And they refuse to up br it cuz most 2S38 players are >lvl10 and got their first premium, so it's stats show up as extremely bad and gaijin looks at them and says it's ok in that br like they would rather cater to the 1 month pick up and dump players than players that have been playing for years ffs

Spookston, in my opinion you are never annoying if you love the RDF/LT (which it seems you do) just talk about it, it's not annoying. In my opinion the 2S38 is better than the RDF/LT and maybe even the HSTVL. Appenrently they just hate US light tanks. Speak your Opinion, we love you!
Not just light tanks, Gaijin hates all US vehicles. They've artificially nerfed Abrams too with recent Hydraulic Pump addition which is misplaced and does not behave as it should. Both Heli and SPAAs are below average, not even CAS is best anymore, Su-34 singlehandedly curved the winrates for Russia to 70%
12:06 People aren’t exactly happy about the BMD-4M, either. A thread on the forum got about 1000 votes to make it a TT vehicle (and still have the premium, like they did with the JA37Di) but Gaijin just ignored it.
Especially infuriating since they already locked the BMD-4 behind a paywall and profited greatly from it. BTW I have it and it's a great tank, but I was looking forward to research a TT variant as well. Also the TT version of premium vehicles should always be a straight upgrade or at the very least on par with them in terms of performance compared to premiums instead of the opposite.
Every single vehicle added to the soviet ground tree this year was AA. The 7.3 and 9.3 shilka and osa, rest were all premiums. All aa for the biggest ground tree in the game that frankly doesnt rly need aa rly pissed ppl off, myself included
US tanks: Literally all credible sources you could find from the Pentagon and are open sources. Gaijin: nuh uh that’s not enough. Russian tanks: Some random Gaijin employee just believe that it would be so cool to add a rail gun and a spaceship engine on a tank. Gaijin: that’s some credibility right there.
It's not even just modern vehicles a bunch of the Soviet prop fighters and bombers are franken vehicles that never actually existed in the configuration in game most prominently almost every LAGG and YAK has more engine power their production variant.
Wait a damned minute, the whole *point* pf the ARES 75mm was the relatively high ROF. They even had a "three round burst" engagement method. And the *publicly admitted* penetration of the "good stuff" developed for the cannon was roughly equivalent to contemporary 105mm APFSDS. The only excuse for the "no applique" package is if you are using it in an *airborne insertion* scenario. In literally any other scenario, applique armor would have been added (just as the later M8 AGS would have operated).
I wish Gaijin would just say "we don't want to do this because it goes against how we want to balance the game" rather than try to mental gymnastic sources provided to them. Doesn't do anything besides generate bad will when people engage in the system the proper way and they don't give any reasonable explanation for ignoring it
Translation for "how we want to balance the game" - USA can't have anything competitive in Ground top tier and we will nerf it and add more Premiums until winrates hit rock bottom
They're so adamant on "adhering to the sources" but have no problems making changes solely for balancing reasons when they feel like it. Traction is by far the most egregious example. They nerfed traction into the ground because they couldn't fix their shitty map design.
@@EvenMoreCheese it kinda is given they refuse to give us spall liners and darts still don't shatter properly after all this time making the UFP of the Abrams absolutely worthless compared to every other nations vehicles. And needing to rely on air power isn't a great feeling when I want to play ground battles.
12:36 from what ive heard they balance vehicles around the average stats of players playing the vehicle (AKA average K/D/A, SL/RP gain and so on when using said vehicle), so its most likely that HSTV-L is used bv better players since it punishes worse players by a lot and that influences the average stat of the vehicle, leaving it in this limbo of being too weak but not getting changed
They love doing the reload thing to American battleships, so many sources state that the 14 inch gun could reach 2RPM yet they have an aced reload of 1.5RPM because the initial reports stated the combat average reload. They take the max theoretical reload for all other ships, e.g the mutsu and amagi which can reach ABOVE 2RPM while having 16 inch guns, but American battleships, which already have bad armor and speed, and smaller guns, are just gimped because. I seriously hope nobody is getting their hopes up about Iowa being added. They’re going to gimp it somehow.
I think back in the day us tanks all had gimped reloads because they used the slowest reload rate (minimum loader requirement from the furthest/most out of the way ammo) as the aced reload rate

