halo: Reach. SPI Spartan-IIIs could do the covert/sabotage tasks as a support attachment before the Mjolnir-equipped Spartans roll in.
This man referred to himself as an 'autodidact polymath' and then proceeded to effortlessly earn that title
That thumbnail made me think its from infinite for sec since its now in season 3 😂
This video should get an update with the new Halo Infinite variants, the thumbnail has been updated
my favorite armor in the entire lore
This is an awsome video, thank you. You must be buisy with all the video's, but can you make one about ODST armor :)
I have a request, I want a video of the Precursors and the theory about is technology, for me, is very interesting the concept of neurophysics
Of course if is possible
I'll look into it!
They defiantly dive into extra-dimensional supernatural nature.
New watcher becomes new subscriber just like that. As detailed and in-depth as you get, one might think you to be an ONI spook. :p
I can neither confirm nor deny that information.
What were the opinions of the IIs on the IIIs?
See, Destiny has MyNameIsByf, We have Installation00.
Great video, I have been trying to find information regarding this armor.
Video on ONI prowler next?
I feel like I'm listening to a militant product briefing
Yes another video!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you keep it up!!!!
I could see Post war UNSC upgrading this armor then distributing this main line Specials Forces.
i cannot wait for your halo ring video
