@Blood I was at WOA 2013 to see Deep Purple, Motörhead and Rammstein. Never heard of Nightwish before. Than Floor came along and blasted me away. Seven years later, every now and then I still have very vivid dreams about that Gig.
I know, that moment the stank face hit when listening to Lorna Shore, or when she looked like she needed a cigarette after Epica - Consign to Oblivion was confirmation that we got her:D
@@TheCharismaticVoice oohhh my dear you are in for a treat if you continue the Nightwish journey, something you will never comprehend. Best reaction I have seen yet. Love it!!
While the 2012 Buenos Aires performance of this song is good, the 2013 Wacken performance is the best version. Floor was still fairly new with Nightwish in 2012 and had made several additional interpretive changes to this song by the time of the 2013 Wacken show. In general, Floor's interpretations of songs tends to evolve over time, and year after year she is constantly making tweaks to her approach to each song. A few performances with interesting technical aspects: 1) Nightwish - Dead Boy's Poem live from Buenos Aires 2018. ua-cam.com/video/S8E3L7ggLMM/v-deo.html This performance really shows off Floor modifying her vocal configuration almost constantly through a song to convey the shifting emotions. Being able to shift her timbre in various ways word to word and note to note is one of the big skills she's developed since the 2012-2013 period where she tends to sing at least entire lines in a single timbre. 2) Nightwish - How's the Heart live acoustic for Planet Rock 2020. ua-cam.com/video/yYtkPpFYzOo/v-deo.html A great choice for showing Floor using some breathier timbres and shifting from lighter to darker tone qualities. She uses a relatively lower larynx in her chestier mixed voice and belting here, and that's something she's developed in the ears since the 2012-2013 period. Also her belting in the last third is pretty special here. 3) Nightwish - Your's is an Empty Hope live on the Nightwish Cruise 2015 ua-cam.com/video/XtXqUNB8zrU/v-deo.html This song show's off Floor's ability to do false cord growling (in the chorus the growling is *her* not Marco), as well as her using some heavy distortion in the central part. Also a decent intro to Marco Hietela, Nightwish's main male singer. Oh, and since you're likely to be inundated with requests to react to Floor and Henk Poort doing Phantom of the Opera from Beste Zangers, I just want to point out that Floor makes some really interesting choices in her performance of that song. She uses a mixed voice in a quasi-classical configuration rather than pure head voice through all of it except the crescendo, and in the crescendo she chooses to asend in *volume* as well as pitch on each climb. It's really cool. Thanks again for the reactions!
Unedited? Hardly. It's a professionally recorded show which has gone through a huge numbers of vocal filters and cleanups in order to be even shown like it is. So no, not unedited. It is live, sure, but that's about all. Nothing is "unedited" anymore in that respect. Even in concerts, before you hear the voice through the speakers, the mixers and filters have done their job on it first. If you want some "unedited" voice, then watch her Bloodstock concert where the mixer totally failed. Then you get to hear how she sounds like without all that technology to help her.
@@michaelvedal1907 True. In this particular case I have heard her sing at a tv program years ago without a mic (I sat in the audience), just her voice and it was very impressive. And tbf, I am not a metal fan were a woman sings. Metal is diabolical to me and a women’s voice that pure makes it angel like.
@@michaelvedal1907 Having heard,it doesn't seem like Floor's problem. She is spectacular, the whole thing is badly mixed or something. It's like everything was slightly out of tune. Possibly the mix was off for her, I've seen it before. Remember, she always has to hear what happens around her,she possibly couldn't then.
