@soysauce6977 they're only like that when going at sub-sonic speeds. Gaijin currently modeled it to have a lot of drag during the entire time the missile is in flight. It's supposed to fly well at super sonic speeds, but once it goes below that, that's when the fins should affect it.
@soysauce6977 not true, the later variants are made to fit in the Su 57 weapons bay. R77-1 still has grid fins. At supersonic speeds the grid fins don't act like airbrakes and produce more force while having to pull less angle of attack than a delta fin. We all know delta wings need a lot more angle of attack and produce a lot of drag while manouvering the missile, but they are better for supersonic speeds when they don't have to manouver. This means that aim120 should lose more energy while trying to lead a target than the r77, and thus they should be more close in effective range. R77 currently has half the effective range of the aim120. At transonic speed the r77 should produce a lot of drag, not at supersonic.
as much as i want it fixed, gaijin's way of buffing the sukhois/migs is through the missiles they carry, not the flight models themselves. Tbh, i prefer to have a Sukhoi's true flight model irl with slightly nerfed R73's.

act, the FM of Soviet gen4 is more or less close to reality (thanks to the 90's, when leaks on Soviet weaponry fell into the public domain faster than on the WT forum), but NATO planes, especially US ones, are made more by advertising brochures than by documentation. The blue ones exceed their performance by an average of 15 (in some cases up to 30) percent. But F-4S pilots are the most lucrative audience, and whoever has the biggest wallet sets the trends.
@@annguyenlehoang7779 Oh yes, Pantsir-S helps the USSR so much in ARB! By the way, statistically, the Italians have the highest average number of air kills in TRB among all nations on Top BR. Although, it should be noted that this is a statistical anomaly due to the fact that very few people play for Italy in TRB. In second place is Sweden, in case you were wondering. Respawning on Pantsir-C actively reduces winrate, which is pretty obvious because it doesn't have adequate anti-tank capabilities, and battles in TRB are won on the ground, not in the air. The study was done about a year ago. The methodological basis is based on analyzing server replay in TRB. About 110k replays were processed. If you are interested to learn for yourself: “КАК ПЛОХО ИГРАЮТ КОНСОЛЬЩИКИ и почему США сосут?” - just copy this phrase in UA-cam search bar, K2 Kit Krabiwe channel, it's Russian-language CC, but firstly, the picture in the video explains quite obviously what is taken from and where, and secondly, there are automatic subtitles.
@@Scorchluck "more or less close to reality" is a big big stretch, mainly because yes they have their pull, but they bleed it all away, which isnt true at all, the drag on both the Su-27 and MiG-29 is far too high, the MiG-29 should be able to sustain 9G 20/21 degrees/s at around 900 kph, idk about the Su-27 but it is likely similar if not better. The MiG-29 in game loses all of its speed also because the instructor is fucked, it uses 24 degrees/s of turn for the MiG-29 which neither give it the two circle, or one cirlce capabilities that the 28 degrees/s would. So no the MiG-29 at least, the Su-27 probably also, are not close to real life at all, but yes NATO aircraft are overperforming by a substantial amount.

