As a black man, this was a very eye-opening conversation! It definitely activated something inside me. Let’s let’s heal, Black people! This is a very gifted man. Good job guys.
When I get this job, I'm setting aside money so I can book sessions with Dr. Barnett. You don't know just how bad I need to talk to this man. I cannot wait.
The line that got me was to the black women, don't want a man to heal because you want a husband. That is a true statement. I enjoyed this interview. I wasn't familiar with Dr. Barnett before this interview.
Thanks Brandi, for sharing this, awesome interview, of you and Dr., Jay, Wow! This is sooooo good! I am so sorry for Dr. Jay, the way he was abandoned, treated, abused, as a child! And all children, that went through, or are going through this! This is why are Black people, are struggling, in our marriages, relationships, with our parents, children! Many of us, are hurting as adults, and have not dealt with our childhood trauma! Many men, women, are going to be healed, helped, by hearing this man, testimony! Love this! Lord Jesus! Heal us where we hurt, go back to our childhood trauma, God, and heal us! (Thank God, for the late Pastor Steven Darby, in his video's, he use to pray, deeply, for God to heal our childhood hurts, traumas! ❤😊
Thank you Brandi for having Dr. Barnett on your show. I love hearing different perspectives from courageous, strong black men because I have a black son and it helps me to understand him better.
Listen!!! Finding Dr. Barnett is not easy these days, but when he pours, it’s amazing to receive. Brandi, what do we need to do to get your content in front of the world? Our community can’t afford you remaining the best kept secret on YT.
This is real talk! I just created a group with my siblings and posted this video in our group. Her videos have become an integral part of my healing, I had to put my family on. Most of these people I’ve never heard of. I’m so grateful for her platform.
I appreciate what Dr. Barnett shared. Even as a woman, I relate to his story, including the crushing and rebuilding process. Thank you for a great interview! Also, you look great, sis!
Love the wisdom and compassion Dr. Barnett shares. It has helped me extend grace and compassion to black men even when I have to create distance to protect my mental health. #healbro
Dr Jay What a WHOLE MESSAGE!!!! Coming from Black Single Queen!!!I grew up in a single parent home and didn't know my father, so as a result I didn't know how to relate to men who valued me as a queen and God's Daughter!!! Your message is for women too!!! God bless you for addressing this important matter😎👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾!!! Dr. Brandi thank you for having this king as a guest on your show. Great job🤎🤎🤎💯
Relatable and much needed interview! Black men suffer in silence and don’t realize that they are Kings! I raised 3Kings as a single mother ❤❤❤ We have to protect and Love our brothers, sons and men!
Unless your kids father passed away or there was domestic violence or he intentionally left, YOU are part of the problem. Single mothers thinking they can raise boys into men, or kids into responsible balanced adults.
It is unthinkable that the people who are supposed to love & support you sometimes will retraumatize you by not listening or denying their role in your painful memories..not believing the child or not being accountable to the child hurts them even more 💯💔
It's so encouraging to hear about his progress and clarity. So many of us have issues that go unaddressed. Im stuggling with his mother slack of insight and wherewithal. I pray continued healing for him and us all.
May God continue to order his steps in this season of the healing we all need. I appreciate his vulnerability, authenticity and how humble he carries what he carries. He is the face of longsuffering!! I had to share this with my son so he can understand what is happening between him and his father.
When he talked about isolation to be equipped for greater and being chosen and also stillness at the end, that was for me. Im stepping back, healing, getting to know myself, and im being still. Seeking God etc. ❤❤. Love you Dr. Jay you are such a blessing.
So well said! I understand his message because I have experienced a lot of this. I had to go back and address my father, that little girl chose majority of my life, rejection and abandonment dealt with in therapy. What I can say is get in therapy before your pain overpowers you to the point of no return. That pain is intolerable. Therapy is a Godsend! I am now going to school to become the help I needed.
This was sooo good to hear. the dialogue & aha moments…! ”the man has forgotten but the little boy still suffers”… “ I'm often asking somebody to become something that I have not yet become for them to feel comfortable to be that” ooo so powerful, thank you Dr. Jay For being so vulnerable & transparent.
Thank you Dr.Barnett for your vulnerability. Also exposing how religious teaching can be abusive especially to those who have authority over you. Brandi ,also thank you for moderating this much needed conversation.
