Ingredients:
One medium-sized onion (200 grams), chopped
Vegetable oil
One tbsp garlic, minced
One tbsp ginger, minced
Hot peppers (optional)
One tbsp cumin
One tbsp coriander
One tbsp paprika
One tbsp chili powder
One tsp turmeric
One fourth of a cup water
Three puréed tomatoes (350 grams)
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Two cups boiled or canned chickpeas
One fourth of a cup yogurt (60 grams)
One cup water (used to boil chickpeas or regular water)
One fourth of a cup fresh coriander, chopped
Two tbsp butter (30 grams)
Half a tsp paprika or chili powder
Instructions:
In a wok or pot, sauté chopped onion in vegetable oil until translucent.
Stir in minced garlic, ginger, hot peppers (if using), cumin, coriander, paprika, chili powder, and turmeric.
Add one fourth of a cup water, puréed tomatoes, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer over low heat for 5 minutes.
In a blender, blend boiled or canned chickpeas, yogurt, and water until smooth. Add the mixture to the sauce.
Add boiled or canned whole chickpeas to the pot. Cover and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.
Stir in chopped fresh coriander.
In a separate pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add paprika or chili powder. Mix everything together and pour it on top of the chickpeas.
Stir well, ensuring the flavors are combined. Serve the creamy chickpea curry over rice or with naan bread.

People who do cooking videos really need to take heed of what you do, or rather what you don’t do. Get on with the recipe. No talking. No prepping. No BS. Just cook and present. If we miss something, we can rewind and watch again. Love how you present your new recipes. Thank you! ❤
I completely agree. Just show me the recipe!
Breath of fresh air isn't it? None of those awful mandolin and whistling sound tracks, and attention seekers shouting "hi guys, bla bla bla bla bla". Just calm and birdsong.
@@richardbates3272 i agree rather just read the recipe if there is no instructions
I like both styles, especially if the person narrating has a nice personality, voice and I like the music.
Yeah no
Wonderful recipe, and video. No person ranting and raving, just the sound of preparing, sizzling, stiring and plating up. PERFECT!!!
EXACTLY!!! I'm over people thinking we want to hear the endless talking.
I can think of many reasons: healthier, cheaper, easier to handle... vegetarian too. Pois chiches are very nutritious too.
How cold you call this peaceful cooking? You are using animal product that have been used tortured, exploited then slaughtered!! So, 🐂💩!
I must agree with you.
I made this and it was absolutely delicious. I used fresh red chilles instead of green and added spinach into the stew. I served it on a bed of roasted sweet potato. I will definitely be making it again. Many thanks.
Sounds delish, will try that!

