Also a recent sad news - these days Marco Hietala, the bass player and male singer of the band, announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. 82K plus change actually - tickets were limited to 82k and Nightwish were headlining and closing, and no festival goer leaves before the headline act! Then there are the army of workers who build and supply what amounts to a small town in a field and tear it down to pasture again, the crew of other band performing before Nightwish, catering stall, assorted other rmerchandise, security, first aid, fire marshals, plumbers, refuse collectors, and all the rest - I've been a part of a festival crew, and I very much doubt that there are less than 3k working on site.