@@michaelvedal1907 I'm fairly sure it isn't huge. My hearing is certainly not to the standard of a professionally trained musician or producer, but it's not shabby. The difference between Nightwish recorded by fans and Nightwish recorded by the geniuses behind the stage is mostly quality of gear. Fans don't generally haul 6 microphones hooked to 24-bit high speed ADCs to a concert. If they do, not all of them haul them away again afterwards. But I'm not hearing significant amount of frequency tweaking. I've listened to the Bloodstock performance. Yes, it was rougher, so yes, you're absolutely right that there is some. Short of Jukka posting exact figures here (pffft! right!), this is just debate. You probably listen to more bands in an evening than I do in a month and can tell me the difference in accoustics between stadiums, whether any of the band had been sick (it's virus heaven), how much time they had to sound check and whether any temperature/humidity change made any real difference. All I can tell you is that this is NOT Judas Priest Live in the Recording Studio (as that album is sometimes referred to). Now that I could hear.
Floor Jansen & Henk Poort "phantom of the opera" Beste Zangers 2019. I really think you are going to love it. For me is the best phantom performance ever.
Oh my GOD that one is amazing I have seen countless reactions to that one. Mind blowing ending haha and such a catchy song I have loved it for many many years.
It's awesome to see how many Floor fans have recommended this Phantom duet. It's been the most up-voted and recommended piece (aside from the Wacken version). I'll be doing a first-time reaction to it soon! THANKS!!
So proud of Floor! I know her from the music academy, she was a classical singer and she is a sweet funny person, a bit shy, but when she sings she is THE queen. After her classical training at the music academy, she went to the Rock Academy. She is a powerhouse and a very pure charismatic sweetheart. Yes, you are right, she was classical trained before she started singing metal. You go girl!! Dutch Power! \M/
Floor has a beautiful voice, and on stage he's great. I love it. I also believe that Nightwish's music is the most suitable for her, and they have all benefited from this union. I also love Taria and Annette who have done great things with Nightwish, each of them marked an era in that group, but Floor remains Floor, and I hope she will continue singing for a very long time.
@@AP-eq6fv very! She loves animals, owns two horses and dogs, and is very sensitive. That's why she lives in the quiet forests of Sweden with her husband (drummer Sabaton and their daughter Freya) She is a very kindhearted emotional sweet woman. In class she was the quietist of all 😁 See her owning that stage now!
First time I heard Floor as new Nightwish singer was with my favortie Nightwish song: Ever Dream. I thought only Tarja could sing that song so beautifully, but then I heard the famous Waken 2013 concert where they presented Floor as the new singer, and now I only want Floor to sing that song forever... sorry Tarja.
"It's like this perfect blend of metal and classical music!" Yes, welcome to symphonic metal. We have beautiful singers and complex instrumentals here, it's a great place to be.
I was like who the heck is Carmina Burana ? why I love this channel I lean something new every time and hear bands that blow me away. thank you to the charismatic voice and her followers.
2024 and still epic........props to the orchestra, the band and the chorus ( or choir ) singers for adding to Floor's amazing vocals.....symphonic metal at its best🤟this is a truly difficult composition and score to perform........... so many key changes 🎶 thank you Nightwish and Floor...........
Eh... live for 10,000 years first I may start calling you a goddess... but even then serpents live that long too. Y'all save goddess for when it is appropriate... cheapening the word.