Honestly, I walked into this expecting a standard gameplay video. I got even better: a history lesson on the HSTVL and the RDF/LT, which I found highly interesting and useful! Thanks Spookston!
Initially, I was actualy very hyped to see that they were going to add the vehicle, and was hoping that it'd be more accurate than their 'version' of the HSTV-L. But now that you've laid out what you've been trying to get fixed with numerous reputable sources, and Gaijin clearly not caring AT ALL, I don't even think that I'll be spending any money on this game anymore. They've been guilty of cash grabs in the past, but their greed has been growing over the last couple of years with the climbing playercount. But I cannot, under any circumstance, try to support such a business model, knowing that I'd have to spend a triple A game's worth on a vehicle that isn't even historically accurate, nor within respectable levels of 'accurateness.' So, I really understand the rant, especially given that it's one of your favourite vehicles and want it to be represented accurately in-game. Long story short, Gaijin greedy, I'm kinda done.
Welcome to the club. I love War Thunder as a concept, but the company ruined it after rug-pulling the early adopters and consistently making the grind worse year over year, when you'd expect them to do the opposite so that people can unlock more stuff/retain player interest....
Also how people defend the current HSTV-Ls br is baffling to me. I had an argument with someone over requesting the HSTV-L to be kept at 11.3 in ground RB in the most recent BR changes, only to find out that they have only ever played arcade, and never played above 7.7... They also proceeded to mention that it would be completely unfair for the 2S38 to ever face the HSTV-L in both their current states... I simply do not understand some people, this person had never played nor faced either of these tanks, yet was vehemently attempting to argue their point. PS love the vidoes as per usual :)

I love the layout of this video, most other UA-camrs do fine describing why you should or shouldn’t buy premiums but this was actually informative and interesting. Thanks!
Sorry just so I understand correctly, Gaijin is saying they won't increase the reload rate of the RDF/LT because of "balance"... while the 2s38 will be at a lower battle rating, has comparable survivability, arguably a better gun, and a higher fire-rate.
And thr 2S38 has literally no official sources or documentation, they just took verbal spec sheets as truth. Remember this is a prototype one off and russian arms industry lies out it's teeth
Not "arguably a better gun", it's straight up an upgrade over the 75mm. Not to mention the HSTVL didn't have HE until this year I think? Like they're pretty incompetent when it comes to built, tested, well documented AMERICAN vehicles. But you show them the 2S38 which might as well be non existent and it gets all of it's quirks n stuff day 1

Genuinely cannot believe they thought that you'd approve of this to the point of name dropping you, I seen that and immediately knew this video would come
Imagine how cool a tech tree version could have been with 2 different module upgrades: 1st module gives you appliqué armor which gives you more survivability. 2nd module gives you dual stinger pods which allows you to be more multipurpose, converting you into a Cat/LCV (I know it's more complex than that, but they could also just give us a tech tree Cat/LCV) 3rd way would be having neither, saving the most weight and being the lowest profile of all of them. They could have placed it in the tech tree as a 12.0 immediately after the HSTV-L or foldered it with the HSTV-L. Apparently the Russians are the only ones allowed to get fun tanks that rely off of imaginary figures, but Americans have to have the worst possible version of every tank that have very public documentation for their stats. I love prototype tanks, especially from the US, but my own HSTV-L and AGS usually go unplayed because they're just massively nerfed for no reason and can be so incredibly unfun to play between weak performance and terrible Clickbait/AIM/Wolfpack teams. Extremely disappointing of them to not only sell this bitch ass version of one of my favorite protoype tanks as a premium, but also to literally name drop you as if you were supposed to encourage sales in a "Spookston approved" kinda way.