Issue is with instructor not flight model. The thing is that at those insane AOA in the MiGs and SU is that they’re very easy to spin out and stall so instructor uses flaps and such.
Olivia said that the next USSR top will be the Su-30SM, and it has AL-31FP engines, it will most likely be the first aircraft in the game with thrust vectoring, so they definitely need to do something to make this system work properly.
I would like to share that the R73 Baseline has the spinning out problem in real life. It wasn’t until they introduced the R73M until they added an AOA limiter to reduce the chance of the spin out.
Russian bias isn't real(at all). if it was then the FM wouldn't be artaficially nerfed,(and on Su-27SM the radar, engine and loadout), R-77, and the shit R-73 flight path
The point of a HOBS capability is to optimize missile to target aspect from a neutral or disadvantaged parent to target opening until the missile has enough accumulated energy to make the play, cut across the circle and _snap back_, from lead, to get the kill. It doesn't have to know where the target is, so long as it can get to a point where its seeker is pointed at the place the target _should be_, as it flies back into its 40-60` (Archer) field of view. This is hard for an Archer to do due to a baseline 40` seeker FOV and no GOS autopilot trajectory steering. Getting ahead of/over the target and then smashing back across its velocity vector is what the improved fuse and autopilot on the R-73M is about and the better motor and IMU on the K-74 is optimized for. When a late model Archer fires at a low aspect (lethal cone) threat, it should offset to improve clearance on the parent jet (allowing for an opposed breakaway to defeat any counter shot for instance) and then, immediately, go for the kill from the FCS pre-launch programmed homing initial point, for the relative aspect + closure/opening target speed conditions. Presently (2023 article date) the Archer family do not have a datalink, with the K-74M2 being the first experimental model, awaiting integration of the new Karfagen seeker after all contact with (Ukrainian) Arsenal as supplier of the older M-80 was lost. Two separate companies in Russia, Radiozavod and AOMZ, having been contracted to reverse engineer the Impuls-90 developed by Arsenal for export as a replacement for the Soviet Era Mayak-80 with the AOMZ Karfagen seeker being a derived product of an internally developed test bed seeker by the state sponsored Agat (back when they and Arsenal were thick as thieves on the K-30 project, looking to enter a competitive to AIM-9X/ASRAAM missile into the export market). Impuls-90 being a 2-color, 60` system while the later Karfagen is a tricolor 'digital' (post processed pseudo imaging) 75` seeker for better HOBS and IRCCM performance, respectively. Neither of which were working, as late as 2019. Nonetheless, moving to a post Donbas 1 era missile would solve for the 'trying too hard' of game object flippiness because you could legitimately say the enhanced autopilot was using boost-slide mechanics wherein, while the motor is still burning (and drag plus TVC spoil absolute missile acceleration profiles, killing pursuit energy), it adopts a fixed offset trajectory from the target track. And then, as soon as missile speed stabilizes at best maneuvering limit, it cuts back inside. The Fire Control System can do this, without a datalink, simply by telling the missile seeker to bias right/left/up to clear the plane of any turn circle fight, based on that initial setup geometry. If the missile climbs over the target and the parent, the launch pilot only needs to know which side his opponent is turning towards (one or two circle) and _turn the other way_ to avoid being confused for the real target. While the missile is always positioned to cut off the corner of either a one or two circle conditioned fight by the opponent. Now, having said this, the real problem with the Su-33 is that it's a SARH shooter in an active homing BVR world. Thus, it's time to go for an AA-ARM and provide a way to shut down enemy radars and make them have to be very careful about their BVR habits lest they catch an R-27EP (Energetskaya Passivna) to the face. No radar = fewer AMRAAM multi-shot Twiz engagements as every time they start the radar back up, they have to resort the target picture unless (like the APG-67 on the F-20) they have a 'freeze' mode during the dummy load interval which supplies inertial tracks. Similarly, the R-27EM (Energetskaya Morska: extended range, over water) variant, which is designed to hit very small RCS, anti-ship cruise missiles, over choppy sea states would have no problem peeling multi-pathers out of their presumed 15ft AGL cocoon. Oh! My! I'm sorry, did you think you were safe at lawnmower height sir? Guess nawwwwt. The Su-33 can have access to all of these systems without breaking any rules on era or BR. R-27EP was available for export from around 2001 or so. The R-73M has also been (back) in production for awhile from two separate companies in Russia (Duks/Kommunar outside Moscow and the Vympel/State Aviation Plant in Tbilisi), as it remains a popular export weapon. If there is anything missing it is the presence of the fairly powerful Cross Eye capability of the early Sorbitsaya L-004/005 jammer pods. Not as good as the Khibiny equivalent SAP-518 on the Su-34 and Su-35. But still, carried rather frequently over Syria from about ~2016-17 onwards. i.pinimg.com/736x/9b/95/dc/9b95dcb0fbae73655479f924d84ad6ca.jpg
It also feels like AIM 9M’s and, specifically, the AIM 9L/I’s spin out and lose track often. I was playing the F4F Ice in preparation for the EF, and I was getting frustrated with the missiles being super buggy.
In practicality it turns more (Check DCS for example as they have modeled it mostly correctly) but I don't agree with your argument that, this "little" buff will make the Su-27 a better fighter, it will just make you win against dumber opponents, this doesn't help the turning of the Su-27, it doesn't help it's speed, gun. In it's entirety this just makes the R-73 better at it's job.
While I understand where your coming from. I do believe this will help the flAnker. Most players aren't skillful enough to flare the r73 correctly. Now if you run into a competent NATO pilot, your screwed. But for the most part you'll be able to kill things with the flanker
@@AeroTurtle the grid fins do cause drag but not to the level it is in war thunder and those fins are ment to make the r-77 make tighter turns yet it still whiffs on targets in its turn range. Even at altitudes where air is supposed to be thinner and the r77 is most effective it doesn't travel the distance it should be able to
😂😂 I don't have the Russian Tech Tree unlocked yet in the top tier but I will say if that bug where the missile is just flipping out right behind the F-15 is true that definitely needs to be fixed and 180 saying I don't know as long as you can multipath it I guess
Please gaijin buff my flanker and fulcrum. The fact that they nerfed the su and mig to the ground and were ok with other jets like the f16 overperforming in some aspects is wild to me. My friend who has the gripen generally felt bad for me in my su when we tried to dogfight and started saying that the gripen had an "abusive" FM.
I believe that this will be broken if maintained this way, this in practice means that if the r73 misses the target in a dogfight it will do a full 180 and smoke the target in the second pass, yes yes I know that missiles like the IRIS- T and r74 has this ability but we will only see them in a relatively distant future, the game is not yet ready for this type of scenario. Just please, unerf the su27s and mig29s flight models, make r77 useful and that's it, we don't need anything else.
lmao its a game and they have to balance it like one. Years do not matter. There are also multiple other planes at the same br that are as new or even newer than the su-27. At 13.0, the su-27 is not op. Your a typical American main spouting Russian bias in air rb lol.
I'm happy that I get to grind Russia now and I get to use this, but can the US ever get a god sidewinder or a buff on the 9M. Like I'm feeling good for Russia rn, their planes have sucked ass for a bit, but I've never gotten the satisfaction of using sidewinders on the US unlike I did on Russia or the US when the 9M was good, I would love for both trees to be as equal as possible, + the hate between the 2 needs to stop
USA doesn't suffer, their ideology is just different. It doesn't really work for WT compared to IRL. That said if you take the time to learn how to use NATO fighters, they become the hardest thing to beat in a dogfight when used properly. I think what US mains hate the most about USSR stuff is not the planes themselves, but that you have to have better aim than them in a dogfight. They can hit you anywhere, but you have to aim for their cockpit. Because if you don't, they start unloading R-73s at you from a range that you can't defend from. It turns a well earned dogfight into a cheap unearned trade. This has in turn caused a lot of Russia players to not strive to get better at fighting with their planes, they lean on their missiles a lot more than other nations can. The result is that most Russia players are less (not by a whole lot, but its enough) experienced in a dogfight than other players.