Floor Jansen, First of Her Name, Warrior Queen of the Valkyries, Snatcher of Souls, Lady of Nightwish and Protector of our Metal Realm. Long may she reign.
A genuine pleasure to listen to someone who knows their stuff. You'll read a lot of comments about "wrong concert" and it's in part about the Wacken Open Air concert being such a show, but also because Floor had only been with the band a few weeks at this point. She's still feeling her way with the music. She joined the band in mid tour when Nightwish had a falling out with their lead singer. She flew over from the Netherlands to Seattle, WA with 48 hours to learn the setlist. So imagine, you didn't get the full Floor effect. I would like you to listen to "Shoemaker" on their latest album. There's no chance of getting an unpopular version as there's only one. The song is about Eugene Shoemaker, NASA planetary scientist, whose ashes are scattered on the moon in a crater named after him. his urn contained an inscription from Romeo & Juliet. You need that information to make sense of the lyrics. ua-cam.com/video/Rjp_DfvJimg/v-deo.html Floor can go from death growls to opera and everything in between. "Shoemaker" is a very technical rendition by Floor that I think you'll appreciate. Her rendition on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers, of the Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort (former Phantom) would also be well worth the listen. ua-cam.com/video/plCScjvDOJM/v-deo.html (UA-cam seems to be having trouble with paragraphs today.)
I really like your comment and I agree. Shoemaker is such an amazing song. All the songs from the new Nightwish album are great. It became one of my all-time favourite albums. I can also relate to that UA-cam paragraph problem... :-) If you used paragraphs, then they appeared as double or triple paragraphs or had even more spaces than that. Now it seems that UA-cam has them sometimes correct the first time but if you even think about correcting a small mistake then all the paragraphs get suddenly lost. If you try to fix that, then some random paragraph appears here and there. English isn't my native language so I often have to correct some words... UA-cam then punishes me for that, which is nice :-)
Falling out with old singer lol, more like fired for being pregnant. How they’ve treated their past singers is kinda despicable. Floor is a good singer but not the biggest fan of her interpretations of older Tarja songs.
Your reaction reminds me of how i felt seeing Floor do this for the first time. She had just joined Nightwish two weeks before I went to their live show. Floor was my favorite singer from the After Forever days, and Ghost Love Score is my favorite song ever. I didn't think they'd do this song, since she had just joined the band, but when it started playing i started sobbing, SOBBING, in the audience. And when she hit the high note at the end, which Tarja never did, I knew it was the best moment of my life.
Such envy, i hate you soooo much!!! I wish i was there, i've also loved Floor since the first time i heard inimical chimera, back in the day, and while i do love Tarja's version/singing, i didn't particulary like Ghost Love Score when she was in Nightwish; Floor made this song epic. (kind of sad that nobody ever speaks of Anette, it's like everyone wants to pretend that didn't happen).
I really loved your reaction, Elizabeth. You are very expressive and present. Floor Jansen is no diva. In fact, she is a very humble and lovely person in all interviews, while she is a Valkyrie on stage. You are correct, she is not only classically trained, she is also a vocal coach herself. Her singing range and technical versatility is very impressive, and Tuomas, the band's keyboard player and composer really managed to push her and the each member's talents to the limit. I guarantee you will be surprised with each and every new Nightwish song you discover.
It is a beauty of a person. It has an angel voice. Always beautiful produced for the stage or in the corner of the house. Monumental voice. However, she is super humble and friendly. So much perfection in one person.
are you freaking serious? she joined in 2012 sure but she was already with the band for more than 2 months and was already permanent by the time the concert happened im fairly sure
TheMightyOdin about the crowd chanting her name, I'm not sure about it, but you have to consider that was an argentinian crowd. Look for argentinian crowd on youtube. There's no crowd like this (and I'm not even argentinian)
I have listened to that song a thousand times and it always give me chills. Floor is unbelievable and the band is perfect, all the musicians are perfect. just amazing
I@@agauerm I love Tarja but I went to a Tarja concert 3 months ago. Unfortunately she is not the same. She can't achieve the voice that she had 20 years ago. She can't sing nightwish songs anymore
This particular live performance is really neat when you remember that at this point she was still technically a stand-in vocalist for the band. Especially the crowd chanting her name at the end. Love at first sight (listen).
@@arwestromen I didn't compare anyone. Thank you. Any Woman that is taller than me is an Amazon. I can't help I'm just below average in height. So what? Jerk.
That choir in the background switching from "if you'll be the one to cut me, then I'll bleed forever" to "you were the one to cut me, so I'll bleed forever" sends shivers down my spine every time
Hello @ The Charismatic Voice! Nightwish Army incoming here, your reaction just appeared on our radar.. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in Buenos Aires in 2012. Your reaction was a beautiful surprise for me at least, hope you'll continue this ride, together with us. For that, I'll subscribe :) Since this is your first Nightwish experience, I'll give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan: " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. Such an awesome and informative comment! I'm loving seeing how dedicated and passionate the Nightwish Army is. Thank you for this history, and for all of the links! I'm definitely going to continue reacting to them, and to Floor.
@@TheCharismaticVoice I am impressed by your gracious answer. Nightwish is, for many of us, a garden with brightly colored and fragrant flowers in the middle of a dark and grey world. The passion you see in us is the passion for life itself. I look forward to your next step in this unique journey.
