It’s in the oven right now and smells delicious 😋 We are in Central Florida and love our bread. I did have to add 4 tablespoons of flour to while using the dough hook so it wouldn’t stick to the bottom. It Rose perfectly 👍 it wasn’t brown at 30 or 35 minutes so 40 was the magic number. Husband and I can’t wait till the hour cooling is up lol. Thank you for sharing 👍👍 Stay safe healthy and happy 😃✝️🇺🇸

Noreen, I'm a big fan of yours. I got myself a new stand mixer & have just finished making this dough. It's the easiest bread recipe I've ever tried, and it was so easy to handle!!! Will be putting it in the oven in a few minutes and I'm so excited to try the end result. Every one of your recipes that I've tried have been awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes & skills with all of us. :) Update: You were right, never buying store-bought bread again! Just had my first slice & it was fan-flippin'-tastic!!! Thank you!

"JACKPOT" Noreen I made this bread last night and WOW oh WOW. It IS everything you described, soft, compact, easy to slice and the taste is supreme. I have made numerous bread recipes from using milk, gluten conditioner, oil instead of butter, buttermilk powder and everything in between. They were all good, but not great. The taste would be really good but not the crumb, or the crumb was good but taste was mediocre. Some rose better than others. I have never found the PERFECT loaf until now. I let the bread cool and sliced of a lovely piece, slathered on the real better then took a trip to heaven. This bread is going to make a lovely sandwich for tonight's dinner. I am making some chix salad with Granny Smith apples, dried cherries, walnuts, celery, sour cream and mayo. Ok I have made myself hungry for another butter bread sandwich even after having for breakfast. lol Thanks for sharing this awesome recipe. BTW I am making another loaf as we speak. PS I used Peak dry milk, the kind that is full fat dry milk, I think that added to the overall taste and outcome.

I have been making this recipe for bread for a couple of months now, it is by far the BEST sandwich and bun dough I have tried in my off and on baking bread for years! It lasts a full week with out going stale in my bag on the counter and it freezes and thaws perfectly! This has been the only bread that I have made that still tastes good a week and even 10days later. Thanks so much for your hard work and sharing with us! I have even shared it with family and friends and they LOVE it also!

Noreen! This bread came out beautiful. Not quite as high as yours but a really nice size.
It has a really nice crumb and not too soft. Thank you for this recipe. A little more work than what I am accustomed to but worth the effort.

Hey Billy, I'm a noobe to Noreen too. I finished about 2 hours ago and my loaf actually rose just like hers. I didn't expect it to come out this good. Instead of milk powder because I didn't have any I cut water to 1 cup and scalded half cup milk and used that. Also I let my kitchen aid mixer work it for almost 10 minutes on low setting, #1. I've tried maybe 20--30 recipes and this by far is the best for me. When I did my second rise, the one in the bread pan, I actually let it rise almost 2 inches above the top of the pan. 30 minutes at 350. Man it looks exactly like Noreen's! I hope this helps and I sure hope Noreen is still alive and kickin because your post and mine are the only thing I've seen here for couple years. Be blessed! Oh and also, I used bread flour.

Decided to try this yesterday. I use the dough cycle of the bread machine and then finish in the oven. This came out so good. I love, love, love this recipe. I've customized it a couple times too, and it is still spectacular. I've substituted 1/3 of the all purpose flour with wheat flour and I've used powdered buttermilk rather than regular powdered milk. I make a couple loaves a week now and buy no more bread at the store. No crumb, not too heavy, simply delicious!! Thanks Noreen! :)

Noreen, I can not tell you how much flour I wasted by following other bread recipes by people who say things like, "This is grandma's recipe, or some fancy restaurant milk bread recipe only to find out later the loaves were either too dense or too dry or even too salty due to typo's or deliberate withholding." I say, If you don't want grandma's recipe to be known, then don't post it! Don't call for 6 cups of flour when all you need is 4. (this fosters mistrust to the website as well as the product) Good God, it's very wasteful, I was at my wits end when some how through Linda's Pantry I found you, and needless to say my 3rd attempt was a charm. I was so happy that I finally found a perfect bread recipe. Needless to say, this one is a keeper. Hey guys when you find a good recipe, Keep it! This is only the beginning. Thank you. my children thank you as well.. God bless you.