My favourite cooking UA-cam channel!! Finally someone who gets on with it. No annoying music, long speeches, prepping… I just love what you do. May Allah put lots of barakah into it. آمين
A wonderful video without the talking. So many cooks do too much talking rather than getting straight to the point of cooking. Thank you for this. So peaceful and looks delicious!
How amazing! This is a cooking video about just the cooking and I loved it. It’s so peaceful and helpful to anyone with neurological problems because our brains can’t cope - fighting with music and talking and watching/learning!
It’s a joy, and so easy to take in all that’s happening. Love this so much ❤
I absolutely agree, it's a delightful presentation and a delicious recipe.
Yeah, it´s scary….😂
It's so PEASful.. ;)
You can always turn off the volume and turn on the subtitles.
@@joeb4142 yes, I often have to do that, but then total silence is my whole life as I live alone. I really love videos where the sounds are just the cooking and whisking and sizzling. These are comforting sounds, but loud dance music is so painful when combined with the human voice, that some of us have to stop watching, which is a shame. I love to learn new things too, and other people have interesting things to teach us, that maybe we hadn’t thought of. If I never hear the sound of humans talking, it gets quite lonely and I don’t get to embrace new stuff. Thanks for the suggestion though x
Just tried this receipe and it was soooo DELICIOUS!!! Super easy to do, I recommend to everyone!
Making it tonight!
I love watching your quiet video. So peaceful and calm.
Now definitely on my list. I’ve never thought of using purée chickpeas to thicken a sauce!
Lentils as well...
Ohhhhhhh...lentils rock!@@mrsmarple2655
Yes the pureed chickpeas is something I will try too.
If you boil a potato it makes it even yummier 😊
I can just smell the delicious aroma of the dish....
I like that there’s no music. Interesting idea to make the chili butter at the end.
I just tried it. It was fun cooking it with all those spices and even better to eat! My family loved it and we will take it in our regular cooking.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe. Greetings from Germany!
Btw., this video clearly belongs under the "unintentional ASMR" rubric. It is peaceful and calming...it is so good that there are no extraneous sounds, like music or talking.
I skipped a bunch of steps and it was still delicious. Can only imagine how good this version was.
I grew up eating chickpeas but the idea of grinding them with yogurt seemed really interesting. Made me wanna try. Currently m away from my country, so I'm definitely trying my home dish.. will be good time.
This is so peaceful. I just came home from a funeral and saw this. It just really, really hit the spot... the sound of that grease hitting the skillet... the gentle ASMR of the spatula tossing the egg... The funeral was harrowing, and yet... as I said... this REALLY HIT THE SPOT with its lack of narration and its honest, authentic, to the point... peaceful cooking... after a funeral... peacefully cooking... yeah...
Oh I’m so sorry. Funerals should be peaceful too. We deal with so much in life.
It was a pretend funeral for the imaginary friend of a friend. But this still REALLY HIT THE SPOT. @@MN-br5nb
I hope you feel better after a month ❤
Adding some fried pork belly instead of chicken peas would be super also
@@robertstuart1043 that might be a good idea. Or both.

What a wonderful tip you gave to blend half of that garbanzo usually it takes me hours and hours to get that consistency. I’m so thankful so so so thankful to you.

Made this last night... Did not have access to the Paprika, so subbed equivalent cayenne. Absolutely amazing, added to favorites list, will make again.
Your amazing cooking always makes me drool 😋.... can't wait to make this.... thanks for being an inspiration 🤟✨
This was super simple and quick to make and quite delicious. I added a squeeze of lemon juice at the end to brighten it up a little. Served with Basmati rice.
Definitely a recipe to try, looks good and not expensive 😋
Wow, this looks so delicious! I can’t wait to try it!❤✨🙏🏻♥️
Delicious. And I love the peace and quiet ... nothing needs to be said... its all there as you cook. Marvellous... I make my own Naan bread so will try this chickpea masala to accompany them. Looks delicious ❤
It’s just naan. Not naan bread. Not chai tea. One word is enough.
To me naan bread ... that's what it is... you call it what you like and I will do the same...
To me its naan bread ...

I did this exact recipe last night. Was delicious. Great video.
This looks amazing. I'll make this for sure (a vegan version). Chickpeas are my #1 staple. Thank you.
Lovely video, with no voice or music. Perfect.
Vegan - just use bugs.🙄🙄🙄🙄

Looks so amazing I can practically smell it! Will definitely make this one. Thanks!
I tried this recipe tonight & it was absolutely delicious!!!! It will now be on my menu rotation! Thanks again for sharing!
This looks delicious. I never thought of blending chickpeas. I will definitely try this method.

This was delicious! thank you so much for sharing the recipe 🙂
Sushmita: excellent idea blending the chickpeas with yogurt 😋 will make this very soon 👌 Love your recipes ❤
These are really good! I like that you purée some of the chickpeas, as it helps with the texture of canned chickpeas. My favorite method of eating is scooping up the curry with freshly made pita chips.
Just heading to the shops for the ingredients. Thanks for posting this xx
Looks soo good! Can't wait to try it! 😀
Thanks! I made the recipe with a few variations, like the coriander added on the plate. Delicious dish!
I am glad you like it 😊 Thanks for the support!