Has first Floograsm "that was satisfying" Straight back for another! As a professional, you may appreciate the fact that this was not the opening song of their set. it was the 13th of 15 songs for that show, they had been performing an hour already.
15:00 beginner steps of her first-ever floorgasm...15:35 shivers....15:45 extasis...15:58 "can't stop, can't stop. its too go(o)d...16:07 extasis pt2 and non-believing what just happened :D that first reaction is, over-and-over, just so damn good to watch
Love the part at 4:50 when Tuomas smiles and raise's his eyebrows at Marco, Floor had only just joined the band temporally to finish this tour off and given 48 hours to learn the whole set, she nailed every song and Tuomas's reaction was basically telling the group "She's a keeper", little did they know they had not seen anything of her vocal capability's, If it can be sung Floor can sing it and with perfection.
If that's from the Latin American tour she had already been with the band for 2 months. Still, it was a really great performance for so little practice.
There’s no way you could possibly know what some raised eyebrows and a smile was meant to convey, for God’s sake🙄 Your comment sounds like bad fanfiction.
I'm pretty sure they have seen plenty of her vocal capabilities, it isn't like Floor was a total stranger to the scene before Nightwish or that Tuomas didn't know about After Forever.
Of course Nightwish knew about Floor's capabilities when they asked her to join the band, but I totally agree with you about what you said about Tuomas' facial expression. Floor's first concerts were not perfect, good enough to convince the audiences though. But here the facial expressions of Tuomas really tell he knew how good Floor really is. That Nightwish is going to do wonders with her as the female lead vocalist. Hi from Helsinki Finland!
This whole piece is a MASTER piece... Everything... And Floor is just magic! Elizabeth, hearing and seeing your professional reaction makes this even more enjoyable to watch and hear!!
Derek Charette not sure I agree on the best form of music there is. Don’t get me wrong I like some of it but I love electronic music as well from the likes of Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis which for me is just as good although totally different.
@Derek Charette Let's just say that metal is better and more multifaceted than it's reputation :D Dwelling in those absolutes will in the worst case restrict yourself from equaly good expiriences.
buerger3 exactly. I was never into metal at all as I wrongly assumed it was screaming shouting type stuff. Then by chance I discovered Iron Maiden and that opened the door somewhat. Soon after I took a punt on Ghost Love Score from Wacken. The rest as they say is history.
Literally one of my favorite reactions to this song. Informative, pausing appropriately to discuss pertinent information (and recognizing not to stop the last part even though you wanted to say something) plus true joy as a singer hearing her technique and ability. Floor is really and truly amazing in all aspects of her singing as well as her stage presence and the music of Nightwish is perfect for her. Keep looking at her/Nightwish performances even just for yourself as you will not be disappointed. 🤘.
I think a good recommendation for a next reaction would be "Phantom of The Opera" (Beste Zangers 2019). There you get to see a more recent performance by Floor. Loved the reaction! Welcome to the beautiful world of Nightwish and Floor Jansen.
That whole vocal section at the end you played through a second time was something Floor added to the song herself. The original vocalist would have made a dramatic exuent right before that point and let the prerecorded choir take over. If i'm not mistaken, the audience was chanting "Floor! Floor! Floor!" at the end. They just witnessed an incredible rebirth of the band happen right before their eyes.
I think this might have been the 5th time Floor performed this song live. There's more about that in the documentary "Nightwish - Please learn the setlist in 48 hours". Bootleg here: ua-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/v-deo.html The epic Wacken performance was much later: ua-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/v-deo.html
Nightwish had so far 3 singers: Tarja (classically trained singer, the original vocalist of this song), Anette (Pop singer background) and Floor (Rock, metal and classical training). I was wondering if you'll be interested in analyzing how nightwish three differente singers approached this song. I think it would be an interesting watch!
Facts: - She has also been a vocal coach. - Shes the third singer, to sing this song in the band, meaning she has to sing someone elses version, making it her own. - Nightwish is known to be storytellers. - Your smile is gorgeous, mesmerizing and heart shattering :O
Truly one of the greatest live performers around today, truly epic! Absolutely love your reaction to it too, just makes me enjoy it even more! So wholesome
Ghost love score is one of the older songs of nightwish they could not play for some while after Tarja left because it was just to demanding for Anette. I literally cried when I first heard Floor singing it after such a long break. So amazing.
I cried evertime I heard this live. And many times on recordings. Tarja and Floor both rocked this song. But Anette also *did* sing Ghost Love Score live. I was there. And I cried - but not of joy, like with Tarja or Floor but because I thought I can't stand another Nightwish concert with Anette butchering my all time favorite song. I didn't know then, that this was Anettes last tour with Nightwish. Though Anette seemed to be a nice person and I felt a bit bad for her personally, I was relieved to no end when I heard that Floor was taking her spot.
@@Bitfire31337 I only liked Nightwish technically with Tarja, I preferred Annette's more emotional voice to her very clinical one, but yeah, she couldn't do all of them. But Floor has the best points of both. I actually saw Floor perform with Nightwish when she was at FMVF with Revamp and she wasn't in it yet.
i remember the first time I went to a Nightwish concert with Floor - back in 2015. I was pretty sceptical cos I absolutely LOVED the old songs with Tarja. Then, they started Ghost Love Score. And THEN, my friend and I looked at each other, mouths hanging open, and I think he said something to the effect of "is ... is she just out-Tarjaing Tarja???" And that was that. Still love the old songs with Tarja but I have to admit I like Floor's voice better.
third time is a charm she was the singer this band needec

