adding my own reply due to the fact I should have added that the impellor I replaced had an unknown number of hours on it but that the engine wasn't cooling at full throttle, when I replaced the impellor there were only three of the 6 impellor blades left, they're somewhere in the engine, not sure if that will be a problem.......... if they plug up the outlet water exhaust I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it

Hello from Michigan, great video! Thanks. I’ve got a 2007 Yahmaha 15 two stroke. Bought it new then, but mostly in storage with only a few hours on it. Tried it today with some fresh gas with Sea Foam. Started up with only 4 pulls. But not peeing. So I’ll get an impeller and have a go at it myself… and not succumb to a hasty trip to the shop. 😊
I've got the same outboard, haven't used it for a while and tell tale not working. Tell tale and tubing not blocked so I'm sure its the impeller. Thanks for the video - really helpful.
Very nice size for an outboard engine! it is very good if you can repair such things yourself! Thank you for sharing this video! Big like from Switzerland :-)
Thanks for the video! The tip on how to reach the shift rod nuts probably saved me an hour of frustration. Capt. Blackheart Charlie Key West, Conch Republic.
Thanks for the video. Changing the impeller was simple enough. HOWEVER I broke the gear shift connecting rod which was rusted into the coupler nut. Luckily I only lost about 6mm of the upper rod and the threads were not damaged. I replaced the coupler nut and all appears to be functional.

Excellent video but I'm having trouble with removing the gear rod link nut. The bottom lock nut is loosened but the top nut feels like it is seized onto the gear rod. Any ideas? Thanks
Mate your awesome. Thanks for the info. I’m trying to find out why my yamaha 15 won’t pee. I tried to see if it needs unblocking, no, i tried pumping air, no, i unbolted the plate bolted to the side of the motor where the pee cones out from and cleaned it out somewhat but still no. 😢 now I’m going to try what you’ve done here on this video. Wish me luck fingers crossed 🤞

Hi Martin. Sorry I’m not sure where you can buy the new linking wire. I was lucky having a marine dealer nearby that specialised in Yamaha outboards. Thanks for the kind feedback mate. Really appreciate it 😃
I used my GoPro hero 8 Black for this one mate. I moved it around a bit but clamped it on to a chair and my outboard motor stand to try and cover all angles. Thanks for watching & commenting mate. Much appreciated. 😄👍
Good tutorial video. I’ve heritaged a SAIL 15hp outboard motor 4-stroke from 2011 from my dad and have found out that this chinese ob is a Yamaha F15 ‘95 clone. SAIL is surposed to be the same as Parsun and Parsun obs share spareparts with Yamaha. I’m going to change the impeller and I noticed that you only changed the impeller and no gaskets. Is it not nescessary to replace the gasket? I’m asking because when I go to buy the impeller at the Yamaha seller he probably would tell me to change the gaskets and the O-ring. The ob has been stored under correct conditions since 2013 and hasn’t been run since. Best regards Tom / Denmark
Hi Tom. Yes I only changed the impeller because I thought that the gaskets still looked perfectly fine. Great to know that the Parsun OB has comparable parts with the Yamaha. I Spose it wouldn’t hurt to replace the gaskets too. I wouldn’t imagine they’d be that expensive. Good luck with the job and thanks for commenting. 😃
Good morning. I recently purchased the same motor and having a little trouble finding parts. Do you have a good link for parts needed for this motor? Thank You!!!
Hi Alan - unfortunately I don’t have any links to suppliers. Not sure where you’re located but I’ve always been lucky going to my local marine shop “Hunts Marine” located in Sydney snd Wollongong. In saying that I’ve only ever purchased a new water pump, spark plugs, fuel filter and gear box oil so nothing major. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
Thats a tricky question. My outboard doesn't have n hour meter. It had been a few years since I last replaced the impeller, but in all honesty I haven't used the boat as often as I`d planned. At a guess I`d say 100 hours. I think they can deteriorate with use but also over time as well. I`ll be changing the impeller every 2 years from now on. 😄
Hope this reaches you a few years late, it seems the throttle bolt is seized, I can manage to get the locking nut away but I can not physically move the other housing but without possibly snapping it! Any advice?
