It tells you this in the manual, it's a good idea to read it before trying random fixes. It's not a trick, it's a software function that you didn't know existed because you didn't bother to read the manual.

Sir, just found you via search. I bought a used SL 16.0.2 with FW 400. I have a FW 400-800 cable to plug into older Mac w/ 800. When I go to system on the board it shows sampling rate of 44.1 kHz and status: no driver. There is no firewire option to change. Can you help?? Thanks so much

I have an HP laptop and got the 24.4.2 to hook to. The cable U have is a 400-6P to 800-9P. The 400 connects to mixer but the 800 does not on the computer. Is there an adapter for one of these slots on laptop? Help please. Thx.
What is said about the cable in this video is not accurate. That connector that is on the Mac side of the wire is called a 9 pin and on the Presonus side its a 6 pin but your cable is still probably either a 400 or a 800 cable. Unless it converts from 800 to 400 but I'm pretty sure you need some kind of adapter for that.

I never read the manual unless i run into a problem. You know, same as 80% of users. And when we did this two years ago, it was not in the manual. At least i could not find it. I looked. And on your like jab about "pastors"... I am not one. It's a nick name. But a TON of these mixers are sold into the church market...
man i could REALLY use your help, My PreSonus is connecting to my pc and im able to use it with capture, studio one, etc. BUT im trying to use that audio for Wirecast (Live Streaming) Windows is not recognising sound coming from the firewire. am i missing a driver or something?

What kind of harddrive do you use? There homepage says that you need 7200 RPM, but standard for laptops is 5400 rpm. So what kind of RPM do you have on your hard drive? And if you have 5400 does it affect much?

Most laptops offer an option for a 7200 RPM drive. Get it if you can. Rule of thumb for audio and video is that faster hard drives are better.

You can use the FW 400 to FW 800 cable with no adapter. It will only run at FW400 speeds though.
How do you up date? My Presonus 16.4.2 does not have the monitor effects send page??
The software is all the same. Just the I/O is different. So the trick should work on the 16.0.2 as well. Good luck.

Open up the system tab on the StudioLive, navigate to page three. There it is.
Wayne Phillips on page 3 just gives sampling rate and says status no driver... an older 16.0.2

I have a new 2014 iMac - no firewire port at all. Only adapter I can find is a thunderbolt to FW 800. Any ideas?
+Brad Neal FW 400 to 800 adapter going into your FW 800 -> thunderbolt adapter, this is what I use.

Select Aux 1& 2 in the input tab of WDM in Universal Control and Wirecast with get audio