This lovely coach seems very satisfied with the performance. Wish there were a word for it.. But listen up people. Don't ask her to do the most hardcore songs right away. Go easy on her.
@@Carrinthe Yes I totally agree, Not many people actually hear both voices which is a shame. I am chilled every time. Nice analysis.. You should listen to her wacken performance of this track. When she sang this (Dec 2012) she had been with Nightwish only 2 months and had only just started changing the songs. By August 2013 she was a comfortable queen ruling the songs. Then react to her Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort ua-cam.com/video/plCScjvDOJM/v-deo.html and Shallow ua-cam.com/video/M68pe4a_9zk/v-deo.html and Vilja Lied (from Lustige Witwe by Lehar) ua-cam.com/video/lcLG5X1i2QM/v-deo.html
Thanks! These are great links and recommendations - and I'll absolutely be doing more reactions to Floor and Nightwish. Planning on a Phantom duet reaction in a couple of weeks (other videos lined-up til then), and also I want to do a deep-dive analysis/comparison of the Wacken version.
Revisiting this, because here Elizabeth says "I wouldn't really consider myself a huge metal fan". Meanwhile a recent video (watching Spiritbox "Jaded" with Phil Freeman, where her nose wrinkles up with a smile when she hears a sick breakdown riff. :) Loving how this aged. Cheers, queen.
16:05 it is always a joy to see the reaction of Emppu when Floor sings that note. She was recovering from a burnout and just joined the band for the remainder of the tour in 2012, yet this performance was already fantastic. But oh my, Wacken 2013 is perfection, Nightwish at its best.
Nightwish Army reporting, love seeing new reactions to Floor, 2013 Wacken is so much more. Also checkout Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort on Beste Zangers, The Greatest Show on Earth, Poet and the Pendulum, Shoemaker and enjoy your Journey down the rabbit hole that Nightwish will take you down.❤
LONEWOLFSGRANADAS stumbled across a reaction on Ghost Love Score over a year ago.. now I find it hard to listen to much else. Ruined me lol! Rabbit hole is doesn’t give it justice.
Maybe an interesting fact: The Keyboarder is the songwriter for the whole songs. Every note, every break, the orchestra came out of his mind. Can you imagine what's in his head? So talented.
An other multi creative and versatile songwriter/musician to investigate is Arjan Lucassen. His project Ayreon is amazing. He brings all the great musicians together and sing or play together. He write songs special to all this musicians and singers.
"If it's ok with you I would like to go back to that last part" Honey, how many times do you think we all have gone back to that last part? 😂 It was very cool to see you thouroughly enjoy every bit of this performance! Thanks for this video. Great reaction!!
I kid you not: right now there are posters plastered around my hometown with Carmina Burana on them and everytime I drive past I giggle and say 'oh look it's Carabiner Banana!' Would not have given those posters a second thought without having read this comment.
Just watched another video about this, and someone said this was #13 of a 15-song concert... and she still pulled that much energy and blew everyone away.
And it is, it is always one of the last ones on the shows. They came to Brazil recently and I thought they wouldn't play it because it wouldn't be officially filmed, but it was as perfect as this performance here. Floor is the best.
May 2020: First reaction November 2020: Close to her first time headbanging while enjoying Iron Maiden.. We showed another one the dark side and turned them into a metalhead... #oneofus
Floor was part of the Dutch tv show called "Beste Zangers" (Best Singers) last year. Each episode one singer is in the hotseat and the other singers sing a song which they either sung themselves or has special meaning to them. I think that was the longest floorgasm I've ever seen. 😀 Brace yourself, you are in for a wonderful and amazing journey together with Nightwish and Floor.
love Floor! She is awesome with Nightwish, but also check out her now legendary duet with Henk Poort: The Phanthom of the opera. Or a personal favorite of mine when she joined the stage with Epica for the song Sancta Terra
The story behind Ghost Love Score: if you've looked up the lyrics, I'm sure you understand that this is on some level about a doomed love. But the bit about birthing a child makes figurative reference to the Kalevala, which the classical music community may know from Sibelius's symphonies. It's Finland's mythological epic, beginning with a folk hero being born of the ocean and an air spirit and ending with the hero's disgraced abdication of Finland to the infant Jesus (Sibelius wrote about other characters in the middle). Some of the vocals in this song express the beauty and pure innocence of Finnish paganism (Nightwish is extremely Romantic about nature and going back to the good old days before industrialisation/capitalism), and the inevitability and tragedy of its loss. Seeing Nightwish on the Imaginaerum tour in 2012 was my first-ever concert--I believe it was the third day after Floor joined the band after Anette left mid-tour. The audience kept calling for Ghost Love Score but they didn't play it, because obviously I imagine it would take MUCH longer rehearsing together to pull off a feat like this. Nightwish released this song on their 2004 album, two singers ago, and it's incredible to see how Floor has transformed the song. I think this is my favourite version :)
I have always loved this song but I have always found the lyrics very enigmatic. I am so happy to find a totally plausible interpretation of the meaning of this song! Many thanks!
having been a fan of nightwish from way back in day when Tarja was the lead vocalist, Nemo being one of my favourites from back in day, but i must say, no disrespect to previous lead vocalists, but Floor took nightwish to a whole new level in my humble opinion. And Ghost Love Score is one of the most amazing songs she's done.
Ive never heard of Nightwish until a month ago. While I personally have no interest in this band, Floor is pretty awesome. Absolutely beautiful voice and she is a power house.
Whenever you need to feel good, always come back to this review. It’s a quintessential take on Nightwish and especially Floor. It never ceases to make me happy at the pure joy of a first impression.
Elizabeth does a reaction to "Poet and the Pendulum" from Wembley in 2015 and at the end of it she complains that it's over and that it needs to be longer.
It’s so fun watching older reactions again. “I’m not much of a metal fan” to “I’m in studio with the biggest metalcore singer of the decade”. “I’m gonna rewind and listen to this again if that’s okay” to “we’re gonna listen to this 3 more times because it’s insane so buckle up”. I’ve loved your progression, both as a channel and personally
Even though Floor Jansen had a severe flu (they didn't know if the preformance could go on until hours before the show!) She took medicine, and sang as she does! ❤️Which makes this an even more outstanding preformance. Hope someone sees this a year later, bc it's an essential fact to her amazing talent🇳🇱😊👍
@@aaronrumph3291 And technical skill. These aren't genres you can phone in. If you're going to perform them, you have to really do them well, or you'll get called on it.

