  • During 2022, a few viewers contacted me regarding how to add reverb to the monitor mixes on a Presonus 16.4.2. We cover how to do that in this video. This works for any of the effects.
    Surprisingly, the Presonus 16.4.2 console appears to still be very much in use in the industry. This is great to see! The 16.4.2 (as well as the 16.0.2) are great small format consoles.

    I use one of the aux channels as a feed to my live stream. I was trying to find a way to add reverb to simply "liven" up the sound to not make it sound so flat/dry. Adding a hint of reverb will do wonders. Thank you for this!

    14:10 ... The reason the second page of Aux inputs is not documented or easy to find is because they were introduced with the next version of the console (16.4.2Ai), which has the printed under the meters --- the Older console had that implemented with a software update.

    Hi sir, I'm a young Brazilian guy, and I've always had this doubt about how to put the effects in the aux. Thank you for that.

    I have my computer into the tape inputs in the back to play backing tracks. I have this same board. Is there a way to get this mix into my monitors? (knob on board says 2 Track In then Tape and Link button below that)

      Yes. Select the monitor mix you want to route the tape input to (press that "mix" button). You will need to press the "mix" button twice (the first press of the mix button brings up the monitor input levels, the second press of the button should bring up the input levels for other inputs for that mix). After you press the "mix" button the second time, the knob associated with channel #2 (on the Fat Channel) is the "Tape in" control. Turn this knob to the right to add the computer into the monitor mix.
      Here's a video we did covering how to get reverb into the monitors. This is the same process for getting the "tape in" into monitors, except you will use channel #2 instead of the reverb channels:

    Hi, just wanna ask about my Presonus SL 24.4.2AI flickers on input metering intermitent changing to fat channel and back. The same goes with output metering engage. What causes the problem?

    • @stageleftaudio
      @stageleftaudio  9 місяців тому +1

      Flickering could be due to "dirty" controls within the console; the flickering is like static would be with a lose connection. Depending on the environment where the console resides, humidity and dust can cause direct controls. Also, the issue could be something like a lose cable within the console. If there is a cable, it may need to be re-seated.
      You may want to post your question on the Presonus forum; it's possible others may have experienced the same issue and may know how to correct it.

    Whether GEQ is available with the Aux mixes?

    • @stageleftaudio
      @stageleftaudio  Рік тому +2

      Yes, it will still work with GEQ on the Aux mixes. The GEQ is on a different layer than the effects.

    Hello friend, I have the same console but I lost my presonus account, I don't remember my email, I need to download the firmware to later install it, do you think you could do me the favor of downloading the files for me and send me the link? I would greatly appreciate it

      I am sorry, we are unable to do that. Though, you may try opening a ticket with Presonus. They may be able to help you obtaining the firmware.

    Why would anyone want reverb in their monitor?

    • @mitas3484
      @mitas3484 Рік тому +1

      I mixed for a band that requested this, its because they're used to hearing themselves with a bit of reverb usually during rehearsals etc.

      @@jasonlapasinskas5302 Gotta admit. ive been doin this for 20yrs. But I'm ALWAYS willing to learn something. So believe me.. Im NOT being argumentative!
      But my question is, wjy would they even want it in IEMs in your opinion?

    • @dustinthiessen
      @dustinthiessen Рік тому +2

      @@FoulOwl2112 With IEM's it goes a long way to feeling less direct, and isolated from the ambience of the "real world" A lot of guys with IEM's also want their mix to sound like a record, again assisted by verbs and delays.
      Now that said, I've definitely had a couple people on wedges ask for reverb, and I'll usually oblige, but I'll usually also explain why it's not necessarily a great idea lol
