  • In Vlog #2 I unbox and talk give my first impressions about the Sony RX100 VII camera that I will be using for vlogging as a compact alternative to the Panasonic GH5. I also mount the Kiwifotos LA-52RX100 52mm filter adapter and a JJC Variable Neutral Density Digital Filter 52mm. I finish off with some sample videos from the RX100VII.
    Equipment I talk about in this video:
    * Sony RX 100 VII
    * JJC Variable Neutral Density (ND) Filter 52mm - F-NDV52 7mm / 0.28 inch
    * Kiwifotos LA-52RX100 52mm filter adapter
    * Sound Devices 633
    * Sound Devices 788T
    * Zoom H4N
    Filmed with:
    * Panasonic GH5 (Camera)
    * Olympus 17mm f/1.8 micro 4/3 (Lens)
    * Rode NTG3 (Microphone)

    I just got the Kiwifotos filter adapter. The adhesive ring is too wide, meaning that it sticks the separate sections of the lens when it's retracted. It may be suitable for earlier models but it doesn't fit my RX100 MkVII.

      The idea of gluing anything to my rx100m7 makes me feel uneasy

    do u still use this adapter? and does it block or create shadow for flash photography using popup flash and also does it cover the led focus light which you need in lowlight?

    Has that filter adapter adhesive held with no issues so far? Feedback on the filter on the RX100 VII?

      Will releas update. Adheaive was no good at all. Keeps falling off :/ I would say unusable. I will probably try to attach with something much stronger, but that could turn out to become a permanent fix. Also considering not using the ND filter for the RX and instead increasing F stop accepting breaking the 180 degree shutter principle for faster shutter speeds. For mor creative footage I will use the GH5 if I need large focal with ND filter.

      Very similar interest to say the least =) Well, I have come to realize that for many types of sound effects cheap equipment is OK too, especially if you plan to process sound effects a lot, e.g. arcade sounds and stuff.

    Is there a filter adapter that isnt actually glued...I mean those lenses are very fragile.

    • @bennieferinga9609
      @bennieferinga9609 2 роки тому

      Yes, Nisi filter holder is not glued. I will check it out myself.

      @@bennieferinga9609 I bought the nisi holder last year, it's great, way better than anything out there. Just gotta watch out for it when the lens backs into the body.

      @@Frantixj OK, great. I got my Rx 100 m7 just recently, and haven't gotten to use it much yet. I've been looking at the Nisi filters. Can I ask you some questions? Seems like you're satisfied with the filters. So is the quality of the filters good? And do you use it often? I'm new to camera photography. Been using smartphone cameras. I guess I'm asking: Will the filters be something I need? I like landscape photography. Thanks in advance!

    • @Frantixj
      @Frantixj 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, the quality is good. I used some ND (neutral density) filters to reduce the amount of light going into the lens so that I can shoot in strong sunshine (for video that is). As to whether you'll need filters in photography, that depends. If you're just starting, my advice would be to just carry your camera everywhere you go and master whatever it offers. We're often drawn to accessories and utilities (which is fine) but I'd get to those things once the gear starts limit you or you feel the need to get them.
      Landscape is cool but it mostly requires good locations so a lot of location scouting. I follow Todd Korol and Simon Baxter who shoot landscapes and teach a lot about composition, light and not just looking at things but also noticing them ;)
      If you have any more questions, fire away :)

      @@Frantixj Thanks for replying! I agree that it's best to use the camera and bring it with me at most times before buying more and more gear. Thanks again. It's possible I ask you more questions later 😃
