60 Minutes, the most successful American television broadcast in history, began its 52nd season in September. When the President is more experienced in creating drama on T.V. than legislation and governing, it's almost an inevitability. The closer to his departure, the further from reality he will become. He knows precisely what's he's doing and what he's done. His world is drama and was given the keys to the most influential office in the land and expected him to put his thirst for drama behind him. As true as your statement is, it's merely another high viewed episode as far as Trump is concerned and his supporters are just props to promote his brand.
There do exist governments far worse than ours. However, that doesn't make ours acceptable in these situations or any to begin with. So in short, the U.S. is still far off from being a great place to live in.
@@megasalamence4868 It's impossible to move forward as any nation if everyone just wants to point their fingers at the past or others nowhere near as developed as the US to justify the acts of today. I understand you didn't do that here but I can assure you, if we just ignore our faults or issues here simply because someone did something worse in the past or that others have it worse in other countries we will never address our own needs in a wholly manner here. The Whataboutism has to stop. Acknowledging our needs while still adding "but what about" isn't much different, in fact possibly worse, considering they are aware of our needs yet still insist of diverting attention to someone or somewhere else. Let's address our issues and needs just once in this day and age without either sides pointing fingers. I guarantee we would have a much more functional government if we just stopped already with the endless argument of Whataboutism.

Great respect for Truman, advocate clean government and greater wealth distribution and income equality, but the quote is misleading, dated, and simplistic. The U.S. pays top officials high salaries, which is good. They may not garner nearly as much as top executives in the private sector, but it helps keep them honest and loyal. For instance, Pelosi as Speaker receives about a quarter of a million a year. When starting out as a Representative 28 years ago, she received just $95,000 annually.
Many of our politicians throughout history, like Pelosi, Romney, Trump, and numerous others, have been wealthy before ever taking office. Just because a politician is rich doesn't mean a politician is corrupt or bad. Not sure what the Senate Leader gets, but the President receives over $400,000 a year. So, the Truman quote is now false, at least for top officials, but that shouldn't be regarded as anything terrible or nefarious. They are still getting paid far less than people in similar positions in the private sector, while their duties and responsibilities are far more weighty.

Republicans filled the covid relief with bailouts and tax relief for the rich and their corporations, absolutely stuffed it with pork, and gave little to nothing for the average American. $600 is nothing.