It also feels like AIM 9M’s and, specifically, the AIM 9L/I’s spin out and lose track often. I was playing the F4F Ice in preparation for the EF, and I was getting frustrated with the missiles being super buggy.
9m’s work fine, just don’t have l/i’s though
You gotta launch them at good positions
Russian bias gonna hit different soon

I've heard people say that this isn't just an R-73 buff. Allegedly all of the thrust-vectoring missiles are more reliable now.
GYAMMMM LETS GOOOO
yezziur!
Bro is uploading videos faster than my chemistry teacher
(Almost impossible)
xDDDD It's dev server season!!!
our only hope is that its not noticable enough for the US mains to notice it and complain on the forums again.

Is it a real buff tho? they just corrected the flight model of the missile
They simply corrected the fm
Man just fix the Flankers and MiG 29s Flightmodel

Yohohohohooooo 9X lets gooooo

Biblical accurate r-73
How has the smoke alarm infiltrated into the full length videos 😭😭
💀💀💀 its holding me at gunpoint
I need help....
Now only if they reduce the amount of drag on the R-77
I mean... It does have those fins
@@AeroTurtle the grid fins do cause drag but not to the level it is in war thunder and those fins are ment to make the r-77 make tighter turns yet it still whiffs on targets in its turn range. Even at altitudes where air is supposed to be thinner and the r77 is most effective it doesn't travel the distance it should be able to
Does this change affect other thrust vectoring missiles like mica?
yes
Su-27 down to 13.0 for sim plssss 😭

The r73/thrust vectoring missiles have weird flight models. I think it's gaijins engine tbh
Now they need to fix the aim9m where it doesn’t pull for the first like 1 or 2 seconds of flight time

Not yet mentionning about this in data mines. Maybe later

Buff the FLANKER ASAP!!!!!!!!
@ YEAHHHH!!!!
Maybe give it to the MiG-29 now ?

They also made the Aim 9m better
Fr?
@@AeroTurtleyeah it can now pull like a 180 turn, just needs a little bit of energy and time
Looks like they cranked up the P in PID and forgot the rest for now lol
Fr fr
does the mica also do this?
Tomorrow's Video :D Already recorded
I believe that this will be broken if maintained this way, this in practice means that if the r73 misses the target in a dogfight it will do a full 180 and smoke the target in the second pass, yes yes I know that missiles like the IRIS- T and r74 has this ability but we will only see them in a relatively distant future, the game is not yet ready for this type of scenario. Just please, unerf the su27s and mig29s flight models, make r77 useful and that's it, we don't need anything else.
mica seems to fix to
Yup
When will people stop adding smoke alarm low-battery beeps to their videos?
We need buffs for Top Tier Russia

No, no we do not need a buff, it’s a 13.0 vehicle and it fights planes made in the 1960s
lmao its a game and they have to balance it like one. Years do not matter. There are also multiple other planes at the same br that are as new or even newer than the su-27. At 13.0, the su-27 is not op. Your a typical American main spouting Russian bias in air rb lol.

No
only 12000 people have watched this video :(
this is a huge deal, though! I hope they never add the 50G aim9m that would be american meta hell lmao
MICA missles can do this now
Gaijin always do this shit.. They nerf missile when they think they are to op for the meta. And suddenly in one patch they somehow Fix them.

Going to be absolutely cringe.
I must be horrible because I rarely beat the flanker in dogfights and I have every American top tier...
Bleed the flanker of energy. It falls out the sky
Yeah thats a skill issue
That isnt very realistic. But eh.
Another buff to russia, But still no F/A-18 and No Abrams Turret ring fix 😔
Buff all nations asap