I counted 11 Floorgasms for this lucky woman: - 8 during the actual performance - 3 during the post-performance review ...and then the look and sound of a woman who not only discovered a new girl-crush, but was feeling the combined elation and depression of her new lover leaving: elated because what Floor did to her, and depressed because Floor essentially "picked up her toys and left" this poor woman without so much as a post-Floorgasm cigarette.

A few performances with interesting technical aspects:
1) Nightwish - Dead Boy's Poem live from Buenos Aires 2018. ua-cam.com/video/S8E3L7ggLMM/v-deo.html
This performance really shows off Floor modifying her vocal configuration almost constantly through a song to convey the shifting emotions. Being able to shift her timbre in various ways word to word and note to note is one of the big skills she's developed since the 2012-2013 period where she tends to sing at least entire lines in a single timbre.
2) Nightwish - How's the Heart live acoustic for Planet Rock 2020. ua-cam.com/video/yYtkPpFYzOo/v-deo.html
A great choice for showing Floor using some breathier timbres and shifting from lighter to darker tone qualities. She uses a relatively lower larynx in her chestier mixed voice and belting here, and that's something she's developed in the ears since the 2012-2013 period. Also her belting in the last third is pretty special here.
3) Nightwish - Your's is an Empty Hope live on the Nightwish Cruise 2015 ua-cam.com/video/XtXqUNB8zrU/v-deo.html
This song show's off Floor's ability to do false cord growling (in the chorus the growling is *her* not Marco), as well as her using some heavy distortion in the central part.
What a great and informed comment, thank you!
Yeah, she was still doing a bit of Tarja in this one. It's neat to see the beginnings though before she made Nightwishes vocals quite her own.
Yep
it was a mistake
I would recommend all of her Beste Zangers performances to really get a sense of her enormous range.
agreed. Wacken version is better ...in my opinion as well
You know a singer is talented when their most popular songs are the live, unedited versions.
Unedited?