Hi Noreen, first timer for any type of cooking. I tried your Bread recipe here because it seemed so simple however the first time around sure wasn't as much of a success as yours, I ended up with a very wet dough even after adding nearly 1/4 cup more flour. I was to gun shy to add more I couldn't ball it up in my hands because of a gummy mess but came very close in my greased bowl, it rose very nicely and as the first time was to wet for the log roll and tucking it on the ends so again I just slapped it in my pan and smoothed it down and went for my second rising which barely cleared the top, placed it in to bake at 350, never did brown but it did blonde up good, and I thought oh --it! a waste of time. But wait, after it cooled we sliced some and it was a lot prettier than what I was expecting, and the Kicker it tasted a lot better, so I'm going to try again till I get it perfect now, and wanna say Thanks for your time and recipe .Denny

Thank you thank you thank you!!! I'm new to homemade bread (that isn't gluten free). The bread recipe I was using, I was able to tweak it enough to make everyone EXCEPT my daughter happy with it. So I continued looking. Today I used this recipe. My daughter reluctantly tried a bite and exclaimed, "I can live with that!". Woohoo! Bonus, it seems that it will actually stand up to peanut butter! Thank you so much!

Youve done it again Noreen this looks like it will convert to spelt flour nicely. Spelt is a lovely whole grain flour that can be usedd in place of white flour. It still has gluten but is more protein than carbs which makes it great for people who need to shrink the hubby. I love my husband and good bread isn't cheap. I had to go to my health food store to find real milk powder, the regular stores just had that stuff in a box that looks like styrafome and they wanted wayy too much for it. I'll let you know how the spelt version turned out. Thank you for so freely sharing your knowledge. Your love of food and family, furry and human shines through.

Oh my lord, noreen, I can't believe it. This is the best white bread I've ever fixed or eaten. My stand mixer did the hard part. Very easy and you certainly lived up to your claim "perfected it". I like mine a lighter crust than yours, so I baked it to an exact internal temp of 180 degrees. The crust was soft like store bought bread and the crumb was exactly like a delicious dinner roll (i cheated with a little extra sugar). Wowee what a winner, tysm.

I finally made this recipe and the Cinnamon-Raisin variation. They turned out well. It is a very nice dough, easy to work with. I divided the first two batches of dough into eight small loaves and made one large loaf of the Cin-Raisin dough. I used my Kitchen Aid stand mixer and could not believe how quick and easy it made the work.

Hello, I just subscribed at around this time last night and have only seen a few episodes, but I have to say that you are a fun, real person/cook! I think the chemistry between you and Rick is awesome! I really enjoy his little side comments and jokes. His camera work is great. Most shows focus on what the cook is doing or saying, Rick, on the other hand focuses on what the FOOD is doing as much as possible!
A friend of mine just gave me a 20lb bag of flour, a whole bunch of active dry yeast, powdered milk, and I didn't know what I was going to do with it, now thanks to you, my hobby of cooking may grow into a hobby of baking as well. Thank you. I can't wait to try this!

I am making your bread recipe right now. I used White lily all-purpose flour, which is a lighter flour. I wanted to tell you, if you are using White lily flour, you will need to use 4-1/2 cups of flour instead of 4 cups. I know you live in the South and a lot of people bake with White lily. I love their flour and thought you might want to know that tip.

by my unofficial count I've made this loaf about 15 times and it never disappoints! Made it exactly from your recipe at first and then started the substitutions... Instead of butter, I use bacon fat and I think it gives the bread a nice flavor and still has a good crumb. Then I subbed Honey for the sugar....same same...great flavor and good crumb.
thank you for the basic recipe...reminds me somewhat of the Cornell University bread recipe of long ago which also added the nonfat dry milk. KUDOS Noreen!!!

A loaf of this bread is on it's first rise as I type. Thank you so much for the recipe and the videos .... and the desire to drag out the Kitchen Aide and start making my own bread for my family .... My hubby is in heaven :)
Well ... I popped back to share my experience with the loaf that continued to rise even after I put it in the oven. It rose so high it burned stripes on the top of the loaf from the coils in the oven .... not sure where I went wrong but I am not giving up .....will try again this weekend!

Noreen, I tried this and the everyday loaf and the everyday loaf flavor is divine!
I’m surprised your girls like this one better.
This one is delicious, but it’s more bland in taste in comparison to the everyday loaf. Either way, I froze both loaves and will be cutting the frozen loaves soon! Thanks Noreen

It's in the oven now and it smells wonderful! I had to take a peek at it and was disappointed to see it had fallen. I think I left it to long for the first rise. I'll try to make it again next week.