@o-hogameplay185 saying reload rates is the only balancing factor is an utterly braindead response. Remember with the Yak-141 they just said "war thunder is a game about what could be possible" when its IRST didn't physically fit the internal volume. By that logic surely the mere existence of a better round from the same program should be enough grounds for the HSTVL to at least get that, same with the reload rate really.
Where there is contention or 2 versions it should simply be an unlockable module. Should be the same for aircraft engines, you name it. If there are several versions.

"Gaijin ruski bias" isn't just a meme and I really think they just don't want their fee fees hurt by letting another nation have something similar and closer to the 2S38 level.
Considering how inconsistent War Thunder is, it's astonishing how consistent Gaijin is about denying accurate implementations of most western systems no matter the number of sources, while also choosing to use the most optimistic numbers for russian vehicles. I fully expect the T14 within the next 3 updates, featuring every paper performance statistic (and then some)
i very much agree with you, and how disappointing and frustrating they are. it'd be made better if their behaviors were followed or justified by them with actual communication, such as: "here are the stats we provide for the hstvl which is a similar vehicle, albeit a different vehicle in reality; this is why we balanced and chose the reload speed we did" instead of being like: "nope we dont think it should have that ok bye" with some sources and then with others asking for more reliable or primary sources. they ask for these sources, then when provided with some, they make excuses as to why they dont want to follow them, and with no proof or evidence with their claims such as "our stats say this so thats it"

Genuinely cannot believe they thought that you'd approve of this to the point of name dropping you, I seen that and immediately knew this video would come
Imagine how cool a tech tree version could have been with 2 different module upgrades:
1st module gives you appliqué armor which gives you more survivability.
2nd module gives you dual stinger pods which allows you to be more multipurpose, converting you into a Cat/LCV (I know it's more complex than that, but they could also just give us a tech tree Cat/LCV)
3rd way would be having neither, saving the most weight and being the lowest profile of all of them.
Im just so tired of russia getting EVERY SINGLE minor variant or prototype as a techtree vehicle just to bolster their lineups where the US or Germany get jackshit in terms of functionality. The 2S38 is just the cherry on top with shit like the RDF/LT or the Puma VJTF being 11.7 while it sits comfy at 10.3 while being 10x better.
gaijiin is co- sorry, a "Russian Flavored" games company, pal... it's to be expected.
@@ratte6090 It's worse than that. Their community manager is literally a Kremlin plant.
dude what did you smoke? where can i buy it?
I wish they gave the African TTD the 120mm variant that was designed
>while it sits comfy at 10.3 while being 10x better.
But thats not true? 2S38 is one of the worst performing vehicles around that BR for russia
Someone at Gaijin personally hates anything related to western vehicles and put minimal effort in hiding it.
Whole company is russian based. What are you expecting?
I hate how the massacre anything that is not russian.
Yknow. Ive played warthunder for many years. started back in 2018 and have logged almost 4k hours in it.
For the first time, I uninstalled the game back in September just because I was so fed up with the games balancing, management, inconsistency, and money hungry tactics.
Unfortunately, I have been really itching to get back into it, telling myself, "maybe ill just stick to lower tiers" or "ill just focus on one nation at a time instead of spreading myself out like I used to."
Then I see videos like this.
Thank you spookston. You've kept me from reentering that cesspool of a game for probably a few more months. Keep shedding true light on the game, how its being managed and all the inaccuracies Gaijin implements for *"Balance"* .
Completely agree with you, this is a super sorry ass excuse of an update. They are really trying to just milk peoples money and then copy paste and act like it’s brand new stuff!
I thought war thunder was for REALISM. Gaijin just flat out refusing to make it realistic is wild
it never was and never will