So proud of Floor! I know her from the music academy, she was a classical singer and she is a sweet funny person, a bit shy, but when she sings she is THE queen. After her classical training at the music academy, she went to the Rock Academy. She is a powerhouse and a very pure charismatic sweetheart. I also believe that Nightwish's music is the most suitable for her, and they have all benefited from this union.
You need that information to make sense of the lyrics. ua-cam.com/video/Rjp_DfvJimg/v-deo.html
Floor can go from death growls to opera and everything in between. "Shoemaker" is a very technical rendition by Floor that I think you'll appreciate. Her rendition on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers, of the Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort (former Phantom) would also be well worth the listen. ua-cam.com/video/plCScjvDOJM/v-deo.html
(UA-cam seems to be having trouble with paragraphs today.)
Yes, please go back and listen to the Wacken Open Air version. Fantastic !
Yes, that! ☝️

(kind of sad that nobody ever speaks of Anette, it's like everyone wants to pretend that didn't happen).
indeed
Watching professional, experienced vocal coaches react to Floor for the first time is one of my favourite things.

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in Buenos Aires in 2012. Your reaction was a beautiful surprise for me at least, hope you'll continue this ride, together with us. For that, I'll subscribe :)
Since this is your first Nightwish experience, I'll give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan:
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer.
You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol "

Also Emppu at 16:04 like "F*** yes, we got a freakin' godess on stage and we know it!"
I can't count how many Floorgasms you had in this reaction, love it 😁
This whole piece is a MASTER piece... Everything... And Floor is just magic! Elizabeth, hearing and seeing your professional reaction makes this even more enjoyable to watch and hear!!
00:17 "...I wouldn't consider my self a huge metal fan or a metal head..."
16:09 *converted*
Derek Charette not sure I agree on the best form of music there is. Don’t get me wrong I like some of it but I love electronic music as well from the likes of Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis which for me is just as good although totally different.
@Derek Charette Let's just say that metal is better and more multifaceted than it's reputation :D
Dwelling in those absolutes will in the worst case restrict yourself from equaly good expiriences.
buerger3 exactly. I was never into metal at all as I wrongly assumed it was screaming shouting type stuff. Then by chance I discovered Iron Maiden and that opened the door somewhat. Soon after I took a punt on Ghost Love Score from Wacken. The rest as they say is history.
@Derek Charette , dude, check Elizabeth Zharoff's background before classifying her like normal people.
i'm pretty sure the "conversion happened at 7:37 . . .
Rewatching before the Floor interview drops later today... I'm anticipating much fangirling lmao
Ah, very interesting to know that Floor added that part herself! Thanks. :-)
I heard from someone who attended the Wacken 2013 show that many people in the audience bowed for her after that last high note.
I think this might have been the 5th time Floor performed this song live. There's more about that in the documentary "Nightwish - Please learn the setlist in 48 hours". Bootleg here: ua-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/v-deo.html
The epic Wacken performance was much later: ua-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/v-deo.html
She is just a Goddess. There literally is no comparison. I am blown away literally every time I listen to her take off.
nothing better than seeing a person who doesnt identify as a metal lover almost dying of enjoyment from a metal song. :)
It's not really a metal song.
@@maksphoto78 it's symphonic metal by definition 🤷
Exactly!! I commented that in another video of her!
I agree
Nightwish had so far 3 singers: Tarja (classically trained singer, the original vocalist of this song), Anette (Pop singer background) and Floor (Rock, metal and classical training). I was wondering if you'll be interested in analyzing how nightwish three differente singers approached this song. I think it would be an interesting watch!
I count 5. Have you not heard of Marco? or Troy? .....🧐
@@FullTexanEffect Or Tuomas on Angels fall first (listen to once upon a troubadour, my absolute favorite nightwish song)
@@asshole9191 I guess we should also add in Alissa White-Gluz and Elize Ryd as well....🤔
Yeah I would love to see a video on Tarja even sans comparison (but the comparison would probably be cool)
Tarja >>>>> the rest..
She is clearly in LOVE just like the rest of us. FLOOR JANSEN FOR EVER!!!!!!
I simply love this vocal coach!
She is so expressive.......
She gets the fuzzies
She's deeply pleased!
i love her reactions, she may be a pro but at the core she's still just a person who loves music
Okay this reaction, the best. She had a floorgasm before she even got to it
"it sounds like she has the ability to be putting a lot more power out"
me: *grinch smile*
Same :D
“She wasn’t ready!”
- Kevin Hart
I can't waiting for "Yours is an Empty Hope" and/or Poet and the Pendulum"... *Grin*
LOL yeah.
not only is Floor a great singer/performer, but she is also a vocal coach and instructor.
GREAT reaction. More Nightwish. Floor Jansen is a down to earth person that has worked very hard
Early in the song....
The Charismatic Voice: "I was thinking she would have more grit or belting happening..."
Me: *starts cackling maniacally*
yeah I always do that when people say stuff like " well she has a lot of power" half way in the song :D
::giggles::
Facts:
- She has also been a vocal coach.
- Shes the third singer, to sing this song in the band, meaning she has to sing someone elses version, making it her own.
- Nightwish is known to be storytellers.
- Your smile is gorgeous, mesmerizing and heart shattering :O
I Agree 100%
Agreed
And the medical problems she had to overcome when she was first asked to join makes her that much more of a Goddess!!
Was thinking the same!
Geez she's stunning :)
Imaginearum was a great movie.
Floor nailed them actually
third time is a charm she was the singer this band needec
This lovely coach seems very satisfied with the performance. Wish there were a word for it.. But listen up people. Don't ask her to do the most hardcore songs right away. Go easy on her.
Yes I know what you mean, but I want to know what see makes of the ending of romanticide :)
"Wish there were a word for it"... There is. She had a Floorgasm.

