If UA-cam was around 50 years ago, everyone would be going nuts over a kid prodigy named Stevie Ray Vaughan. Sayce is phenomenal- talent ain’t got shit to do with worldwide recognition.
Yeah man keeping the blues alive, come on all you people that love it, with a heart. Its more than music, its a heartbeat, a loyalty, a friendship, an inspiration and our love. Come together.
This dude plays for the love of music... you can tell. He doesn't need a sold out stadium arena to put on a show. He plays with the same amount of passion and ferocity in this tiny club as he would playing at the Crossroads Festival. Love how he pays tribute to SRV and Hendrix in his playing style. So good to see some recent footage of Mr. Sayce!
I was at the show... one of the greatest guitar players I have ever seen! What a tone, what incredible technique and soul. I didn't ever get to see SRV... Phil is carrying the torch!
Just very disappointed that the state of modern live blues/rock music means that one of the world's best living guitarists is playing tiny clubs. He (and the band) deserve much better than this. And least UA-cam and social media help to expose him to a wider audience. The trouble is, the audience is sitting watching at home, and not having the experience of real live music. Myself included. Did we do it to ourselves?
I actually think the state of Blues Music at least ......decent rock is all but dead if you ask me .....but Blues I actually think is making a big resurgence....right now. The way we process or enjoy music is just different now. When is the last time you bought a CD? You just don't anymore. Late 90's I had over 1,000 CD's. Artists don't sell records anymore they sell downloads or make money from You Tube or Vevo or Patreon or whatever. We may have done it to ourselves my friend. Sayce could play alot more live venues if he wanted to .....I dont think he does...I think he is comfortable where he is. I agree with you brother, he is without a doubt one of the top cats today......but you know what ....I would not have heard of him if it wasn't for You Tube .....so go figure. Your right though we all should go out more to the local clubs and support what we love. To think but only 20 years ago we weren't "glued" to our "devices" ....might have been better off 🤠🤙
You said it!!!!!! Those people there are listening to one of the best guitarists I've ever heard. I'm moved to tears and they're oblivious to the greatness. AIN'T RIGHT!!! However if I was there don't know that I could appreciate him properly.........due to the fact that my f****** jaw would be on the floor the whole time!!!!!!!!!
Just an incredible performance. The guitar technique alone in this video is enough to make an average player great but the practice involved is extensive. Wicked!!
Adding to what others have said....Just Wow! I hear a little Buddy Guy influence as well. Keep Kickin' it Mr. Sayce....Keep Kickin' them blues the way you do!
Grateful he's keeping it alive. Seen Stevie Ray 5times, lucky enough to have seen Jeff Healy 2times. Need someone to reinvent that style. I love him. Been there and done that. Peace.
Facially with his length of hair he reminds me of Alvin Lee at a younger age, probably just me though. And musically, everyone has their own style and I think Alvin would enjoy this. Good job I loved this piece!!!
THE STRAT TONE IN THIS PERFORMANCE MAKES MY NUTS ACHE !!!! INCREDIBLE PLAYER ONE IF THE BEST AROUND AND AS THE EVERYBODY SAYS CAN ONLY PLAY TWO BIT BLUES VENUES BUT THE ADVANTAGE OF SMALL CLUBS IS ITS UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL AND MOST OF ALL IT KEEPS THE BLUES REAL ! GOD BLESS YOU PHIL !!!
@@jamesball7428 It's guitar wankery, that's it. He totally forgets the song and that's what makes me hate it. I am relistening as I am writing this and I really feel like turning off the sound. People are so easily impressed these days just because of technique and guitar tone. This is like SRV but at least he was musical and stayed in the song.
Possibly one of the greatest now on this planet ! I would love to see him jam with Chris Duarte ! I love how Philip pays homage to Jeff Healey . I was lucky seeing them together back in 2000 .
Why is this guy not a Fender poster boy? WT acutal F? John Mayer who? Silver sky my a$$. Sayce Strat and Deluxe Reverb all day long. And I don't even like the blues... This guy... This guy is legit AF. Wonder what color that strat was? ; )
O.k he play's like S.R.V , he plays fast , but , where's the feeling ? Too many notes . Less is more, just listen to Peter Green or Clapton . This boy just wants to sound like S.R.V but even Stevie didn't play as fast wen interpreting the blues. 🎸
Lmfao first of all do you know Sayce personally? You probably dont would be my guess. Philip is as real as its gets without a doubt. All it would take is one live show and you'd feel what he brings. Untouchable on that stage 1000%
he is very good, but anytime any of these guys almost sound like direct rip-offs from someone, in this guys case srv, it is a bit boring and repetitive.

