CAMINO 2024 Part 5. Leon to Sarria. More mountains in the mist. Another beautiful stage #camino
Camino 2024 Part 5. Leon to Sarria. More mountains in the mist. Another beautiful stage.
Leaving Leon, we set on on one of the final legs of our Camino Journey visiting and walking through few more towns with architecture dating back to the 11th century. The later stages brought us more mountain climbing through more cold weather, mist and rain. We actually made the mistake of taking one of the hardest routes on the Camino climbing up over several mountains as we made our way to Ponfarada. The wrong turn gave us so many spectacular views from the top of the mountains. Even though this particular track was exhausting, we both agree that it was probably one of the best hikes along the Camino.
If you have any questions or feedback please leave them in the comment section below and I`ll get back to you.

All of these villages look amazing. Nothing like it in Australia 😢 How do you go about booking your accommodation? Are you doing a walking tour?
@@SteveAMcPherson Hi Steve. My wife actually booked almost all of our accommodation before we left. We were a little concerned that we’d turn up in a town and not be able to find a vacancy. 90% booked on booking.com and the remaining 10% from direct email. We saw other hikers get turned away and have to walk up to 5km off the main track to get a bed. For me, after walking 5,6 or 7 hours in a day I was relieved to know there was a bed waiting for me. We didn’t go with any group tour, booked it all on our own and saved a fortune. 😃👍
@@TropicalZooms Wow! She has done amazing! How were you able to workout how far you could walk each day and the towns you would walk though? I gather there must be some in-depth maps online?
@@SteveAMcPherson Yes. All my wife’s calculations. Wed try and average 20 to 25km each day but some days were a little shorter and longer. My wife just read the Facebook groups for about 6 months beforehand and read the reviews. We tried to stay on the trail all the time and only went 2 km off track once as we struggled to get accomodation on track that time. Everyone has different ideas but I wouldn’t do it any other way now. 😃👍
Another great video. Thanks Den, brilliant.

Hi. Just commencing our research into an ideal MH for just wifey and I. A few Qs: Is this MH a rear wheel or front wheel drive? Does Jayco have a consise option list available at the very start of order process? After a full tank of fuel and full tank of drinking water and grey water, how many kegs remains for available legal capacity? How does this model handle steep hills and windy mountenous tops? Cameron
@@Camh1968 Hi Cameron The RM20.5 is front wheel drive. My 21 model has a 100 litre water tank and a 50 litre grey water tank which is 150 litres and 150 kgs when full. From memory the total load is around 900 kgs but I’ll check that and get back to you. Yes there is a general list of inclusions but you can select extras which include tow bar, nudge bar, lithium batteries, extra solar panels, diesel heaters and 12 volt fans amongst others. I find that the 2.3 litre diesel climbs quite well up hills. I’ve found myself overtaking most cars towing vans when hill climbing. I haven’t done a lot of tight tight windy hills but the small amount that I have fond I’ve not felt the engine inadequate. Overall I’ve got no regrets & really love this size Motorhome as it’s big enough to live in yet small enough to park at beaches, harbours and in the street when day tripping.
@@TropicalZooms ok thank you. When parked up at these seaside car park locations overnight, do you ever get asked to move on by Council / law enforcement people? And, how well insulated are the walls/ceiling? Is this a FIAT Fucatto chassis ? 6 or 9 speed gearbox? Any disadvantages with the small wheels? Cheers
@@Camh1968 I’ve probably stayed at boat ramps, harbours and little bush parks about 20 times in the three years and never been moved on or warned by any ranger. In saying that we’re always really quiet and never make any noise or leave any mess. I’ve even said gidday to some of the people whose houses I’ve parked in front of at some boat ramps at Jervis Bay. The vans are well insulated all around. Renault motor 6 speed gearbox 2.3 litre turbo diesel 😃👍
@@TropicalZooms many thanks. That’s good info to read. I guess having the ‘goldilocks’ size vehicle just right to fit into a standard parking space makes all the difference I reckon…. 😋
@@Camh1968 Sure does. There’s probably no such thing as the perfect van but I really think this one comes close. We use it as our day tripper do the old saying about being stuck in your holiday site doesn’t happen. We do o have to do a little pack up here & there but it’s only a 10 minute job. I also find that we may not be able to pack everything we want but we can pack everything we need. Your blowing me away with your earlier model Go Pro quality, i have a 10 but yet to use it too busy flying, great video put together as usual cobber.
Thanks Al. Yeh, I still love my little GoPro 8. I’m the other way. Use my GoPro a lot and rusty with the drone. I was actually surprised with how much footage I could get on the 256GB mini SD card. At 1080P it gave me up to 10 hours video time. I finished the hike with 3 hours of video footage that I think I’ll condense down to around 90 minutes over about 5 parts. My problem is that I struggle with space on the hard drive to upload. Once I get to about 25 minutes worth of video I get the “disk space full” messages which is why I went down to 30FPS. Thanks so much for watching and for the kind messages of support. Really appreciated 😃👍
@@TropicalZooms yes i see your point with storage capacity probs, 60fps is what i use on all my Drones for smoothness on turns but then its only 25 to 30 mins worth on average per battery.
@@skywalkerallan1877 Yes. You convinced me to do the same & I now run all my movies on 1080P 60FPS with the exception of these Camino vids to try & save some space that I didn’t end up needing anyway by splitting the hike into several parts. I also think that 4K seems like overkill too. When I see 1080P 60FPS on my big screen it seems like a great clear pic and I don’t really think I’d notice much difference if any at 4K which also takes up more room and seems a lot slower to upload. I do however think I see the difference with 40fps as some times I think my vid seems a little flickery with some faster movies scenes. Thanks for your advice & tips mate. Always appreciate them 😃👍.
Yes I believe 4k is such an overkill with 1080p being more than acceptable. 4k is so resource hungry and like you mentioned takes forever to load. With 60fps it takes all the jerky movements out of panning and produces a quality shoot.😊😊
Denno n Debs theme song and there is nothing wrong with that... ua-cam.com/video/3562VCtSL9E/v-deo.html
Another great Video. Thanks again Den & Deb. Can't wait for the next one.
Thanks Mike. Working on part 4 now. Probably going to be 5 parts all up, lotsa bad dad jokes along the way. 😜👍. The videos are longer than the walk. Actually I was surprised that I could fit them all into my little 256gb micro sd card in the GoPro. As a fellow camera kinda guy I saw that at 1080p 30fps the card would hold just over 10 hours of video footage. I just had to charge it every 2nd day. All up I recorded 3 hours of vids which I think will end up using about 90 minutes. 😃👍
@@TropicalZooms I film at that rate also. 4k is super hungry for memory, Plus I need a new GPU for that so I'll be getting that soon. But I find the resolution at 1080p 30fps is more than enough and acceptable.
Agree with you about the food. We found it fairly underwhelming too.
Yeh. I missed our Aussie Tucker Deb. Hope you’re enjoying your trip. 😃👍
Agree with you about the food. We found it fairly underwhelming too.
Yeh. I think our main problem was the closing of most kitchens from about 3pm to 8pm. We wouldn’t get to a lot of places until 3ish and then be asleep by 8pm after all the walking. Lucky we had a good breaky most days. Also bought snacks along the way which was what we ended up having for dinner. Still a great adventure even though we struggled with the food. Debbie. 😃👍
can you block the sun from the front cabin when in bed?
Yes. We were given block out shades that attaches to the front windscreen and side windows with suction cups. Blackens the cabin area really well. 😃
