I am concerned about the anti piracy stuff, because putting the entire system out of commission over a single pirated or modded game seems a bit harsh. And considering I regularly mod the games I have, it's definitely a troubling thought.
I have multiple pirated games. Should I reset my headset or not?

Dude when you specified banning of modded quests I genuinely started shakin. I’ve modded the frock out of my quest. Side Quest, Custom Homes, and Beat Saber Mods to name a few.
same also the whole point of bonelab is mods

Memories of hopping onto Echo VR with the boys just for a fun time, there was like no reason for them to shut it down.
I can relate because I remember my first time playing and I met a few friends too.
yes there was. they couldn't afford to keep the servers up anymore. thats what my friend told me and thats why most games are shut down. (i dont play echo so i dont really know)

@@torment4119 then what happened because i dont know, im just saying thats most likely because thats how most things shut down. for example telltale games went bankrupt and had to shut down all their games. most notably minecraft story mode.

I don’t think that quest 2s will get bricked for best saber mods as the the devs said they were okay with it and would eventually add in house custom songs/sabers but IDK

Honestly pretty promising update. I'm not incredibly worried about anti-piracy measures since it sounds like it's up to individual developers, and we don't yet know how it'll interact with things like sideloading, and whether the hardware bans can be lifted in any way. I'd be surprised if meta wants to intentionally discourage buying used quest hardware, since selling the quest themselves at the prices they currently do is almost certainly selling them at a loss. Definitely mostly going to be implemented to discourage things like cheating/griefing in multiplayer games.

what you can do for the pre owned headset thingy is if ur from the UK then there is a place called CEX that buys and sells refurbished tech and they always test for things like hardwer bans

You were incorrect about the new Anti-Piracy.
It won't ban your device from EVERYTHING, only ban you from the app. So presumably, the Quest would simply refuse to launch it.
It's also not an automatic thing. Developers will have to manually add it, and it obviously won't be there for older versions.
So, if it was added to beat saber, you'd still be safe, since all mods are already made for an old version.
This also means devs have the choice to just not add it, so if a dev isn't worried about piracy, they won't add it.
I'm also confident people will find a way around it.
We thought v51 was the end of piracy, but they managed to fix it in a month.
I think the attestation api is probably for games going forward. My guess is anything before it comes out is probably ok. It will likely affect experiences that receive updates regularly and / or multiplayer is my guess.

Hand tracking is one of those feature that can sway the VR demand towards Quest over many, many PSVR2 or PCVR only HMDs (maybe except valve deckard) when Q3 finally releases where hand tracking is expected to be good enough to be used as a controller alternative. There is not really one headset (under $1000) that can do hand tracking better than Quest. Being able to use your fingers naturally in VR can be such a freeing experience.

ever since v51 update my beat saber doesnt install onto my quest 2 when i try, it was modded. did i lose all of my progress? i want to avoid a factory reset cause i dont wanna lose my modded levels :(
Also what we need is hand smoothing, because whenever youre playing a game, your hands be shaking everywhere. like imagine using a sniper in a vr shooting game.

I don't even know how to mod but it seems like mods are keeping VR alive and interesting while vr developers aren't spending enough r&d on software and games for the community. That alone makes me more inclined to go towards a different headset that isn't owned by a billionaire megacorp, I was on the fence and this is swaying me.

The only way ive been able to use mods without it breaking every update is play a older version through steam with bs manager which is only for pc though
concerned about that mod problem since my copy of bonelab stopped working for some reason when it was working just fine a few days ago

Hey, gethip I would like your opinion on something. I'm think of switching from quest 2 to the VIVE cosmos elite. Should I switch or should I stay with the quest? Anyone else's opinion would be greatly appreciated as well.
Vive Cosmos elite is definitely better than quest, although you need a good pc for it
excellent video as always. Bro I just can't figure out if I should go to the quest 3 from the quest pro... There seems to be overlap between the two it seems almost like the two devices have nearly nothing to do with each other. Is the quest 3 an upgrade or are they just two different headsets sort of with different use cases. I have no friggen clue at this point.
Quest pro is meta's high end headset the quest 3 is only an upgrade for quest 2 users who haven't gotten the pro

The low battery notification? It just straight up doesn't work. I never got any notifs and my device shut down itself in the middle of gameplay

Honestly there might resistant could actually help out gorilla tag for whenever there’s actually someone hacking the game or whenever there’s a ghost and they could easily ban them then having someone is faking a ghost and then banning them instead