Jeff Healy -Rockin in Peace.
So awesome, Thank You! Mr. Sayce.

This man is one of the greatest guitarist of the world
Best blues guitarist in the world as far as im concerned

Philip Sayce is imbued with the "spirit" of Jeff Healey, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, and possibly several/many other greats.
Blood, sweat and tears.... Literally!!! I'm in awe...
We are forever reading on You Tube about certain guitarists being the greatest ever. All those people really need to watch this guy.
I was at the show... one of the greatest guitar players I have ever seen! What a tone, what incredible technique and soul. I didn't ever get to see SRV... Phil is carrying the torch!
Thanks @1AnitrasDance for the killer vids... great to meet you at 2 Frogs

He’s on the road since end of the 90s and never become the respect he deserves as many other good blues martyr like Popa Chubby or Eric Gales
He was a member of Jeff Healy's band and was / is Mellisa Etheridge's guitarist. He's widely respected.

I think if, like myself, you won’t get to see srv playing live, seeing this man must be the closest experience
beautifullllll , amazing .... bravo philip
thanks 1anitrasdance.
regards from skopje macedonija
He played to the point of LITERAL blood on his guitar. I love this man's passion.
Phil was Jeff Healey’s guitarist yrs ago. Jeff did this song all the time. He just mentioned him. Miss the guy. He was a great guitarist.

You can hear the texture of the frets its so clean
Funny, I noticed that too!
YEAH! On those 1 and 2-step vibrato bends - LOVE IT!
I saw Jeff healy twice. Once at a small bar called the lion on the beach, in Toronto.
He was awesome. Great call out.

Ridiculously good.
Tuned down a whole step here....
His abilities are beyond anything!
Wow...amazing.. Jul / 2020
People may put a rock'n'roll fatwah on me and burn down my house, but this strat-sound is even better than both Hendrix and SRV. Just a killer tone!
Throw in some Rory Gallagher as well!
I agree with you. Still might fly a prop plane into your outhouse though....Lol
His playing leaves me so cold. I love blues, his technique is great but I really can't stand this. Why???
@@hesch-tag Son, I don't know about you.

Really fast! Really accurate!! Feels like one lick over and over again though. Still an incredible player!
anyone know what kind of pickups hes using?

Plays till his fingers bleed and beyond.... DAAMMMMHHH.....!

The guitar is a part of him
literally. It's got his blood on it.
At 4:46 - listen to the guy yell out what a lot of us are feeling!
Amazing...love this style of guitar. Just came across you, you are insane! I play as well...believe I found a new muse....
Wow 🤯. How did you record with that quality
I have a good camera ;)

This guy is amazing
very great song and performance, I say mb turn up the bass player,
Is dat blood?
Yes, he ripped open a hangnail
he was a new SRV! same tones and feelings!
Do you hear him playing little wing or voodoo Chile, no because he’s Phillip sayce , all original!

Sometimes less is more
That fkn gtr amp combo is redic
huge hands, like hendrix

Plays blues, doesn't stop to ask why.
Great guitar work but someone tell him less is more.
This guy is good but too many notes per minute is boring in the long run. Especially in a slow blues....
OK now I believe in reincarnation...SRV🎸
