There are very tough people in the U.S . Men women and even very young children . I myself thought I was pretty tough having been in the Marines many years ago . But anyone who could watch MTG on a interview on 60 minutes is much tougher then I ever was .

I agree with your point about the source of the demise of our nation, it is a malaise fed by ignorance. I grew up in the 1970s when, as a young person, I loved to read about history and politics. Later, in the 1980s, there was a lot written about the coming demise of the USA, about how the might always fall given enough time. The popular thinking looked to external forces, foreign powers or the failure of capitalist democracy. Sadly, the reality is mundane. It seems stupidity and a lack of curiosity among the people who don’t understand what a privilege it is to be born in this country. This country will not be a better place to live if we continue upon the paths of division and anger.

As someone who believes in the GOP both on policy and principles, the last decade has been a nightmare. We did this to ourselves. We rightly wanted a more populist policy direction, but allowed the chief con man to open the door truly wacko and insane types like MTG. Senator Graham, before he jumped on the trump train in order to stay relevant, said it best: “if we elect him we’re going to get what’s coming to us and we will deserve it.”