@@nicogonzalez2466thb after nerfs it's not quite good, the depression and survivability just isn't there. I would rather wish Gaijin moved that thing up to 11.7 but fix the fuel tanks exploding 90% of the time and actually absorb all hits like it did pre nerf.
@@nicogonzalez2466 it is. it's not very fast, has bad survivability, not the best gun, no gun dep
The fact that they didn't even bother to give the HSTV-L an ammo crate really shows you that the Devs are out of touch
With everything that Gaijin is doing with bug reports, balancing, new vehicles, premiums/squad vehicles, maps, and sub trees, it's just worth the effort it takes to play this game if the devs just keep treating us like crap.
“Historically accurate “
yeah im fed up with gajins constant bullshit bug reports "marketing lie" my ass, whats the point in having the bug reports if there just gonna reject the ones that are right 99% of the time and make up some lie out of their ass saying how its not true
RIP US top tier teams. Expected Gaijin wouldn't be dumb enough to add another top tier US vehicle after the catastrophe that the Click-Bait was, but then again, its Gaijin, so you can't really expect anything sensible from them
From a game balance perspective it doesn't make a shred of sense for a sane dev to want to have 2 copies of the same tank, especially when they're different in reality. "Gaijin ruski bias" isn't just a meme and I really think they just don't want their fee fees hurt by letting another nation have something similar and closer to the 2S38 level.
“A fast fire rate would be op”
The strf9040 at a way lower br:
Considering how inconsistent War Thunder is, it's astonishing how consistent Gaijin is about denying accurate implementations of most western systems no matter the number of sources, while also choosing to use the most optimistic numbers for russian vehicles.
I fully expect the T14 within the next 3 updates, featuring every paper performance statistic (and then some)
It took me 3 years just to get the Type 93 to have the correct missile and velocity, these devs DO NOT care unless it fits their narrative.
And even then they somehow fuck up the heat seeking on the missile lmao
i very much agree with you, and how disappointing and frustrating they are. it'd be made better if their behaviors were followed or justified by them with actual communication, such as: "here are the stats we provide for the hstvl which is a similar vehicle, albeit a different vehicle in reality; this is why we balanced and chose the reload speed we did"
instead of being like: "nope we dont think it should have that ok bye" with some sources and then with others asking for more reliable or primary sources. they ask for these sources, then when provided with some, they make excuses as to why they dont want to follow them, and with no proof or evidence with their claims such as "our stats say this so thats it"
Yeah don’t apologize for sounding annoyed 11:24 I quit because of this kinda stuff rubs me wrong
No, spookston. Be annoying, we love it. Annoy gaijin with video after video, convince other UA-camrs to do the same. I want this shit fixed, both of them
meanwhile the fucking 2S38 sits at 10.3

Angery dog barks at snail with facts and knowledge
I was so excited to unlock the hstvl thinking it looked like a solid little sneaky boy. When i finally got it it all illusions of fun shattered in the first match. Even taking tanks from the side is finicky. Rounds consistently do almost no damage. I hit crew member directly and see them yellow on a fairly regular basis. So either the round is completely goofed, or they found some of the best genetically modified badasses who can shrug of 75mm rounds to man enemy tanks. They really did our boy dirty spooks. Thanks for the video i will be keeping my money.
One of the most frustrating thing to me is hitting russian era on the sides and seeing my round completely absorbed by the era while the era stays completely intact or only slightly damaged! It should at least make the era explode if it's going to defeat the round (it wouldn't even defeat the round flat on).
I find it a bit funny that the Type 10 (or I guess TKX(P)in this case) is used as an example of a better vehicle, when it also has a wildly inaccurate reload speed, an atrociously incorrect CVT transmission, and no armor whatsoever.
Gaijin will always find a way to not properly and correctly model vehicles, most of the time making them several times worse than real life.
Just in the case of western nations. Not the russian ones, ofc. Russian vehicles have to outperform EVERYTHING.