@@Carrinthe Yes I totally agree, Not many people actually hear both voices which is a shame. I am chilled every time. I think I have only seen 2 people catch it. the latest one is Sonny Von Cleveland's reaction. He hears it and reacts. So we will see if this this nice lady hears it. I hope she does.
You are right but I really, really want to hear her do The Poet and the Pendulum.
I'm intrigued.
Yes! The universe contracted on itself at Wacken , this night. It was perfect.
Really hope she reacts to the videos you posted =)
Loving how this aged.
Maybe an interesting fact:
The Keyboarder is the songwriter for the whole songs.
What’s truly nuts is that this performance is about 2 months after she joined Nightwish.
And she didn't have much of a rehearsal for the concert, iirc.
"If it's ok with you I would like to go back to that last part"
Honey, how many times do you think we all have gone back to that last part? 😂
It was very cool to see you thouroughly enjoy every bit of this performance! Thanks for this video. Great reaction!!
It's probably one of the most "Holly S**T, I need to listen to this again" moment on UA-cam !
It's called a floorgasm is what you just had
You experienced a floorgasm. Her voice is otherworldly. She captivates us all. Your reaction is spot on!
5:37 First floorgasm
This woman did not just have one floorgasm but multiple. Love it.
I noticed that too! She had at least 5 mini Floorgasms before the grand finale. It was awesome!
So watching this years later again, and I realize now, Floor got Elizabeth into metal....
15:57. best save ever; " i can't stop. It's to good!" :D
Elizabeth: "Wasn't that like Carmina Burana?"
Me, clueless but fancy: "Yes, Carabiner Banana. Indubitably."
Hahahhh!! Nice comment, perfect!

Lmfao 🤣🤣
I kid you not: right now there are posters plastered around my hometown with Carmina Burana on them and everytime I drive past I giggle and say 'oh look it's Carabiner Banana!'
Would not have given those posters a second thought without having read this comment.
But I think she's right, it's in the chorus of Carmina Burana - O Fortuna : ua-cam.com/video/zOVP7qfWMA8/v-deo.html (the first 3 min)
"I can't stop it's too good"
She's beginning to believe
I'm surprised she didn't go for a smoke after that lol.
+1 for an inadvertent Matrix reference.

Floor was part of the Dutch tv show called "Beste Zangers" (Best Singers) last year. Each episode one singer is in the hotseat and the other singers sing a song which they either sung themselves or has special meaning to them. You can find the playlist in the right order at ua-cam.com/play/PLdqO9-8PsDBS52DDwZVaDTrptJxjnCPYA.html
a great playlist
@@jkeep1968 Oh yes that's the way to go if she wants to react to more of Floor!!!! Love it!

Floor's performances on Beste Zangers were amazing. It's a definite must watch.

"It's almost like there's an interlude" - Yup, this is her first symphonic metal song.
More of an Intermission! For all the band.
I think that was the longest floorgasm I've ever seen. 😀 Brace yourself, you are in for a wonderful and amazing journey together with Nightwish and Floor.
I agree.
love Floor! She is awesome with Nightwish, but also check out her now legendary duet with Henk Poort: The Phanthom of the opera. Or a personal favorite of mine when she joined the stage with Epica for the song Sancta Terra
Both of those a must
I was there, Greetings from argentina!
This comment is super underrated. Thank you for the explanation and analysis!
I have always loved this song but I have always found the lyrics very enigmatic. I am so happy to find a totally plausible interpretation of the meaning of this song! Many thanks!
I'm in love with the way you express yourself. Like a tiny little baby who saw the sun for the first time...pureness
Also check out Floor's version of Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort on Beste Zangers.
And dont forget the song Winner and Mama .There sings Floor very great too in this show De Beste Zangers
It's a deal! Floor Phantom reaction coming soon!
having been a fan of nightwish from way back in day when Tarja was the lead vocalist, Nemo being one of my favourites from back in day, but i must say, no disrespect to previous lead vocalists, but Floor took nightwish to a whole new level in my humble opinion. And Ghost Love Score is one of the most amazing songs she's done.
Got the same exact experience! 🤙
My new favourite type of youtube video is people hearing Nightwish for the first time.
And I wonder how many are faking that to get views from ignorant fans.

Truth
Elizabeth does a reaction to "Poet and the Pendulum" from Wembley in 2015 and at the end of it she complains that it's over and that it needs to be longer.
I agree, Kevin.
Hope someone sees this a year later, bc it's an essential fact to her amazing talent🇳🇱😊👍

i m pretty sure there has been some research done on it. and bout the similarities of the genres, thus their respective fans' also. like how they both are theatrical, the fans know their shit etc
I counted 11 Floorgasms for this lucky woman:
- 8 during the actual performance
- 3 during the post-performance review
...and then the look and sound of a woman who not only discovered a new girl-crush, but was feeling the combined elation and depression of her new lover leaving: elated because what Floor did to her, and depressed because Floor essentially "picked up her toys and left" this poor woman without so much as a post-Floorgasm cigarette.