This is probably the most powerful and touching videos that I've come across. So touching. A tear jerker. Thank you for your voice Dr. Barnett. Please keep sharing. Your voice, your story and wisdom is powerful.
This is the most Powerful podcast to help begin to understand our black men and all the trauma our black men deal with and it's Pain! Jesus😢 Black men heal and regain your smile, peace, joy and inner happiness. WE NEED YOU AND YOUR INNER HEALING MATTERS❣🙏🏽
This has been by far one of my favorite interviews by you. It healed so much in me. I’ve been following you both for a while and referring Dr. Jay to all the men I know. Thank you for having him as a guest. What you do Brandi here is phenomenal and I’m grateful I’ve found your podcast. But baby those boots are fire! lol girl you fly
This was an amazing conversation that needed to be heard! You can feel what he is saying. I will have a conversation with my son to see how he is feeling. Thanks
First timer here, and while this is a great interview with lots of much needed transparency. I just wanted to say the host, I think he said Brandi, is so gorgeous. So gracious and classy. Locs flowing… I love it! 🌻
Thank you for this segment… ppl if you have been through these things plz get help bcuz of your don’t get help dealing with hour demons whether it’s through your adult life or your childhood it will traumatize you & by all means plz don’t be embarrassed bcuz there’s help out there for you… it really is…
So true cause that anger & rage has to land somewhere .. internalizing it causes anxiety & panic attacks..isolation leads to more depression but no one else should suffer cause of your pain ..👀hurt people hurt people 💯we all need some therapy /counseling to work through those childhood/adult traumas
PLENTY of people have never processed trauma they’ve been through and they are neither suicìdal nor homicidal. Let’s not put these extremes on people. People walk around here all day long and function (...some on high levels/ some just barely getting by) and being suìcidal/homìcidal doesn’t apply, even in thought. There are many levels to coping/coping mechanisms. These extremes are just that.
Jay is bae! I love me some him! 😭😭😭🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 I love the work he is doing for our blk men! He deserves all the accolades! This was another great interview! 🫶🏾
This has got to be the most phenomenal testimony. I can relate because I endured tremendous, prolonged abuse both in childhood & adult years. God has healed my wounds & I've published a few books & mentor women.
I wasn’t ready for the turn but my God !!!! I see the anger in black men in everyday life specifically when I see black men with white women. This is very enlightening. Thank you for being so open brother kudos to you kudos
I really feel for Black men the whole world over. They have suffered so much. And through Jay, I can really feel it and see it now. May God continue to bless you Jay so you can bless others. You went through your struggles so you could reach others and step in their shoes. And to think your faith is still so strong. You are definitely a miracle!!!
Start telling black women to be intentional about not creating single mama homes. Raising a boy or kids in general in single mama homes is a recipe for disaster.
What will help is acceptance. Accept what was, accept it is not your fault & release it… otherwise you will live the rest of your life in bondage. Truly forgive your Parents that is when your healing will take root
Brandi, I am new to your show. Thank you. I’ve followed snippets of Dr. B online but never heard his story. I’ve shared this with 13 family and friends, 9 of whom were men. Thank you
"Innocent victims of their EMOTIONAL DRIVE BYs"....WHEW‼️‼️‼️‼️ NOW, THAT'S insightful...IN THE INTRODUCTION‼️⁉️❓️⁉️❓️I can't wait to hear the rest. #ILoveDrJayBarnett ❤️

oooweee yall this content is so good FOR me and to me; as a trauma therapist who is finally doing her own work; However I teach this a little differently; as acknowledging trauma IS accepting that the person who hurt me may never be who or what I need them to be… accepting that harsh reality doesn’t mean it’s okay; & it hurts like hell…long story short I teach acceptance is grief; and the hardest thing to grieve is the loss of someone who is still alive… 😢; mane I gotta watch this again… just reconnected with my father…#mane🤦🏾
It's because of the call that God has on your life why you have gone through so much storms. God bless you and keep on pressing your way to higher level in the Lord..

Don't make this a black men issue. Black men can say same back to you. Make it a people issue.

The woman becomes successful but the little girl makes the decisions 😮😮… that just knocked me in out!! Omg 😳
Sooooooh much😢
Wow the oil comes with a price. Well said❤
How can Dr Jay be contacted for private counselling? The link on his IG seems to be broken.
A lot of men are walking around unhealed or trying to heal. It's exhausting.
This will help the men. Women too.
Wait... The shoes tho brandy!!! Gorgeous 🤩
This is so heartbreaking to hear...😢