@@Amazigh_MaeMae This is a North Indian recipe. It's called Chole curry or chana curry. It's very popular in India - and is eaten for breakfast or lunch with chapatis, parathas or kulcha
What a wonderful list of ingredients! It’s definitely a healthy dish to consume. I don’t know much about the Middle East cuisine but I’m willing to try, without the hot peppers, and it’s going to be my time. Looking forward to learn and explore from your other dishes. Thank you for the recipe! Just cooked it, turned out very delicious
I just love chickpeas! And this dish looks delish! I could see this using lentils or even other beans, too. Thank you!!!!! 😊🤩😊
FYI, coriander greens are called cilantro in the USA. Hope this helps some people. This recipe looks awesome, by the way. Thank Q
Yes! That is correct
My daughter has another name for Cilantro, but this is a respectful channel! 😂 They say there is a genetic reason for this aversion. This looks great, we will just leave the Cilantro out! And we will probably subscribe!
@@beckiejani7782I’ve been wondering if fresh parsley would be a good substitute for cilantro.
@joeb4142 the best substitute would be parsley, its the closest possible herb
@@joeb4142 Might I suggest some thawed frozen spinach, or fresh if you have it, as spinach is often used in Indian cooking. You can adjust the other seasonings as you wish if you want more flavor, such as adding a little ground coriander at the beginning with the other seasonings. But spinach will add iron and magnesium to the dish.

I made this dish yesterday and it was not only really simple, it was incredibly delicious. Thank you so much for sharing.
Delicious. It’s similar to the way we prepare chickpeas in India but your method has a slight variation of yogurt and adding no dried whole spices or garam masala. And that butter tempering at the end looked interesting. Will try to it tomorrow and update the comment.
How was it

Really loved this recipe, it's probably better than mine which has more of an Italian flair to it with the addition of pasta. I will definitely try your recipe as I prefer chickpeas as more of a soup. For anyone reading this comment, please please please use olive oil instead of vegetable oil wherever possible as it is much healthier. I understand if your deep frying etc, but on dishes like this make the swap to olive oil.
are you italian or simply live in a fantasy where you cook "Italian food" from USA?

@@blackimp4987 I am Italian and we call it ceci and pasta. And no I don't live in the USA nor do I use any pasta made with USA wheat.... I'm trying to work out why you have used the word fantasy and how it fits with your question.
@@petercalabro6395 la ragione è... the reason is that your flattery is definitely disproportioned and sounds as the usual pathetic Italian xenophilia. We - Italian - have many more refined receipts of chickpeas and no one - at least not form center and northen Italy - of them are such a trivial mix of every spiced thing you find in your kitchen that completely covers the taste of the main ingredients. A receipt is something whose ingredients work together for giving a precise taste not a casual mix of everything vulgarly stricks for its intensity. yougourt... tomato ...
have you ever cooked chickpeas as a ragu for instance? that's a consistent and tasty way of cooking them
This chickpea curry looks delicious 🤤
Curry? Did I miss an important step? I did not see curry in the ingredients.
..... do you know what curry is @@LaTremenda2000
No but the technique of making a tomatoes based curry is very similar, so I imagine the original comment was just using a familiar name @LaTremenda2000
I think it's because of the cumin. I am not too fond of it but would leave that out from this recipe. I also don't like yoghurt in soups but that's just me lol.
Sounds like a great idea - to purée chickpeas(garbanzo beans in the US)! As a vegan I’d substitute the yogurt for coconut cream - gives it a smooth texture and takes the taste to another level!! The butter-based drizzle at the end could be subbed with a healthy oil like avocado or extra virgin olive oil. An easy recipe to make vegan and even meat-lovers will enjoy the rich flavors!🥘🥥🌿

Great recipe. Looks delicious. We would recommend fresh boiled chick peas,, not canned. It's preboiled, means many of the nutrients have degenerated and with preservatives added, which are not so good for health. Also, when cooking food products with protein, such as peas, milk, meat, fish, eggs, etc. use only one at a time. The human digestive system has different ways to process protein depending on the food product, particularly dairy products. So, in this case, only chick peas is enough. Dairy products should be consumed alone, never mixed. These suggestions stem from the Ayurvedic approach to health.
Hilarious to talk with such apparent authority about health and nutrition, and in the same paragraph talk about dairy, eggs etc. good luck with your heart disease
