    Come on. All this moaning about the interior and pulling bits that look really well anchored. The interior is aesthetically AMAZING. It looks like the interior designers really enjoyed their work rather than trying to be as bland as possible and minimize everything for cheapness. Not only class-leading but in a class of its own.

      Yup, agreed with this "oh, look at this moving" pushing up & down with force. There's some comic show, maybe the Fast Show?, or Harry Enfield, that he goes round doing this until it breaks, "shoddy work!" he retorts. So many grab & push & pull the centre console & they move a tad but left alone they are fine, the ones that adjust to & fro will move a bit. It's a car! Not a brick house.

    I love how it looks on the inside. Honestly, I feel like it has one of the best cockpits out there. The outside isn't outstanding, but then again, few SUVs look good in my opinion. Price is a bit steep, but I would consider buying one used in a few years.

    Some feedback on the video, which otherwise was very good: 1) You need to mention the charging curve, not just the top speed. It makes a huge difference if it can hold 160kw for 30 seconds or 20 minutes. 2) Don't forget to mention whether or not it has battery preconditioning for DC charging.

    • @etbadaboum
      @etbadaboum 6 місяців тому +2

      Charge curve is summed up by the duration it takes to charge from 20 to 80%, as all manufacturers mention now

    It's about time the WLTP method of assessing range was reworked because the figures it provides are becoming meaningless. I am a huge fan of EVs and am on my second one but there is no way on earth that a square box weighing 2t+ with a 98kwh battery underneath it is going to get anywhere near 430 miles at 4.4 miles per kwh. Kia are one of the class leaders in efficiency but the smaller and very efficient Niro gets real world 4m/kwh. This huge blob ain't beating that by 10% - just not happening. It is likely to be 300 miles in winter and no more than 340 in summer.

    • @JetsetDruid
      @JetsetDruid 7 місяців тому +1

      I agree they could be more pessimistic (more like America's EPA) but as with MPG estimates they can only do so much, too many factors can effect range - driving style, weather, how much weight you are carrying, what tyres you have on the car, etc - it's almost impossible to give anything other than vague "it's probably about X"

      Tesla and BYD and MG and Polestar are bringing cars that have a lot less weight on superfluous stuff (stellantis = too much focus on complicated design, too less focus on optimization) and focus on real good stuff.
      I see Peugeot for example: they complicate a lot the design that when people step in, it’s too confusing! Tesla and polestar for example, have a clean uncomplicated design and a very good engine/battery/software and that is what matters!
      They should’ve had a cleaner lighter design to be lighter, cheaper, improve performance, inside space and…why FWD instead of RWD?! It makes the car less agile!

But if you look at other brands, like alfa romeo, chrysler, dodge, fiat, Leapmotor (if you count it as a stellantis brand) and maserati, all of them have more curvy and aerodynamic designs. Lancia is likely to make less boxy shapes to, stellantis has a lot of brands and a lot of fans. So they can eithout much problems make multiple shapes for whats basicly the same car

      Weight doesn't have that much impact on consumption. Weight usually has an influence on rolling resistance, but since most EVs use low-rolling resistance tires, at least in summer (and during WLTP testing, which is summer conditions at relatively low average speed), it's understandable that consumption figures aren't that different.
      Notably, at highway speeds, where WLTP truly falls short, the difference should be even smaller. This is because aerodynamics become the chief opposing force, which isn't affected by weight.

    I love the design of the new 3008 on the outside, honestly believe nothing comes close, was looking at getting one next year but really cannot stand the design of the inside, hate the "buttons" on the wheel hate the display and hate that so much is taken up by the temperature controls, I hate it in my 2008 so much of the screen gets taken up, the left side controls never get used there's no need to have it on both sides. New Skoda kodiaq is looking better and better.

      @@adrianbyron-parker5797Spot on, just substitute range with fuel economy. Trying to get those quoted MPG numbers is actually harder than getting the quoted range, EVs are more forgiving in how you drive them, as long as it's below 50 mph.

    • @markymarkreviews
      @markymarkreviews 7 місяців тому

      A good guide is whatever the WLTP stated range is, take 50 miles off it to get closer to a real world range. So a 400 mile WLTP range car should get you 350 miles pretty comfortably. etc.
      And then it may be a touch lower than that in very very cold conditions.

    • @nickhickson8738

      Yes but you can get petrol anywhere whereas with an EV the only way to drive is on the motorway system. Still you can insure with Admiral who'll come to you to give you a top up hopefully not from a diesel fuelled generator.

      The e-5008 should be coming later this year. As for the ride, every other car journalist I've seen has said it's more comfortable and less sporty than the previous model, so I'd take that review with a grain of salt and go test drive it when it becomes available so you can judge it yourself. It should definitely be softer than a Tesla Model Y, which is what I'm looking for.

      You can go for a hybrid. The Nissan Qashqui e-Power is a hybrid & the engine only charges the bty which powers the electric motor that drives the wheels. So you get a EV driving but you don't have to plug in at all. Pop into a dealership & discuss. I'm in the same boat & I'm testing one this week.

This was the last of the Peugeot diesels coming to Australia. The 2.0L diesel is a great engine - also got it at a huge discount off new price. I live in Australia so EV's will be a bit of a problem until our infrastructure improves.

    Its getting more difficult to have a smooth ride in an EV due to the massive weight of these behemoths. Trouble is to get the range (don't forget to reduce manufactures figure by 30%) they go and stick in bigger (heavier) batteries. Do we honestly think that thing would last 10 years - its all too flimsy.

    I feel like Peugeot missed an opportunity here. Why wasn’t this called the 4008? And then we can have a more traditionally shaped 3008 like the outgoing generation. They’d essentially be the same car but it would appeal to more buyers. Not everyone wants a coupé-like SUV.

    • @ouethojlkjn
      @ouethojlkjn 6 місяців тому

      @@joaquimbarbosa896 I suspect Tesla know exactly when their 25k model will arrive, you don't - that is true. One thing the Model Y has is it is actually on sale and you can buy one and it has more range than the Peugeot currently available. And a Frunk. Stuffing a car with batteries is one way to increase range, a very expensive one, but an option. This vehicle has less horsepower with less acceleration and not sure where you think the warranty is better - maybe it depends on the country you are in, because it sure isn't the case where I am. And I had a massive dust up with Peugeot over warranty concerning a 2014 2008 I once owned. Never again. I am afraid the dealerships were truly appalling as well. Maybe things are better now - they could not be any worse. At the moment I am also part of a group action suing Peugeot for their version of dieselgate. I am glad they are working on EVs but don't for one second fool yourself that anything by Stellantis is better than Tesla.
