I don't know if I've commented on this video before. I just have to tell you I cooked this last night and it was just amazing. My husband who's Indian was very impressed. This is the second time I cooked this recipe, substituting Kashmiri laal mirch with paprika.
I am so glad that you liked it. That’s what I frequently tell my viewers, to keep my recipe just as a guide and cook in your own way with whatever ingredients are available at your place. Thanks a lot for your time in sending me your feedback. There is another chickpea recipe on my channel using tofu . Take care 🙏🏽
OMG ..... you see, there's cooking, and then theres a art. THIS is art. well done young lady, been ordering this dish from my local takeaway for years, now am gona do it myself.
just tried this curry (minus cumin) and i nearly shed tears because all this while, ive been eating them at restaurants but now, i am able to make one thanks to you! the recipe is sooooo good! 😋 cheers x
Bumbi, I absolutely love your recipes! My husband and I have moved from the big city and our favorite Indian restaurant. Thank you so much for posting your recipes as I can now enjoy most delicious Indian food once again! ❤
This is my new favorite chickpea recipe. Thank you. I made it yesterday afternoon and I'm now enjoying my third serving with basmati rice this morning for breakfast! I think the fried potatoes really make this dish and I was fortunate to have all of the ingredients on hand including the fresh ginger and cilantro, which I usually have but not always. I'm not a vegetarian but I will be looking for your daal recipes today...
My first experience enjoying curry was in south Florida back in 1976. Aloo Chole was my first. I fell in love with it and learned to cook my own dishes, as many as I could. Even worked in a restaurant named Taste if India. Thank you for this wonderful video. I can never stop learning more. When I cook Indian dishes for my friends they freak out, they all love.
Very grateful for this recipe, Bumbi. I tried it last night (minus the cumin seeds and the ginger, which I didn't have) and I was delighted with the results. I first came across this dish in 2012 in Sudder Street Calcutta. I used to have it for breakfast in one of the street stalls, together with chai, fried egg and toasted bread - delicious! One positive about lockdown is that my cooking is becoming more adventurous, and I have added quite a few things to my repertoire. I am looking forward to trying out some of your other dishes soon. Kind regards to you!
I am so happy you liked the recipe. Thanks for your kind words. Great to hear that you’ve been to my beloved home place Calcutta. I miss my lovely city. Please do visit my channel page for more recipes and please do send me your feedback. Thanks a lot for your time in leaving a comment. Really appreciate it . Stay tuned 🙏🏾
It is nice that you give alternatives if certain things not available. I often substitute items in recipes as a recipe is really just an idea. This looks a great easy dish.
I made your recipe and it worked perfectly 🎉my family absolutely loved it. Thank you for instructions that weren’t intimidating!!! You made it seem I could do it and I did!!! Delicious!!! This makes a vegetarian diet VERY EXCITING 🎉🎉🎉
This curry is amazing! My boyfriend and I made it yesterday and mostly I was just screaming of enthousiasm! (he just cashually liked it). Thank you so much for this recipy, it's easy and I didn't even have to go to the supermarket for it, which I really like. I am definately going to put this in my routine of recipy's!
So happy that you liked it so much. Thanks for sending your lovely feedback. I appreciate it. Please do visit my channel page playlist for more recipes.

wow. I'm getting hungry while watching here in the Philippines. I missed eating this with roti or the chapati etc. Loved this. thank you for sharing. i will cook one of these days.
Thank you Bumbi! It was delicious. I've always loved eating curries, but not being much of a cook, I figured I would leave that part to the professionals. But today I cooked one myself for the first time! So simple even I couldn't mess it up. I will check out your other recipes now.

Yes for making curries we love using deep pots called “Kadhai “ . As not much of that type is available online I usually buy these kind of pots . Thanks a lot for leaving a comment 🙏🏽
@@careyemartin7781 Hi Carey. Sorry. I just got this message. No I have never been to India. My Irish Aunt married a man from Kashmir. So I had a half-Indian cousin. Sadly no longer with us. I have a friend/colleague at the university where I work who is first generation Indian. But I've always liked Indian food. I am also very interested in Indian history. I don't think many people in the UK have an accurate account of it.
This is a really nice, a quick meal I make for vegan friends. My preference is to add some spinach and a couple of black cardamoms (I like the smoky flavour).
I made this recipe and it turned out excellent. It tasted even better the next day or am I imagining it? I also soaked the can of chickpeas with a teabag in warm water, which I discarded when I cooked the peas. Thank you for this recipe. I am going to try the chicken meatballs next time. I also like the fact that you remind us about how much heat to apply at every stage. Most videos assume we know the difference between cooking spices on high heat or low heat. I made a mess in the past trying to cook on med high heat when medium heat was required.
Sure. I have a chickpea recipe with spinach on my channel as well. Please do send me your feedback after trying the recipe. Thanks for leaving a comment 🙏🏾
I’ve learned so much from only two recipes! Thank you so much. I was also thrilled to see the stainless utility bowls with gradations and pouring lips! Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out!
@@CurriesWithBumbi I made it! Excellent flavor! Delicious! I had to go to my local Indian grocery store to purchase some garam masala (since I didn't have that spice in my cupboards).
